7: The Wendigo and The Box; Winchesters x Younger Sibling (OC)
Tumblr media
quick authors note: hi, been a minute. i started thingking this fic was shit but then i was like "i've read worse and if I know it's not as bad as those fics, then im golden. but enjoy chapter 7. idk what im doing here lol
After Jamie left the Euporium, she got everything she needed, she even managed to find a decent laptop bag. She continued to explore, getting a bit hungry after all the news. She found a local diner and took a seat. Her head was spinning, all the information she just got, out of one person. Lady Luck really must have a crush on her. She looked out thewindow as she waited.
“Evening. What can I get for you?” A woman asked.
Jamie turned and flash a smile.
“Can I get a cream soda and one piece of that pie to go.” She asked with a smile.
“Sure thing boss, do you want your drink with ice cream?” The waitress asked.
“I can have ice cream with creame soda ?” Jamie asked, her eyes getting wide.
“Well yeah. We have vanilla or sherbert.”
“Vanilla to go then, please.” Jamie said pulling a twenty out of her pocket. “Charge me and keep the change.”
“Are you sure? That’s a ten dollar tip?” The waitress asked. Jamie winked and nodded before turning back to the window.
She couldn’t help but continue to think about Histor. Besides her Dad that was the closest she had ever been to her mother and she was getting closer by the second. Jamie was no fool though.
She already anticipated how much research she would be doing so she picked up a journal and some hard drives when she found her laptop bag.
If someone was looking for her, she should tell her family. Someone, in case something happens.
She pulled out her phone and passed by Dean and Sam’s contacts till she reached Uncle Bobby. The phone rang two times before her uncle picked up.
“Hello?”
“Bobby, we need to talk.”
Jamie explained everything by that had happened in the last week, she explained what Histor told her and how she felt about it. Bobby listened. He was staring wide eyed at his notes as he listened to what Jamie said, taking sips from his cup as she continued.
“Wait, so why even break the spell if it’s protecting you from someone?” Bobby asked. he was never so surprised about anything anymore, more shocked when it didn’t end up being something weird.
“Remember a couple of months ago when you found me by the Corvette in the junkyard and I didn’t know how I got there? He said that keep happening and will get worse. The spell is stopping whatever is inside of me from ‘awakening’ and it could kill me if something isn’t done and I don’t want to die Bobby.” She said.
“You seem pretty adjusted to this news.” Bobby said sarcastically. “but we don’t want you dying. Have you been losing more time?”
“I’ve had some time but No, that was the only time as far as I know but I don’t know, even since we got on the road I’ve felt different. I’m getting worked up easier and it’s getting harder to stay civil with Sam and Dean. I just feel like I’m losing control sometimes.” She admitted. “When I touched Dad’s notes, I had a vision. I can feel it, Bobby, whatever Frida had, I have.”
“Well, you call me if you start going dark. I still haven’t told your Dad or Dean about the sleepwalking.”
“Yeah, I haven’t told them anything yet. I’m scared they are going to do something drastic, especially if they find out I could drop dead because of some unknown spell. We’ve never dealt with anything this big before and Dad thinks something even bigger is happening, could they be related?”
“I have no clue hon, we just have to take it one step at a time,” Bobby said. He was never super emotional or anything, but he was more of a father to the siblings than their own Dad. in the year Jamie had been there, they had gotten closer. They had agreed that she could look for her Mom so long as she told Bobby everything and he promised to keep it between them until they couldn’t.
“So, what do you know about witnesses?” Jamie asked.
“Gee kid, let me just pull out my notes on biblical bloodlines,” Bobby said sarcastically. “Are you sure you should even mess with this? How can you even trust this guy?”
“I don’t know. It’s all I got right now.” Jamie said. Her order was brought to her table and she immediately dug into the soda float but she still thought about what Bobby said.
“Well if you do trust him maybe you shouldn’t do anything. He did say that the spell is protecting you from someone, you most likely don’t wanna meet them.”
“I know Bobby but you know when you wake up after not eating dinner. How the hunger stays through the day. That’s how I’ve felt since I was a kid. I just need closure.” Jamie said. She heard him sigh heavily on the other side of the line.
“Alright but, if I help you, you have to tell the boys. We can’t do this without them.” Bobby said. Jamie sighed. “And if we do break that spell, you are sticking it out in a safe house till we figure something out.”
Of course, she knew why these conditions existed. Even more so now that she knew there could be someone after her head. She debated for a moment. Was telling Bobby the best thing? It was the safest bet.
“I know, and I will tell them. If they find out from you I will never have freedom again but even though I just got all this information, I don’t think they will believe me until I either have evidence or they witness it. I want to avoid telling them about it if I can. When I first touched Dad’s notes, I saw a vision of him. It felt like someone threw gravity at me.” Bobby couldn’t help but chuckle. Just as he was about to say something, Jamie saw the familiar shape of the Impala pull up on the street. “I gotta go, Bobby, thanks.” She hung up quickly and grabbed her stuff. Sam and Dean were leaning on the car waiting for her.
“Here.” She passed the to-go to Dean, handing Sam the bags of supplies.
“Is this pie?” Dean asked untying the bag.
“No, it’s a bag of cat poop.” Jamie joked as she sipped on her soda. Dean cringed but peaked inside anyway.
“It is pie!” Dean said showing off the dessert to his brother as if to brag.
“Sam, why didn’t you tell me I could put ice cream in my soda?” Jamie asked innocently.
“Because it’s bad for you.” He said rolling his eyes. Dean put his hand out for the cup, wanting to try it. Jamie stared at him. Sam had been watching her since they pulled up, ever since the hospital she seemed off.
“I got you pie and now you want my soda shake?” She asked, offended. Dean nodded with a smirk.
“Gotta make sure it’s not poison.” He said sarcastically. Jamie handed the drink over to her brother and moved to the back door.
“Common, we have places to be boys.” She said, opening the door and hopping in. Her brothers followed.
“So. Who were you talking to?” Sam asked as they got ready to take off.
“Bobby. I forgot to call him last time so I filled him in.” Jamie answered. She was just staring out the window, sipping on her shake.
“Okay, what did you do?” Sam asked again.
“Went to a couple of shops, walked around. That’s it.” Which wasn’t at all a lie, it just wasn’t the full truth.
“Okay?” Sam said. he looked at his brother, who was more focused on picking a less-played cassette than anything else going on in the car. In Sam’s mind, something was wrong. Jamie was always excited to tell him about her day, whenever she did something new. He huffed to himself and looked back at the map. Glancing at the side mirror to see Jamie’s face in the window.
Her eyes were a little puffy. Was she crying?
“How much did you spend?” He asked in a joking manner. California was not cheap, never was and probably never will be.
“uh, maybe like two or three hundred, I’m not sure,” Jamie answered, not taking her gaze off the window.
“Where the hell did you spend three hundred dollars? You got maybe 50 bucks worth of supplies, that bag was probably another thirty, and food was twenty. Where did the other two hundred go?” He asked. “I’m not trying to tell you how to spend your money but why start spending it now?”
Dean had turned down the music. Hardly ever was Sam taking on the role of impromptu parent, but he was also curious and sam was hardly ever wrong about math. Dean listened silently, ever since he got back she had been acting weird, even before she was attacked. He couldn’t put his finger on it, Jamie had very few tells and they were always easy to miss.
Jamie still didn’t take her gaze off the window.
“Dude, you’re paranoid.” She said calmly.
“Then let me see your receipts.”
“Tossed em. Why would I carry around trash?” Jamie said. Sam was about to keep going back and forth with her when Dean joined in.
“Jamie.”
“Yes, Dean?” She said, she didn’t want to panic but she felt like the questioning wasn’t going to end well for her.
“Are you telling us the truth about what you did today?” He asked. He wasn’t even taking his eyes off the road, but his tone of voice told her he was serious. If she lied she would probably never go on a hunt again, or leave Bobby’s house. She had the receipts, but there was too much evidence about her excursion on them since she wrote down the spell on one of them. She debated for a while and remembered what Bobby said about telling them the truth. Maybe they would help her?
“Fine. You can’t be mad though.” She said scooting to the middle seat.
“Well, that depends. You already lied.” Sam said. He was usually more patient with her, the roles being reversed were weird.
“Right well, you shouldn’t dwell on the past Sam. I found someone who knew my mom and I asked for a favor.” Jamie said quickly.
Now it was Dean’s turn to be mad. The car jutted to a stop. Gravel kicked under Baby’s wheels as they pulled off the road.
“You what!?”
“Hey chill out, he didn’t know anything useful,” Jamie said, putting her hands up. She blinked. Dean hadn’t taken his eyes off of her. His brow was furrowed and his lips did not have the usual smirk. He looked torn like he was mad but didn’t want to be.
“Why do you always get mad when I talk about my mom? I know what you guys went through but that is no reason to punish me.” Jamie said, staring her brother in the eyes; if she looked away now it would be suspicious.
Sam blew air and leaned his head back. That’s what was off. She was still hiding the fact she was searching for her Mom. It was only weird because Jamie’s a chatterbox most of the time. She would talk about any and everything. Sam gulped and weighed his options.
Better late than never he thought to himself. Worse case Demario she does find her mom, she did kill those people and she kills Jamie. If they don’t know where she is they may never find her body.
“You’re right, but you don’t know the full story, Jamie,” Sam said. He wasn’t looking at his siblings. He couldn’t. He felt like his life was some huge fucking joke in that moment. Not because of what his siblings were saying, not because his Dad was M.I.A., it just felt like a joke. How he would never have a normal life how he could never really escape hunting or his dead mom, he was just done with it all.
“What do you mean, I don’t know the whole story? She called, she was gone I was there? Right?” Sam cringed when he heard the pitch in his sister’s voice change. She was always level-headed and headstrong. She never cared about anything but being okay but he knew that when she found out, it wouldn’t be pretty.
“Sam!” Dean scolded. He was glaring daggers at his brother. “Why the fuck would you say that?” He asked.
“Dean, she isn’t going to stop looking! When have we ever been able to give her a good reason not too? I’d rather she find her mom and we know than find her and something happens and we don’t know.”
“Yes, she is if she knows what’s good for her. She could get herself killed!”
“Dean, she needs to know the truth. We can’t keep treating her like she is some toddler! Jamie, when we picked you up that night you weren’t the only person in the house. Upstairs there were six men, dead. Dad never wanted you to know that your Mom was probably the one to kill them.” Sam said. He felt a weight lift from his shoulders. “There ya go. that’s the big secret. That is why they don’t want you to find your mom.”
Dean scoffed and threw his hands up. He was turning away from his sister and facing forward. Dean wanted to say something but what could he say? Over a decade of lies had just been unraveled by his brother and his sister had yet to speak.
“Okay. Fine. Let’s just go.” Jamie relented.
“Wait that’s it?” Sam asked, putting his hands up.
“What do you want me to say, Sam? That I’m angry? Do you want me to start crying like a child? There is nothing to change it. Thank you for telling me.”
The brothers said nothing. Dean turned the engine over and pulled onto the road. Jamie went back to her spot staring out the window.
The drive was silent except for the pur of the Impala and the wind that flew past it.
She wasn’t going to cry, she was far too old to start crying, but she felt it like a frog in her throat was trying to come up and choke her but she had to get over it. It was already done, it wouldn’t have changed anything, now she just knew.
Now that she knew the truth, however, all it did was confirm what Histor had told her, but the fact that six men were dead the night they got her, wasn’t in the story Histor told her.
She couldn’t prove Frida didn’t do it, but they can’t prove she did. Nothing Histor said about her would give the impression that she would kill six men, but you don’t know somebody till you do. Maybe Histor was biased. What if she died because she didn’t do anything about it? Would it just go away? Symptoms don’t usually just go away without getting rid of something.
“Dean, Sam?” Jamie broke the silence after the first sixty miles.
“Yeah?” They responded in unison.
“You guys would never leave me, right? No matter what?” Jamie asked. Her thoughts were racing with hypotheticals and possible bad endings for her story. “You wouldn’t let me die right? You’d move heaven and earth for me?”
“Of course, you are our sister, what makes you ask that?” Sam scoffed. He tossed a confused look at his brother.
“No reason, I just…you guys are all I have and if finding my Mom means losing you then I won’t do it…”
“Is that you’ve been thinking about for the past hour?” Sam asked, turning to look at his sister. She had turned on her side and was using Sam’s jacket as a blanket. He couldn’t see much of her face due to the lack of light but she looked half asleep.
“Jamie, even if you did find your Mom, we would never, ever leave you to die. We are family.” Dean said, Sam nodded in agreement, looking back at his baby sister.
“Jamie…what’s wrong? You’ve been off since the hospital.” Sam asked.
“I’m just tired. I guess I’m still getting better.” Jamie muttered.
Sam and Dean shared a look. Sam shrugged but Dean was starting to get worried. He kept quiet though, if anything they could talk when they were sure Jamie was asleep, but he knew something was going on with his little sister.
Jamie woke up to the loudest volume setting on the Impala, blaring Back in Black. She shot up and looked around. Her brother Dean couldn’t stop laughing as she looked around in a panic.
“What the fuck guys!?” She groaned. Sam leaned into the car and turned the music down, still chuckling. “I’m so getting you back for that.” She muttered. Jamie tossed Sam’s jacket by the cooler. She was rubbing her eyes and yawning. They were parked somewhere with a nice view.
“Hurry up, we have to take you to a motel before we check out the crime scene,” Dean said, tossing the tube of toothpaste onto her lap. Jamie sighed and drank some water to clear the dryness in her mouth. She grabbed her bag and dug through it, searching for the plastic baggie she kept.
Sam opened her door and handed her his cup. The one plastic cup they kept for rinsing.
“I almost forgot how shitty life on the road was.” She muttered as she put toothpaste on her brush and looked around. “Where even are we, how long did I sleep?” She asked. “Can’t I just stay in the car? Ya know, get away style?”
“We are about three miles out from the coordinates. You slept the whole time.” Sam answered.
“Right,” Jamie said. Still groggy and leaning on the Impala. Sam scoffed and got into the passenger seat. He looked at his brother who shrugged, switching out the cassette tapes.
Jamie slumped against the Impala as she brushed her teeth. She tiredly stared into the distance as she brushed. She wasn’t focused on anything in particular, just the dirt road she assumed they came from.
“Can I camp instead?” Jamie asked as she brushed.
“No, if there is a case out here the woods is the last place you want to be. There was a body found out here.” Sam answered. “Unless of course, you want to be eaten.” He shrugged.
“Haha, very funny,” Jamie said.
She was tired, which was weird because she slept for longer than usual, no weird nightmares making her wake up in a pool of her sweat, and no itchiness inside her ear. It was weird to wake up feeling normal.
“Besides, Sam and I were talking. Since you decided to lie, you get to stay in a motel.” Dean said, popping out on the other side of the car. Jamie turned around to face her brother. She wanted to scowel but she could barely keep her eyes open. She finished brushing and spit, making sure to turn away from the car. She rinsed and spit again.
“I don’t care, so long as I can sleep and order pizza.” She muttered. She took a look around and found a decently sized tree. “I’m gonna take a wizz.” Jamie turned and walked away, her hands in her pockets.
“That went smoother than I thought it would,” Dean said, shrugging at his brother. Sam watched while Jamie disappeared into the tree line.
“Do we have to make her sit this one out?” Sam asked.
“Yes! How will she learn if she doesn’t have consequences?” Dean asked.
“Well yeah, she is tired anyway. She slept the whole time.” Sam said. “What are we going to do if she does manage to find her mom?”
“Easy, we won’t let it happen,” Dean said.
