there are a MILLION things jaebin could’ve said. option a: after reading the post about you, i picked up my mother’s calls for the first time in six months, it was awkward and horrible and less than ideal. option b: are you sure you don’t want to talk? and of course, the one he actually came out with, option c:  “ i’m fine, to be honest. ”  no will be, no would be. he’s not feeling all that bad.  “ i don’t actually have a DEGREDATION kink. ”  a pause as he makes himself comfortable in the chair in sangwon’s room. CREWD follow - ups dance on his tongue, despite the fact that he doesn’t feel quite right saying that type of shit to sangwon.  “ i have to admit, i was surprised to see your name in there too. mine? uh, ”  he shrugs, images of his fellow prince members seeing him at his WORST flashing through his mind. his lips curl into a smile, all FAUX PRIDE to hide his true feelings, self - protection at its simplest.  “ i think we can both agree that it was only a matter of time before i fucked or drank my way into some trouble. ”  he’s building up to asking sangwon the important questions, but he can’t quite yet. jaebin’s search history reads: how to speak to someone whose name you once forgot when asked to tell them that you love them?

◜         ° • *        ♡        / maybe if they were closer this wouldn’t be so awkward. maybe sangwon would throw out a teasing joke and a wiggle of their eyebrows, but they aren’t. so instead sangwon sits on their bed, and gets comfortable with the blanket draped around their shoulders. “its okay if you are. i’m not one to judge.” they settle with saying. it felt as close to a joke they could get to without it bordering on awkward or out of character for them. not that this whole situation wasn’t weird enough as it is. “would it be rude of me to agree? i’m surprised it took this long for someone to catch on.” sangwon sniffles, words carefully chosen. “i hope you tone it down until all of this blows over though. i really don’t want it to affect the rest of the group or the tour. they don’t deserve that.”

everyone, jaebin assumes, has people they DON’T CLICK WITH. jaebin, for one, just so happens to be in a group full of them. the tour, for the most part, has been a welcome break from life in prince’s dorms. hotel rooms make a lot of things easier        bed hopping  &  day drinking among them. but for once, he and a groupmate have something in common, namely: a GOSSIP post, from some nutty bitch. he has to admit, part of him has been waiting for something like this, almost like part of him wants to commit career suicide, but he never thought that he’d see something about SANGWON, of all people. jaebin hasn’t spoken to sangwon in a long time, off camera, at least, and never about anything personal. and now, they finally have something to relate to one another on.  (  kind of. jaebin’s problem is one of his own design. a BRUISED EGO and a rumoured kink that he doesn’t even possess don’t really compare to sangwon’s troubles.  )  he knocks on sangwon’s hotel room door, wearing a sheepish expression on his face when it opens. the whole thing is terribly uncharacteristic. he speaks in a low voice, still unsure if he should even be trying here.  “ how’re you holding up? ”  no hello, no nothing. jaebin has never been good at talking about things that matter.  /  @scngwon !

◜         ° • *        ♡        / the last person sangwon expected to show up at their door was jaebin. it wasn’t as if the two didn’t get along, it was just that they were... different. complete opposites if you will. so to see the boy standing there looking awkward considering the situation was weird. maybe they were right and this was all just some awful, realistic dream because this was all just so surreal. they rubbed their red rimmed eyes just to be sure and when jaebin didn’t disappear, they just carefully moved out of the way and invited him into the hotel room. “i’ll be fine. i just wasn’t expecting to see my name in tabloids. how are you? i saw what she wrote about you as well.” they obviously weren’t fine. sangwon had dried tear stains and a constant sniffle that only happened after a long crying session but they didn’t want to burden jaebin, especially when the other had their own problems out in the open as well.  최재빈

     —  THEIR  HAIR  WAS  SOFT  AGAINST  YUBIN’S  CHEEK  as they lied intertwined on the younger’s bed. yubin had been somewhat mortified and at the same time laughing uncontrollably when the post exposing his scandalous sex life had been posted, since the only truth to it ( on his part ) had been the fact that he’d spent some time in naomi’s hotel room. but when the second post had been published that had stopped, and a few seconds later he’d knocked on sangwon’s door, concerned for his favourite dongsaeng that seemed to give him far too much credit.

now they were lying on sangwon’s bed as they seemed to be in need of some serious comfort. yubin didn’t know if the things in the post were true, but he suspected that they were given the situation they currently were in. “sangwonnie,” he mumbled as he stroked their hair softly. “it’s okay. no one believes that crazy lady anyways … it’s okay …” yubin bit down on his lip, trying to think of something to say that would make this easier. “do you … do you want to talk about it ?”

