ESSENCE 4 SIDE STORY - Step and Lime

(Owl first realized his natural talent for alchemy shortly after Tristan took him in.)

As a condition for funding his detective agency, Tristan took a disheveled Owl into the city to turn him into a proper gentleman.

He smiled as Owl donned a camel-colored coat, and the role of “detective” along with it, reminiscing about unchanging violet eyes.

This is a side story of the time when an adoptive father and son started a detective agency.

The alleyway was lined on either side by old brick buildings. Every day rain fell in sheets as thick as fog, painting the gray cobblestone roads black. An organ grinder played his music in a tucked-away corner of the street, and next to him a woman hawked her meat pies to passersby. She said the meat in question was chicken; the truth was anyone’s guess.

My heart was so full from the way Miri smiled in this scene when she showed the piece of paper that said family

There is something so different about this smile; it’s not her usual bright, playful, happy smile. This smile is an reassurance; she had no doubt in her mind that Rei is family, and she’s proud to have him as her papa.