“Dean, she is already looking on her own, who knows how much she knows,” Sam said. He didn’t want to throw his sister under the bus but there was no ignoring the obvious. “She is going to be 18 soon. We won’t be able to stop her then. I’m honestly surprised she isn’t putting up more of a fight about it.”
“Yeah, it’s suspicious but we got bigger problems right now.” He muttered, getting into the car. Sam followed.
“Ever since the hospital, she’s been weird,” Sam said. “I can’t put my finger on it, but she has been weird. Tell me I’m not the only one.”
“I know,” Dean muttered before sitting down in Baby.
Jamie returned shortly after, hands in her pockets and hair tied back. It always looked like some kind of puffy cloud when she put it up.
“Let’s go. I want a motel with wifi.” She told Sam not to bother to look at him before getting in the car. “When are we going to Bobby’s to fix the car?” She asked Dean.
“After this. I can’t bear to see my baby hurtin’.” He said, running his hands on the steering wheel.
“Kay.” That was all she replied with. Sam got in the car and they were off. While they drove they reviewed the newspaper article Dean had found but it wasn’t long till the car came to a slow stop.
Jamie had her backpack, her duffle, and her laptop bag. She stared up at her weirdly tall brothers, normally she would be extremely irritated that she was being left out. She would be fighting to go and help them.
“You guys are gonna wish I was there. You won’t have cell service.”
“We will be fine.” Sam chuckled.
“No leaving, no panhandling, don’t open the door for anyone, and no research,” Dean said with a shrewd face.
“Sure thing, Mom.” Jamie rolled her eyes and turned away. Heading towards the checkout room. She didn’t bother looking back.
Sam gave Dean a concerned look.
“We can talk on the road,” he muttered, getting back in the car and driving away.
Jamie let her shoulders drop when she stepped into the lobby of the motel. Why it had to be so far out of town, she had no idea. It felt planned. Like they didn’t want her to have anything to do. She sighed and examined the room. It was very brown but everything looked relatively new.
“Welcome, how can I help you, little lady.”
“Hey, I need a room for the night. Two beds please.” She said she made sure to grab her fake ID. The photo was of her, but the name and information were just short of the truth. Easy to remember. Dean had made it the one time it was just the two on a case and they needed to see the body.
The clerk took her ID and examined it carefully.
“You don’t look 23, you look younger.” He said with a raised brow. He was bending the ID and scratching at it.
Jamie rolled her eyes. “Thanks for the compliment. Can I get my key now? My brothers will be here sometime in the night as well. Let them up. One will be freakishly tall and the other one will look a douchebag.” She said, handing him a hundred bill. “and I need the wifi password.” She added. the clerk counted the money and shrugged. Lying about your age was the easiest thing, it was as easy as just having confidence.
“Password is, Hitchcross. Capital H.” He said handing her a key to room 12. She nodded and thanked the man before heading towards the room.
It was cleaner than she expected for a motel damn near in the middle of nowhere. The beds had blue quits and a lot of pillows. There was a mini fridge and a distinct smell of pine and something floral.
“At least I get it to myself for a while.” She sighed. Jamie dropped her bags and went to inspect the bathroom and the towels.
It was a simple bathroom with a tub and shower, nothing fancy but not dingy like she was worried about using it, so that was a plus.
It felt like when she was a kid and it was just her in the motel. For a while, it was her and Sammy, sometimes Dean. More often than not it’s just her now.
“Nothing a hot bath can’t fix.” She muttered to herself while she tested the water temperature. She couldn’t remember the last time she took a bath just to relax. The burns were mostly just scabs now, they couldn’t have been as bad as the hospital was telling her. She was just sore now.
Jamie sighed as she lowered herself into the bath. Hardly ever did she get a full bath to herself, usually one of her brothers had to use the bathroom before she got to relax.
It was all crazy to think about. Her Dad is missing, who killed her brother’s Mom, killed Sam’s girlfriend, and tried to attack her. She is some kind of witness, her powers might kill her, and she is fighting monsters rather than working at the grocery store.
That one wasn’t really out of the norm though.
“So many questions. I wish I had someone to talk about it with. Would God answer my prayers? Is that how it would work?”
Jamie stared at the bubbles that floated in her lap. The steam that rose from the water and how the smell of her soap. How all of it felt so visceral, how it didn’t feel any different than any other day in her life. Her sad, dirty little life.
Almost everything was silent. The only sound being made was the sound of the bubbles. Popping away as they reached their limit.
“Crazy, how a mind could compare something as short-lived as a bubble, to that of a human life, to an impact of change,” Jamie muttered to herself. She felt in a daze, like when the buzz starts to wear off on the walk home and everything starts coming back to you, all your inhibitions coming back to the forefront of the mind.
“Should I follow this path? What else would I do? Become a therapist? That sounds too depressing.”
“You will never be able to stray from your destiny. Jamie.”
“I don’t believe in destin-” Jamie looked up, panicked. It was her, in the tub…with her. She looked around again, she wasn’t in the motel anymore.
“What the fuck?” She asked, putting her arms up to get out of the tub.
“I wouldn’t try that. It’s easy to get lost in there.” Other Jamie said.
“Where am I? Who are you?” Jamie asked. She checked her senses again. She was definitely in the water still, she could still smell the soap.
“In your mind. You wanted someone to talk to. Here we are.” The Other Jamie lifted her hands as if to showcase the expanse of emptiness that currently surrounded them.
“Okay, I must have fallen asleep. I need to wake up,” Jamie said, splashing her face with the water and slapping her cheeks as if it were a lucid dream.
“This isn’t a lucid dream Jamie. You are here, in your mind. Well, a version of it. You are still in the real world, I can assure you. If you get out of this tub here, your body will do the same thing but you wanted to talk, so let’s talk.”
The Other Jamie smiled.
“So are you my subconscious or something?” Jamie asked.
“You could say that. I already know everything you are thinking, I look just like you. You can call me whatever you want.” Other Jamie shrugged.
“Okay, well what am I supposed to talk about now if you-I already know everything I’m thinking,” Jamie asked.
“Well, you don’t know everything you are thinking.”
“How so?”
“Awareness is the greatest part of free will. We have a gift for it. The more aware of the seal and our abilities you become, the more they will present themselves. Whether we can control it or not. Self-”
“Self-actualization is the gateway drug,” Jamie said. She was finishing her sentence. Other Jamie nodded with a smile.
“Your question was what to do next. right? Where to go from here after talking to Histor? How to tell Sam and Dean the truth?”
“I guess. I mean, how would I even tell them? Dad is missing, Sam's girlfriend just died. That should be my biggest priority, but I don’t feel like it is.”
“Ah, the heart…the soul. At the end of the day, we have to do what is best for us. Sam and Dean will always have a life outside of us. We should tell them because they are family, but do we have to? Do we want to?” Other Jamie asked.
“Well, I do. I want my brothers by my side. They are all I’ve ever known. Finding Frida only means finding answers and there will probably be more questions. They said I would still be their sister even if I found her.”
“That was one thing about Dad and the boys we never understood. Believing that the next step was the answer. Look how that turned out and they will. You could kill a man and they would help you hide the body, but what if it ends up just like Dad and Sam?” Other Jamie snickered.
“Right, Dean isn’t Dad though. These are all irrational thoughts. I suppose the only real question I have is where to go next?”
“You already know where to go next.”
“The Box.”
Jamie was back in the motel. Still in the bathtub. Any normal person would have questions as to what the fuck just happened. Jamie already knew it had something to do with her powers.
She looked around and stood up. Grabbing a towel and wrapping it around herself. She headed towards her bag. She had dropped them onto the beds before she ran the bath.
She tore into the bag, grabbing the box Histor had given her. She set it in front of her. Weighing her options. There is a chance something else could happen if the same rules apply and she is sent somewhere by the book, she will be naked.
Jamie got up and grabbed her clothes bag, taking out some jeans, underclothes, and one of Dean’s old hand-me-down band-tees she kept.
“I guess I shouldn’t feel weird about talking to myself now,” Jamie muttered to herself, she looked around just in case she manifested another hallucination. “Whatever that was had to be a side effect.”
Jamie gulped and sat back down in front of the box. She wondered what would happen. Maybe it would kill her.
Slowly, Jamie undid the latches on the box and opened it. There was no bright light or horrid smell like she expected. It was a book—a spiral-bound book with a bright green leather cover.
“That was anti-climactic.” She said to herself. She grabbed the book and opened it. It was some kind of journal, not a published book, it would have been typed if it was. There was no title or author. Jamie flipped through the pages, barely able to tell what the words were supposed to be. It looks written in multiple languages.
“What the heck?” She said to herself. “All that and it’s just a boo-”
Early Morning
“What do you think Jamie has been doing?” Sam asked as they drove back.
“No clue, she better not have checked herself out though,” Dean said, taking a drink from his beer. Sam wanted to say more but he didn’t even know where to start.
“I’m worried about her, Dean. She isn’t acting like herself, ever since the fire.”
“Well, something like that changes you, but I see where you are coming from.”
“It’s not just that. It’s something else.” Sam said, taking a drink of his beer.
“She is a teenage girl, Sam. Something is off about all of them.”
“When has Jamie ever been a normal teenage girl? Person in general who also happens to be a girl?”
“Why don’t you ask her? You two were buddy-buddy all last year.” Dean said as he put the car in park.
Sam remained silent but got out of the car with his brother. They grabbed their stuff and headed into the Lobby.
“Hi, we’re looking for our sister. Debbie Derst.”
“She was right, you are freakishly tall.” The clerk was staring at Sam with a mix of disgust and amazement. Dean laughed and took the key. Sam glared and gave a nod to the clerk.
“Thanks,” Sam muttered as he followed his brother.
“hang on.” The clerk spoke up. The brothers took a few steps back and listened. The clerk looked around and leaned over to peek down the hall before making eye contact with the brothers again. “ I don’t want to speak ill of your sister but some loud noises were coming from up there a couple of hours ago. I went to check on her but I couldn’t open the door, even my master key didn’t work.”
The clerk said, getting up from his seat and following the men. They stopped and turned.
“What do you mean, loud noises?” Sam asked. He searched the man for a name tag but didn’t see one.
“Oh, call me Earl.”
“You’ve been here all night, Earl?” Dean asked, looking down the hallway. Room twelve was in the creepiest spot—the very end of the hallway.
“Yes, I have. Around six or so, the lights started flickering and then there was all the noise. It’s been silent ever since.”
“Did you call the police?” Sam asked, glancing at his brother.
“Do I look like a snitch to you mister?” Earl asked. He put a hand on his hip and gave Sam an ‘are-you as stupid-as-you-are-tall? look.
Sam and Dean gave each other a concerned look.
“uhm, our sister sleepwalks. She probably just knocked something over,” Dean said, giving a curt nod and a smile. “Sam, let’s go,” He whispered.
Sam and Dean approached the door apprehensively. Dean watched as the fluorescent light slightly dimmed.
“Will this key work?” Sam asked as he watched his brother.
“It better work or I’m dropping lead,” Dean said as he pushed the key in. He tried to turn it but it wouldn’t budge. Dean turned and looked the other way down the hall. Earl was back at his desk.
“Why would Jamie lock herself inside?” Sam asked.
“I don’t think she did,” Dean muttered as he crouched to be eye level with the lock. He grabbed his lock-picking kit and got to work.
The door flung open.
“What the fuck?” Jamie said. She was only halfway showing her face. When she saw her brothers she sighed in relief. “Oh, it’s just you two. I could have killed you ya know?” She said, opening the door fully. She had one of their guns in her hand.
Dean stood up and nodded. “Why wasn’t the key working?” he asked.
“What do you mean? Mine works.” She said as the boys entered the room.
“Jamie, Earl said he heard loud noises coming from here, the lights started flickering and the key didn’t work,” Sam said as he dropped his bag down.
“Well, Earl is an idiot because it’s been quiet as a mouse here. I’ve been asleep, woke up like an hour ago.” She answered, going back to her spot on the farthest bed. “How was the hunt? You guys look like shit.” She said.
“It was a wendigo,” Dean answered. Taking a seat on the edge of the bed with a beer.
“Ouch. Those things aren’t usually out this far.” She replied calmly.
“Tell me about it,” Sam said. He grabbed the remote and clicked through the channels.
The siblings fell into silence. Jamie could feel the pit in her stomach grow. She stared at the back of her brother’s head.
Twelve hours ago, when she interacted with people she could just barely sense what they were feeling unless it was a prominent emotion when they were strong, like fear or happiness. Now she felt like she could sense everything.
“You guys hungry?” Jamie asked, standing up.
“We ate on the road. You?” Dean said, looking back at her.
“Uh, no. I ate some sleep and then had some sleep for dessert.” She joked.
“We’ll get something on the way out of town,” Dean said, leaning back and looking up at the ceiling.
Jamie nodded and looked down at the floor where she had stashed the box, it was just barely peaking out from under the bed.
The truth is she didn’t know what she was doing for the last hour. She woke up to the sound of the lock being picked and jumped up. She had no memory of the last twelve hours she had been in the room.

6. The Magic Emporium (Winchester x Younger siblings oc)
Tumblr media
yeet so I finally found a face claim for Jamie but you can image her however you want. This is just pretty close to how i see her. but enjoy this chapter. lots is revealed lol. let me know what ya think (yes ik this is actually riley from hellrasier, ignore that lol)
about 6k words some some change
Sam and Dean were gone for a while, they decided just to get a motel room so they didn’t have to plan around visiting hours to see Jamie, not that she minded. She liked being separated from her brothers sometimes. It made her feel like more of an individual than just a Winchester.
Of course, she loved her family and would die for them in a heartbeat but she still enjoyed her own time and secrets. Sam and Dean raised her as far back as she could remember. Dean was more of a parent than her actual Dad ever was. She always knew she was grateful that Sam and Dean wanted her, likely more than Dad ever did. They could have easily left her to be someone else’s problem instead.
“Don’t worry Jamie. Just because you are our half-sister by blood doesn’t make you any less our sister. You are a Winchester and always will be, we will always be your annoying older brothers.”
Sam had said that to her many years ago when she was first starting school and got bullied for not looking like her brothers, just because of her curly hair and tan skin. Kids were cruel but not everyone can chop heads off as a source of anger management.
Jamie sighed as she sipped on her apple juice. She had been staring at her new laptop for hours. She told Sam and Dean that she was going to try and find some more information on Dad’s notes and see if there was anything behind them. Which she did for a short period. Finding a few footnotes and built a reading list of lore that she could correlate to what her Dad was talking about but after a while, she had gone through every piece of paper and it made even less sense to her.
“Okay, so we have angels and demons. Celestial beings that can predate mankind, beings that are a corrupted version of mankind. Different monsters that are only seen in certain parts of America coordinates to multiple locations, and a whole lot of nothing.” She sighed. She couldn’t help but stare at the paperwork. All this time and nothing about her mother, nothing about the woman who brought her into this godforsaken world. Just more monsters.
She sighed and picked up her phone. She scrolled through her contacts till she got to Dean. She dialed and it rang a couple of times.
“Hey, what’s up?” Dean’s voice came from the other side.
“The sky.” Jamie joked. “Any luck on the hunt?” She asked.
“No, we’ve been looking everywhere and asking just about every Jake, Kyle, and Crystal we see every question we can but nothing.”
“Well, I may have found something in Dad’s notes. I found a couple of sets of coordinates and some information on more of our kind of weird. The first set was the road in Jericho where we faced the woman in white, the next place is in Colorado.” Jamie said as she pulled up her digital map where she marked all the coordinates.
“I’ve charted them down but without Dad’s journal, I can’t connect them to anything. It’s all bits and pieces.”
