Kinda missing Uncle Eddie today. I remember crying scared of his singing trophy fish, Big Mouth Billy Bass. He often wore that uncle signature socks and sandals combo, had aussie hunting hats, a collection of fish baits, and tech books that are later on gonna be annihilated by termites. On his leisure time he would take his rifle and go to the mountains to shoot birds, and graft young trees together but they usually die (I think). I also miss his wife, Tita Norma, who would cuddle with me in bed and unintentionally teach me beauty tips in her 60s. They were religious but of different religions, and sometimes it'd be funny when they subtly beef. They died a month apart; Uncle Eddie died of heart attack while going down the stairs, and Tita Norma would call us telling he's haunting her everyday. It was around the end of the year, when her gardener reported she asked them to bring her to the hospital and on the way she fell into a coma and died of aneurysm. I will sip my morning coffee today reminiscing my favorite Uncle and Tita's memories.

Woke up at 2AM, with compulsive ruminations flooding my brain the second I wore consciousness. For about fifteen minutes I laid awake staring at the dim ceiling feeling the heaviness of life. I couldn't sleep. Out of boredom I read "Some People Need Killing" by Patricia Evangelista.
Fifty one pages later, at 3:32AM, I found myself oddly feeling alive, and a lingering thought about one of her chapter's conclusion.
"Once upon a time, we were heroes."
