Magic in LaVeyan Satanism
Magic in LaVeyan Satanism is a unique concept deeply rooted in psychology, symbolism, and the philosophy of social rebellion. In Anton LaVey’s works, magic is presented not as something supernatural, but as a tool for self-development and achieving personal goals. It is divided into “white” and “black” magic, emphasizing an egoistic, personal magic aimed at enhancing one’s own life and extending influence.
The primary rituals described in The Satanic Rituals are amplified through the use of symbols that evoke strong emotional responses. This approach is similar to Carl Jung’s ideas, who described archetypes and the collective unconscious as powerful symbolic images capable of influencing the psyche. LaVey applies this method, endowing rituals with potent symbolism that impacts the consciousness of participants.
Moreover, LaVeyan magic is closely linked to manipulation, social play, and psychological techniques. In The Satanic Witch, magic is considered from the perspective of influencing others and managing perception. This is less of a mystical practice and more an art of managing social relationships and knowing how to influence others by exploiting their weaknesses and stereotypes.
Historically, as shown in The Golden Bough by James Frazer and in the works of Aleister Crowley, magic has always had roots in ancient rituals and archetypes, which LaVey reinterpreted and adapted to modernity. These symbolic and cultural motifs, referencing earlier occult traditions, were reimagined by LaVey through a philosophy of personal freedom, also reflected in Prometheus Unbound by Percy Bysshe Shelley.
Scientific studies such as Modern Satanism by Chris Mathews and Contemporary Religious Satanism by Jesper Petersen also reveal how LaVeyan Satanism and its magic transformed public perceptions of occultism. LaVey’s approach to magic presents it not merely as a practice, but as an ideological expression of rebellion against societal norms, fostering individualism and self-sufficiency.
Conclusion
LaVeyan magic is a multifaceted phenomenon, where the philosophy of freedom, psychology, and manipulation intertwine with symbolism and ritual. It does not require belief in the supernatural but focuses on the practical application of magic as a tool for self-improvement and influence over others. LaVeyan magic is a means of achieving power and control, grounded in an understanding of human nature and a drive for personal superiority.

I Am One: On the Importance of Independence in Learning
Let me start by saying that for many members of this channel, I have become a mentor, a teacher, a friend, and sometimes just an ordinary ignoramus. My intentions are pure, and the sole purpose that has become my "cross" to bear is to encourage people towards independence. I receive messages from a wide variety of people: teenagers with age-related problems, entrepreneurs with financial dilemmas, employees of various government bodies asking for help. Each of you believes in my comprehensive development; each received an answer if the question was genuinely complex. Even the most primitive questions found their answers, sometimes in a slightly rough form, but with a clear reference to where to look or what to do.
Why is Independence in Learning Important?
Every piece of information received by a person is first processed through the prism of their personal experience. Listening to music, for example, a strange melody for one person becomes an excellent way to escape routine for a moment for another (escapism). Everyone seeks unique sounds and various stimuli in music or information that make them experience emotions. Independently, you will come to conclusions based on your life experience. Afterward, you will always have the opportunity to discuss what you have read.
Motivation and Satisfaction
Independence in this matter brings pleasure; when you find an answer or solve a difficult problem on your own, it not only strengthens your confidence but also motivates you to continue. This process strengthens your will and perseverance in learning.
Individuality of Perception
Only if you study scientific articles or literature on your own can you develop your own uniqueness. You will overcome a unique path of learning. Over time, you will realize that there are no limits; you are not constrained by others' intellectual capabilities and peculiarities of perception.
Remember, you are the only one you truly have. Do not let someone else's "experience," based on others' words, become your life's guide.