“You did all of that in two days?” Dean asked. There was a pause, she could hear him talking to someone else, probably Sam. “Hang on, I’m going to put you on speaker,” Dean said. There was a beep
“Hey June Bug,” Sam said from the other side. It never failed to make her feel better to hear her brother’s voice.
“Hey, how are you holding up?” Jamie asked. She peeked out her window when she saw someone coming by. The door knob never turned so she continued.
“We’re okay, just doing our jobs,” Dean interjected with a scoff.
“So am I went through Dad’s notes and found coordinates, but I need his journal to fact-check.” She summarized.
“Oh okay, well, we are just about done here, we were heading your way anyway,” Sam said.
“Okay. Can you try to get me checked out of here? I feel fine. I even walked around.” Jamie pleaded.
Her brothers scoffed and the line cut off. Jamie threw her hands up in frustration. She hated hospitals. Just like the rest of her family. It was a Winchester curse to have bad experiences with hospitals.
She was already wary of them as a child when her brother had confessed hospitals creep him out. Sam didn’t like them too much because of the smell. It was all to comfort her as she waited for her flu shot, but the real reason she didn’t like them was because the only time she ever got her father to pick her up from school.
Her stomach had been bugging her all week. her brothers knew it, her teachers knew it, and even her Dad knew it, but she always refused the doctors, until the Friday of that week when she couldn’t take it anymore and went to the school nurse. The phone call to her father was terrifying but when the lady explained all of her symptoms and that it could be an infection, he rushed over.
Her Dad was more gentle with her, she always knew it, but he also wanted her to tough it out. At the time it had been a while since her Dad had spoken so gently to her, but was apologetic without even saying it, but the stomach ache wasn’t the reason Jamie hated hospitals. It was that day, at 9 years old, she learned that wraiths love hospitals.
She ended up just having a gnarly stomach infection but it wasn’t anything serious.
Her brothers didn’t believe her till her Dad told them to put their shoes on and follow him. They knew not to question their father and subsequently Jamie. She remembered sticking her tongue out at them as they marched outside with their father leading the way.
“Hey, June Bug.” Dean’s voice broke Jamie’s train of thought. He took off his jacket and hung it on the back of his chair, kicking his feet up onto her bed and sighing. Sam rolled his eyes and took the other side.
“Did you talk to the doctors?” She asked, scratching her brow.
“We did. They said they want to run some tests and make sure you don’t need any more in-house treatment before they discharge you.” Sam said with a smile.
“Nice!” Jamie fist-pumped the air. She was still sore but she wasn’t going to get any more limber sitting in bed. Especially when they might have another case.
“So what did you find in Dad’s stuff?” Dean asked.
“Well, it’s a lot and it’s a lot of nothing at the same time…if that makes sense,” Jamie said, raising her eyebrows and picking up a stack of the papers. So there are only a few coordinates for Colorado, Wisconsin, and Pennsilveiya.”
Sam grabbed the journal from the duffle bag he carried in, flipping through the pages until he found what he was looking for.
“Right here. it said Blackwater, Manitoc, Catasauqua.” Sam said, pointing at the page in the book that listed the sites.
“Looks about right. What are we going to do?” Jamie asked. The younger siblings looked at their older brother. he thought for a moment.
“Well, the only way too Dad, is to follow him and hope we catch up. We can stick around for another day or two, see if we can find out anything else about Jess’s death and then we hit the road.”
It sounded easy, but things never were.
When her brothers left it was just her again. Jamie stared at her new laptop, she wondered if she would even find anything. It started with simple name and location searches. Research on psychics and what they did. She found a website that told all the secrets of fake psychics and magicians, a page dedicated to some kind of weird mind-reading role-play.
“Hmm, maybe if I narrow down the search to Texas?” She asked herself, aimlessly scratching at her neck.
-time break-
“Finally, fresh air!” Jamie said as she walked out of the hospital. The doctors cleared her to leave and she was out faster than a worm in a pickle.
“Calm down, we still have to get back to the motel,” Sam said as he watched his sister.
“yeah, yeah whatever. Say that after you spend a week in bed.” Jamie said, stretching her arms. Sam and Dean watched for any kind of wince or limp in their sister as she stretched.
“Guys, I am fine! One little tumble isn’t enough to keep me down! Relax a little.” She joked. “I want to do some shopping before we go. I need a few things.” She said approaching her brothers. They were still outside the hospital but when she stopped they did. A terrible habit they had.
“Why?” Dean asked. Jamie could tell he was still upset about the money, but there was nothing she could do about that. The majority of it was made after they dropped her off at Bobby’s.
“Well, I need a laptop bag and I’m in California! I want to get a pin from every state for the bag.” She said, which was mostly true but she figured she would have more time to do what she wanted before they went to Colorado.
“I don’t see the problem. We can drop you off downtown, that’s a good shopping area.” Sam said, shrugging.
“Whatever,” Dean said, walking past them and to the car.
“He’s mad at me isn’t he Sammy?” Jamie asked as they followed shortly behind Dean.
“No, he isn’t mad. Don’t worry.” Sam said. Jamie sighed. The drove was silent, just Black Sabbath
“We will be back in a couple of hours. We have one more place to check out.” Dean said, looking up at his baby sister.
“Okay, is there anything you guys need?” She asked, leaning down to look at both of them. Sam and Dean looked at each other, she always knew that life on the road wasn’t easy and packing light was always rule number one.
“Toothpaste.” Dean huffed.
“Toothpaste, okay. Anything you need Sam, never mind, I’ll just get you the basics.” Jamie said. She had completely forgotten his apartment burned down. He probably didn’t have anything but the clothes he packed.
Sam nodded, he was still very upset and was trying to stay strong.
“We’ll be back at 7. So we can avoid traffic.” Dean said, taking a quick look at this watch. Jamie nodded and stepped away from the curb. Dean saluted and pulled off the curb. Jamie watched them for a moment before turning to the mall.
“Alrighty Jamie. Here’s to a 4-hour adventure.” She said to herself. All she had was her backpack, 800 dollars, and high hopes. As Jamie walked she made a mental checklist.
‘toothpaste, deodorant, toothbrush, comb, shampoo, conditioner, body spray.’ All things she had to buy but not the reason she wanted to have some alone time. She was on a hunt.
“Okay, let me get their stuff first so I don’t forget. Gotta find somewhere with pie before 6:45.” Jamie continued to mutter to herself as she walked down the street. Looking for a store that wasn’t her entire budget for a cardigan.
She found a small grocery outlet and grabbed a hand basket, most of it was pretty cheap, it was just a few things here and there. She handed the cashier thirty dollars and looked around, seeing some candy and lottery tickets. Nothing she could concern herself with right now. She still needed her alibi receipt.
Jamie thanked the clerk and left, looking around again. There were lots of outlets, lots to choose from, where she got the bag didn’t matter, so long as it would fit her laptop without letting anything slip out.
Having to run for your life is usually part of the job.
She found herself in a small boutique, it had a very barnyard aesthetic, star hats, and flannel. Flannel was okay, it kept you warm but she preferred something a little less, lumberjack. She browsed for a moment, walking around the shopping area once and assessing where the cameras were. There wasn’t a sensor on the door so in theory, she could walk out with just about anything she wanted.
“Do you have laptop bags or pins?” She asked the woman at the desk. It was just the two of them.
“We have pins but for bags we mostly sell purses.” The woman answered not looking up from her newspaper. The front page was the fire that killed one and demolished an old apartment building.
Jamie looked away and walked out. There wasn’t anything there that matched her style. Plus expensive things are more likely to be stolen if you live on the road.
She found a California Bear pin she liked, only five bucks. She purchased it and kept her receipt.
While she was in the hospital, she was doing more research than just scouring through her Dad’s notes. She had her own hunt to worry about as much as she wanted to find their Dad and whatever killed Jess, she had to focus on herself now.
Sure, her Dad being missing and possibly dead should be a top priority, and it is but she just needed some information. Luckily there was a psychic that worked nearby, only a few blocks due east.
When she was researching, she couldn’t help but use her new laptop to search for her Mom, she had done it before with little results and this time was an even less fruitful search. Her next guess was that another psychic knew her and she was sure this one did.
Histor De la Croix. A 50-year-old fortune teller, mind reader, and magic practitioner. Who was based out of Texas the year Jamie was born. How she got so lucky to find him in the same town her brother was in was nothing short of a miracle.
“I hope he knows something about her, even a picture would help.” She muttered to herself and she read the shop names. She had mapped it all out while in the hospital.
Did Jamie know why she was looking for her mother? Yes and No. Her family was her family and she didn’t consider her mother's family, she would be okay if her Mother still wanted nothing to do with her, at least that’s how her father and Dean made it seem, but at the same time, she couldn’t ignore the facts.
She had some kind of power and it was making things worse. Waking up in fields, feeling like she didn’t know who she was, losing time, all things that happened once she turned 17 and Sam left. She never told her brothers, they barely talked. Bobby knew he was the one who found her in the junkyard at six am.
It wasn’t just a few weird occurrences. She never liked violence and only killed when she had to, she has only killed a handful of monsters but it never stopped making her sad. They have to eat just like she does. When she killed her very first vampire, she was 12. It was out of necessity since Sam had refused to go again. When she faced him, and swung her machete like her father taught her, she felt the fear he felt. The way his body reacted to the swing of death she delivered. How she felt it for several minutes after his head had rolled to her Father’s feet.
Despite the experience, it was one of the few times her father had patted her on the back with a smile.
“Good job, June Bug. Let’s not wait around next time though.”
The way Dean bragged to Sam about her when they got home, claiming he knew she was always the better hunter, even Dad had piped in when Sam started digging back at Dean.
“Boys. Watch TV or sleep, Jamie still has homework to finish since someone chickened out.”
Jamie stopped in front of a small shop, barely decorated with blacked-out windows. It sat alone on the corner of the block. minimally decorated compared to the other magic shops she had seen online.
“The Magic Emporium.” She said to herself. It was the right place, but it didn’t look to be occupied. Compared to the rest of the shops, this one looked abandoned.
She tried to open the door but it was locked. Closed. Jamie tried to peek into the windows but the shades were too dark. She sighed and went around the back of the shop, looking around in case anyone saw her or her brothers managed to tail her.
There was a small window that wasn’t covered, about two feet by two feet in size. She could easily fit through it if she left her backpack. She grabbed her pocket knife and carefully slid the lock out of place, using the gap between the sill and the seal. It took a few tries but she managed to move it enough to open the window.
“Here goes a misdemeanor.” She muttered to herself as she peered her head in. There wasn’t anything blocking the window. She went in feet first, holding her backpack in one hand as she entered the building, shutting the window behind her.
She took a moment to listen for any sound. The lights were off but the window provided just enough for her to see the silo of small statues and large plants. Jamie walked around for a moment, heading towards the door she had seen earlier, doing her best to make as little noise as possible.
Jamie was about to flip some kind of switch when she heard the familiar sound of a gun cocking. She froze in her place, in the dark.
“Who a’e ya?” A male voice asked from behind her.
“Uhm, nobody.” She said, turning around with her hands up. She moved slowly, just like her father had told her. She didn’t bring any weapons except for her pocket knife, but what good was a knife in a gunfight, in the dark?
“What a’e ya doi 'n in my shop?”
“I’m here for Histor De la Croix and I’m a student. Are you him?” She said. A partial truth but she couldn’t help but want to avoid an unnecessary risk. A man is less likely to shoot an innocent with no name, versus a burglar with a name he may not like. If he truly knew her Mom, there is a chance he knows her Dad.
“Well if nob’dy askin why would I be tell’n?” The man shuffled to the side, not taking his eyes off Jamie, he flipped the light switch on and the space illuminated. Jamie looked around the statues, shaman masks, paintings, and framed documents scattered on the walls. Copious amounts of plants and miscellaneous supplies. Histor was a lanky man, looked like one gust of wind would knock him over. Dark, messy hair and ungroomed facial hair.
Jamie had no choice at this point. If he wanted to shoot her he would have done it already. Called the police and said someone had broken in, what’s an old man’s word to a dead girl? She had to gamble that the truth would set her free this time. It was her last chance.
“My name is Jamie Winchester. I’m a hunter and I need your help.” She said, hands still in the air. She watched the man like a hawk. He stepped closer, rifle still aimed right at Jamie.
“Why should I help a hun’er?” He asked suspiciously.
“Because I am also the daughter of Frida, did you know her?” Histor’s expression changed when he heard Frida’s name. He slowly lowered the gun, furrowing his brows as if to look at her face. Jamie could tell he was getting overwhelmed just at the mention of her mother’s name.
“You are the baby arem’t ya? That ole’ hun’ers bastard” The man asked, he was still holding the gun but it was lowered enough for Jamie to lower her hands as well.
“If you mean, John Winchester, then yes. I need your help, I just need information.” Jamie said, taking a step. Histor sighed and looked Jamie up and down. He wasn’t impressed.
“She warned me this would hap’pn s’mes day. Come on with me child.” The man beckoned as he walked deeper into the building. Jamie couldn’t help but be taken aback by his sudden calmness.
“What kind of magic practitioner are you?” Jamie asked as she took a few steps forward. The hallway Histor was heading towards seemed menacing, deeper than it should be. Like it almost wasn’t supposed to be there.
“Spells and material magic. I study magic that can be car’id in objects. But cha mama, she was in a diff’ernt league. She was magic all on ‘er own.” Histor explained as they walked, not even bothering to look back at Jamie as she watched the walls around her. They weren’t moving, but they weren’t solitary either. She felt like she was about to enter a room that was the love child of a fun house and a house of mirrors but as Histor spoke about her Mom, the feelings of unease and fear drifted away as she latched onto whatever positive emotion she was feeling from Histor.
“Uhm yeah, so I’m looking for her and I was wondering if you knew anything else about her?” Jamie said as they walked. They seemed to be going much deeper than the building allowed.
“You won’t fin’ her I can tell you that. The night she left you she only did it for you’s and those pesky hun’er boys safe.” He said with an irritated tone. “All yous woulda been mince if she hadn’t. I havn’t the faintest how she had a soft spot fo’ dem boys.”
“For real, they are douche bags. But you said she was trying to keep me safe? Safe from what?” Jamie asked.
“Ya mama was one of the last of an ancient bloodline. Do you know wha’ a Witness is?” Histor asked. They entered an even smaller room, just a table and a few chairs with a chest of drawers and a TV stacked on some boxes.
“A witness? Like at a crime scene?” Jamie asked. Histor took a seat in the rolling chair and got comfortable.
“No, more in the biblical sense. A witness is a mem’er of a powe’ful bloodline datin’ back to the time of Jesus and the disciples.” Histor said. “Come sit. We have much to talk about.” Histor waved at her. Jamie grabbed one of the chairs and sat on the other side of the table.
“Is that why I have Empathy?” Jamie asked. For a moment Histor seemed to pause before speaking up.
“Yes, being a witness does have its perks. Let me guess, it seems like you can pick up just about any skill like you’ve master’ed it?” Jamie considered for a moment. To think about being good at everything made her feel vain. For a moment she looked back on all the new things she had tried and how they were never as difficult as people made them out to be. Reluctantly she nodded. Histor scoffed.
“Just like ya mama, ya is. ya get visions of the to be o’e the al’eady been?” Jamie nodded. “It will just get wo’se ya see. Ya will get strong but that’s not the only thing. Throughout hist’ry, there have always been two witnesses. When one dies, the next ones powe’s awaken. A continuous, cosmic cycle. Your powe’s will grow as your mind does because of ya soul.” Histor explained.
“Wait, so what I’m a reincarnation?” Jamie asked.
“No clue. But, when ya born, Frida and the second witness, a fool they called Marshall. They was in a bad way when you came along ya see. So the night ya born Frida placed a spell over ya. Protection from the witness’s eyes. So he couldn’t find ya.”
