Jess immediately turned her head when she heard someone call her name. Not just anyone either, she knew that voice. She knew that voice so well--! Once she set her eyes on him, she was shocked. First of all, she thought that he was dead. Second off, his face.. Was horribly disfigured. That was the best way that she could describe it. She still felt a bit comforted by his presence.
“Josh..? Josh-- I’m so glad that you’re here, you’re alive..!”
She paused when Josh asked what had happened to her, raising a hand to her face self consciously. Of course she knew what happened. How could she forget..? What she was doing here, however, she wasn’t really sure of.
“I don’t even know why I’m here, Josh.”
She started off, biting her bottom lip.
“I.. I was attacked while Mike and I were out at the cabins. By a monster-- I think they called it a Wendigo. It... It dragged me out of a window and down into a mine shaft. I guess I was out of it for a while, because I woke up on the floor of a broken elevator. I wandered around for a while, got chased by another one of those monsters, then eventually met up with Matt.”
She furrowed her brows, looking the other up and down. Jessica’s whole body shook, tired and sore. She supposed it was a better time than ever to ask what had happened to him.
“What happened to you..? We all thought that you were dead.”
It’s been less than a month since his arrival. Transitioning into this lifestyle is still difficult for him with all things considered. He has no place to really call his own, but he’s managed somewhere to sleep, shower, and eat; it’s something, and to top it off he’s met people like him that his old friends would think are dangerous. Namely, Nathan Prescott. A loud boy who thinks with his heart and talks with his fists– Josh likes him the most, he thinks. There’s something ‘ugly’ in Nathan that’s inside Josh. A parasite infecting two different bodies, with two different results.
As unlikely as finding anything of substance was to him when he arrived, seeing someone he knew from ‘before’ was out of the question. It didn’t cross his mind at all… until today. She was just sitting there, covered in blood and bruises and dirt. The crowd seamlessly parts around her– it looks so unreal that he second guesses whether it is or not. Jess shouldn’t be here. She shouldn’t look like that. Mike should be standing next to her with that cheeky asshole grin he always wears. They should be laughing and talking, but she looks ready to break with a strong gust of wind.
He pushes one– two, three.. four people out of his way, weaving against the flow of ‘blanks’ that never seem to react to anything, “Jess?” He calls, hesitant. It’s got to be her. It’s got to be REAL. There’s no fucking way this isn’t real. The space between them continues to shrink. “Jess!” Louder, clearer. His pace falters and slows as he comes up within arms length of her. It’s worse than he thought. The wounds, the look of desperate confusion, did he..? “What.. what happened to you? How– what are you doing here?” That was a stupid question. Did anyone know what they were doing ‘here’. “Did.. do you know what happened? Jesus..” ‘You look awful’ goes unspoken. He looked infinitely worse even still.
He wanted revenge and it looks like he got it, but it didn’t feel like he won anything.

Send me a ✿ and my muse will react to your muse putting a flower in their hair | closed
Jess beamed when Ib put the flower in her hair, holding the girl’s hand as they both sat in the rose garden together. She plucked a flower and put one in the girl’s hair gently. She pulled back slightly, admiring her work.
“Now we match!”

Jess had smiled when Josh showed her the flower, telling him that she thought it was beautiful. She was surprised when Josh moved to put the flower in her hair, her cheeks flushing a soft pink. She gave a soft laugh, pushing some of the loose strands of hair behind her ear.
“Does it look good?”

☎ hugging them
Jess was surprised to say the least. She looked down at the younger girl hugging her. The girl wasn’t afraid of her..? Jessica was covered head to toe in wounds-- Something that would’ve scared most kids off. She stood awkwardly for a moment before leaning down and returning the hug. She would have to admit that it did bring her a bit of comfort. Rubbing the girl’s back, she wondered if the young one was looking for comfort herself.
“Are you alright..?”

☎ hugging them
Jess was pleasantly surprised. To be honest, she really needed it after everything that she had gone through. She returned the hug as tight as she could manage in her weakened state and smiled; something that she hasn’t done in a while. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the moment before pulling back a bit.
“You’re really happy today, Josh! Did something good happen?”
✗ bringing them alcohol
Jess took it without hesitation, offering Josh a soft thanks as she opened the bottle with shaking hands. On a night like this, she really needed it. She plopped herself down on the couch and took a swig. Drink to forget, she distinctly remembered people saying. She guessed that was what she was doing now. Drinking to forget everything that had happened to her, the things she had done.
“I.. I really needed this. Thank you.”
She offered the bottle back to him, giving a weak smile.
“It’s no fun to drink alone.”

Wandering around at night probably wasn’t the best idea when you were new in a place, injured, and well.. Not in the best state of mind. She stumbled through some alleyways, shivering. Her outfit wasn’t exactly the best for the season. She would’ve had something better on if-- Well, she didn’t want to think about it right now.
Her teeth chattered and she held her arms close to herself. She desperately wanted to find a place to at least go into for a bit, but it seemed that everything was closed. She eventually just couldn’t go on anymore, her body protesting with every step. Jessica resigned to sitting down in front of a store, pulling her knees up to her chest.
“God, who knew that a simple meetup would have ended up like this..?
Not even a day ago, she was up at Blackwood Pines with her friends. The whole night had gone wrong, however. Wendigos, pranks going too far, death... It was all so bad.