Three Obstacles to Personal Growth
Procrastination
Doesn’t it seem like we tend to overthink? We constantly ponder different scenarios: "What if...," "What might happen...," instead of taking concrete actions. Rather than taking the first step in the right direction, we immerse ourselves in analysis, forecasting, and planning. This constant thinking and building of ideal strategies prevent us from moving forward and achieving what we desire.
Blame
The habit of blaming anything and everything for our failures, except ourselves, is also a significant barrier to personal growth. People who haven’t achieved success in life often have a long list of external reasons for their failures. It’s easier for them to find the sources of their problems outside themselves than to take responsibility for their own actions and decisions.
Justification
When we start justifying ourselves, it signals that we feel guilty about a certain situation. Justifications are closely related to blame and serve as the third barrier to our growth. If you are truly doing everything in your power, you will have no reason for justifications. Taking responsibility for your actions and avoiding justifications help overcome these obstacles and contribute to personal growth.

Three Powerful Psychological Effects That Deeply Influence Our Behavior
The more choices, the harder it is to be satisfied with the decision
This phenomenon, known as the "paradox of choice," describes a situation where an abundance of options leads to difficulty in making a decision and decreased satisfaction with the outcome. Even if our final decision is objectively correct, the sheer number of available options can cause what’s known as "cognitive dissonance"—an internal conflict and doubt about the correctness of the choice. This happens because we start to think about the other, possibly better alternatives we might have missed. As a result, even the most successful purchases or decisions can leave a lingering sense of dissatisfaction.
The more people around, the less likely you are to get help
This effect, known in psychology as the "bystander effect" or "diffusion of responsibility," is related to the phenomenon of social indifference in situations requiring intervention. When a large number of people are present during a critical situation, the responsibility to provide help is "spread out" among all witnesses. Each person tends to think that someone else will take care of the victim or take the initiative. This leads to a paralysis of action—the more people observing the situation, the less likely it is that anyone will take action. The psychological inertia caused by the bystander effect is often explained by the lack of a clear sense of personal responsibility in group contexts.
Your mistakes are less noticeable than you think
The feeling that you are constantly being watched and judged is linked to the "spotlight effect"—a cognitive bias in which a person exaggerates the extent to which their actions and mistakes are noticed by others. This phenomenon is often accompanied by the "illusion of transparency"—the belief that our emotions and mistakes are obvious to others. However, the reality is that people are generally focused on themselves and their own issues, and pay much less attention to others' slip-ups than we assume. Understanding this cognitive distortion can help reduce anxiety and alleviate the fear of making mistakes, fostering more confident and relaxed social interactions.

How to Develop Willpower: A Psychological Approach
Avoid Procrastination
Procrastination is the enemy of willpower. Every delay, every moment of hesitation weakens your ability to exercise self-control. Research shows that consistently putting off actions undermines self-confidence and creates a vicious cycle where success becomes increasingly elusive. The best way to strengthen your willpower is to take action immediately. Don’t wait for perfect conditions; they’re likely never going to come. Act here and now, even if the circumstances seem less than ideal.
Embrace Unpleasant Tasks
The human brain gravitates toward comfort, avoiding difficulties and opting for easy tasks. However, this pursuit of comfort is a trap that hinders the achievement of larger goals. Psychologists assert that tackling challenging or unpleasant tasks builds discipline and resilience. Develop the habit of starting with the most unpleasant tasks, and over time, willpower will become your natural state. This will not only increase your productivity but also boost your confidence in your own abilities.
Define Clear Goals and Beliefs
Willpower is closely tied to a clear understanding of what you want to achieve. If your goal is vague or if you don’t believe in the possibility of achieving it, it will be difficult to mobilize the inner resources needed for success. Psychological studies confirm that belief in success is a key component of willpower. Clearly visualizing your goals, understanding their importance, and genuinely believing in your abilities will strengthen your determination and help you overcome obstacles.