“Wait so, is he going to come after me?” Jamie asked.
“Yes. It is a fate very few are destined for. You are a protector of sorts.” Histor was staring at her intently. How her eyes shifted and her expression changed ever so slightly as he spoke. “The man, Marshal came and asked me about ya, he was convinced yous were his blood.”
“Wait, my dad might not be my dad?” Jamie asked. This was the moment her world started rocking. John might not be her dad, then Sam and Dean aren’t her brothers… she was reeling. “Am I? of his blood?” She gulped. Her hands were starting to sweat.
“Oh, baby child, no yous is ya Daddy’s. There is no question about that. Ya, mama would neva lie about something as se’rious as family..”
“What was Marshal?” She asked.
“He and Frida used to be thick as thieves till he was corrupted by a bunch of old dark magic. Frida managed to get away from him, ya came along and she had to do something. That’s why she made that spell of hers. She told me when ya pow’rs full awaken one of em would be dead but she couldn’t take the risk that it wouldn’t be him. So she cast the spell that night in Texas. She said it would suppress your soul’s power so he couldn’t find ya.”
They sat in silence for a moment. Jamie was absorbing all the information, she felt like she had just been tossed into a grain mill and her brain was being milled to mush.
“ya think i’m ly’in to ya dont ya child.” histor said, leaning back with some kind of smirking smile on his face.
“I’ve heard a lot of crazy and this takes the cake but no, Histor. I know you aren’t lying to me.” Jamie said, blowing air out of her cheeks. “I can feel it. I always say Lady Luck has a crush on me, but now I don’t even know what to think.” She shrugged.
“It’s like turmoil isn’t it. In ya heart. It’s the call of the witness. The way Frida explained ‘er powers. It was like being connected to eve’ythin’. But she knew she had a greater purpouse, she met Marshal and learned even more. Her abilites grew and grew and I bet yous will too but listen to me now child. This is as true as the sky is blue. I may be an old fart but you broke into my home looking for answers. you think that’s just chance?”
Jamie considered it for a moment. She felt no malice or deceit from Histor, he had no reason to lie to her at this point. Either of them could have made a move. Jamie sighed. She definitely couldn’t tell her brothers about this, if her Dad knew this whole time was he ever going to tell her?
“You said my abilities will grow? How are we talkin?” Jamie asked. If it was real, she had to take it seriously. It’s her only lead after all. She had to treat it just like she did the Shapeshifter, leaving no stone unturned. She would interview every psychic, medium, or shaman that was in Texas at the time whether they were dead or alive if she had to.
“Yes, they will. What they will be I have not the faintest of clues. Ya Mama could move objects and people with her mind sometimes, compelling them to tell her the truth. I know that as your powe’s grow, the spell she cast will try to fight them and there will be negative side effects until the spell is eventually broken.” Histor explained. He turned around in his chair and opened one of the trunks.
“Negative effects like… sleepwalking?” Jamie asked, leaning forward and trying to see what he was doing.
“No clue, ya might get sick, might experience prophetic nightmares, explode, might explode people around you. Ya might just flat-out drop dead. The spells Frida used were ‘er own. This is all I have left of ‘er.” Histor said as he placed a metal box on the table. he undid the latches and opened it. “I knew ya mama since we was youngins. She was always talented and very grown up for her age, but when she turned 18 things started to change. She had nightmares and would often completely forget where she was. It may be the same for ya. Frida neva explained er’thing to me, but by the time we par’ted ways, she was as strong as a demon.”
Jamie was on the edge of her seat. This was the closest she had ever been and she had no idea where she could go from here. What could it be? A letter, a photo, some kind of book, or a clue? What exactly was Frida getting at? Histor said she knew Jamie would come looking for him in search of her. How much does he know?
Millions of questions ran through Jamie’s head like a high school mile as she watched Histor. Everything felt like a dream, she tried to take in every detail she could, not miss a single thing the man had said.
Histor reached into the box and pulled out a small gem, strung on twine. He looked at it deeply before placing it on the table.
“I know how this all must seem to ya but ya mama was only doin’ what was best for ya given ya’lls situation. She left me this and told me to “give it to my gal when she finds you.” and I ain’t seen ‘er since. You are the only gal who has come to see me since 1999.” he confessed.
“I am in way over my head…” She muttered, reaching for the gem. “I need two more favors and I will pay and be on my way, Histor,” Jamie said, pulling out the bills she kept in her pocket. Histor was shocked for a moment but when he saw the amount he couldn’t help but accept.
“Ya Frida child, I give ya the discount.” Histor winked and nodded for her to continue.
“The spell. How do I break it?”
“I haven’t the foggiest. I do know a spell that could undo any spell. It’s not easy though and you could die. When spells like the ones ya mama cast are broken, often they take somethin’ to remember ya by.”
Histor was watching Jamie intently the entire time. He knew this day would come because Frida told him. He stared at Jamie and she stared back. She had the same thick curls and tan skin Frida had, even her freckles matched. He felt like he was staring at a time machine.
“Ya look just like ya mama ya know that?” Histor said. Jamie looked up, surprised and then sad.
“Really?” She asked as she fiddled with the gemstone. It was probably a jade if she had to guess but now it was so much more than just a jade, or just a pendant. She put it around her neck.
“I was in love with her since we was babes. I could never forget her face.” Histor stood up and walked to the other side of the room. Jamie watched as he shuffled through old files.
“You were in love with my Mom? What was she like?” Jamie asked from her seat.
“Oh, she was like a breath of fresh air and a burning fire at the same time. Ya Daddy didn’t get to know er too well before he beat it but she was one of a kind, and loved ya very much. Thats why she did what she did.” Histor said, pausing from his tasks and looking up, as if reflecting on a momemory.
“Here, I drew this the year ya mama vanished. This is ya mama.” He said, bringing over a piece of parchment. It was a drawing of a woman. Jamie was shocked at how much she looked like the photo, just a younger version.
“That’s my Mom?” She asked. She cautsiouly took the photo in her hand, hoping she would experience some kind of vision but nothing happened. Her mother was a pretty woman, A strong jaw line and nose, deep eyes and dark, unruly curls. In the photo she looked about thirty.
Histor reclaimed his seat on the other side of the table.
“Her Daddy was a black guy from over the train tracks, her mama was immigrant hunter who moved to America to live a normal life. When ya mama’s powers came along and her parents found out, they kicked her to the curb and she stayed with my family for a long time. Then she met Marshal and he told her about this ‘great purpose’ she served in a Holy War. A load of bullshit if you ask me but that’s how it happened. After she met Marshal we talked less and less. He tried to indoctrinate her but it was a whole mess when ya Daddy came along and accused him of being some kinda witch. Not to far of the reservation if ya ask me.”
Jamie nodded as she stared at the photo. She was learning things even her father didn’t know. She actually had no idea how her parents met or how long they knew each other.
“Life is weird.” She muttered, shrugging her shoulders.
“Say that you won’t go looking for ya mama.” Jamie looked up with furrowed brows. Her sadness quickly turned into anger when she heard his words. “Lis’en to me, Jamie Winchester. If ya go looking for ya mama, Marshal will come looking for ya and that man is fa’ more powe’ful. I will help ya break the spell but if somethin goes wrong don’t blame me.”
“Histor. I can’t even begin to thank you for everything you’ve shared with me. I’ve spent half my life searching for her. For answers. If someone wants to come after me, they can try, if they try to stop me, I will kill them first.” She said, her gaze was hard and bore into Histor’s soul like a drill.
Histor’s gaze remained steadfast. Beady blue eyes were hidden behind a heavy brow and messy hair. he wore a heavy frown but he never looked away from Jamie.
“Very well. I warn’d ya. To break the spell you need to be in the same place it was created. Likely in that house in Texas. You will need Ague Root, the ash of a Holy Object like a cross that has been dipped in Holy Water, and the caster’s DNA.”
Jamie nodded as she listened. Writing everything down on of of her receipts.
“After you have all ya ingredients. On the night of a full moon, you must be in the exact location the spell was casted to reverse it. Grind and mix all your ingredients, and chat the following.” Histor instructed, motioning for her to pass the paper and pen. As he wrote he continued to explain the spell.
“When you cast this spell, there is no way of knowing it will work. There may be more consequence than gain when you do this, nothing may happen.” He explained.
“You just told me if I don’t break this spell I might drop dead, I can deal with the consequences later. I refuse to leave my brothers alone in this world but I will be careful. Thank you Histor.” Jamie said as he passed the paper back. She stuffed it into her pocket and got up. She stood by his side and crouched, looking up at the old man with tears in her eyes.
“It’s a possibility. Unless you’ve already started experiencing the side effects?’ Histor questioned. Jamie nodded, she didn’t want to admit it but deep down she knew he had been telling the truth and what’s been happening to her for the past year was because of her mother.
“I can never truly repay you for your help today. You have given me things that my family has tried to keep away from me for years. Here is my number, if you ever need help, call me, for anything” She said, giving him a quick peck and the cheek and standing up. Holding a smaller piece of paper to him.
Histor smiled at her and accepted the paper. “I think I have one more thing that might help ya.” Histor stood up again. Jamie was worried he’d lose his footing but he managed just fine. “When ya mama came and saw me that night, she left me with more than just that pendant. I don’t think she wanted me to give to ya, but I’ve never been good at following rules.” He chuckled, walking to the same chest he grabbed the picture from. he pulled out a small book-sized box.
“Here, I got no clue what that is. She said to protect it with my life though. It’s probably safer in your hands than mine.” Jamie accepted the box. She looked at it, there were some runes on it but nothing that looked too serious.
“To get out, just walk straight and pass through the front door this time. It’s illusion magic ya mama woulda seen it” he said with a scoff. Jamie shrugged and waved before making her way out.
“You did it, Jamie.” She muttered to herself as she passed right through the front door, coming out onto the street. Jamie looked back at the box that she stashed under her arm, using her free hand she wiped the tears that peaked from her eyes.
“Maybe I’m psycing myself out but if I touch this and get a vision I’m going to look very weird just falling on my ass.” She muttered to herself before placing the box in her backpack, making sure to put it at the bottom, under everything else she had bought. A shoplifting trick she learned in high school.
She her hand through her hair and sighed as her fingers got caught in the naps of her curls.
“Dammit. I thought I was doing pretty good keeping it untangled.” She muttered to herself before making her way down the road.

5. Hospital Talks (Wincehsters x Younger Sibling)
hi, wors count is just under 3000. the tiblr webpage is so slow for me so these authors notes might be bad. but enjoy to the roughly six people who read. let me know what u think pls (also i couldnt find a good gif)
“How are you feeling June Bug?” Sam asked as he and his brother entered the room.
“Yeah, how is your neck?” Dean asked, placing a bag of takeout on the side table and pulling up a chair next to his sister. Sam took a seat on the edge of the bed on the other side.
“I’m okay. Just sore. It burns when I get too warm but I guess that’s what burns do.” She said with a sorry face.
“Good, Sammy and I are going to do some investigating while you are under observation.”
“I thought it was just overnight?” She asked looking back and forth between her brothers and they gave each other a look.
“Well, we talked to the doctors, they don’t think it’s safe to let you leave just yet. They are worried that the damage to your lungs will affect the oxygen going to your brain for a while, so they want to keep you for a few more nights.” Sam explained looking at his sister with a sad look. “We know you aren’t happy, but we have to make sure you are okay.”
Jamie sighed and laid back. “You guys are going to look for the thing that killed Jess while I’m here.”
Dean looked at his brother and then back to his sister. “Yeah, Jess died the same way our Mom did…June Bug. We have to.” Dean explained.
“I understand. I need a favor if I’m going to be in here for a week. You will need someone to help with research. Two and a half brains are better than one and a half.” Jamie joked.
Sam scoffed and Dean chuckled.
“Anything Jamie,” Sam said with a smile.
“In my bag in the trunk, there is a toy safe. Can you bring me that?” Jamie asked. She knew her brothers would laugh about her keeping a toy at her age but they didn’t know what it contained.
“Right, I’ll get it. Be right back.” Dean said. patting his knees and getting up.
“Thanks,” Jamie called as her brother left her line of sight.
“Where are you guys going to start looking?” Jamie asked.
“We are gonna start at the apartment and check any camera footage from after we left,” Sam answered with sorrow in his voice.
“Are you going to be okay Sammy?”
“Yeah June Bug, I will be okay. Don’t worry about me.” He said, placing a hand on her blanketed foot. Dean returned a few moments later, shaking the box. It clanged as he did and sounded very full.
“What’s even in there Jamie?” Dean said, tossing it onto the bed. Jamie chuckled and entered the code she had set for it years ago.
“Well, I’ve saved up some of it over the years but most of it was from this last two years worth of savings. From working, odd jobs, bussing streets, and pickpocketing the nice neighborhoods.” She shrugged as the safe popped open. Wads and rolls of cash flooded out.
“Damn. No more need for credit card scams!” Dean sighed. he sat down, grabbed the box, and started counting. “How much is even in here?” Dean asked.
“Uh as of my last check, it will be almost 31,000 dollars,” Jamie said. Reaching over and grabbing the box back. She grabbed one of the many rolls and counted out a couple of bills. “I want a laptop!” Sam was shocked. He had no idea his sister had amassed so much money in just four years.
“How did you even have time to make all this?” Sam asked as he lifted some of the bills and let them fall.
“Well, it started when we were kids. When I was alone while you guys were gone, I’d sit at the corner of the motels with some cardboard that said “need money for food.” or something with a cup and people would drop change or a couple of bucks in. As a kid of course I spent it but eventually, I learned how to pickpocket pretty easily and I’d get people after school, sneak it into Dad’s coat. then I started taking cleaning jobs or temp spots if we stayed long enough, and then I discovered I could play piano so if there was a public piano I’d play and sing, then I got old enough to get a job when you left for college so I did and saved every check I got. I worked at the grocery store, for a year, and did odd jobs and favors too. Mostly scamming failing underclassmen for their allowance. I contemplated a car but I realized I could just fix one up of Bobby’s, he’d give it to me for cheap.”
Jamie explained as she organized the bills.
“I know you worked, but I didn’t know you were working for so long. Why didn’t you tell us?” Dean asked. Sam was still stunned but shared the same sentiments.
“Yeah, I mean we were together almost 24/7, when did you even learn about begging on the streets?” Sam asked. The more he learned about his sister the less he liked. He knew that Dean did his best.
“Well, Dad was drinking all the time, Dean started drinking, Sam started hunting with you guys. I figured it would get spent before I could even save it so I hid it in this safe. Bought it myself in Omaha when I was nine.”
Sam and Dean shared a look. They didn’t know a lot about their little sister. They didn’t know she could play instruments.
“You play instruments? How, you-you touched a piano one day and you could play?” Sam asked, waving his hands around.
“Well, I read the books, it was only to test it out in theory but I got the hang of it after a couple hours, at the music store in…” She thought for a moment as if trying to bring the memory back to the forefront of her mind. “uh, the uh the vampire in Tennessee.” She snapped.
“Wow. We had no idea…” Dean said, putting some of the bills back. He thought back to all the times he had seen her messing with that Safe. He had tried to crack it open through the years but he could never figure out the code and he knew how mad Jamie would have been as a kid if she knew they had tried to tamper with it.
“I can’t even count how many times I tried to see what you had hidden in there. What code did you set?” Dean said with a small chuckle.
“Take a wild guess.” Jamie chuckled. She knew her brothers would never get it. They overcomplicated things too much.
“Twenty-four, two, eight,” Sam said looking at the four-digit code entered on the lock.
“No fair, you cheated, Sammy.”
“Our birth dates?” Sam said. Looking up at his brother.
