This time two years ago I was getting packed and ready to fly to Seattle for the 2nd time- my first move to a different city in 22 years. It’s hard to process, and to remember, that I left so willingly and with so much joy. I’m older, grayer, not sure if wiser, but certainly changed. For the better? Unknown, but irrelevant. Definitely hugely changed. No matter how often or deeply my soul aches for NYC, I grasp for what keeps me going: we will always be able to say we leapt. We took the risk, we took the opportunity, we chose the adventure and the unknown. And @ryanhurley13, we get to see beauty, and each other, every day. I woke up Ryan at 10:15a, we went and got breakfast, we caught up, cleaned the apartment a little; Ryan went to work, I watched YouTube, snacked, took a nap. I woke up, sat on the floor looking at this view, played piano. Turns out if you follow your therapist’s guidance and homework, you really can slow down your brain and body and just calmly exist. Well, it’s official: Today I have formally graduated and received my Masters of Science in Nursing Executive Leadership. I am valedictorian and have been inducted into the Nursing Honor Society. I have been working all weekend, including all day today, so I can’t quite process this yet. I just know I am so grateful, and relieved, and happy. This has been the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I don’t know how I did it really, but @ryanhurley13 you are the reason I made it. You encouraged me and uplifted me in all my darkest moments, when I didn’t believe I could keep going. You held a loving and safe space for me, and believed in me. I could not have done this without you, and now we can start this new chapter of our journey. In this chapter, I get to see you all the time (well, once this weekend is done) and enjoy you without the weight and distraction of school. Here’s to our new adventures!
