Orla Desjardins.

Pharmacist. Draught Wright. Apothecary — all titles 32 year old Orla has gone by, much like her Mother & Grandmother before. An unexpected child, Orla had just a few short years with her family before their untimely gommage. Armed with a half finished herbarium, she volunteers herself for Expedition 33 with the intent of filling it to the brim with knowledge of the flora beyond the walls of Lumiere, hopeful in the thought that even if it is left unfinished in her lifetime, one day it's pages will be full to bursting.

Appearance & Personality.

Orla stands at average height and slightly overweight. Her hair is flame red and falls down her back in wild untameable curls. Her eyes are big, wide, and a deep, inviting brown. A handful of large freckles are dotted across chubby cheeks. Her uniform walks the tightrope of practical and pretty. An example can be found here (note: I will update this when I have a proper reference back, the sketch provided has been used with permission of the person who drew it).

First and foremost, Orla is earnest. All she wants is to continue the family legacy and, ideally, bring it home filled. Though her time with her parents was short, she loved the time she had — and the time she spent with the foster families she got sent to as well. Despite her rather depressing start at life, she's rather adaptable.

Her feelings on the expedition are those of grounded optimism. She would love nothing more than to return home, ideally with all of her friends and fellow expeditioners in tow, and is firm in the belief that she can and will. But if she has to go down she wants to go down knowing she was fighting for a good cause.

She's not particularly quick to pick up on humour or sarcasm, and her mouth sometimes works faster than her brain, leading to her tripping over her words often, a trait she considers annoying so obviously everyone else finds it annoying too, right? good luck trying to tell her otherwise.

She can be rather reckless in the name of progress of the herbarium. She will oft put herself, and sometimes her party, in harms way for the sake of notations of new specimens. She's apologetic for it, but it won't stop her from doing it again.

Though she has confidence in her brain, she knows that can't help her in the physical side of combat. It's something she worries about constantly: Perhaps she more of a burden to the expedition than a help?

Weapon & Combat style.

Orla favours vitality, defence & luck. Her greatest strength lies in her wealth of botany knowledge & knapsack of greenery. By combining the right components together she can equal parts imbue her teammates while depriving her enemies. But don't let her lack of physical prowess fool you. After all, the only difference between medicine & poison is in the dosage.

Though not the most battle - hardened, Orla comes equipped with Fleureton, a non-elemental segmented short sword that can come apart to form a whip for better coverage at the expense of less power. Her speciality, Appliquée allows her to coat her weapon in order to apply extra damage & status afflictions at the cost of a full turn. Sometimes, if she gets lucky, she can perform again immediately.

Appliquée: Charm ⇢ Orla coats her weapon with an amorous concoction. Her next base attack deals physical damage with a chance to charm for 2 turns. Single target in sword form. AOE in whip form.

Appliquée: Poison ⇢ Orla coats her weapon with a toxic concoction. Her next base attack deals fire damage with a chance to apply 5 burn stacks. Single target in sword form. AOE in whip form.

Appliquée: Blight ⇢ Orla coats her weapon with a rotten concoction. Her next base attack deals earth damage with a chance to apply 2 blight stacks. Single target in sword form. AOE in whip form.

Appliquée: Stun ⇢ Orla coats her weapon with a rotten concoction. Her next base attack deals lightning damage & extra high break damage. Single target in sword form. AOE in whip form.

Empowering Rally ⇢ Orla shouts words of encouragement, applying berserk & powerful to everyone in the party except herself.

Steel Skin ⇢ Empower your target's expedition uniform. Apply 2 shield & Shell to a single target. Duration is doubled if used after Appliquée.

Poultice ⇢ Soothe your target's wounds. Apply regen to a single target for 3 turns. Duration is doubled if used after Appliquée.

Explosive Draught ⇢ After priming a bottle to explode, Orla hurls it, dealing AOE fire damage & applying 3 stacks of burn.

Silencing Draught ⇢ Orla tosses a smoky bottle, clogging the throat of the target. Applies silence for 2 turns.

Whip Crack ⇢ Orla cracks her whip against the ground, dealing physical damage & applying mark to hit targets.

Baton Pass ⇢ Give up your turn to the next party member. When you move again, your weapon will be imbued with a random Appliquée.

Holy thrust (gradient lvl 1) ⇢ Orla thrusts her sword imbued with the divine. High single target light damage. Fills the break bar.

Appliquée: Curse (gradient lvl 2) ⇢ Orla coats her weapon with a doomed concoction. Her next base attack deals void damage & applies curse, killing after 2 turns. Single target. Instead of killing bosses, deals extreme void damage instead.

Provocateur's Draught (gradient attack lvl 3) ⇢ Orla throws bottles of reagent in the air that explode into a shower of fireworks, inspiring her party & coating her enemies in various Appliquées. Applies 3 shields, rush, shell, powerful, & regen to the party for 5 turns. Applies charm for 3 turns, 10 blight stacks & burn stacks to all enemies.
