True Happiness
Because of positive karma resulting from their past lives, some people now enjoy great wealth. Some possess millions of dollars. However, this wealth does not grant happiness. True happiness, happiness of the mind, is difficult to obtain. In the contemporary world, people are animated by feverish agitation. Many cannot stay quiet; they go from one place to another, visiting one country after another. This continual search for the new is a sign of lacking happiness.
The mind, with its variety of distractions that monopolize it, wants to forget its feelings of frustration. Practiced correctly, meditation allows us to pacify our mind, to make it stable and, by this way, to find inner well-being and an authentic happiness. Our mind becomes tired of all the thoughts and conflicting emotions within it. Our body is equally tired due to following orders imposed by our agitated mind. Practicing meditation will bring more rest to our mind and body than a walk in a park full of flowers.
