Project 6: "The Best Buy Experience"
Here's a sneak peak at our presentation for project 6 part 1. Team DSL has been hard at work creating a service story researching, mapping, ideating, and creating solutions to maximize the Best Buy customer experience. This has been a long process that is helping us to better understand what creates a satisfactory service that satisfies the needs and wants from the customer point of view while remaining feasible and profitable from the company point of view. Personally, I have begun to attempt to incorporate service design into all of my project in Industrial Design. Service adds a whole new level of depth to everything.

Service: Gallery Expresso

So my coffee shop of choice is Gallery Expresso. I chose to pay attention to a unique variety of situations. The three (top picture) that i chose to map are: an interaction in the outside dinning environment, several students inside, and my own personal walk-through purchasing experience. During my visits I took pictures and quick sketches of the area and and pertinent notes. I then created these situations in illustrator. What I hope to learn in this class is to improve my mapping skills and how I approach different situations in terms of service design.

Service Design Experience Blog One
Hi everyone!
Let's see. For my first service design experience blog I'm going to post my experiences with my first Chicago Blackhawks hockey game over Spring break. The entry into the arena was swift and easy. I would say the entrance lines were very minimal, which was surprising considering the arena was packed when the game actually started. Finding our seats was easy as attendants were placed at designated zones in order to offer assistance and check tickets when requested. My only gripe with my first hockey system experience was, upon returning after a break between quarters, our seats were taken. The entire facility is built with min-checkpoints (ticket checking, ect.) however, when getting into and out of the seating area there is no one. It is actually pretty easy to take someones seat. It was quickly remedied but I feel that there is room for improvement.