Religions and Satanism: Why Might Satanists Be More Conflict-Prone?
Norms and values are often imposed from outside, preserved, and steeped in their own delusions for centuries, sometimes even thousands of years. A mentally healthy person with critical thinking and independence will inevitably enter into various conflicts with an inadequate environment. A Satanist is primarily a realist who understands the diversity of human nature and recognizes that others may react negatively to what does not align with their worldview.
Some traditions retain their meaning and do not cause harm, but more often in radical religious communities, they can have a colossal negative impact on all aspects of a person's life.
Satanism teaches that each person is their own god and has the sole right to determine their destiny. LaVey emphasized the importance of awareness of one's own power and independence. It is usually this element that puts Satanists in opposition. When a mentally healthy person finds themselves in a family dominated by outdated traditions and dogmas, conflicts are inevitable. Therefore, they will not blindly obey authorities or other traditions if they are not symbolic and contradict their beliefs.
This discrepancy with the "standard" often leads to misunderstanding and sometimes contempt from other religions.
Psychology tells us about differences in levels of maturity and emotional stability. A mentally healthy person strives for honesty, openness, and self-expression, while in a stagnant environment, dogmatism and control prevail. As a result, a healthy person becomes a "white crow" whose behavior and thoughts will provoke aggression, as they literally destroy what others are afraid to stop believing in due to the time invested.
It's no secret that most cultural and religious dogmas serve as a brake on progress. For example, think of India. For centuries, they have remained at the same level of development due to the fear of discovering that their entire faith is a mere slave collar that simultaneously keeps them at the same level and gives false comfort—"everyone does it, so it must be true, and I will be reincarnated or go to heaven."
In conclusion, a mentally healthy person becomes a beacon of truth and common sense. LaVey's principles of Satanism—realism, individualism, and independence—provide a powerful tool for overcoming these conflicts and achieving inner peace. Remember, true freedom begins with recognizing your own power and the right to your own path.

The Strongest Rat or Human Cannibalism?
Imagine you live in the mansion of your dreams and are immensely pleased with it. At some point, you notice rats but pay no attention to it. Meanwhile, the number of rodents increases, and it becomes clear that they are ruining the ambiance and starting to annoy you. First, it's torn wallpaper, scratched parquet, then shredded belongings, and damaged interior attributes. In some places, there's even rat droppings everywhere.
We catch the strongest and most aggressive rats in an iron bucket and leave them for a couple of weeks. When we open the bucket, we find a single survivor, having eaten all the others out of hunger. From now on, we have a true rat predator, as all it feeds on now is its own kind.
In the world, we observe not just rat fights—we are participants in this bloody game ourselves. Unwittingly drawn in and defiled by deceitful media, we are considered the most fearsome beasts in their eyes because we are not them.
Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Pagans—all of them are fighting for the title of the strongest.
The meaning of the struggle has long been lost, and the truth forgotten. The main goal remains to prove who is the "strongest rat cannibal." Fortunately, there is a difference between rat fights and the real world. And it lies in using cunning, intelligence, and resourcefulness, as well as ruthlessness when necessary.
While many think: "There is no place for the weak in this world. Those who are ready to be with God will be at the top," there are also those who ask: "What is this summit if the path to it is strewn with the remains of kin? They all have one summit, but each is sure that their version is the one at the top?"
The absurdity of the situation is that none of these rats strive to climb up. They all frantically run around in circles of hatred and evil, repeatedly trying to prove their "rightness" to others. A true paradox.
In this hellish cauldron, there are no winners or losers. There are victims devouring each other over differing opinions, and those who decided to rise above this religious dance of absurdity. The former feed on fear and hatred for each other, desperately wanting to become "closer to God." And each of them forgets that their God did not bequeath this to them.
In the shadow of our own kind, we can see the true essence: it is not religion or moral norms that drive us, but pure and unadulterated desire for power and control. In this battle, everyone reveals their beastly nature, calling upon primal instincts. Truly, man is nothing but the greatest predator.
The fight will be long. Remember, the true predator is not the largest or the strongest, but the most cunning and devious.

