oh absolutely, and both of them have 1 on 1 encounters with ikaris that are two parters. druig taunts him with “you’re gonna have to kill me” and then ikaris tries to without ajak to stop him anymore. thena tells ikaris that she is honored to fight with him as she resists his restraint on her behavior off the battlefield and ends up revealing she always wanted to fight against him. i enjoyed how both of their characters were set up to clash with him from the get go. the exposition in babylon and the tenochtitlan segment do well with developing the foundation for where everyone’s loyalties will end up, not just thena and druig.

ikaris is an intense tragic hero of his own story, the villain of eternals, but a tragic hero in his own kind of othello-esque type of way. his development narrative wise is crazy good but like in every other sense he’s shit, if that makes sense. he feels very intense emotions, he is opposite to the other eternals in so many ways, and he’s a very pretty and physically strong man. he’s a good character, not a good person and yes i love him but i have him but i love him.

I never even stopped to think that Gilgamesh and Thena were in love until someone made the funny comment that Gil “left just to make food for his gorgeous danger wife.”

Everyone else thinks that Ikaris and Sersi was sweet when all I could think was “what the shit” every time they came on screen.

I was 100% convinced that Sprite was in love with Sersi and not Ikaris.

I literally fell in love with Phastos and his family as SOON as they came on screen because I have never, in my entire life, seen the portrayal of a happy, same-sex family on screen and it gave me so much hope.

My first reaction to Sprite was “that’s a they/them motherfucker” and it turns out to be a lie. Same with Phastos not even gonna fuckin cap about it.
