One of the ways to minimise the attempts to steal the narrative is to own it.
Attached is a list of journalists/photographers who are connected to traditional media in SA, particularly in CPT/WC. Many of them are apparently willing to cover what's actually going on and receive statements from mobilisations involved, rather than repeat whatever narrative seems popular in the rest of the press at the time.
Please share this if it's useful.

TUTOR STUDENTS FOR EXAMS
"Now it's time to #protestnpass. We're mobilising academic back up forces for tutor support before exams. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee that we can reach everywhere and assist with all courses, but we'll try our best. We will match students with tutors based on location, year of study and degree/course." https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1S0cFU9VH5sgILq9k0-Il96SxNF2mM06MOFeyqYNCvhM/viewform?fbzx=2687500597500270482 #ProtestAndPass #DecentraliseEducation #DecoloniseEducation

WORKERS AT UCT
One of the costs of education is borne by exploited workers who are essential to the functioning of our universities. Another cost is borne by students. And it's disproportionately borne by the poorest students. This is unjust! The burden of education costs should fall on richer students exclusively. In fact, #FreeEducation must be given to anyone whose education is financially constrained. Free education does not just mean "no tuition fees". It means stipends for working class students that are sufficient to make it as easy for a working class student to come to UCT as it is for a rich student. And it goes without saying that the same principles that lead to us calling for free education make us call for education to not be delivered at the cost of the lives of those who work for us on campus. The university has constructed a false dichotomy between insourcing and decreasing the burden on financial aid students. However, rather than a contradiction, they share the same root: the reproduction of wealth inequality and the commodification of education, and thus clearly share the same solution as well. UCT must become a decolonised public African university. *** Here are the bank details for the workers solidarity fund: Workers Solidarity Fund Task Team Account number: 073576093 Standard Bank Rondebosch Branch code: 051001 PayPal: [email protected]