The Pros and Cons of LaVeyan Satanism: An Outsider's Perspective
Let's get straight to the most important and interesting points today.
Pros:
1. Personal Responsibility and Self-Discipline
LaVeyan doctrine focuses the individual on themselves and teaches them to accept bitterness and sorrow, joy and laughter on a personal level. This approach promotes the development of a strong character, the ability to achieve any goals through any obstacles, and to withstand all life's hardships. LaVeyan Satanism can be seen as one of the most powerful tools for personal growth and self-realization.
2. Strengthening and Enhancing Critical Thinking
Another central pillar of LaVeyanism is skepticism and critical thinking. This aspect teaches a person to analyze the surrounding reality and make more reasoned decisions, not falling for manipulators' tricks and blind faith.
3. Self-Expression and Individualism
Our path elevates individualism and self-expression to the level of the highest virtue. Together with sins, this aspect leads to deeper self-knowledge and life satisfaction. When a person is free from the shackles of others' expectations and standards, they gain a form of freedom.
4. Pragmatism and Secularity
We focus on the material and the worldly, discarding everything to concentrate on current goals and achievements. This approach helps deal with the myriad superstitions that drain many people's energy.
Cons:
1. Feeling of Helplessness
Yes, this is something everyone on the left-hand path may face. When a person relies only on themselves and no one else, they can be helpless in situations requiring collective action. Remember, no matter how much you love yourself or solitude, cooperation and mutual aid can become essential. In the chat and channel comments, you can always find someone with similar interests.
2. Egocentrism
By consistently choosing yourself over others, you might easily lose everything by seeing yourself as the center of the universe. Keep this in mind.
3. Focus on the Material
This can also make us overlook the emotional aspects of life, which can lead to inner emptiness. Be cautious.
4. Social Isolation or Loss of Close Connections with People
No detailed explanation needed here, as anyone who climbs higher in any aspect sees less of those who are just starting to rise and forgets how hard it can be. Remember, the higher you climb towards the stars, the stronger your roots need to be to maintain your connection to the ground from which you grew.
These are just the main eight components of LaVeyan Satanism's nature. What pros and cons have you noticed? Share your observations with newcomers in the comments.

Accusations Against Satan.
The main "guilt" attributed to Satan by myths is that he "tempts" people by giving them knowledge and opportunities for which they are not ready. But the immediate question arises: who exactly is not ready for Satan's temptations?
The level of development varies greatly among different people. And Satanism is the philosophy of those who are ahead of their time, who consider themselves ready for what most of humanity is not yet prepared for.
If a Satanist encounters facts that do not align with their views, they will readily change their views to conform to reality.
The false "consistency" common to many people (i.e., the desire to maintain their initial views despite everything) is completely alien to a Satanist.
Satanism involves relationships of mutually beneficial exchange between individuals.
"Conscience," "altruism," "moral duty," and other prejudices that require a person to do something "for free" are not characteristic of a Satanist. Everything must be paid for. It is not necessarily required to "pay" in the monetary sense; any reciprocal service, beneficial change in circumstances – this is also payment.
In their relationships with people, a Satanist also strives to ensure these relationships are mutually beneficial and satisfying for both parties. They usually treat people the way they are treated. A Satanist does not take offense and does not forgive insults – such emotional reactions are foreign to them. They simply draw conclusions for themselves: what a particular person is capable of, and whether it is worth maintaining any relationship with that person.
A Satanist is not an enemy of society, nor a member of society; they stand aside. Societal interests – politics, economics, etc. – concern them only when they affect their own interests. Their own interests always take precedence over those of others; Satanism is the worldview of rational egoists.
What is rational egoism? It is the egoism of reason and will, not of emotions. Egoism in serious matters, not in trifles; egoism that calculates the situation in advance and is ready to forgo immediate benefits for greater benefits in the future – this is the egoism of a Satanist. This does not imply that a Satanist ignores the interests of others; they will willingly meet someone halfway if it also serves their own interests.

