It’s like talking about alters as “whole people” makes DID more palatable for others somehow.  If they can view us as just this quirky cast of characters who happen to share a body then it’s less sad, or maybe even less disturbing. They can reframe it into something that might even sound fun or beneficial to them, like “3 friends for the price of 1!”
I’m starting to think that viewing us as one whole traumatized person with many dissociated parts is just too depressing and too “weird” for a lot of people. It’s harder for them to wrap their heads around. They can’t grasp the way we are both disconnected from each other and still a part of each other. They can’t make sense of the way we overlap and blend together. We don’t fit into neat little boxes. We aren’t a straight forward cast of characters.

yo seriously anyone who says shipping marc and steven is disgusting or “selfcest” are just being ableist and uneducated.
especially the “selfcest” thing like no me steven and marc arent the same person were all seperate fuckin people that happen to share a body get over your stupid singlet ideas
also calling it disgusting directly negatively affects every single system who has inner system relationships. like youre calling it disgusting when inner system relationships are literally a way of healing.
kindly stfu with your stupid ass opinions and educate yourself

Yo moonknight fans, especially fellow singlets
LISTEN TO SYSTEMS PLEASE
STEVEN AND MARC ARE NOT VERSIONS OF EACH OTHER. THEYRE SEPARATE PEOPLE. istg some of yall folk are so dense. And it ain't selfcest to ship them either. Again, separate folk and alters can have relationships within systems. So many systems here have said that but yall refuse to listen

Oscar Isaac’s Depiction of Dissociating in Moon Knight
I feel like a lot of people think that Oscar isaacs depiction of dissociation isn’t accurate, but that is 100% bc his accurate ones are so subtle the majority of the audience doesn’t notice in real time.
Does he do a few eyes rolling back dramatic switches? Yeah, but so far that has just been a tool to keep the audience in the immediate know of what’s going on in a scene.
In the scene w jake speaking to dr harrow, we start the scene with Marc, and the way harrows speaking to him triggers him to dissociate, and jake switches in, and it’s SO GOOD, it’s such an accurate representation of what dissociating actually looks like.
In addition, I don’t think I’ve seen anyone talking about how well they captured dissociating during the scenes in which Steven is trying to go to sleep! He never actually falls asleep, he starts to dissociate as he gets more exhausted and Marc switches in and gets up. They did such a good job in those scenes using the overlay of the repeating voice guide and the shots of the repetitive action of Steven tossing the Rubik’s cube and the transition of the shot from profile to overhead to portray what it feels like to start dissociating, while also not explicitly tipping the audience off as to exactly what’s happening too soon.
(Note: I don’t have DID but I do have problems with frequent dissociation due to past trauma)

ok since some of you idiots who enjoy watching Moon Knight don’t understand shit I’m going to explain it.
(*Moon Knight Ep 5 Spoilers towards the end*)
First off, Marc, Steven, and Jake are part of a system. Because of the childhood trauma they faced in childhood they developed Dissociative Identity Disorder.
Which means that because of the constant pressure and traumatic events happening to them their psyche fracture. Marc, Steven, and Jake are all fragments of one collective.
Secondly, Marc did NOT “create” Steven. The brain split both Steven and Marc to do seperate tasks. Marc to hold traumatic memories and protect the others. And Steven to keep them going, keep their area clean, keep them healthy.
Thirdly, they are all seperate people, they have different thought processes, different emotions, and different reactions, but they CANNOT exist by themselves. They need each other to be able to get through life. The creators of the show have had several professionals and people with the disorder talk to them about this stuff and how to portray it well.
That means they are aware that Marc didn’t create Steven and that they can’t exist without each other. So no they won’t stay seperate even if Steven has supposedly died and become sand and Marc is in the field of reeds.
Now stop for the love of fucking god calling them personalities, they’re alters, and stop calling Marc the original, THERE IS NO ORIGINAL WHEN YOU HAVE THIS DISORDER!
