I like scanning smaller items at 600 dpi because I enjoy looking at the fine details + I can edit them to be at a lower dpi afterwards. If there's a negative/no difference I keep it at 300.

Omg. So some (low stakes) behind the scenes good news and bad news!

Good news: Whenever I would scan certain bromides, the colors would come out WAY darker. Like, unusable "should I even edit this" darker. BUT, after scanning a couple kuji bonuses and getting extremely frustrated that they weren't turning out like the first four bromides, I deleted and reset all my scanner settings. And for some reason it just? Fixed itself??

Like wtf??? I was (am!) so happy!! I literally gave up on that DRS bromide a couple months ago because I wasn't happy with the colors - I was about to do the same for Kaede too! I rescanned the kuji bonuses and everything was excellent. I don't remember changing my settings but who knows, maybe I accidentally toggled something at some point. Whatever, it's fixed, yay!!!

Bad news: I gave away some of the bromides that scanned poorly. q_q The Shuichi and K1-B0 bromides that match with Kaede up there? Gone. Shuichi went to a Kokichi cosplayer I met at a convention and K1-B0 was included in a box split order. Sooo...I'm gonna try look for replacements. Hopefully I can get Makoto and Hajime too to complete the set.

And this is just prep work to get a full picture ready for actual spot cleaning/editing! Yeesh!!!

I'm experimenting with scanning objects larger than what my Epson can fit. The first couple of these oversized scans will be clear files...hopefully I can successfully scan and edit together some Danganronpa stick posters.

Reason for #InfoMissing: This item was purchased secondhand on Mercari. I do not doubt that it's official, but for archival purposes (and personal curiosity) I want to find out:

What store was offering this as a pre-order bonus

If this was a JPN exclusive or not (I'm guessing the former because of the message written in Japanese)

What the message says in English

The seller themselves and many Yahoo auction listings say it was a pre-order bonus for buying Volume 9 of the Persona 4 manga and that's pretty much it.

I have a hard time sourcing items like this so if anyone has a clue as to where I can get info I would very much appreciate the help!

Apologies to the Danganronpa folk, we're gonna take a bit of a Persona detour for the next couple of scans! There's still a bunch of DR stuff I haven't edited and an even bigger pile that still needs to be scanned.

Can I get through all of these before I move? Who the hell knows! At the very least I'd like to get it all scanned before then so that I can continue to edit and post when I'm away. I'm excited to scan these because it has a lot more characters than just my favorite 5.

Persona peeps, I have a small collection of bonus postcards from the May 2023 Rakuten kuji (mostly from 4 and 5). I just bought a couple more so I'm holding off until they come in. For now I have some silly P4 things + a P3 sticker sheet queued up to post every other day for the next 3-ish weeks.

Left in a reblog for an acrylic card scan (thank YOU!!).

I swear to all of you: If I could, I'd buy complete merch sets so that nobodies characters were left out. Unfortunately we're limited to my favorite characters + whatever extra I can afford. >o<

I sometimes buy things specifically to scan them (these NamjaTown bromides, for example) but it's a bit hard justifying the purchase of other things I don't really intend on keeping in my collection. Maybe in the future I'll raffle off/giveaway items I don't want?

In the same vein, I've been thinking on and off about opening a P.O box so that people can send things in to be scanned (whether it's general merch or personal items) but that's...tricky and requires a lot of trust. Considering I'll be moving sometime during the summer, maybe that's not a good idea right now.
