I get why a lot of other Terraqua shippers like to see Terraqua in BBS or at least underlying romantic attraction, I really do, but I want to propose the concept of Terraqua only starting to happen post KH3.

Think about it. No matter how close they were, there was still this sort of tension, this distance between them, enforced by how Eraqus treated Terra and Aqua. Terra as the one who never lived up to what Eraqus wanted of him, and Aqua as the one who did. The fact that they were able to be so close despite that is a testament to how compatible as people they truly were, but that still drove a wedge between them.

But now, Eraqus is gone, and Terra and Aqua have to rethink who they are, and rethink how they relate to each other. Rethink who the other person even is, without this artificial competition for approval placed upon them by their teacher.

And it's in that process of relearning, of figuring out how their friendship can bloom without those enforced walls around them, that I like to think Terra and Aqua fall in love.

They fall in love after getting to truly know who the other person is, and can be, for the first time. Without Aqua being the standard Terra can't meet, without Terra's treatment being a warning for what Aqua will receive if she's like him. Now they can be equals, now they can admire and appreciate each other's strength without feeling forced to feel inadequate for not measuring up.

And isn't that special in its own way? Falling in love after you get the opportunity to see someone in a new light, qualities that were always there, but the curtain only just got removed from your own eyes?