The Grand Design or the Set of a Self-Deceived Masochist.
Gods, higher powers, faith, and trials - a set for a successful masochist in our time, which raises enough questions and reflections among people accustomed to taking responsibility for their actions. Today I want to draw your attention to those who have turned their lives into a real hell but still thank "something" for the trials.
Some sapiens, despite all the difficulties, illnesses, and torments, continue to believe that all their failures, based on their inexperience, are nothing but a "grand design," usually attributed to the Lord.
Yes, your failure in exams is indeed God's plan, not your incompetence.
Regardless of the type of suffering, whether physical or moral, they are convinced that it all makes sense and helps them escape from reality.
Encountering such people in life, I suggested they consider alternative viewpoints. However, they horrifiedly rejected them because it could shatter their beautiful, enclosed world into pieces. Changing their worldview requires actions that seem impermissible to them. It reminds me of the words of Anton Shandor LaVey about 95% of the population.
Satanism in any form has always compelled a person to consciously approach life, to accept all joys, hardships, and difficulties with pride. After all, in the philosophy of the left-hand path, the responsibility lies first and foremost with oneself. The self-deception in which most people exist is an example of how far we have strayed from wild beasts.
Satanists strive for true self-awareness and self-understanding, without resorting to comforting illusions. We accept our weaknesses and strengths, our mistakes and achievements, without trying to justify ourselves to others or to ourselves.
«A person raised in the spirit of self-awareness and responsibility sees in trials (failures) not confirmation of higher powers but only their own strength and resilience.»

Correcting someone else's mistakes?
Initially a foolish idea, except in cases where the person genuinely desires it. Today, let's talk about energy vampires and their usual "diets." They're cunning and skilled but fall prostrate at the sight of a Satanist. For all new participants and adept investigators, this post will contain quite useful information.
Who are "Energy Vampires"?
— This term is typically used metaphorically to describe individuals who absorb energy, life force, or positive emotions from others, leaving them worn out, depleted, or even depressed.
They're easy to spot; they tend to seek attention, criticize your actions, make absurdity out of anything that doesn't align with their opinion, whether it's hobbies, life plans, or simple interaction with others, but not with them.
A vivid example of a strong draining vampire could be your egocentric boss or a terribly jealous partner.
Best ways to eradicate the negative influence of such individuals:
1. Establishing and defending personal boundaries:
One of the key aspects of Satanism. You must determine what is acceptable to you and what is not and set clear boundaries with others.
2. Rejecting influence:
It's important to learn to reject negative influences and emotional pressure from energy vampires. This may include the ability to restrain emotions and not allow others to affect your emotional state.
3. Self-respect:
You must be your own example, remember all your merits and achievements, and not let others tarnish them. Develop a multitude of achievements.
4. Taking control of oneself:
Satanists advocate taking responsibility for one's life and actions. This means that you must strive for self-awareness, recognize your strengths and weaknesses, and manage your reactions to the surrounding world. Control can vary from emotional to financial. It's not always easy to spot them when the vampire wears a mask of kindness and caring.
If something about someone else's behavior doesn't suit you, lay all your cards on the table immediately.
"Energy vampires" don't change; their entire life is built on feeding off your well-being with the sole purpose of exhausting you, making you just like them. Particularly sophisticated ones, deprived of enough attention in childhood, are even ready to provide for you with the sole purpose of controlling and feeding off your negativity; for them, it's "nothing," but you're already "indebted."
Remember, your life is in your hands; don't let others have more influence on it than you want, or fall into the trap of controlling your well-being.
Hint: If you feel dependent on another, and it weighs you down, you're already trapped in their influence.