After stumbling around for a few hours, Jessica had decided to stop looking for her friends-- Just for now, though. Right now, she really needed to rest. She hadn’t slept in over 24 hours, she was absolutely covered in open wounds, and everything was sore. Somewhere along the way, she found herself a public bathroom. She gave a soft sigh of relief.
She dragged herself in, leaning over one of the sinks and taking a good look at herself in the mirror. She looked terrible. She turned on the water and let it run until is became warm, cupping her hands and splashing water onto her face. She at least wanted to get the blood off of her face. Maybe then, people would stop giving her strange looks.
She raised her head again and looked at herself. Now she was starting to look better. Her wounds had started to clot and scab, the bleeding down to a minimum. She jumped slightly when she caught sight of someone behind her in the mirror, taking a sharp breath. She went completely still and closed her eyes, clutching at the edges of the sink.
If she stayed completely still, it wouldn’t be able to see her.

Jessica limped through the city, looking around. She noticed that she was receiving a lot of glances. She would bet that it was because she was covered in cuts and dried blood. She couldn’t really help it. She was taken right from the police station and thrown into this strange world. She hadn’t even been here for an hour and she had seen so many different beings, different races, species... It was all so much to take in.
She eventually found herself feeling exhausted. She breathed heavily, leaning against a wall of the closest building that she could fine. Last night’s events had been so tiring.. Dragged out of her cabin and thrown down into some abandoned mines.. Not your every day experience.
She sat alone in silence for a few minutes before she noticed the other walking by her. She looked up, eyes lidded from exhaustion. She didn’t know if she could trust the other, but she knew that she needed help.
“Excuse me..”

If Jessica hadn’t seen what she did the night before she was taken she probably would have been freaked out when she first saw the other. Now, she was quiet, observing him from afar. He didn’t look like a wendigo. Honestly, he wasn’t scary to her at all. Maybe she was just losing her senses..?
She clasped her hands in her lap, shifting on the bench. It wasn’t very comfortable, but perhaps that was because she was dragged around by a monster for a considerable time last night. Her whole body was sore. She shook her head. Just thinking about it made her feel sick.
She placed her hands over her face, groaning softly. What was she even doing? In a situation like this, she should’ve been looking for her friends, but she was exhausted. Maybe, just maybe, the other would help her for a moment.
“Excuse me..”
She called out, voice weak and raspy.

Jess’s mind was reeling, to say the least. She hugged herself as she pushed through the crowds in the city, trying to find a quiet place to think. She eventually found herself in a part of town with less people, breathing out in relief. She found herself a bench to sit on, feeling exhausted.
Not even 24 hours ago, she was fighting to survive down in the mines in Blackwood after being dragged out of her cabin by a wendigo. At least her wounds weren’t bleeding anymore-- Though there was dried blood all over her at this time. She didn’t mind, after all, she had more important things on mind at the moment. Like how she would get home.
She rested her chin in her hands, looking around herself. There weren’t many people around her, the ones that were didn’t glance over, hurrying on their way. She didn’t try to stop any of them. She didn’t know if she could trust anyone. She noted that there were a lot of people dressed strangely. Almost like they were from some fantasy book or something..
She sat up and sighed, jumping slightly when she noticed that there was someone behind the bench. She almost fell forward, gasping in surprise.
“Oh, God! Don’t just sneak up on someone like that!”
The girl was obviously quite shaken, watching him with wild eyes.

Jessica was tired out. She couldn’t handle being in such a large crowd. She panted and fell to her knees in a park, hands curling up into fists. She tore up some grass, dirt getting under her nails and getting her hands all messy. She closed her eyes and took a moment to calm herself down, at least a bit.
When she had finally gotten her breathing back to normal, she sat back and looked around herself. There weren’t many people around, but the ones that were, were casting her strange looks. She wanted to yell. She couldn’t help it--! Wouldn’t they have reacted the same way if they were shoved into a foreign new world.
Jess sniffed and brought her dirtied hands to her face, tearing up. She bit her bottom lip, screwing her eyes shut. I can’t do it, she thought to herself. It was too much..! First demons and now this?! She hadn’t even been able to find anyone. She was alone again-- And it hadn’t even been 24 hours.
“I had this coming...”
It was a whisper to herself. She couldn’t help but to think this was karma, finally coming back for her. Sending her into one straining situation to the next. She deserved it, she thought, for planning that prank against Hannah..

Jessica sat on the ground in the middle of the foreign city, pulling her knees up to her chest. She bit her lip and looked around with wide eyes. She had bitten her bottom lip so hard that she could already taste the copper of her blood filling her mouth. She was shaking, she noticed when she raised her hands. She clenched her hands into fists and held them to her chest, trying to calm herself down.
It was cruel. Being pulled from one drastic situation into another one. She didn’t even have the chance for her wounds to heal before this started-- She didn’t even think she made it out of the police station.
She stayed in her place on the ground for a few more minutes, ignoring the looks she was getting from the others around her. They didn’t matter. All that mattered was finding her friends. If she was here, they had to be there too. She carefully stood, having to take a moment to get steady on her legs. She looked through the crowd, getting on her tiptoes.
“Matt? Sam..? Mike? Are you there?”
She called out weakly, her throat still raw from screaming so much up at Blackwood.
