ALWAYS & FOREVER

A Yoon Jeonghan fanfiction.

Word count: 1481

Warnings: Tragic (historical/medieval) love story.I tried. Fast paced. Kinda cliche but I enjoyed writing this so wtvr. Angsty?. Just tragic af. Not the happiest ending hehe.

As a soon to be queen, you had rules to follow. You were expected to do a lot things even if they weren't wirtten down as rules. One of them was for you to marry another prince. Another person brought up in royalty who would be fit to rule alongside you.

If only you hadn't fallen in love with the guard assigned to protect you, your actual knight in shining armour, Yoon Jeonghan.

Your father wasn't very fond of you going against the unspoken rule. He wanted you to marry someone strong, who could handle the kingdom well. He should've known before letting you spend your childhood alongside JeongHan. He was always with you, it was bound to happen but he wouldn't just sit back and watch his daughter marry a mere gaurd while he was alive and breathing.

A fight was set to happen. Against the prince of the strongest kingdom, Choi seungcheol. Who your father wanted you to marry and him, your one true love Yoon JeongHan.

The fight was going to be a brutal one since there were no rules, no restriction. Just a sword and the two fighters. "Whoever wins, will marry my daughter" was announced by your father that day.

You were worried. Very worried. It wasn't that Jeonghan wasn't strong, he had been trained to fight his whole life but the reason was that Choi Seungcheol was from the strongest kingdom ever known. He had never lost in a fight. He was bigger than Jeonghan and even though Jeonghan had trained since he was 15 in sword fight, he had hardly been in actual fights as he had been given the duty to be with you every single second to make sure of your safety.

"Don't worry princess, I'm right here. Behind you always incase you fall"

"Take my hand princess, I'll guide you"

"I have given my whole life for your protection princess, what else is a greater love confession than this, hmm?

"Oh please, you won't even be able to spend a minute without me being by your side princess, accept it already!"

"You know how you love the moon princess? I love the stars."

"Oh? Why is that" you asked.

"Because no matter the situation, stars will always accompany the moon. Making the night sky prettier." He smiled at you.

He wasn't something you wanted. He was something you needed. In your life full of expectations, judgement and prying eyes. You could always be yourself around him. He was a gift, The stars to your moon. Oh, how much you loved him.

You would gladly run away from the world for him but you knew Jeonghan would want you to fight with your head up. So, when your dad asked for the fight, even though you were scared you knew being JeongHan's support was your first priority.

He had spent the past 5 days practicing. Just practicing. You had accompanied him through those days just sitting there in the room with him as if silently telling him that you're there, always there for him too. You knew he felt it. He always did.

There was just another day left before the fight. This day was different tho, he had asked you to come with him not telling you anything. As you hopped off your horses you realised the familiar plains you were looking at. Jeonghan's home.

Whenever you two wanted an escape from the royalty, you'd come to the outskirts of your kingdom where his mother lived. She had already accepted you as her daughter in law. She was always there for, from the young age of 17, when JeongHan first took you to meet her. She was more like your mother to you than your own mother who just blindly followed your father's orders.

"Oh my, where were you for so long! Do you know how much I've missed you?" She pulled you in a motherly hug. It was as if all your worries and tension from the past few days vanished. "Mom, I'm your son and you still hug her first, not fair"

"Oh stop being jealous, come here" you giggled as Jeonghan's arms squished both you and his mother further into a group hug.

"Come, I'll make you your favourite food" she took you inside. She denied to live in a better place saying she was too old for anything else and this was enough for her. Even though this house wasn't in the best of condition, it was still as comforting as you remember.

After sharing a delicious meal, Jeonghan was too tired to do anything and went to sleep on a soft mattress which was layed down for you, whenever you'd come over. As you sat outside for some fresh air, his mother joined you. There was a comforting silence between you too until you decided to break it. "I'm scared mom, the fight is tomorrow and- " you had to take a breath to not break down right in front of her. "And I don't want to lose him" You said as she crushed you in another hug.

"Oh my sweet child" she rubbed your back as she continued to hug you. "I am sure seeing you cry is going to break his heart sweetheart, right now you need to be there for him. Show him you love him and I'm sure whatever happens, true love will always find a way."

"Now go sleep, you need it too"

You slept on the mattress layed beside jeonghan. Sensing your presence, he pulled you closer by the waist until your back was completely pressed to his body. "I love you, never forget it princess" he kissed the back of your neck. Even his unconscious brain never failed to express his love for you.