She closed the safe and knocked on it twice. Her good lucky tradition to be able to add more money to it. She could feel the tension building up between her siblings.
“I know how much it would have helped growing up, but the only reason I started saving was so I could buy us all a house one day. Don’t be mad.” She said.
Dean counted the money his sister had handed him. Remembering all the times they only had a couple cans of soup and crackers in the cabinets. He couldn’t blame her. She was smarter than he ever was at that age.
“Don’t feel bad, Jamie. You did what you thought was right. I’m proud of you for saving up so much money for so long. It’s not easy.” Sam interjected. Jamie nodded and sighed.
“Are you mad D?” She asked. She did her best to keep herself calm, she knew the heart monitor would betray her if she didn’t. Dean never liked secrets between them.
“No, I’m not. Just a little surprised. We’ll go get your laptop. Beers on you.” Dean said, rubbing his sister’s hair and smirking.
“Wait, so all those times you randomly pulled out a twenty and said you found it?” Sam asked. Jamie nodded with a small smile. Sam scoffed and his confused expression shifted into a mixture of proud and slightly disturbed, mostly at the fact she was so young.
“Okay, be back soon. Make sure you get some headphones and a couple of USB sticks.” She said as her brothers left. Sam nodded and Dean threw back a thumbs up. She sighed and stared at her safe.
She felt bad. They were dirt poor growing up and more often than not, she knew Dean would go hungry for them. When she did try to give them some money, it never seemed to last long. So her next course of action was the save it.
She was sitting on the curb, holding a cardboard sign. She had rubbed dirt onto her face and wore her dirty laundry. she put her hair up into a bun and brushed it to look messy. As a nine-year-old, these were extreme measures to take to make a little bit of cash but she knew she would need it. She would sit outside and say thank you anytime someone dropped something into her cup. When she heard the Impala coming easy enough to tell by her Dad’s music taste. She would run back in and hop in the shower after stashing her earnings.
The boys never suspected anything and her Dad was too drunk to care, they made it pretty easy to keep secrets. To stay under the radar.
Jamie thought about her childhood as she waited for her brothers to return. One of the nurses brought her food, they checked her vitals. She questioned them on whether she had to stay or not and they could only give her the facts.
She took a lot of damage. If she left now there was a chance her lungs could be permanently damaged. She took defeat and waited. It felt like forever. She couldn’t believe she was going to be stuck here for another three days. Jamie laid back and relaxed. Sitting up was starting to be more work than anything else. She ate her lunch of chicken soup and apple slices with an off-brand soda. It was okay, nothing to write home about.
Sam and Dean returned with a laptop and some snacks.
“How much was it?” Jamie asked as she opened the box. She handed Sam the cord and he plugged it in for her.
“899.” He answered as he huffed getting back up. Dean still looked a little sour but he did his best to hide it.
“We also got you some chips, sodas, and that little USB thing you wanted,” he said, placing the bag on the bed. “Well, we need to get checked into another motel, we are burning daylight,” Dean said looking at his brother.
“Oh, okay. I’ll see you guys later.” She said, not taking her eyes off the laptop. Sam and Dean looked at each other. They almost wanted to ask if they could stay, to make sure nothing happened but she was 18 soon, so it wouldn’t be a big deal.
“Do you want us to take anything for you?’ Dean asked.
“uh, no, my stuff should be okay here,” Jamie responded, already typing away on the new laptop.
“Okay, we‘ll see you later Jamie,” Sam said, giving her a quick kiss on the head and walking out, his brother following.
“Dude, just spit it out,” Sam said with an exasperated expression. He knew the fact Jamie kept all that money a secret was bothering him. Sam knew she worked and pickpocketed people, but he didn’t know the extent of her wealth. “You’re upset Jamie didn’t tell us about her stash?” Sam asked.
“What? No? Why would I be upset that she started doing well for herself as a kid? I mean, I’m more upset that she felt like she couldn’t tell me because I was drinking.” He said in a defeated tone. He always thought she knew that he could tell him anything.
“I mean, it makes sense, growing up with Dad’s bad habits. Maybe once you started to act more like Dad, her little kid mind started distancing herself.” Sam shrugged. He wasn’t bothered by it. He knew how hard it was to get an inch as a kid, that fact she got a foot was a miracle.
“I mean yeah, but you know how much better off we could have been if she told us what she was doing?” Dean said as they left the hospital.
“Well, yeah but it’s not like she had all that back then. She worked hard for it, don’t you think it would be kinda wrong to take a kid’s hard-earned money? Plus, you heard her. Any big bills she got she tried to give to Dad. What he did with it I have no idea but- she did her best Dean. She felt like she had to do something and she did and how could you even ask that of a nine-year-old?”
The brothers got into the impala, taking a second to think about what they were going to say.
“We can’t blame her for it.” Sam finished as he watched his brother. “We both had our moments as kids. I just wish I knew she could play piano.” Sam defended.
“Do you think she wanted out of this life like you?” Dean asked.
“I wish she did, Dean. I do, more than anything.” Sam said somberly. “When we would talk on the phone, she would talk about all the lore she was reading and how much knew already knew. How she wanted us to go on a hunt together someday. Dean, hunting IS her life. Probably more than me, you, hell maybe even Dad. She has always been smart, even as a kid, she is emotionally intelligent, she can stand up for herself and handle her hunts. I mean look at her, she has always been a trooper.”
Dean turned the Impala. Taking another look back at the hospital
“When she gets out she’s buying the beer.” He muttered and drove off. “Where is the nearest laptop store?”
“Uh, we’d have to go to the mall.” Sam answered. “There is a store there. Head straight for two miles, take a left.”
“Alright.” Dean said, putting the car in drive and heading off. he still couldn’t beilve there was such a big dent in his car and he would have to wait till they got back to Bobby’s to fix it. There were so many things happening now that he and his siblings we’re back together.
He thought about what Sam said, about Jamie. He thought about what jamie said about well..Jamie and them. He wouldn’t even be able to describe what he was feeling. He did his best to bring them both up, maybe he did better with Sam than he did Jamie, maybe Jamie was the ‘better’ sibling. There was no way to tell.
Dean knew why Jamie was smarter though. He thought Sam would acknowledge it as well, as much as he didn’t want to admit it. Jamie had inherited some part of Frida’s metnal abilities. Whatever it was, their brains were just bigger, faster. All throughout Jamie’s childhood she picked things up easily, she never needed help when she started school. She handled herself like a mini adult almost from the get go.
Dean knew that was a terrible way to think of his little sister’s upbrining. He did his best to give her a normal childhood, but he wasn’t enough of a fool to ignore the obvious.
Frida was an incredibly powerful person. She could use her mind, to read intentions, and do cool party tricks, but after that night in the house, Dean didn’t beilive it was party tricks anymore.
That night, in Texas, a long drive from Arizona. They had been staying in a motel in Yuma when their Dad had gotten a call. He rushed the boys out and into the car without explanation. When they got there it was eerily silent for an emergency. Dad had ordered Sam to stay with the baby while the two of them searched the house. They didn’t have to do much searching after they entered the upstairs. It was a blood bath, six men, were brutally killed. He couldn’t let that happen to Jamie.

Part Four: Winchester x Younger Sibling (OC)
uhhh here is another one hope you enjoy some fluff moment. and no i cannot think of a title for this chapter lol
Jamie’s x-rays came back. She had a cracked rib severely damaged lungs from the smoke she inhaled, and some serious bruising on her whole backside. There wasn’t a part of her back that wasn’t colored purple or black. The investigators were shocked at how she had incurred so much damage when her brothers and the neighbors made it out just fine, and how so much force could have been generated to cause that much damage. “A freak accident.” They called it.
“We want to keep her in overnight so we can monitor her. The amount of smoke she inhaled was way too concerning. The doctor is worried that she may not get enough oxygen in her brain.” The nurse said as she looked over Jamie’s chart. Her brothers listened intensely as their sister’s condition was broken down.
“She hit the car with force almost equivalent to a 15-foot fall. How you survived, can only be the work of God.” Her brother’s eyes went wide as they looked at their baby sister. “But I do need to ask her some private questions.”
She was just lying there. Her oxygen mask and a scowl as she stared out the window. She was still a mouse. Probably in too much pain to move. Sam left his brother’s side and sat in Jamie’s line of view.
“Hey, Dean and I are going to step outside while the nurse asks you some questions. Do you need anything?” Sam asked, placing a hand on his sister’s bruised one. Jamie slowly turned to make eye contact with her brother. She was exhausted and she couldn’t even make a joke if she wanted to.
It was taking everything she had to keep herself from balling. Her back stung, her throat burned, and her eyes twitched with dryness. She couldn’t even feel the bed she was on.
“Cream soda.”
Dean couldn’t help but scoff at his sister. Sam chuckled and nodded.
“No problem kiddo.” He answered, shaking his head and standing up. The brothers looked at their sister one last time before walking out at shutting the door behind them.
“I’m gonna find whatever did this to her and kill it.” Dean scowled. Sam could tell he was beating himself up.
“We don’t even know what happened. It was like a freak accident.” Sam responded, racking his brain, trying to focus on anything other than the memory of Jess and Jamie’s screams. They walked down the hallway, in search of the vending machine.
“Well, It’s a good thing that’s our specialty. When she called me, Sam. I saw it. The smoke from the house attacked- it outright attacked her. We heard the thud. There is no way something other than the supernatural did this. You saw how the fire started.” Dean said as he looked down the halls they passed.
“Yeah, but I’ve never heard of smoke attacking someone. Jess died just like mom…” he paused. “But Jamie, she should have made it out, I could have sworn she was right behind us.” He muttered.
“I know, but you know her, she never follows orders,” Dean muttered as he approached the vending machine and searched for his sister’s drink.
“Dean, if she hadn’t done what she did more people might have died.”
Dean watched as the soda fell to the bottom. The sound of the metal clanging reminded him too much of the crunch he heard when Jamie hit the Impala. He gritted his teeth and looked at his brother. He felt useless.
The boys returned and the nurse was long gone, having left Jamie with some water and some applesauce. She was still sitting up but had more pillows and there were fresh bandages wrapped around her neck, they hadn't been there before.
“What’s with the neck?” Sam asked, popping it open and handing it to her. With a shaky hand, she grabbed it and took a large gulp and another. Her brothers watched in fascination as she chugged the carbonated drink like a college kid, she just wasn’t able to crush the can in victory.
“Tha-buuuuuuuuuuuurrrP- nk you.”
Sam and Dean couldn't help but smile at their gross little sister. Dean moved around Sam and sat down next to his sister. He pointed at her neck with his eyes.
“yeah, that wasn’t there when we left.” He had that gentle smile on his face, the one he used when he wanted answers.
“Uhm, I’m not sure. The nurse and I were talking and then my neck started hurting. She took a look, called in the doctor and they wrapped it up.” Jamie said. This was not a satisfactory answer for her brother.
“There is nothing in your chart about it either,” Sam said as he read over the clipboard that hung on the edge of her bed.
“Sammy, go find the doctor,” Dean said not taking his eyes off his sister.
“Let me take a look sweetie,” Dean said, reaching forward as his brother left to find the doctor.
“Dean, we need to talk-”
“After you get better, James,” Dean said gently, he knew his sister was too tired to argue with him like she usually did, even if she wasn't showing it. Dean reached for her neck, gently unwrapping the thick bandages. He cringed as Jamie winced. Whatever was under there was already drying up.
"Weird," he muttered to himself. Dean had seen a lot of weird injuries, scrapes, cuts, and burns, if they weren't fatal they usually took longer than a few minutes to get as dry as this one seemed to be.
Jamie didn’t argue and looked up. Letting her brother look at whatever was on her neck. Dean hardly ever called her ‘James.’ It was something their father and Bobby joked about when they were younger. There wasn't a specific reason why they called her anything. Just comes with being the baby sister.
Dean only used it when he wasn’t going to put up with an argument of any kind. To Jamie, it was weird, she didn't like being called James.
“Do you know what this is?” Dean asked as he stared at the open wounds on his sister’s neck.
“They said it was some kind of reaction to the smoke, they said it should disappear after it closes up,” Jamie said. “But Dean, we need to talk about what happened on the stairs before Sammy comes back.”
Dean rewrapped the bandages and put his hands in his lap. His face was serious, no smirks, no jokes to crack.
“Yes, we do. Tell me what you saw.”
“I saw Jess,” Jamie confessed. Her voice was still raw but she could speak enough to tell her brother.
Dean’s eyebrows raised as he leaned in to listen.
“You saw Jess? That’s impossible. She was on the ceiling, Jamie. Burning alive.” Dean said, eyes wide and brows furrowed.
“After I banged on the doors, the fire started spreading or something because the house just filled up with smoke, I couldn’t breathe, I could barely see. I was on the stairs and I heard someone call my name.”
“Who was it?” Dean asked, leaning forward with a serious glint in his eyes. Jamie could tell Dean was moments away from boiling over. The pot of emotions that brewed inside him was reaching peak heat.
Dean listened as his sister spoke, making sure to watch the heart monitor behind her as she spoke. He watched as the numbers began to rise while she explained what had happened.
“Jess. Or her body, it was talking to me. She called my name, and there was the smoke behind her. Dean. When we first met her I had a bad feeling, but she did something, she sent that smoke after me. She made it throw me into the car. It was like she was trying to ki-”
“Jamie, it’s okay. You are safe. I’m right here.” Dean said as her heart monitors started to slow back down again. He sat up and sat on the edge of the bed.
“Dean, she was trying to kill me. I could feel it. She was true evil.” Jamie finished, tearing up. “And I- I can’t tell Sammy. I can stain his memory like that.”
“It’s okay, June Bug. You’re big brother’s got you. Sammy will be okay, we all will. We will find Dad and we will be together again,” he soothed, gently rubbing her palm, avoiding the bruises on her knuckles.
“And I’m sorry about the car.” She sniffled out. Dean cooed and dried her tears.
“Don’t worry about the car. I’ll fix it. I will fix all of it.”
Jamie had fallen asleep in her brother’s arms, watching the news on the hospital TV. Sam came back just as she had fallen asleep. She was leaning on Dean he relaxed next to her. Legs crossed and arms around his sister.
“Good news, the doctor said it sprouted up when we were gone. Said it shouldn’t be too serious, just inflammation of the skin. How is she feeling?” Sam asked, handing his brother a cup of coffee and taking a seat.
“She will be okay,” Dean said, taking a drink from the cup.
“Should we call Bobby?” Sam asked, taking a drink of the coffee and leaning back.
“No, we need to make sure Jamie is okay and keep moving. Once she is cleared we are out of here. Hospitals give me the creeps.” He felt a shiver crawl up his spine but he refused to move.
Sam stared at his siblings. Jamie, is asleep, half leaning on Dean’s side and peacefully breathing. Sam hated seeing that tube around her face. Hearing the beats of her heart monitor. He couldn’t help but think to that moment, how he could saved Jess and he could saved Jamie.
Dean looked serious. He hadn’t seen that look in Dean’s eyes since they were kids. He grimaced and looked out the window to his side.
“One more job.”

III: Fire and Smoke Winchester x younger sibling (oc) Part 3
hi, so i have more of a plan for this now so please enjoy chapter 3. I've got 4, 5, 6 done and will be posting soon.
Tumblr media
Sam and Dean left to investigate the bridge where all the murders happened, but Jamie decided to stay back anyway. She knew Dean wouldn’t let her go when she gave him so much attitude, she didn’t know why she was so upset. She knew she wasn’t fully over everything that had happened but that was no reason to snap at her brother.
“I should apologize.” She muttered to herself while she looked over several archives from the library.
