Looking back, I’m glad that I had to learn inversions slowly. Each one revealed itself to me as a gift, and I was able to bask in the bliss of achievement. If that fear hadn’t been present, I never would have appreciated the skill, beauty and strength of each pose.

However, at the end of the day, this is why I love yoga. There are no shortcuts. The shifts happen when it is time. And when they do, it is like that first bike ride without training wheels, when your dad gave you that last little push and you just took off—into the fullness of Life.