◜         ° • *        ♡        / sometimes sangwon forgets about what happened. sometimes they feel normal, like everyone else. but then something happens that makes that illusion crumble and the truth hits them like punch in the stomach. today was one of those days. they had a good day, everything was fine until they checked their phone and saw the article all over their timeline. sangwon felt as if their heart had stopped, and quickly made an excuse to leave recording early. ‘sorry hyung, my vocal cords are starting to hurt. can we continue tomorrow?’ and made it back to their hotel room in record time.  they were fine, everything was fine. even as they scrolled through twitter, reading tweet after tweet, holding back tears. it all crashed down when yubin showed up at their door. the repressed emotions just overwhelmed them and they just flung themselves into his arms and started sobbing. now they were laying in the younger’s bed and sangwon had somewhat calmed down. every now and again a silent sob would wrack through their body but for the most part they were calmer. "everyone’s believed her about everything else. why wouldn’t they believe this?” they mumbled into jaebin’s chest. “its just so stupid.” sangwon hiccuped, “i just don’t understand why she had to do this. i was okay. everything was okay. i stopped thinking about it and moved on.” apparently not as well as they thought, “i just don’t understand.”

     mina knew that the tour was most likely taking a toll on all of them. although, the amount of tired each one of them showed was quite different, but as a dancer she felt as though she could relate. mina looked at sangwon with sympathetic eyes and ruffled their hair lovingly –– they were only two years younger than her but somehow she felt an obligation to protect them. “maybe i should invest in better headphones then ? i’ve always eyed those noise cancelling ones,” she let off a soft smile. “yes, if is the keyword since i feel like we rarely ever are alone, you know ?” she gave a little pat on their cheek as they leaned, “oh, i do recommend a nap. hiding from managers ? i’m afraid i have to support that as well.”

◜         ° • *        ♡        / “i’m sure if you asked some of the sound tech people they’d have some good suggestions for headphones. they’re pretty knowledgable about that kinda stuff.” they suggested, leaning into mina’s touch.  being phically affectionate had always been such a weakness of theirs. “i don’t mind it.” they shrugged, “not being alone i mean. constantly being surrounded by people can get exhausting after awhile but i much prefer it over being alone. its much more comforting.” after all, they would know from personal experience. growing up alone was hard and just the thought of going back to that made the younger sad. but nonetheless, they quickly changed the subject and shrugged it off as to not make mina worry. “i don’t get how you, jaebin-hyung, and yubin-hyung do it. we had an eight hour dance practice today and i feel like my limbs are about to fall off. how can they expect me to be able to dance for three more hours after that? especially with only a twenty minute break in between.”

     —  YUBIN  HAD,  IN  VAIN,  TRIED  TO  find someone to hang out with for the better part of the day ( his antics had become A Lot and he was beginning to suspect that his group members where starting to panic ) but everyone seemed to either be busy or at rehearsals. so for the last five minutes he had been pouting as he was lying on his bed, waiting for a miracle to happen. and ( as if a miracle indeed had happened ) a few minutes later there was a soft, barely there, knock. yubin jumped off the bed and hurried toward the door. a bright smile appeared on his face when he saw who was waiting on the other side. “sungwonnie,” he cooed and pulled them closer into a tight hug. “my little teddy bear, my flower, my baby. i’ve missed you !”

◜         ° • *        ♡        / sangwon whined in embarrassment as they were pulled into a hug. yubin was always so over the top and it never failed to make the younger flustered. “hyung, i missed you too but i can’t breathe.” they whined, squirming in the older boy’s grip. they adored physical affection very much but they also really enjoyed being able to breathe. “can we go inside before someone sees us?” they asked once they had carefully detangled themselves from yubin, instead opting to hold the others hand instead.

◜         ° • *        ♡        / when sangwon got the group text saying practice had been postponed, they instantly left the hotel room they’d been cooped up in and made their way to yubin’s room. it had been awhile since they’d had time to actually spend time with anyone besides their group mates, especially their favourite hyung. they were both so busy with schedules and the tour so it was hard to find time to see each other. even now, they weren’t even sure if yubin would even be there but it was worth trying. once they finally made it to his door, they softly knocked on the door a few times and waited.        ◞

    “–– i don’t go out in public by myself a lot,” mina began as she looked out the window longingly. her days recently ( much like everyone else’s ) are just filled with preparation with a side of a little more preparation for what was thus far the most important chapter of her life. “but the other day i did happen to go out and it reminded me why i don’t –– you hear the strangest conversations in the weirdest spots,” she huffed. “like these young kids were talking about vaping when i was weighing my bananas in the grocery store ?” she looked at the other questioningly, “i don’t know it just didn’t seem like the proper place or time !” she shook her head, “sorry, did i interrupt you saying something ? i know i kind of just rambled.”
