I finally caught up with Pokémon Horizons, and I have so, so many thoughts about it

I have to admit, I was hesitant at first cause I was still missing the og, but then I saw rumours of the timeskip + spoilers for Ep89 and knew I had to watch it. I’m so glad I did, even if I’m not over the ending of ep89 at all 😭

Spoilers for the later parts of Pokémon Horizons 😁

I noticed that Lucius and Gibeons main pokémon mirror each other, being the shiny Rayquaza and shiny Zygarde respectively. They’re both dragon types, but Rayquaza’s secondary type is flying, while Zygarde’s is ground which mirror each other.

They’re also explicitly referred to as the black Rayquaza and the white Zygarde. Black and white…doesn’t that sound familiar… 🧐

It’s also ironic that Gibeon is the more idealistic one, wanting to extract the Laquium to better the lives of people and pokémon, whilst Lucius is the one that saw the truth about the effects of Laquium.

Am I overthinking this? Probably. Is it still interesting? 💯 yes😁

I think it speaks for a lot that my first thought when I saw the new trainer battle system was that I could jump trainers at night.

Then I remembered you get money from winning battles, and my thought went to the fact you can now mug trainers at night in an alleyway

I have plenty of thoughts and theories about the TDP season 7 trailer.

I think the dragon spirit/ghost things are of the dragons from the Drakewood in season 4. They have the same horns, and are technically wyverns as they don’t have front legs.

You remember that dragon scale necklace Claudia stole from the treasury also in season 4? I think she uses that to achieve her fire breathing armour thing

I mean, why Nintendo, why!? You gave us a canonically mute Link that didn't talk, only for you to make him 'miraculously' regain his voice at the end. 😠

I am going to live in my small pocket of denial and say that everyone was shocked at something else, and that Link explained what happened using sign.

I didn't get the cat clothes in my playthrough, cause I couldn't figure out how to make the cat move away from the spot.

Somehow, this is even more horrifying than the last phase. Once again, thank god for the cartoony art style cause I don't think I would have been able to face Null otherwise

They grab you...the hands....they grab you (insert even more TotK Gloom Hands trauma)

Towards the end, Null will become/summon echos of previous bosses, including at one point, about 5 copies of Gannon

Button mashing! I always get too anxious and mash the button as fast as I can despite the it will still work if I don't press it as fast

Eldritch horror, defeated!

The Triforce is back together!

All in all, the final boss was pretty fun. Link was a great help, and didn't get in the way or stand around doing nothing.

For me, at least, the battle itself was easier than I thought, and I still think Volvagia was the hardest boss in the game.

Also, did anyone else notice the shapes on the walls are probably Tris that Null has consumed? And the faces seemed to be screaming or have a horrified look on them?

While Link faces the horrors (Tm), Zelda gets whisked away to chase after Null in an underwater sequence

No! Null's grabbing the Tris to use their power!

Did not show any of the actual battle, just the lead up cause of the photo limit

Link fights alongside you now! I was originally worried, cause I didn’t want it to feel bulky or for Link to just stand around while I’m frantically targeting a monster (looking at you, mr bokoblins)

I don’t know what the developers at Nintendo did, but Link fights alongside you perfectly. He even hopped on top of the Platboom I used to solve a puzzle without me having to move him!

You can use Bind on him, but I never saw the need to

I also really like the design for inside Null’s body. From the outside, it kind of looks like a giant organism.

The patterns on the walls and floor remind me of cells inside living creatures, and the doorway block reminds me of DNA. (Alas, it seems I cannot escape biology, even in a Zelda game)

Puppet Zelda again! I didn't get a photo of it, but Null straight up consumes Puppet Zelda, and yes, it was a shock (that's why I didn't get any photos of it)

Wow, Null’s bigger then I thought

The Stilled areas! You can go either way and still reach the same area. The first spilt is either Gerudo desert or Jabul Waters! Just like the first to quest areas!

Then an Eldin Volcano/fire area, icy Hebra/Lanayru area, then a Faron Wetlands area! Like the final three quests!

It’s Link! Trapped in a crystal! With Puppet Zelda standing there all menacing

He’s so angry

I unfortunately didn’t get any pictures of the fight against Puppet Zelda, but it was really cool

She summons dark echos of monsters (most of which were defeated by my Lynel) and had three phases in total

After that, you finally rescue Link!

Aww, Tri’s worried

Let’s rearm Link! (Rauru to Sonia at the end of TotK, probably)

Also, at this point, you give the sword of might back to Link, meaning you can’t use swordfighter mode any more
