People like to argue and deny whenever someone brings up how misogynist Saw 3D is as a film but I truly think it's super apparent. There is not a single woman who has agency in that movie. It's the only film where women are overtly sexualized (Dina and Jill, Jill's dream sequence being the most egregious,) Gibson is sleazy and stares at his female coworkers butts, the entire silent circle trap and the woman in it being told to "just shut up," the whole bros-before-hoes thing with the public trap, the fact that none of the women in Bobby's traps are given any opportunity to free themselves (Cale at least gets to move on his own and has to assist in his own freeing from the trap even as Bobby gives him directions,) Joyce Dagan is given one of the most horrific punishments in the series for NOTHING and every time her husband fails she's literally pulled down onto her knees, Hoffman calling Jill a cunt while slamming her head into a table. Like one of these or a few of these could happen and it wouldn't make the film as a whole sexist, and obviously something happening in a film or a character doing/saying something doesn't mean the people making it agree with it or that they think it's right. HOWEVER, it's such a tonal shift from the other movies and the vibes are completely off. It really does feel like the film has a resentment for women at its core.

twitter would go CRAZY for the promo pics of Brit and Mallick. Do you mind if I post about it as long as I tag this account?
hey, I appreciate the ask but that's fine by me. as far as I'm concerned, all promo stuff should be out in open and easily accessible, especially since it's made for public viewing. besides, for the pintshippers?? anything. they deserve the world. so, fire away :)

how the FUCK did you find promo/bts content of Brit and Mallick????? The movie's been out for years and there's never been any leaked except that one selfie with the two actors!!!
thanks for the ask, I've never received one before! exciting stuff.
so I've had trouble finding behind the scenes content for Brit and Mallick as well — all I know of is the selfie you're on about and a couple photos of them in the 10 Pints of Sacrifice.
but production stills are another story. since they're taken for promotional purposes, they don't need to be leaked to make their way to the public; they're usually floating around somewhere, between press kits and handouts and the like.
this is especially the case for images like the Brit and Mallick ones I posted up — publicity stills, featuring actors only (no crew), on-set and in-character. these exist of most actors/characters in a piece because promo teams want to create the biggest audience draw, and a way of doing this is by showcasing all their actors in-character during various scenes.
this is where the Movie Stills Database site (moviestillsdb) comes in. it's what it sounds like: an archive of movie stills, from promo shoots and lobby cards to official behind the scenes photographs (usually of the 'here we are hard at work' variety rather than the iconic 'Strahm gives a thumbs up from the Water Cube', sadly).
it's a community-contribution type thing, so it's a great resource for finding high-res content, but you can only download using credits — either from donating OR by uploading your own stuff. now, I'm lucky enough to own a couple press kits, lobby cards, etc. myself, so I just throw those on there and use my credits for the Saw stuff I can't find anywhere else.
then I share them here, for the personal satisfaction of having a Saw-filled blog as well as the fun of sharing them with other people who also love Saw! of which I know none in real life.
anyway, most the promo/bts stuff posted here comes from the various Saw featurettes, sites like moviestillsdb, and some general internet trawling. but the Brit and Mallick promo stills specifically came from moviestillsdb. now, how the UPLOADER found them?? that remains a mystery. maybe they've got a ouija board for films whose productions are over.
sorry for the long answer. I have once again failed the 'rez give a short straightforward answer for once in your life' challenge. maybe I was just too happy to receive an ask. thanks again!