Jamie couldn’t help but check her phone every few minutes either. The longer her brothers were gone the worse it was. They would either call or show up, she thought to herself but no amount of self-soothing was calming her down.
She rubbed her brows, checked the windows, and even circled the block. It had been almost an hour since they left.
Every car engine and every door slam made her jump.
“Why am I so anxious all of a sudden?” She asked herself. Was it because of Sam or just being around her brothers, was it the hunt? Was it because she tried to induce a vision? Jamie had no intention of sitting around and stewing in her stress. If it took them this long to take care of one ghost who knows what else went wrong?
Her phone rang, singing “Juke Box Hero”; Sam’s ringtone. Jamie answered it only to be met by muffled sounds.
“Sam? Sammy? Did you butt-dial me?” She asked. Who knew her brother was so clumsy? She was about to hang up when she heard her brother’s screams and shouts of panic.
“What the fuck am I doing?” She asked herself, looking at her phone as the commotion continued. She should be out there, hunting with her brothers, finding clues, and not staring at the same four walls of the cheapest motel for a hundred miles. She knew her brothers would be upset but knew now was the time to start taking risks. She could always sway Dean over with pie in a couple of days, Sam is back in Palo Alto on Monday, so he wouldn’t care. She already knew where the body was and what to do, this was a beer run for her.
Grabbing her duffle bag off the chair and feeling it for her supplies, she checked off her metal list.
Salt, iron crowbar, spare rounds, shotgun, car pick, lighter fluid, matches.
The Car Pick was a tool she made when Bobby was out on a hunt. Wanting to take one of the working cars out for a drive when she got her license. But Bobby kept all his keys in one ring so she had to go the old-fashioned way.
making her way across the street and into the nearby parking lot she approached the nearest car. A small ford. With ease she slid the tool between the window and the seal, popping the lock up on the driver’s side.
She hopped in and put her stuff in the passenger, going underneath to feel for the plastic that held the wires, she already felt wires.
“Well, I’ll be a son of a bitch.” She muttered. The car was already hot-wired. She touched the cables together and smiled as the engine roared.
She had no time to waste. She knew where already. They filled her in after questioning some townsfolk before they headed out. She had to make it to the bones before something happened to the boys.
“Jamie is on her way!” She said, pressing the gas and whipping the old hunk of bolts. She felt like Dean whenever she drove. She felt like she could take on the world like her brother did.
As she drove, her hands gripped the shells. Her headache was long forgotten as her mind was overtaken with childhood memories of their car traditions and everything they had been through. She’d be famed if she lost them to a ghost.
Turning a twenty-minute drive into ten was not easy and it only drove her adrenaline more. She could only thank God that the tank was full and pray she made it to her brothers in time. Luckily, there was a drivable path to the family cemetery where the mother was buried with her children.
Jamie put the car in park and jumped out. The grave was a large memorial.
“Lady Luck, you must have a crush on me.” She smiled as she dragged out her crowbar and pried the sealed door open. It was corroded and wilting away. One stab made the brick fall like dominos. As the brick fell and dust rose Jamie could do nothing but cover her nose. The smell of rot and death filled her senses, the smell made her eyes burn.
“That’s ripe.” She muttered, stepping over the debris and into the tombstone. It wasn’t something she had never seen before. Inside were three coffins, one large and two small.
“Her kids are stuck here too?” Jamie asked herself as she looked over the inside. “Oh well, you gotta go too. Sorry kiddos.” She muttered as she broke the coffin lids off each one. She doused them in lighter fluid and salt. She emptied the can of fluid into the grave.
Just as she struck the match she heard a loud crash, likely at the house.
“Sam! Dean!” She questions, her voice laced with worry and urgency. Quickly she lit three matches and threw them into the coffins, jogging out and back to the car she hijacked. As the bodies burned and the fire grew, Jamie turned the engine over again and reversed off the trail.
Just as she pulled up she saw her brothers standing outside the trashed house. The impala lodged right into what was probably a living room.
“Is that Jamie?” Sam asked looking towards the dim car lights. The car parked and out jumped their little sister. A confused look on her face.
“Is that Dad’s car driven through a house?” She asked as she approached her brothers.
“Yes,” Sam said laughing. Dean looked heartbroken.
“What are you doing here, we said stay at the motel,” Dean said.
“Well, considering what happened I saved your butts. Sam butt dialed me and I heard screams so I got a car and high-tailed it.” She said, her hands in her pockets.
“The kids,” Sam said, looking at his brother. “She did save our asses.”
“Yeah Dean, listen to Sammy. Yall woulda been ghost mince if it wasn’t for me getting here in time and burning the bones.”
“Whatever. Not bad kid.” Dean smiled.
They got back to the motel and cleaned up. Jamie carefully took her father’s notes down and stacked them. She would figure something to do with them but she didn’t want to let go of them or have some random civilian walk in on it.
“Wait so you told the officer your boobs were real?” Jamie asked from the backseat. “And you made a fake 911 call so Dean could escape?”
Sam Scoffed and Dean couldn’t stop smiling, nodding in the front seat as his sister giggled in the back.
“You guys are crazy.” She muttered.
“If we are crazy that makes you at least half crazy.” Sam joked.
“Unfortunately, I am a Winchester through and through. I would just book it.” Jamie scoffed as she flipped through more pages.
“How long are you going to go through those chicken scratches?” Dean asked, looking at his sister from the backseat.
“I don’t know. I’m trying to figure out where he went next.”
it wasn’t long until they got back to Sam’s place. The bad feeling Jamie got loomed over her as she sat in the backseat waiting for her brothers to be done.
“Jamie…Jamiiieee?” Sam sang her name trying to get her attention. Snapping back to reality she looked at her older brother.
“Sorry, Sammy. I’ll uhm see you next time.” She smiled. Setting down her father’s papers and giving her brother a half hug through the Impala window. Sam nodded and stepped away from the car. Watching as his brother and sister drove off.
“D?”
“Yes?”
“Would you believe me if I said I had a bad feeling about that place since the first time we came here?” Jamie asked, turning around to catch the faint outline of her brother walking into the house. “Jess gave me a bad feeling.”
“Me too, hold on.” The car jerked as Dean flipped a highspeed u-turn and raced back down the street. the car was parked and the siblings were out of the car in seconds. Jogging up to the building, they could feel the pure heat that was beginning to emanate from the house. Dean kicked down the door and rushed in.
“JAMIE STAY BACK!” Dean shouted as he heard the screams, as Dean rushed in Jamie followed. Staying just a few feet back as Dean rushed up the stairs. She could see it, some of it at least. The very edges of the fire started making their way outside the door.
“Shit.” She muttered. Running back down the stairs she ran to the neighbors, using both fists she banged on the door, screaming. “FIRE! GET UP THERE IS A FIRE!” As she moved through the small complex banging on doors she could still only hear her brother’s footsteps and worried shouts.
The door opened as she banged. A very exhausted-looking girl opened it with a crazed expression. Jamie could feel the sleep-deprived anger that the girl was ready to spout.
“There is a big fire upstairs! You need to leave! Grab everything and run!” She said before the girl could even speak. Jamie had moved to the next door as the girl ran back into her apartment.
She banged on the next door. “FIRE. YOU HAVE TO GET UP!” She screamed the fire was spreading unnaturally fast. Jamie could hear boards crumbling as the roof seemed to collapse.
Now that Sam and Dean were out of danger she made her way to the stairs, and she remained calm, keeping her breathing as steady as she could as she raced down the stairs, she would have to hope no one else was in the building or they made it out somehow, it would be a miracle.
“Ooooh, Jamie.” A Dark voice sang behind her. She stopped halfway down the step before turning around, it all happened in a flash. She saw Jess, at the top of the staircase, she could see the singe that covered her face.
“Who are you?” Jamie asked, watching as the smoke began to blow out of her brother’s apartment. Dark, black smoke, almost unnatural in movement as if Jess’s burned body was the only thing stopping it from spreading to the house. Jess grinned and raised her arm, almost as if commanding the smoke to follow her command.
Jamie was pushed back by the smoke, sending her tumbling down the rest of the stairs and flying out of the building.
“Dean!” She shouted as she was pushed by the smoke. It felt like it was trying to tear her apart. She hit the Impala with a loud thud. The smoke continued to push her into the car. Then it all went dark.
She was back in Sam’s apartment, there was no fire. Just the thick smell of smoke and scorched flesh. It was rancid
Standing on the staircase, staring up at nothing. Then the smoke came. On instinct, Jamie started running down the stairs. They were never-ending as she was just barely able to stay out of reach of the black smoke that chased her. She tried to call for her brothers, but her throat burned so badly she could taste the odor in her mouth. It was overwhelming.
She saw the front door. It was lit up with some kind of bright, blinding light. She tried to reach it but just as she reached the last step, she felt herself fall forward, it was the black smoke. It was eating her alive, consuming her but she couldn’t scream, she couldn’t breathe.
With a loud, almost crunchy gasp she shot up, immediately coughing as bile began to creep up her throat. She leaned forward, unable to hold herself up. She saw the ground approaching quickly but it never came. Still in a daze, she looked up to see her brother’s face full of fear and concern. It was Sammy.
“Breathe Jamie, Breath!” She heard. Holding her throat and looking around she saw the worried faces of her brothers, crouched next to her in an ambulance. They weren’t moving. There was some kind of mask covering her nose.
“We are right here June Bug, just breathe for me okay? In and out, just like that. Good girl.” Sam eased as he kept the face mask held tightly to his sister’s face. She was covered in soot, head to toe. The only color he saw on her was any hair that shook off the soot and her eyes. Large and doey, slightly bloodshot due to the smoke but she was still alive. That is all he cared about right now.
Jamie put her hand on Sam’s asking him to move to mask for a moment. “Where is D?” She asked, in a tired voice.
“I’m right here. I’m gonna get the paramedic. Do you need water?” Dean asked, standing next to his siblings. He was worried as hell but he wasn’t going to show it. Jamie nodded slowly, glancing at her brothers to check for any injuries. She looked at Sam, he had some soot on his face but nothing serious.
“Jamie, why did you go back in?” Sam asked as he stared at his sister. Jamie could feel the stress and fear radiating off of him like a heat lamp, the grief was creeping its way in.
“To-” She coughed, trying to clear her throat. “To warn your neighbors.” She said her voice hoarse and throat dry. She felt like she just took the worst hit of a bong. Her chest hurt and her head was still hazy. “I-” She stopped herself. She couldn’t tell Sam that his college girlfriend was some kind of freak and attacked her with smoke.
A water bottle appeared in her line of vision as she stared at Sam with tired eyes. She grabbed the bottle, opened it, and started chugging.
“Who, slow down there. This may be a college town but I don’t see any kegs.” Dean joked. Sam looked up at him with a furrowed brow and pursed lips.
“Does this mean you’re coming with us to find Dad?” Jamie asked as she breathed. It was like a rock had been stuck in her throat.
“I don’t have another choice…” Sam trailed off as he stared at his burned home. It was mostly his apartment that ended up burning down, the floors collapsing into the lower unit. “First you need oxygen.”
“Sam, I-” She tried again.
“Later sis, we got you right now. The paramedic is going to look you over. Let’s get you cleaned up.” He said. He motioned for her to hold the mask onto her face as he stood up and rummaged through the cabin of the ambulance. He found some saline syringes and paper towels.
Tidiously wetting them and wiping his sister’s brow, Jamie pretended to not notice the tremble in her brother’s hands. She held the mask to her face and stopped Sam from wiping her face.
Sam made eye contact and smiled lightly, trying to hold back tears. Jamie put the mask down and pulled her brother in for a hug.
“It will be okay Sam. I am here. I got you.” She whispered to him. He hugged her back, being careful not to hurt her. He took a deep breath and pulled away.
“I know June Bug.” He smiled and handed her back the mask, continuing the task of cleaning up his heroic sister.
“Hi, my name is Matthew. is it okay if I check you over and ask some questions?” He was skinny but muscular. If Jamie wasn’t dying to breathe, she would have tried to hit on him, instead, she nodded and began to remove her jacket. Wincing in pain her arms contorted.
Sam continued to clean up her face as she spoke with the paramedic.
“So the firefighters think you got hit by a mini explosion, caused by the gas leak. Did you see anything?”
“No, I was on the stairs, and next thing I knew I was here.” She lied. He asked a few more questions about how she felt and thanked her. Matthew went to Dean to tell him what happened.
“So, she inhaled a lot of smoke. Was she stuck in the house for a long period?”
“No, she was on the stairs. I’m pretty sure she was running through trying to wake up the neighbors.” Dean said, not taking his eyes off his siblings as they sat in the back of the ambulance.
“That’s a tricky one for sure, but she has a couple of bruised ribs and potentially a broken one. She hit the car pretty hard, she may have a concussion or internal bleeding.” That scared Dean.
“What do you mean internal bleeding?” He asked, looked at the paramedic.
“Well, if she has a cracked rib, it’s likely that when she collided with the car it could have or might have punctured one of her vital organs. It is hard to detect. We are going to take her to the hospital and get her checked out though. I wanted to let you know. You can follow us in your car.” he said, giving a small wave and walking back over to the younger siblings. They spoke for a moment and Sam hopped down, walking towards his brother.
“They are gonna make sure she is okay. We should follow them so we can be there when she gets out of her x-ray.” Sam said.
“Yeah, okay.” Dean agreed. They walked to the impala. Sam hissing when he saw the damage his sister had done to the side.
“You’re gonna have fun with that.” He said to Dean as they got in.
“I don’t even care, man. That was so scary. That smoke, i-it was like it was attacking her. Trying to push her into the car. Trying to kill her.” He gripped the wheel as he stared at the debris from the fire.
“Hey, she is okay. We will be okay.”
Dean turned the engine over and put it in gear. He checked his brother over one more time before following the ambulance that took his sister.
As he drove, Dean thought back to the moment. He was so concerned with Sam, that he thought he told her to stay behind.
“She went for the neighbors.” He muttered to himself and he mindlessly drove behind the ambulance.
“She did,” Sam replied absently, biting on his thumb. Dean looked over at his brother for a moment, he just lost his girl, and almost lost his sister. She called out his name when she was facing that… whatever it was and he couldn’t do anything. He and Sam were on the other side of the Impala, he could have sworn she was out of the building. He would have run back in if he knew he had left her to fend for herself.
Something wasn’t right and he knew it.

as i watch Supernatural, writing chapters that are set in season one when I am two episodes away from season 12 is hard.
Sam and Dean are so complete as characters. Their roles are already clearly defined in my mind. It is Sam and Dean, against the world.
Adding a third character is challenging. especially when its for the sake of self satesfaction

II. The Road to California (Winchesters x Younger Sibling)
AN; so don't get me wrong. I love every single sibling au there is when it comes to my boys but i just cant stand how i always feel like its too sappy for what supernatrual in, so im writing this lol. like i said im gonna try to stick to the plot (timeline wise) but everything else is me so enjoy chapter two. (yes i do skip over some things beause a second sibling changes the timeline)
Summary: Dean and Jamie make their way to Sam in California.
word Count: 4.3k estimate
Tumblr media
After filling Jamie in on the case concerning their father, the siblings fell into silence. Dean was driving while Jamie went through the cassettes for another album to listen to.
“I’m sorry we missed your graduation. I know it was a big moment for you.” Dean started. His sister was different, he could sense it. She was stronger, more mature but he couldn’t help but see that tiny kid Dad found in a big empty house.
“It was no different than any of the other big moments but let’s not get into it, Dean. Besides, you guys were on an important hunt and I forgot to get your tickets anyway. We can play catch-up when we get Sam.” She didn’t want to get all sentimental till they could get it all out with Sam after he agreed to come with them.