The next day, you reached the kingdom with heavy hearts filled with uncertainty. This fight wouldn't be easy. As time passed by people started to gather to see the big fight. The whole kingdom was there to see the fight for your love. As the bell rung, It signalled for the fight to start.

As there were no rules, the fight could go however pleased and that's what worried you the most. Both JeongHan and seungcheol were strong it was obvious with how both were blocking each other's attacks without much of a scratch. But the longer it went the more you heart ached for Jeonghan.

The fight was going tight as both of them kept blocking each other's attack. Until suddenly, seungcheol kicked Jeonghan in his stomach causing him to drop on his back due to the sudden attack. For a normal sword fight, only sword attacks are allowed which is why Jeonghan was taken aback. Seungcheol's sword now pointing directly towards Jeonghan's heart. "NOO" you yelled as seungcheol pushed that sword in slowly as Jeonghan whimpered in pain.

There was no way you'd sit back and watch your lover die. You took out your own knife you used to keep in your boots in case of emergencies and you ran towards seungcheol. You stabbed seungcheol in the neck successfully, his instincts kicking in as he took the sword out of Jeonghan, flicking it as your direction and successful stabbing you in your upper abdomen. "Oh no no no no, why would you do that" seunghceol said furious at you for running in like that. If he had seen it was you he wouldn't have stabbed you.

Your dad just sat there watching all of this break down without even a slight eyebrow Twitch at seeing his daughter fall down besides her lover, slowly losing blood. You could hear the people's shout of worry fading as your blood was losing quickly. Jeonghan layed right besides you, holding his chest with his arm as he slightly wriggled himself closer to your ear.

"I'm so sorry Jeonghan, I'm so sorry" was what you could mutter out in guilt as you blamed yourself for being born in royalty for having a heartless dad who didn't care about his daughter. "No- no princess, I would gladly fight for you anyday"

"Jeonghan, I love you so much." You said while sobbing in his neck.

He took all his strength left as he wrapped his arms around you, pulling you closer as he said.

"If the earth doesn't allow it princess, I'll love you in heaven"

Maybe true love is spending all your life with that someone. Maybe true love is fighting for you lover until your last breath. Maybe ture love is taking your last breath with each other, even if that means it's the end because in the end true love always finds a way to win.

That night your love won. In the nightly dim sky as your bodies were burried together, The shining full moon with the brightest star seen besides it, was enough proof of it.

"Out of all the birthday gifts i've received, you're my favourite"

Synopsis~ In which your best friend forgets your birthday but gives you the best gift you could ever get.

Pairing~ Hong Joshua x gn!reader

Warnings~ Short fluff, both of you are VERY smitten for each other. Bestfriends-to-lover. Reader has long hair.

It was 11:35. Even though you weren't that big on celebrating birthdays, you were definitely saddened by the fact your best friend forgot your birthday.

You knew he was a busy man but even a tiny message on your phone would've lifted your spirits up. Maybe another reason why his birthday wish mattered more was because you had feelings for him which you had promised yourself, you'd put aside and move on from but it wasn't easy as he was known to be gentleman and his tendencies to care slightly more than a normal friend would, had you falling for him more everyday.

He did small things like cook you breakfast every time he stayed over for the night. Make sure to buy stuff you like whenever he'd go grocery shopping for his place. Would bring you chocolates,ice cream, your favourite food and even roses when you weren't feeling as good. He was always there for you, always. Which is why you thought if he gave you a good enough reason, you'd forgive him in a second.

You had already started watching the new movie which you had hoped to watch with him. You sat with your favourite noodles (which he had brought the last time he went shopping) and tried taking your mind off him.

The ringing of your doorbell and then the door opening was enough to raise your heartbeat as it was obvious it was Joshua as he was the only one with a spare key to your house.

He was wearing a simple white tshirt with simple white pants yet he looked so good under the dim light of your living room. "Gosh, y/n I am so sorry-" "save it shua, unless you've got a good explanation I don't wanna hear it" he had taken his shoes off and kept the small paper bag he was carrying down at the table, beside your still warm ramen. "I know, I am so sorry. I was caught up with work and yes I know I could've messaged, but I had a special gift to give and I wanted it to be in person-" he stopped as he took out his phone from his pocket, "it's 11:55, it's still your birthday, happy birthday y/n" he said with a huge smile on his face as he put out his hands in a hug. Gosh if he kept behaving like this, how were you supposed to stay mad at him.