Answer to the question regarding my journey to Satanism.
Recalling moments from my childhood, I remember that my parents were quite religious, and I always questioned who God was and what his purpose was. However, since I was only nine years old, I couldn't fundamentally contemplate this question and asked people older than me what they thought about it.
The answers varied, but they all shared one motif - after death, for sins, you'll go to hell, where there will be cauldrons, demons, and so on. (Everyone around me was believers.) As the years went by, I became more and more doubtful because what was called "sin" was permissible for everyone if they went to the priest afterward, gave him money, and confessed their sins. I understood that even for a free religion, money was needed, and that a person cannot avoid these sins themselves.
At roughly the same age, I discovered the word "atheist" for myself and stopped going to church under any pretext. My parents reacted negatively to this because with my chronic illnesses, I had to visit the church until that moment to "recover." As you understand, nothing of the sort happened, and to this day, I remain with the same health issues. However, unlike the times when I believed in miracle healing through prayers, now, being a Satanist and ardently adhering to life's views, I have become much healthier. To delve into details, exacerbations and spontaneous attacks of my illnesses have ceased, and I no longer carry medicine with me. However, doctors' opinions about my health have not changed.
At the age of fourteen, after becoming closely acquainted with the word "Death," I began to understand my actions instead of childish pranks, and started reading a lot of literature from exact sciences to Nietzsche, then decided to revisit religions and search for answers to my questions. After reading their "sacred" books, I came to the following conclusion. In my eyes, religions began to look like instruments of control and management over people, rather than a source of spiritual enlightenment. I realized that many religious doctrines contradict scientific facts and logical reasoning.
For example, the teaching that the world was created in 7 days, when in reality, it took millions of years for the formation of the planet Earth. Or the teaching that man is the center of the universe when in reality, we live on a tiny planet in a vast Universe. I began to ponder about the meaning of life and what happens after death. But unlike religion, I did not find answers in mythical beings and heavenly kingdoms. I decided to seek answers in scientific and philosophical works, as well as in my inner world.
When I learned about Satanism, many of its principles seemed logical to me and aligned with my views on life. For example, the idea that each person chooses their own path and is responsible for their actions, as well as the principles, rules, commandments, and sins.
In conclusion, after years of observation from childhood, I came to the conclusion that the favorite pastime of religious people is shifting their responsibility onto God. Whether it works out or not, it's all "God's will," they cannot realize that all their failures are due to their own incompetence, and words like self-blame, self-criticism, and the like are unknown to them. All failures are seen as tests from God.
End of story.

A bit of psychology:
Internal/external thinking.
This post, I want to dedicate to all the people who worry about the opinions of others.
Most successful people think internally. In this mindset, well-being depends solely on them.
Several advantages of this thinking:
- Self-regulation. It allows a person to control their emotions, behavior, reactions. The ability to adapt to stress and unexpected conditions.
- Planning. Before doing anything, you need to think, right? In this case, an internal dialogue plays out in the head, which helps to consider the situation from different angles.
- Critical thinking. Thanks to the dialogue with oneself, critical thinking develops. The main thing is to remain objective.
- Creative process. Again, thanks to internal dialogue and reflection, a person can derive inspiration and energy from themselves.
In psychology, this trait of personality is called internal locus of control.
Weak people usually shift responsibility onto others, even in their failures, and blame everyone but themselves. They demonstrate an example of an external locus of control.
As long as you are dependent on the opinions of others, you cannot live happily. When emotionally strong people create, they cannot be shaken by sarcastic comments or superficial judgments.
"Between me and 'I' there should be no third," -«Thus Spoke Zarathustra».

On April 11, 1930, a man was born who once introduced the concept of Satanism to the world. He was unafraid of millions of sideways glances, words, and even threats.
He became an example to many, and to this day, even after his death, he remains a terrifying nightmare to religious communities of that time.
Today would have marked the 94th birthday of the High Priest Anton Szandor LaVey, the founder of the Church of Satan, and the author of many books.