Dean sighed. “Jamie, I know you don't like being emotional 'cause you wanna be like your big brothers but we messed up. We weren't there for you when we should have been.”
“I know, don't worry it was lame anyway.” Jamie gulped. “I know you are upset about me hunting. Bobby didn’t even know till a couple of hunts ago!” She tried to explain but Dean put his hand up.
“You know how Dad feels about you hunting Jamie. That’s the whole reason he trusted you to Bobby, so you could have a normal life!”
“You know I was never going to have one, especially with my Mom still awol,” Jamie said, getting quieter when she mentioned her Mom.
Dean knew it was a touchy subject. How Dad always forbade her from seeing her Mom even though she was still alive. Jamie didn’t know the whole story of course but Dean couldn’t bring himself to tell her the truth.
“Is that what this is about? Dad and I told you what happened. You shouldn’t go chasing after her!” Dean said.
“Why should that matter? I have a right to know who my mom is if I have the chance!”
“You’ve never even met her Jamie! We are your family. We have been there for you!”
“Oh Really? You left me with Bobby for a year Dean. You never call, never text, Dad never calls, never texts. I didn’t even know if you were alive until you rolled up!”
Dean didn't want to argue. She was right and he knew it. they had been less than a family in the past year. especially since Sam left.
“Okay. You’re right, but now we have to put that aside and get to Sam so we can find Dad.” Dean subsided. There was never a point in arguing with Jamie, for one they could never stay mad at her, their little girl, and two, thanks to her special little party trick they could never hide their true feelings from her.
“Yes, and I’m going to help you find Dad. there is no point in arguing because I’m going to do it anyway. I got past Bobby, you two are easy.” She added, taking the finishing sip from her cream soda.
“Whatever. So what have you hunted? Any souvenirs?” Dean asked jokingly.
“First was a shapeshifter that wormed its way into town. I beat Bobby to that one when I saw its skin outside my school earlier in the year. Then there was the vampire a couple of towns over and most recently a ghost haunting my ex-boyfriend, talk about karma.”
“Boyfriend?”
“yeah, it didn’t end up well. He wasn’t as cool as I thought he was but oh the face he made when I ganked that sucker. Ah for the pages!” Jamie laughed.
“Right. Well, no more boyfriends if you plan on being a hunter, and just because you graduated doesn’t make you grown up. So it’s the same. You follow orders and stay out of the way.” Dean said, glancing between her and the road.
He remembered the night Dad took them to her. Like the drifters they grew up to be, they were staying at their Dad’s friend’s house in Texas, hunting a vampire nest. He knew that his Dad and Frida were close. They would stop by anytime they were in town and one day, Dad had taken them there. He told them it was something important, an emergency.
Sam and Dean questioned them the whole time about what it was till he finally spit it out.
“You have a baby sister now and I’m taking you to meet her.”
“Dad, what do you mean? With Frida the medium?” Dean asked.
“Look, I know you’re probably upset but we didn’t mean for this to happen. I didn’t even know until a couple of weeks ago. Frida is in some trouble and needs our help.”
That was all he said about it. When they got there, the house was empty except for a car seat and a note. John and Dean searched the house while six-year-old Sam stood guard over the Baby. Curiosity got the better of him and he read the letter as he looked at the sleeping baby.
“Dear John, I am so sorry I did not tell you sooner. This child will likely have some of my abilities and for that reason and more than I can explain, I must leave her with you. All of her paperwork is under my bed. I named her Jamie Winchester. You are the father so don’t even think of running from this. She needs you and you need her.
-Frida.
“What’s it say, Sammy?” Dean asked as he came back to the main room.
“Her name is Jamie, and she is our new sister,” Sammy said, carefully holding the newborn in her arms. “Do you want to hold her? She is sleeping.”
“Sure,” Dean said, sitting down and taking the baby from Sam. “Jamie huh? She is a Winchester. Look at that nose!” He said. Using his index to lightly tickle the baby’s nose.
“Boys. this is no time to be cute.”
And the rest was history. it took a lot to adjust to having a new baby on the road but Dean had done it before with Sam. It wouldn’t be much harder.
The rest of the drive was silent other than the occasional argument of Metalica or AC/DC they enjoyed each other’s presence.
“So…was there any word on your Mom?” Dean asked just as they entered Palo Alto.
“No, still nothing. But I know she is out there. Ever since the thing kicked in I’ve felt a presence and I know it disturbs you but I can’t help it.” Jamie said, immediately going to defend her statement.
“It’s not that kiddo. Regardless of what you have going through you’re head. We all love you no matter what. You are family, ever since that night in Texas, and nothing will ever change that June Bug.”
Jamie smiled and nodded. “yeah, can we stop for food? we’ve been driving forever.” Dean chuckled and agreed. They pulled into a burger joint and sat down. It was late, almost midnight on this side of the country.
“Do you think Sam will come D?” Jamie asked, setting her drink down.
“Of course he will, it’s the family business.”
Jamie stared at her brother for a moment. “Why did you never answer my calls?”
Dean looked up at his baby sister. He knew this would be the topic of conversation until Jamie was satisfied with his answers.
“Sweetie, listen, hunting is not for sport. we don’t do this because we think it is fun. I should have called and checked on you, I know and I’m sorry I didn’t. I’m sorry I didn’t return your calls. I’m trying here.” He explained.
“Fine, I will accept your lackluster and mediocre apology. But I hope you know I know you are hiding something and I’m gonna find out what it is.”
For a moment, Dean almost got panicked over the idea of his baby sister finding out what he was hiding but that was for another time.
“Common, we gotta go get Sammy, the case is still an hour away,” Dean said, dropping some change on the table and waiting. Jamie nodded and took her final bites before dusting herself off and following her brother.
“You know, when you said try to convince him, you skipped the part where we break into our brother’s dorm,” Jamie said as she followed Dean up the fire escape.
“What can I say? We’re Winchesters.”
He broke the window and crawled in. Jamie followed after. Looking around at her brother’s life for the last two years. She pulled her gun out when she heard a crash. Turning around her brothers were wrestling, Sam holding a bat.
“Dean?!” Sam’s voice was tired. “Jamie?! What the hell are you guys doing here at two in the freakin morning?”
“Well, Dean is looking for beer but we came here for you.”
“You guys can’t just break into my house! I could have killed you?”
“You wouldn’t,” Jamie answered.
“Sam?” Another voice rang from the hallway.
“Jess. Uhm, these are my siblings. Dean and Jamie, can you give us a minute?”
“Yeah, I’ll go put something on.”
Jamie looked away. She was pretty, but she couldn’t help but sense that something was off, she wandered around the house while her brothers talked. It was always easy to slip away when she stepped away from them. Their bond was nothing she could ever imagine for herself. Yes, Sam left hunting behind for a better life, he left his family behind because of the turmoil but you can never not be a hunter. That was always her takeaway from the night Sam left for Stanford.
Jamie listened back in when Sam’s voice got serious.
“Whatever you need to say to me you can say to her too,” he said, putting his arm around his girl.
“Um, Dad’s on a hunting trip,” Dean said, raising his brows like Sam was supposed to understand him. “And he hasn’t been back for a while.”
"yeah, you know how the season is," Jamie said, raising her brow and winking.
“Jamie go wait in the car,” Dean said, tossing the keys for Jamie to catch right on time. She turned to Jess and smiled. “It was nice meeting you, finally. We’ll bring him back in one piece.” Jess nodded and Jamie left. Walking past her still arguing brothers.
She started the car up and waited by the trunk. Stealing one of Dean’s beers while she was at it. He wouldn’t mind. She knew he couldn’t wait for her first beer with him. Truth is her life has been on a fast track ever since Sam left and after she was left at Bobby’s she knew she would have to hit the road for her Mom sooner or later. She chose sooner knowing it wouldn’t be an easy battle finding out who she was outside of being a Winchester.
“Jamie, pop the trunk,” Dean said. She dropped the beer to her side, hiding it behind her thigh as her brothers walked towards her. Sam had a tired look on his face.
“What was he hunting?” Sam asked.
“And why didn’t you go with him, Dean?” Jamie piped in from the side.
“I had my own thing voodoo thing in New Orleans.”
“Dad let you go on a hunt on your own?”
“I’m twenty-six dude and besides Jamie has been solo hunts too. You’re the only one who’s behind.” Dean said.
Sam looked at his little sister with a mix of anger and surprise. She sighed and looked away. She wasn’t going to take dirt from someone who ran away from the life.
Sam walked over and hugged his sister. He already knew what she was thinking by the way she hugged him back. It wasn’t the kind of hug that popped his back and made his heels slightly lift up like before. It was just a return hug.
“Jamie. I left hunting behind, not you..”
“Well, you have a funny way of showing it. Fill him in Dean, I’m waiting in the car.” Jamie said. She knew she had no real right to be angry. She was there with him at the height of Dad’s obsession but she couldn’t relate. Well, she could but she refused it was the Same with Dean. it was always her reaching out after Sam left. They never needed her.
She got in the backseat and checked the time. it was late but Bobby would probably be up. She mulled it over for a moment opting to listen while Dean caught Sam up. A few minutes later she watched as Sam walked away. For a moment she wondered if he would walk back out. to her relief, he did. There was nothing she wanted more in the past year than to be with her family again sometimes.
Sam looked so much more mature, maybe even taller than when she last saw him, his hair was maybe an inch shorter and his clothes looked newer.
Sam jumped in and Dean followed.
“Looks like we’re getting the band back together.” Jamie joked, there was no better joy than irritating her brothers.
“Hell yeah!” Dean said as Sam rolled his eyes.
“I have to be back by Monday. No exceptions.”
Dean and Jamie rolled their eyes at their brother as the engine turned over. Jamie couldn't help but look back at Sam's house. It didn't feel like him at all. Right before they turned the corner, she could have sworn she Saw Jess looking through the downstairs window as they left. She did not look happy either.
-
Sam and Jamie sat in silence as Dean went into the convenience store. She could sense the tension he felt, how apprehensive he was about going on a hunting trip.
“Jamie,” Sam said, turning around to face his kid sister.
“What is it, Sammy? I’m reading here.” She said, putting the local newspaper down and looking at her older brother.
“I just, want you to know that when I left, I never left to get away from you.”
“Sam…” Jamie sighed. “I know you didn’t leave because of me.” Jamie adjusted her position taking up the entire backseat. “Yes, I am salty about it but you don’t have to keep apologizing. You still did more than Dad..or Dean for that matter.” She muttered. Sam tried to say something but Dean came back.
“Jamie, breakfast. Sammy?” Dean offered as he got into the car. Jamie accepted the cheap junk food and retired back to her newspaper. Dean mouthed to Sam, asking what was wrong with their sister and he gave Dean a look as if telling him to not go there.
“No breakfast. How are you guys even paying for this? Still running credit card scams?”
“Well, hunting isn’t exactly a pro-baller business,” Dean said.
“Did you forget the gummy bears?” Jamie asked from the backseat. Dean sighed and tossed them back to her. “Thanks.”
“Okay, game plan. Jamie is gonna get the motel set up, see if Dad left anything and we are gonna go get intel. We need more information.”
“Yeah, like Dad ever leaves us with any. Why am I stuck at the motel?” Jamie said, sitting up and chewing on gummy bears.
“Because you are the youngest and the youngest does research.” Sam piped in. Jamie could tell he didn’t like the fact that she was on the hunt. She grumbled and turned to face away. Sam rolled his eyes and gave Dean a look.
Jamie listened as they bickered over the music. Eventually, they took off and Jamie was left at some rank motel in town.
“Just like the old days. It would be fun he said. yeah, if leaving me in the motel my entire life is a fun childhood.” Jamie muttered to herself as she entered the hotel. Her role in this family unit was to stay behind.
She entered the motel room, flipped on the switch, and almost relaxed till she looked up and saw the walls covered wall the wall with what she could only assume were her Dad’s notes. Taking in her surroundings, there were sigils painted on the doors and windows, salt lining every entrance. Even the floor vent was covered.
“Dang Dad, what did you get yourself into?” She asked herself. Walking to the wall and reading over her Dad’s notes she could barely make sense of any of it. There were papers covering the walls, strings, and sticky notes. It was like a conspiracy theory board or something.
“Alright Dad, let’s see what you saw.” She muttered to herself. This was something she discovered fairly recently, something she could only attribute to her inheritance.
Jamie first realized there was a chance she could experience visions when she started getting into thousands of pages of lore Bobby had amassed and continued to grow as he went on his hunts with Rufus. She didn’t know for sure until she met her ex-boyfriend. He had been lying to her and she knew it, she went to punch him and saw visions of him with one of the girls from the cheerleading team.
Jamie scoffed to herself as she remembered the moment she discovered her visions, but they weren’t visions of the future like the lore had described; as far as she could tell they were visions of the past. The most recent moments of the past, but moments that had already happened nonetheless.
She tried to tell Bobby but she just couldn’t. He was already keeping her hunting secret at the time and she didn’t want to burden him with another. So she practiced in secret when Bobby was away, she would make her way up to the attic where he put the majority of his daughter’s belongings. She would touch them and see flashing moments of his daughters playing with them. Likely the last time they ever touched the many toys up there.
“Alright Jamie, you got this. Before Sam and Dean come back.” She muttered to herself before taking a deep breath through her teeth. She focused like she did with the girl’s toys and closed her eyes.
She felt her heartbeat outside of her body as she watched from the perspective of the wall. She saw her Dad staring back at her. Behind him, he was aligned with a mirror that hung in the room. He was haggard, standing a ways away from the wall, before walking towards it. he was on the phone, talking to someone. She couldn’t make out the words but she could almost read his lips.
The vision cut off and Jamie felt like she had fallen from high up and just made an impact with the ground. She stumbled back from the force and planted onto the bed.
“That was useful.” She muttered to herself, rubbing her brow to soothe the oncoming headache before gently laying down.
Sam and Dean returned in suits, sighing as they opened the motel door. Jamie had called them and told them all about the Dad’s room and how she couldn’t make sense of anything.
“Did you find anything, Jamie?” Dean called out. He didn’t hear a response. “Jamie? Are you in the bathroom?” Dean called again. Dean looked at Sam. “Where is she?” Dean asked as he walked through the small room. Only the bathroom was separated and a small wall led to a closet.
“Have you tried calling her?” Sam said, walking around the room and staring at his father’s obsession.
Dean muttered something under his breath and grabbed his phone.
“She better pick up.” He muttered. as the phone rang. sam listened as it rang and rang.
“This is Jamie Winchester’s main line, leave a message after the tunes. Caio.”
“Dammit, Jamie. Why is she always running off without telling us? We got her that phone for a reason.” Dean muttered as he changed out of the suit.
Sam stayed silent and changed as well. “Maybe she is at the library digging something up.” He suggested. Dean always jumped to worst-case scenarios when it came to him and Jamie. He raised her the same way Dean raised him. He was surprised that after she graduated she didn’t hightail it out of there for her mom.
Dean was calling again and on the third ring, it picked up.
“Hi D.”
“Jamie Winchester you answer when I call!” Dean sighed. He was just relieved she was okay.
“Okay jeez, don’t go all ‘Dad’ on me. I’m at the library digging up some local lore. I happen to have respect for municipal buildings big bro.” Jamie joked. “I took the bus and put my phone on silent.”
“Did you find anything good?” Dean asked, rubbing the bridge of his nose. Already regret picking her up from Bobby’s to help. Deep down he knew he wouldn’t be able to focus if she wasn’t near. The last year taught him how much he needs his family.
“Actually, yes. I did. Just like you said, over the years the killings have happened routinely and on the same stretch of road. I think it a haunting. Meet me here and I’ll fill you in.” Jamie negotiated.
