Zodiac Academy … honest rant

The series has a good overall plot but it’s being dragged. Six books in and Tory and Darcy are still in their first year fighting off bullies and are oblivious to their actual responsibilities and roles. They concern themselves with the real plot (the nymphs and shadow realm problem) when they are made to have a scene including the councillors which like I mentioned are “MADE”. And more than most of the times it’s just the heirs making their life hell and then the twins taking a revenge. I understand it can be used as a plot for suspense of the twins fae characteristics but there are many ways to do that and not stall the series.

It’s not slow but is dragged. It is a situation of more books with a the same or similar plots because the authors didn’t seem to want to increase the book length so they opted to increase the series length.

What I feel it needs is more attention to Tory and Darcy’s education through private tutoring like the ones heirs received, someone actually guiding them on their responsibilities, the heirs having a serious conversation on the twins powers instead of just being scared and insecure and trying to make their lives hell, all six of them need character growth, more scenes with the four of them (Lance, Darcy, Darius & Tory) actually training with the shadow element and trying to find more details on its connection to with nymphs and if they can use it to overpower them, the 3 remaining heirs need to merge in with this plan while being mature and seth growing a darn arse backbone !

This is gonna be controversial so imma put it up FIRST as a disclaimer: this is my bloody opinion!!

So… turns out we can use the term verse after an author’s name here and there now and FURTHER nowadays authors don’t even have the decency to let the readers decide if their book line is worth being called as a verse

Acc to ME: verse (eg: rinaverse, maasverse, etc) is used when an author releases multiple diff book series which are all interconnected in formation of a Verse (as in same timeline with the characters having a good influence on one another’s stories.) We see it very well in my above mentioned examples of rinaverse and maasverse. Moreover, we see it in holly black’s books and series of elfhame but I’m unaware if she gets called a term having the suffix verse.

Today I saw Ana Huang’s reel where she called her book line Anaverse and which in beginning I’ve never seen her fans or any reader at large call her, so I presume it’s a self proclaimed title. Further, NONE of her books (and series) have that sense of inter connectivity which greatly influences plots of one another. Yes, there are Cameos of characters from different books but a CAMEO is a whole different concept where a character makes an appearance- it DOES NOT necessarily influence the happenings of the story line or plot !!! So I honestly have no darn clue as to why she suddenly presumes her books to be a verse when in reality they are just set in the same world with not societal differences to even differentiate their characteristics at large.

While we are on the topic of her plots- FFS is it only me who thinks of them to be too predictable and similar to other books!? Cause even the characters she write seems to be a reused blueprint of the one she wrote previously. (And I’m speaking this as I’ve read twisted series and king of sin series)

And considering all of this- I don’t think she deserves to call her book line a “anaverse” let alone dark romance cause she just writes billionaire romance and the original dark romance authors in my opinion are Rina Kent, Runyx, Penelope Douglas, H D Carlton, etc !

(Ps: ironically tumblr also doesn’t show an official hashtag of “anaverse” on my phone which further proves my point)
