Overall Summery:

Arthur has returned. He and Merlin have gotten together, and together they saved the world with almost no one the wiser. They think their job is done, but as magic is revealed to be re-emerging, and not all of it in the right hands, they must build a new Camelot in this modern world to deal with the emerging threats. Meanwhile, the trauma Merlin brushed aside for centuries, even after Arthur’s return, will not be ignored anymore.

Chapter Summery: Merlin's past comes back to haunt him as he and Arthur settle into teaching new knights and sorcerers.

Mordred and Arthur's faces when they kill each other makes me so sad. Arthur is this unflinching twenty-some year old, a king in his own right, killing a knight he was betrayed by. That I can wrap my head around and accept, easy.

The sad part is Mordred's face of acceptance. He started off wanting to hope, wanting to make Arthur and Merlin and everyone else proud of him, and that backfired. Then he went to Morgana, but that backfired as well. He died in battle as a teenager. And he accepted his fate. With a smile. The most heartbreaking smile I've seen in a long time.

It makes me so sad.

Not someone saying Arthur falling for Gwen is merely him having repressed feelings for Merlin. The disrespect toward the two characters. Also not the same person reading too much into Merlin's behavior.

Merlin giving the two privacy by leaving?? so they can enjoy their secret date that's meant for just the two of them??? clearly isn't him being a good friend and high-key arwen shipper. No it must be a weird thing for him to do /s

Reached 5k hits on Stronger Than Destiny! Here's an excerpt of what I have so far for the next chapter (excuse any spelling mistakes)

“Do you need something?” Mordred asks curiously.

“Yes, uh, my name is Finnén.”

“Mordred.”

“I know. I heard that you might be able to help me.”

“You have?”

A few people have approached Mordred directly over the past two years. One or two of them turned out to be from Camelot. Luckily, Mordred got away from them before they could  drag him back.

His hand touches the pendant around his neck. When he visited the home of the ancient Druids, he picked up a few things. One was information on how to hide himself. That led to him finding a pendant that shields the wearer from all forms of magical tracking. Other things he took while there was his cloak, a couple of clothing items the old Druids wore, and a unique bow.

“Yes. I heard from some people that you like to aid others. I could really use your help,” Finnén says. Mordred sits on the ground. Finnén takes a seat right next to him.

“Who are these people?” Mordred asks.

“Some common folk. One man east of here mentioned you helped rid their crops of disease.”

Mordred lowers his defense a little bit. “What do you need help with?”

“Well, I am a prince of Amata. At least, I was before Morgana ousted my family. I have been working to take my throne back. However, the current king, Darnick, has mages on his side. I cannot fight him on my own.”

“I understand, but I can’t help you. I don’t usually get involved with that kind of stuff.”

“Perhaps you can make an exception?”

“I’m sorry.”

Finnén lowers his head.

“You could go to Camelot to find help,” Mordred suggests.

“I have tried. King Arthur does not want to risk another war against his people.”

Mordred nods in understanding.

“Why seek me out?

“I heard how some great sorcerer aided Mithian. So, I figured I would turn to you.”

Mordred blushes. “You’re okay with associating with someone who has magic?”

“Yes.”

“Didn’t your father despise magic?”

“Sarrum hated magic. That is true. However, I am not him. I disagreed with a lot of stuff he did. I do not care that he is dead. I would not have even cared that someone else is sitting on the throne. Yet, I see that my people’s lives are not any better than before.”

Mordred looks at Finnén with interest.

How Arthur tests if Uther is an imposter.

Can we really fault Mordred for killing Arthur in some of these tellings? I mean, if I learned I was a survivor of the May Day massacre ordered by my father who didn't apologize and refused to acknowledge me, I'd kill the king too.

So what if he's committed a few war crimes and killed the once and future king of Camelot? God, a fictional character can't do anything these days.