“Okay. Sammy and I will come get you.” Dean agreed hanging up and turning to his brother. Who was standing by the door with his “I told you so” face.
“not a word out of you,” Dean said pushing past him. Sam rolled his eyes with a scoff and grabbed his bag.
“Why did you even bring her? You know Dad is going to tear us a new one for putting Jamie in danger. She should be in Sioux Falls.” Sam said following after his brother.
“She came along anyway and you know Dad could never say no to her? Remember when he got her .45 for her 13th birthday?” Dean said.
“No, you got scared after a ghost tried to haunt her at school and pretended Dad left it.” Sam corrected. His brother always seemed to remember some things differently than he and his sister. "She got suspended for having rounds in her backpack.
“Whatever,” Dean said, they got into the car and made their way to the library in town.
“So, how has she been?” Sam asked as he skimmed over some newspaper.
“Who Jamie? She is fine?” Dean said shrugging his shoulders.
“Dean, she is our little sister,” Sam said rolling his eyes. “Did you even know she’s been looking for her mom, Frida? Have you or Dad even checked on her in the last year? She is hunting on her own for god’s sake!”
Dean grimaced and looked over at his brother. He couldn’t image what would happen to his sister if they let her find Frida but he could also imagine how she must have felt when he didn’t call. He didn’t have a response, all he could think in that second was remembering what those bodies just a floor above his sister went through and how she could have been next.
“She will never find Frida. I don’t know why Dad kept giving her false hope.” Dean said, shaking his head and looking out the window.
“Dude, that’s her mom. She should be allowed to know her at least as an adult and we both know, Dad probably knows that she won’t stop till she gets what she wants.” Sam said. "I would have killed for a chance to know Mom."
This was where a lot of their arguments started. Over Jamie. It was either Jamie, Dad, or hunting.
“Sam, you know why we can’t let that happen.”
“Why because of something Jamie had nothing to do with and can’t control? We don’t even know if Frida went haywire on those guys that night.”
“That is exactly why. We are lucky Jamie didn’t get the full package. We got enough to worry about as it is.”
“How do we know that De-” Sam was about to start again, but the car was parked, and Dean looked up at the library.
“Sam.” Dean turned to his younger brother. His face was calm and his eyes watered for a second. His siblings had grown so much since he had last seen them. “I- never mind.” Dean didn’t even know what he was going to say. He got out and marched towards the library. Sam followed.
The boys walked in and searched for their little sister. Sam spotted her first and ruffled her hair before pulling a chair up. Just to get pushed out of the way by Dean.
“Hey! We have work to do, stop goofing off.” Jamie said. She hated how rough her brothers could get in public.
“Bitch.”
“Jerk.”
“Here look at this. I found this blog that talks about a close encounter someone had a couple of years ago. They also saw a woman in white that night but get this. This person heard her say something just before making it off the bridge the way he came. I think there are some embellishments but…” Jamie trailed off. She knew she at least found another witness account at best, her interweb slouthing skills needed serious improvement.
“here let me see,” Sam said. Jamie moved over, making room for her big brother. Dean wasn’t even paying attention. He was checking out the young librarian when he saw stacking books.
“Right here.” Sam pointed out. Jamie read the old article Sam had found.
“Dean, we found it,” Jamie said, tapping her eldest brother. “Does it say where she is buried, Sam?” Jessie asked, leaning forward.
Sam had to take a second. He felt like he had whiplash. He didn’t know how to feel about his baby sister going after a ghost with them, let alone whatever Dad was hunting. He puts it aside when Dean peaches them both away.
“No, but the survivor says that he heard the woman say “I can never go home.” The same thing that was in Dad’s messages.”
“Well?”
“Constance Welch. Committed suicide after her two children drowned, and threw herself off a local bridge.”
“brutal.” He muttered. “Alright, find out where she is buried Jamie, Sam and I will check out where she died,” Dean said.
“Okay, can I get some pizza money?” Jamie asked. She knew better than to argue on a hunt but at the same time, she couldn’t help but yearn to be in their place, actually saving people and hunting things.
Dean scoffed and reached into his pocket. Handing his sister and twenty and leaning down to make eye contact with her.
"If you aren't back at the motel by the time we are, I'm going to kill you." He said with a small smile.
"You couldn't even if you tried." She sassed back, taking the twenty and pocketing it. Jamie and Dean stared each other down
Back at the motel they were, Jamie splayed herself out on one of the beds. She felt exhausted, with no idea why but if her brothers-
“Why are you sleeping, Jamie? We still have some bones to burn.” Dean said.
“Ugh, can’t you just leave me alone for one minute? Ever since we got in the car it’s Jamie this and Jamie that. If you weren’t gonna let me hunt why bring me at all Dean!?” With that she stood up and walked out again, handing her jacket pockets and a scowl on her face
“Dude, what’s with her?” Dean asked confused as to why his sister was suddenly giving him so much attitude, they were fine less than an hour ago.
“I’ll go talk to her,” Sam said, zipping up his jacket and walking outside. Dean sat down and looked around.
Sam didn’t have to go far to find his kid sister. She was leaning up against the side of the motel, her head in her hands.
“Hey, June Bug.” Sam called, using her old nickname from when they were kids.
“I’m not a kid anymore Sammy.”
“And I’m not a chubby twelve year old but here we are.” He said, moving next to her and leaning on the ledge of the wall. “So. Are we going to talk about what just happened?”
“Igh. I don’t know. He is just like Dad. He rolls up expecting us to just follow him and put up with these stupid orders. I’ve been on my solo hunts from start to finish Sam! Why can’t they trust me to help? I have half a mind Dean set this all up just to get us together and I love it when we are together but when we are we-” She said, rubbing her brow as she spoke.
“We’re pretty nuclear, I know, June bug.” He said with a lazy smile he always had when he knew he was right. Sam reached up, pulling her hand down. He didn’t know if she kicked her hair-pulling habit but he didn’t want it to start again either way.
“Hey, I get it. Trust me but you know we are just trying to protect you. Hunting isn’t exactly a safe career choice and there sure as hell isn’t workman’s comp.” He tried to joke.
“Oh really, is it any safer than leaving a ten-year-old and a toddler in some random motel with a clerk who is probably a pedophile?” She asked, sitting up to face her brother. She was in his face, Sam never backed away from her though. He didn’t even flinch at his baby sister. All he could do was internally laugh at the irony of their family’s dynamic.
Sam was much bigger than she was. He was bigger than all of them actually but Jamie had no real fear of her brothers. They never saw her as any real threat either. Most of their restyling matches ended up with Dean holding her down while Sam ticketed her. This wasn’t one of those situations.
“Are you gonna go back to Bobby’s?” Sam asked.
“No, the only thing waiting for me there is a car that has no belt, Bobby, and a bunch of faces I don’t want to see.” Jamie kicked a loose rock away from her boot.
“Have you considered college? You’re wicked smart with machines, like Dean.”
“Yeah, and abandon my family, that would go over well. Ya know Sam when you left none of us talked to each other for three days. I know we grew up pretty unnoticed but we were never completely abandoned. You got to leave and you left me behind too.”
“Ja-Jamie come on. You can’t hold that against me forever you knew I had to leave!” Sam tried to argue.
“Sam, you forget I can feel your true intentions. Whether I want to or not so no matter how much you try to explain it away with all your logic and luscious hair, I know exactly how you felt that night and that won’t change.”
Sam huffed and chewed his cheek. If he knew one thing about Jamie Winchester, it was that she knew how to hold a grudge.

I. Bobby's (Winchester x Younger Sibling)
Summary: Dean goes to check on his little sister at Bobby's before heading out for Sam. He didn't except her to ride a long.
I don't like writing Y/N so deal with an OC that I think adds an interesting twist. She will of course have her own kind of things going on but im going to try and be as true to the plot line as possible. but I hope you enjoy. Help me come up with a title after a few chapters maybe.
Word count: 1.7k and some change.
Tumblr media
Jamie Winchester was not an ordinary girl in any sense of the word. She could take a car apart and put it back it together like she made it herself. She could cook something out of nothing every time and definitely take over the world if she tried.. She could also decapitate damn near anything that stood in her way and no matter how much she tried, she always knew what the people around her were feeling, and Dean was not feeling the best. He was anxious and stressed, maybe a little scared.
“I don’t know Dean, Sam was pretty adament about not hunting anymore. I think he’ll punch you if you even mention it to him.” She said in response to her brother as she reached for her wrench.
Dean sighed and picked it up, handing it to his little big sister. He couldn’t help but get sentimental. Remebering the times she would sit on the edge of the car while Dad taught him how to fix them. She definentaly picked that up.
“Yeah…but we can’t do it just me and you. You have school and he won’t want to be gone for more than a couple days.”
“Actually, I graduated last summer. You would know if you made it and Sam has a girlfriend. They live together pretty sure.”
“Wait, you talked to Sam?” Dean asked with raised eyebrows as his kid sister turned to face him, taking a giant gulp of her lemonade. She passed it to Dean and he accepted.
“Well yeah, He’s my brother and he is about to graduate. Bobby won’t let me drive his truck but he said if I fixed one of the cars up I could have it. You think I’d be out here in the heat otherwise?” She said as she grabbed a rag and wiped the grase off her hands.
“Right.”
“Dean, you never call and you sure as hell never pick up. Just like Dad, I swear.” She said rolling her eyes and walking away. Dean sighed and followed his sister into Bobby’s. Him and Dad had dropped her off so she could finish her last year of school without any inturuptions.
“Hey James Dean.” A joke Bobby had when he learned the kids names and just as siblings do, they greeting him at the same time unintentionally. Jamie rolled her eyes again.
“Bobby, I have work in an hour. Could you dig up a new belt for me?” Jamie asked as she throughly washed her hands and face in the kitchen sink.
“yeah, i have some around here somewhere. How have you been Dean?” Bobby asked, grabbing two beers from the fridge and handing Jamie a rag. She thanked him and leaned on the counter.
“I’ve been good Bobby, nothing too seerious. But Dad’s been on a hunting trip and hasn’t been back in two weeks. I’m getting worried.” Dean said.
There is was. What was nagging at her brother’s brain.
“Why didn’t you start with that Dean? My answer would have been totally different!” She piped up before Bobby could respond.
“Well, because I didn’t want you using your mumbo jumbo crap on me and trying to convicne me not to go looking for him!”
“Hey, I’ve changed a lot in the past year! I’ve even been on my own hunts!” She said. immedietly regretting saying what she just said. She looked at Bobby who looked away. They had an agreement after all.
“What the hell did you just say?” Dean said, standing up. Like everytime before, everything was always a yelling match at some point.
“Nothing, I have to get ready for work!” jamie said, running up the stairs and to her room. She locked the door and slid down.
“Fuck. i’ll never hear the end of it.” She muttered to herself. She couldn’t even imagine what would happen if Dad found out, but she was almost 18. She wouldn’t have to worry about that for a while, not till they found him at least. She sighed. She liked her job, at the local market just a general associate but it helped out, especially with her car.
She pulled out her phone. remembering when her dad gave it to her. Already opened and preprogramed with his, Dean, Sam, Bobby’s, and even her Mom’s last known phone number. She had added to the contact last since and a few charms on the end. She searched through her contacts for her boss and called him.
“Jamie, how are you?” Her boss said.
“Hey Carl. I know this is a really bad time but I have to quit.” She said. She felt really bad because Carl had ben really good to her. Giving her a job and any hours he could. “Some really important family issue came up.”
“Well, it is an hour before your shift. I’ll be a cool manager and cover since you’ve been working so hard. I’m gonna miss you Jamie. You’ll always have a shift here at the store. Best of luck with your family.”
“Thank you for being so understanding Carl, and I appriciate everything you’ve done for me this past year. Bye.” She hung up and looked at her room. It used to belong to Bobby’s daughters, but when Dad had asked him to house her for a while he couldn’t say no. She knew that she made Bobby feel better just by being there. She felt bad for having to leave but he would understand.
Jamie stood up and quickly packed her things. Over the years she had gotten good at making it quick. Always laid things out in the order in case Dad rushed in and screamed at her to pack.
She could still hear Dean downstairs. He could feel his intentions of interrogating her build in his gut. She grabbed a towel and jumped into the shower. She contemplated the choice she was making. The Family Business. She always saw herself as a solo hunter in her adulthood. Worked part-time jobs as she guarded unsuspecting towns against what went bump in the night. Just like her family, just not with them. It was like the military sometimes. Always on the move, always ready to run at any second. She loved her family and they loved her as far as she could tell. None of them knew how to feel about her being a legit empath but she knew somewhere along the lines they accepted and came to see it as an asset.
Empathy. A curse in her eyes. Supposedly a powerful mental gift was passed down by her mother who was a psychic and wanted nothing to do with her. Only Sam related to her feeling different. they never spoke about it more than two or three times in their life, the most right before Sam left. Dad did his best to never treat her differently but he had no idea how to raise a kid with physcic abiltites, but he did his best. She always knew he did his best. Dean, he was always harder to read more blocked off with those emotions.
She finished her shower, put on some clothes and grabbed her duffle. Racing downstairs and back to the dining room where her brother and uncle still sat.
“Hey, where are you going?” Bobby asked.
“With my brother, to find my Dad.” She said as if it was the most normal thing in the world. She went to the fridge and grabbed a soda and a road beer for Dean.
“No way, it will be way to dangerous,” Dean said standing up and confronting his little sister.
“and what about your job?” Bobby asked.
“I quit. I am a Winchester, not a clerk. We need to go get Sam and we need to find Dad.” She said, staring up at him, another thing she inherited. Her very own Winchester Stare.
On her way out the back door she gave Bobby a quick peck on the cheek. “Bye Bobby. I’ll call you when we get Sam.” She said.
“oh uhm Okay. I guess? Teenagers.” He said with a sigh as he got up and grabbed another beer.
“Bobby you’re just gonna let her go!?” Dean asked.
“Hey you heard her. Plus, she has made some major improvments since you guys left her here. After she graduated she hit the lore hard. She wants to do everything she can to help you guys hunt that demon and find her mom. You can’t blame her. She is you’re sister!”
“We left her here so she could get away from this life! Not go out on her own!”
“I didn’t even know she was till she called me covered in vamp blood. I’ve seen it, she is as ready as she will ever be.”
The conversation was broken up by the Impala’s car alarm. Dean tried to keep talking but the horn began to blow. Jamie, always the one to pinch Dean’s nerves.
“This isn’t over Bobby,” he said as he made his way outside. He was missing how Bobby rolled his eyes. He could only chuckle at how much like their Dad they were.
“Alright enough!” Dean shouted. Turning off the alarm and getting into the driver’s seat. Jame had already made herself comfortable in the passenger.
“This will be fun, I never get to ride shotgun.” She said, already combing through Dad’s cassettes for her mixtape.
“Jamie.” Dean said as he watched his sister. He knew she knew what he was going to ask and that he didn’t even need to.
Jamie sighed. “I know. I shouldn’t be hunting. But Dean! Just after Sam left I thought you guys would finally take me seriously. Dad taught me the same stuff after all, but it didn’t change one bit. “Stay in the car Jamie in case we have to run. Shoot anything that moves.” and then you guys left me here after the vampire in Omaha i just. i don’t want to be the only Winchester who can’t do her job.” She rambled.
“Dad’s gonna be pissed.” Dean said looking forward.
“We can cross that bridge when we find him.” She said, popping open the beer she had grabbed for Dean and handing it to him and opening her cream soda. Dean chuckled.
“You remembered?” Dean asked. Their tradition. A beer and a cream soda.
“Of course!” She said as Dean turned the engine over and cheered with his little sister. “Just wait till it’s a beer!” She said.
"Don't push it. You're still my little sister."
