"I would know him..."
Artist: @patrochilles-or-bust (me!)
"You put your favorite guy as last" YEAH I DID! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! So if you knew me before my Hades Patroclus era, you knew that I was (and am) a big The Song of Achilles girlie. And I've told the story before, but long short of it, it was where I had my revelation that I could imagine Patroclus as Black and it did marvels for my experience with the book. Baby's first step to CBC!
While reading TSOA (and absolutely 100% confirmed in The Iliad) I had the feeling that Patroclus was severely underselling himself (so naturally fandom would do the same in comparison to a blonde). I pictured a really gentle, beautiful Black man with soft brown eyes and a doe like presence that belied a strong, sturdy structure- banished he may have been, he was still a crown prince! Behold! A brunette with brown eyes!
I'm honestly super proud of myself- one of the things I always wanted to learn to draw for was to draw the Patroclus in my mind from that time. Three years in... I did it! And he's, quoth Homer himself, "godlike"!
Marble version:

Strong believer in Roche being in his mid 30s and aging drastically during the events of tw2/tw3. He spends a few months in that damp cave and his body starts failing him. Arthritis in wrists, fucked up knees, heart weakened from exhaustion and starvation and despair. Stomach issues from a poor diet and stress. He can't afford the luxury of seeing a healer. Besides, he refuses to leave his post for something as trivial as his well-being. On bad days, he lets himself drink enough to dull the aches, but he knows it is a slippery slope. When he sees himself in the mirror in Passiflora, he doesn't recognize himself.

oh i never know how to explain this properly but i looooooooooooooooove when a story just absolutely TELLS you something and it’s so obvious it goes right by you. like the equivalent of hiding in plain sight. i’m thinking in the original cut(?) of alien where they showed the full xenomorph, crouched and ready to pounce, but because we’ve never seen it before, we can’t tell what it is and interpret it as part of the spaceship. or it’s a detail that seems so out of place or wildly insane that you automatically ignore it and assume you misinterpreted until that exact detail comes back in a big way? (like when noah the raven boy flat out tells everyone he’s a ghost and they take it as a joke, so the reader does too) is there a tvtropes name for this i’m obsessed with it

IORWETH ERA NEVER ENDED
I don't know what I've done, this one is weird and kinda raw, but I like it so much!
Maybe in time I'll figure out how to make something truly breathtaking out of this sketch (I hope so!!!!!)

“Maybe I shouldn’t push my luck,” he said. “I wish you wouldn’t,” Costis said faintly. “Your god might be offended.” ― Megan Whalen Turner, The King of Attolia

It was a kiss between a man and his wife, and when it was over, the king closed his eyes and rested his forehead against the hollow of the queen’s shoulder, like a man seeking respite, like a man reaching home at the end of the day.
hi, i'm very cool and normal about these books, don't worry about me

so itchio has shadowbanned any games tagged with 'nsfw', 'adult', or 'erotic' so they don't show up in searches, and several devs have reported that their r18 games have been removed from the site with no warning
you know, maybe the internet shouldn’t be controlled by payment processors and terf lobbyists. and maybe people should be more concerned about this rise of censorship on queer media.