"Magical" "Thinking"
The idea of "magical thinking" is a dangerous and unscientific belief that undermines the foundations of rational thinking and violates the principles of logic and empirical research. The danger often lies in individuals of this category inclined to propagate their views on life, leading to small sectarian formations and financial exploitation through "intimidation" of fools (clients), as well as attracting new "followers" to repeat the chain of dissemination.
This approach involves accepting ideas or beliefs without proper scientific justification, relying solely on subjective experience, personal prejudices, and emotional convictions. In essence, "magical thinking" contradicts the principles of the scientific method and violates the principles of logical reasoning.
The problem with this is that it often leads to distorted perceptions of reality and contributes to the spread of false beliefs, as well as the development of various psychological diagnoses that can lead to "delusions." People prone to such thinking may and will ignore facts and scientific evidence in favor of their own beliefs, leading to a distortion of reality and hindering the development of scientific knowledge.
Furthermore, this "thinking" can hinder the development of society as it undermines trust in the scientific method and promotes the spread of unscientific ideas. This can lead to serious consequences, including limiting scientific progress, deteriorating quality of life, and infringing on human rights. (In extreme cases, taking the final form of religion).
Overall, such "thinking" represents a mindset that should be fought against and countered through enlightenment, education, and scientific opinion.
However, it is essential to realize that overcoming this problem requires efforts not only from society as a whole but also from each individual in the struggle for sound and reasoned thinking.

Magic and Secret Knowledge or Powerlessness in the Face of Reality?
People easily turn to magic because they seek a way to escape from the harsh reality, which often seems ruthless and hopeless. Sorcery offers them solace and the opportunity to feel in control of forces that otherwise seem uncontrollable. Magical spells and rituals create an illusion of power and protection against the challenges we face in everyday life.
One of the main motivations driving people to resort to magic is fear of the unknown and the inevitability of our own insignificance. In a world where we constantly encounter disappointments, losses, and injustices, magic becomes a kind of refuge where one can find some consolation and order. Instead of accepting their vulnerability and changing themselves, people prefer to immerse themselves in a world of fantasies where they can become heroes of their own fabricated story.
But despite all the spells and amulets, reality remains ruthless and relentless. No matter how hard they try to hide under the cover of magic, they still have to face the fact that we are merely tiny particles in an infinite world. Magic may bring temporary relief, but it cannot change the essence of our existence or overcome the real challenges we face every day.
Escaped slaves will always stand out because slavery is deeply ingrained in their souls. They may rid themselves of the chains of spiritual subjugation, but they will inevitably find others, so-called "magical" ones. After years of subjugation, slaves crave power, but their pathetic insignificance and limited souls prevent them from achieving anything meaningful. They are left only to resort to pseudo-scientific mystical practices to find some meaning in their worthless existence.
If magic remains, according to LaVey, a psychosomatic element for boosting one's spirits and desires, for escaped slaves, it becomes the meaning of life. They build their entire lives around stars, numbers, fortune-telling, and other nonsense, endowing it with "meaning" and appointing themselves the owners of "secret knowledge."
An escaped slave - (context for this post) - is a person who has exchanged one spiritual bondage for another, which, in his "opinion," is true.

We need to stand on our own feet and face the world head-on—with all its good and bad, beautiful and ugly aspects. See the world as it is and not be afraid of it. Conquer the world with reason, not with slave-like submission to the fears it generates. The concept of God is borrowed from ancient Eastern despotisms and is utterly unworthy of free people.
When you hear people in church demean themselves, claiming to be miserable sinners, it seems demeaning and unworthy of self-respecting human beings. We should stand tall and look openly at the world. Take everything the world can offer, and if it proves to be less than we desire, in the end, we will still receive more than others have taken from the world throughout the centuries. A good world needs knowledge and courage; it doesn't need mournful regret for the past or the enslaved confinement of free minds by words thrown around by ignorant people in times long gone.
A good world needs a fearless gaze and a free mind. It needs hope for the future, not endless reflections on a past that has already died and, we believe, will be far surpassed by the future that can be created by our minds.
