when vanilla paste dropped, i was worried that tallah might become a one-and-done kind of band, where the first record kicked ass and the rest just couldn’t stack up.
that fear has now been extinguished.
#ill prob have some actual Thoughts at a later date but for rn im just hdalkgdhalhdka#tallah#never before scene

ok i haven’t gotten the chance to talk about this yet but i assume we’ve all seen that video from the brits awards? if not: bring me the horizon guested on stage with ed sheeran during his performance of “bad habits” and they did a rock version of it together, including some screams from oli and everything. i was gonna write a whole thing about why this is actually a little bit of a big deal and whatever, but i’ve now been totally sidetracked. this is a youtube short posted by the band today and. HELLO?????? official studio version????????? official collaboration between bring me and ed fucking sheeran????????????? what planet am i on
#i still wanna write that other post tho bc i have stuff to say#but im just floored. this is the only thing that could ever make me actually kind of excited for an ed sheeran release

ok look it just baffles me how skillet is as popular as they are. like in the mid 90s this christian alt rock band forms and they’re called “skillet”. that’s their NAME. but whatever, right? there’s a market for that kind of stuff, all those kids in middle school who are being raised christian but still need a way to express their angst through music so they listen to bands that are like worse versions of the cool alternative stuff of the time. that’s fine, that’s chill. then they have some songs that cross over to the wider audience of the sort of post-grunge/alternative metal scene. that makes sense too, a lot of those bands tended to have vaguely christian undertones anyway, so not that big of a stretch. but then in 2008... 200-fuckin-8!! nu metal has crashed and burned at that point, and while post-grunge is still holding on, it’s not the lucrative market it had been in the first part of the decade! but somehow, this band not only holds on, but manages to put out the biggest song of their career. what’s the song, you ask? well, it’s just a little number called “Animal I Have Become by Three Days Grace except worse in every way”. they just ripped off a track from their scene’s heyday and made it with worse singing and worse instrumentation and worse lyrics. and that was enough! that became their smash hit. sure, there was another big hit from that album, but that one has Jesus Stink all over it, so it barely counts. anyway skip forward like a decade and they’ve toured enough to make them stupid rich, so now they stop giving a shit and make music that sounds like imagine dragons but for people who want to pretend that they’re actual rock fans. if all you want is imagine dragons with real guitars at least listen to fuckin. papa roach or something.

more bands should follow the attack attack model where if their vocalist is a creep, they simply abandon his ass in a parking lot in the middle of nowhere

I had made this post about the song “God is a woman” by Ariana Grande a while back, and now here’s a sort of follow up to that with a song which is very different from the first song, but with which I had a very similar experience. this one gets a little longer so i’ll put a break here bc i’m sooo nice :-)