He took the cake out which he had bought. It was all white with red hearts and a happy birthday with your initials was on lettered in it in red icing. "It's for you, but we can save it for later because I have something more important for now" he smiled.

He got up, quickly kept the cake in the fridge and sat back down. He opened the paper bag and took out a small velvet case, "Before I give it to you, I need to ask you something" he kept the box in his lap and took your hands in his and looked into your eyes.

"You're the most special person in my life y/n. You make me the happiest person in this world, every moment I spend with you is my favourite. Your laugh, your smile, your eyes, everything that makes you, you. is my favourite. You're my favourite person." He took the box in his hands and opened it

A small half heart silver pendant was facing you, he turned it around to show you the small hj inscribed in it. "Would you like to go out with me? I promise to love you with every breath, every moment we spend together."

You were in tears. This felt like a fever dream, the man you loved for so long was here in front of you saying words you've yearned to hear. "Y/n.. you haven't said anything yet" "oh my god shua, how could I ever say no. You're the most precious person to me" you chuckled "i'd love to go out with you" you wiped your tears as you pulled him in a hug.

He was smiling so hard, his cheeks were hurting but he didn't care. "Wait, here, let me help you wear this" you turned around slightly, pushing your hair aside, so he could put it on you. "Gosh shua, this is so pretty" "Andddd I have the other half of the heart with your initials in it" he showed you his, which was hidden under his white shirt.

You completed each other like the matching Lockets, which were now a sign of your love.

"Oh right, the movie! I know it's not your birthday anymore but we can still watch it right?" "Yeah we can" you smiled as he pulled you closer.

Your arms were tangled in each other. Your lips on his. You guys had long forgotten the movie that was playing as right now, it was you, him and your love which was all that mattered. Your kisses were saying everything that was left unsaid.

"Shua" You said on his lips, causing him to pull apart slightly. "Hmm?" He hummed. "Do you know what's my favourite birthday gift ever?" "The matching lockets?" "No, you"

YOU always enjoyed weddings, especially the part with the vows. Watching two people in love celebrate their love and join their lives and families as one was something that brought you joy.

Your bestfriend, her fiance and you had met up on a few occassions to get to know eachother. Sometimes he would bring his friends too, secretly in hopes to set you up together but it ended up with both you being friends. He had 12 close friends so your bestfriend was secretly hoping for you to fall in love with one of them. But sadly you hadn't met the one till now.

You were done getting ready so you decided to spend the remaining time sitting by your bestfriend as she got ready for her big day, in case she needs help.

"You look so pretty today, if seokmin doesn't shed a tear when he sees you, he ain't the man" You joke slightly making her giggle. "He will surely cry, maybe more than I will" Seeing her happy made you smile.

"Well let me know if you need anything"

You were more than glad to be there with her instead of greeting and socializing with the people outside as you barely knew anyone but as she had forced you out the room saying her mom was there to help her and instead you should socialize and meet new people because in her exact words 'maybe you will find your man in the crowd' whatever that meant.

You straightened out your dress once more before walking out where the tables were set up. Your bestfriend loved the ocean and wanted a beach wedding so you decided to take a drink and go enjoy the view of the jeju beaches. As you reached closer to the shore, you took off your heels and set them aside as you walked a little bit closer to the water until the cool waves hit your feet.

You sipped quietly on your iced apple juice as it was too early to drink for you. The sound of the ocean waves and the chattering of the people had gotten distant as you were lost in your head.

It wasn't soon when you were startled by the presence of someone walking right beside you, you looked to your side and met eyes with one of the most gorgeous men you've seen. "Hi, I'm chan, it's nice to meet you" he smiled.

His attire was perfectly fitting to his body and it seemed as if he shined brighter than the rose in the front pocket of his well tailored suit jacket.

You introduced yourself, returning his smile hoping he wouldn't notice how flustered you were under his presence. "I am close friends with seokmin, and, the best man!" his eyes seemed to glisten while talking about his friend. At first you were against the idea of dating seokmin's friend but right now, that idea wasn't sounding that bad.

"It's nice to meet you" you extended your hands out for a friendly handshake but cursed at yourself mentally as you were making things awkward. As soon his hands touched yours, sparks flew. As cliche as it sounded, it didn't matter to you right now because you were experiencing one of the most cliche tropes in a romance book, Love at first sight.

