“You take that back right this very same instant,” Sasha let out, bringing his knees closer together while at the same time patting his lap so she could take her pick. “But, and I’m just speaking hypothetically here, what would be the worst possible outcome? Who doesn’t love going viral?”

“Oh my god, I hate you.” she replied dryly, fingers pressing against her temples in mock annoyance. Nudging at her co-star’s leg she rolled her eyes, “Move over or I will sit on you.”

aaron grinned at his costar, pulling on the scrub top so his torso was covered again – he’d had more shirtless scenes in the first season of paloma general than he’d had in the entirety of his time on afterlife. “oh, you’re just begging for our trainers to behead us, aren’t you?” he replied with a chuckle. “cheryl found out about my secret candy stash and i swear, i’ve never seen her go so red – not even after a ridiculously intense work out. but you know i’m always down for pizza. like, you don’t even have to ask; just give me ‘the nod’ and i’ll automatically assume we’re going to get food.”

“At this point, I’m just thankful I’m too old to play any sort of super hero. They’re expected to look like they’re molded out of marble and this is pressuring enough as it is.” Not that he usually was that big of a slacker - never really had the chance to be - although it was possibly the payback they deserved in the industry. Sasha let out a long breath, one hand dropping to his stomach as if to measure how much he’d been holding in, and whether it was safe or not to actually get a pizza. “I’m nodding with every part of me that could nod right about now. Maybe we’ll just ask for an extra-thin crust. And skip out on the beer that usually accompanies one of those.” He was still smiling even as he turned his back on Aaron, tugging his not-quite-a-shirt off him, ready to hand it back to wardrobe. “Unless you’ve got any extra shooting to get done. I know a place nearby - they’re usually pretty good at keeping fans out when I ask.”

His voice made her pause, thumb stalling briefly over the screen of her phone. She’d wondered when this time would come - It was inevitable that they’d have to talk but it was something she had actively avoided since he joined Paloma.

Sloane looked up, closing out Twitter without looking, eyes meeting his for the first time in a long time. He looked tired but that wasn’t what he had asked. “Usually the kind with whipped cream,” she quipped, fingers reaching out for the extra drink he held, “but this’ll do. Thank you.” 

She stared at the drink, fingers rolling the skewer resting atop holding those cherries he remembered she liked. “So, Alex, how have you been?”

“It’s really the fact that there’s a cherry in it what makes the drink matter, isn’t it?” Voice remained friendly, although he made sure not to tack-on any extra fake cheerfulness that could cause anyone to call him out on it. After all, so much time had passed that he could only assume most ill feelings were dead and buried. Or so one could hope. 

He hadn’t really followed her career, but stumbled upon quite a few episodes of her show. As well as he should have, what with its duration and almost icon status in the media. “I’ve been working. You know how that goes.” A nomination somewhere, a win elsewhere, and him managing with his public persona of a bringer of good fortune. For some reason. “Nothing quite as remarkable as dipping my toes into your territory. TV, that is. How has it been treating you?”

I’ve been in so many crazy experiences in my life. I was always moving, when I was a kid. When I look back, it’s hard for me not to feel that certain things just happen for a reason. I don’t know. I have no other explanation. (x)

“So, do you still prefer drinks with cherries on top?” His tone was nonchalant as he approached the person his mind still refused to refer to as his ex-wife, one drink held in each of his hands. If there was anything he could maneuver around, that was throngs of people trashing about. He thought he might have even spotted a dance battle way back over there. “I mean, if you don’t, it’s still going to get drank. But it’d be better for Perez or whoever’s hot these days if you actually did like your drink.” That was a roundabout way of saying he’d gone out of his way to get her something. Not that @sloaneketterling appeared to be currently needing anything.

Something he hadn’t been able to experience fully, or in such large a scale, was the type of camaraderie that formed among casts of productions that ran longer than movies. Sure, the latter took a while to complete, but roughly half of that time was devoted to production processes where actors had little input - if any at all. So it was rare, to put it bluntly, that he had found so quickly comfortable while promoting the show against @cvlloways. As though he’d known the other his whole life. Switching on the smile he was paid to show off, he put one hand very lightly on his co-star’s back, letting him walk ahead throughout the doorway. “I don’t know what we did to deserve so many locker room scenes, but my stomach’s howling for a pizza. You in?” he asked, eyebrows flying up, tone low enough that it wouldn’t be picked up by anybody that could feel left out of it.

