"On this day in 1986, Cocteau Twins released the EP 'Love’s Easy Tears'"--without question, not much else from the 1980s can compare to the four songs (well, four on the US version) on this CT record. Arguably the pinnacle of their chiming, multi-vocal-tracked, heightened-bliss sound. The ending of "Those Eyes, That Mouth" alone could rank with the most epiphanic snippets in all of music.

"Fall," by Sway, from 2003's The Millia Pink and Green EP: without question, one of the greatest Slowdive-soundalike songs that isn't actually Slowdive. It just drifts and tumbles and chimes along rapturously and mysteriously until its "Primal"-ish end. Absolute bliss.

To mark the 20th Anniversary of the original release of Mysterious Skin, Gregg Araki’s film of my novel, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is screening this newly restored 4K version, followed by a Q&A and other stuff. I’ll be there, as will Gregg and Joseph and lots of other wonderful people.