While the idea of running his lines over and over in his head until they stopped making any sense at all was extremely tempting... there was no holding back the interested tilt of his head as he listened to the younger male’s suggestion. “I’ll say only a very foolish person would say no to some wine and thai. I know you enough to know your wine options are always top shelf, Santos. What time do you get off and should I call a cab?” he asked, almost ready to put his script down right then and there.

“ HEY, what are you doing later?” connor asked, peeking his head around the corner of the doorway as the words left his mouth. his day had been longer than anticipated, and with the next two days off, he desperately wanted some relaxation time. preferably with company. “i’m planning on having an x-files marathon of my own. i’ve got, like, three bottles of wine and i’m totally down for ordering some thai food. so, what do you say?”

“Huh.” Sasha scanned the flyer, his gaze going from it towards the actor handing them out with just the barest hint of suspicion. “Is there a sort of dress code or uniform for a beach clean-up? How much of the beach are we hoping to get done, here? That’s kind of a huge deal breaker for me, you should know.”

“we’re organizing a beach clean-up for this weekend,” he said, holding up the tablet with the virtual flyer on it. it seemed silly to hand out paper fliers when they could very easily end up crumpled up and on the ground; he wasn’t sure why nobody else had thought of it first. he scrolled down and held out the tablet to the person in front of him, the empty boxes waiting for their contact info. “can i count you in?”

the paparazzi have spotted ALEXANDRU 'SASHA' MATEI, the THIRTY-FIVE year old ACTOR who’s currently working as SETH KOPACZ on PALOMA GENERAL. the tabloids have called them CHARMING and MAGNETIC, but also BLUNT and RECKLESS. during their time in the spotlight, they’ve been dubbed the TALISMAN.

you’re only allowed to try and call him by his full name if you’ve given birth to him or he’s been married to you (i don’t make the rules)

((by that i mean it’s only his mother and @sloaneketterling who can do that bc surprise surprise she’s his ex wife))

but he has the reason that most people butcher the pronunciation because it’s not the same as Alexander and it’s not the same as Alexandrew so pls just call him Sasha

so Sasha’s been acting for a good long while (he says), since the tender age of an awkward 15 year old kiddo with too much sass for his own good and an easiness on cameras that didn’t go unnoticed

(of course, when he was younger, the faultier parts of his behavior were brushed off as him being ‘just a boy’ so nobody ever really did a good job at calming that down heh)

he was 21 when he met one Sloane Ketterling during the filming of the movie ‘The Gap Year’, and he was then 22 when they got married. by the age of 27, the divorce had been finalized -- both of their careers suffering a bit of a hit with the publicity that followed (in a completely unagreed upon move, both of them plus their respective pr teams refused to comment on any part of the marriage and subsequent divorce. it was their decision to keep their private life private and, whenever the subject was so much as hinted towards, it’d be more than enough for Sasha to end the interview or whatever happened to have lead into it)

not that he was ever truly out of work -- one of his most celebrated films had the man playing a war hero, his battle through it all and the resulting emotional scars from the events leading him to an accolade of awards and nominations

it didn’t particularly cross his mind that he’d run back into his ex wife when he walked into the audition for Paloma General, his knowledge of the role itself being minimal outside of it being one of the leads. and, alright, cross paths they’ve had, always keeping a civil and slightly cordial camaraderie to keep vultures from dragging everything back up to the surface

he’s enjoying the role, the personality of Dr. Seth Kopacz one that he feels comfortable with, and the steadiness of the regular appearances. his last serious tv roles had been in his early to mid twenties, but his schedule is open enough to slot in any worthy movies if he’s to come across them

The thing that kinda blows my mind all the time is like, sorta at conventions or even sometimes on the street I’ll run into people who actually have come back from war and have experienced Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, they’ll come and say to me: “you know, it’s so interesting watching this because it really brings me back, or makes me feel better about some things, or it’s helped me dealt with certain things in my life”, so even though they’re comic book movies, there’s sort of this other layer to it that I think it’s full of other depth, so to speak.