"What's a pretty girl like you doing here all alone?" He asked.

"Do you ask that to every girl you see?creep" you joked slightly

"Well, no. It's not everyday that I go to my best friend's wedding and meet a pretty girl like you" he smiled slightly.

"Oh well im flattered you think I'm pretty when I'm sure every single female in here would love to have you for themselves"

"I dont care about the others, not when I have you here" he didn't even leave a second between your words as he answered quickly.

You didn't know him for long but his eyes told you his words were sincere. You were ready to risk everything and anything for him and no matter how stupid it was, you didn't care. You didn't cars as long as he was here with you. But you would never say that out loud.

"Why are you standing here all alone? Why don't you come over at our table, I'll introduce you to the others" his smile made him look more handsome. The way his eyes crinkled, you could stare at him all day. But that has to be put aside for now. He helped you wear your heels.

You had already met seungkwan, vernon, seungcheol and jeonghan and were curious to meet the others and not to mention, you wanted to get to know chan better so you decided to take him up on the offer.

He hadn't left your hands after your handshake and carried you to the table, leading you with your hands. He walked you to a huge table where 11 guys were sitting and some of them with girls, you assumed to be their girlfriends.

He pulled out a chair for you and sat at the empty one right beside it. There was a girl sitting beside you who introduced herself as kwon soomin, soonyoung's wife. Everyone except seungkwan, vernon and Jun had wives or girlfriends- soon to be their wives. They all looked like a big happy family.

You introduced yourself to everyone, with a soft smile on your face. You were feeling slightly nervous with so many eyes on you and especially, his. You could feel his stare and how intense it was.

Gosh you were so pretty, he could get lost in your eyes. He wondered if you were as smitten for him as he was for you. He hoped that your heart was also beating as fast as his was.

"Dino, I asked you to get me drink but it seems like you got a little distracted" seungcheol joked. "Ahh shit! I forgot. But it's not my fault, it's not like I meet someone like her everyday" you blushed at his words but you couldn't let others see that so you took a sip of the apple juice from earlier. All the ice had melted already and only a little was left in the glass.

Chan noticed. "Let me refill that for you, love" without waiting for a reply, he left taking your glass from your hands and leaving the table. Gosh that nickname had you weak in the knees.

"You've already gotten him all swooned for you, I can already see how your marriage is going to be like" soonyoung joked, causing some to giggle.

"How could you say that, we don't even know if she likes him or not" she slapped her husband in his arm playfully and turned to you, "do you?" She asked raising her eyebrows. "I..." You smiled slightly not knowing what to say but before she could say anything about it, dino had come back. He handed you your drink and sat down. "What are you guys talking about" he asked. "Oh just how You and her's marriage would look like" and once again the sound of giggles took over.

It had been some time, we chatted and got to know each other more as we played an impromptu never have I ever with our drinks as we waited for the bride to enter. As it was time to, we took our places at the altar. You were standing right by the bride and in front of the bestman of the wedding, dino.

The wedding was absolutely gorgeous and during the vows, you might have shed a little tears. Throughout all of it, the constant eye contact and knowing smiles between you and dino wouldn't fail to cause butterflies in both of your stomachs.

After the wedding, the couple had their first dance as we all stood apart. You walked over to the side as dino soon took the space by your side. "You looked so pretty up there, I didnt know you could get any prettier" you smiled at his words. "You surely know your way with flattery, don't you" you nudged him slightly by the shoulders . "I am just complementing my girl" "your girl?" "Aren't you?" "You haven't asked me yet and how are you so sure I'd say yes" "well, will you say no?" "You'll find out when you ask"

As the newly wedded couples finished their dance, it was now open for others to dance. A lot of couples went on the stage and danced hand in hand to the slow music. "Wanna dance?" "I am not that good at dancing-" "Just trust me, you do right?" He put his hands out, for you to take. You took it gladly with a smile, "I do"

He put his hands around your waist and you put yours on his shoulder. "You surprisingly do know how to dance" you nodded your head as a sign of showing how impressed you were. "I am full of surprises, just wait and see for yourself" he smirked. "Oh are you now?" You smiled.

"What?I can't hear you over the music" and with that said he pulled me closer, so close you could smell his cologne, from his neck. So close you could feel his breath on your face. So close you could feel the connection between each other and you know he did too. Your heart was beating fast, so fast you wondered if he could hear it, feel it.

"Do you wanna go somewhere..quiter" he said. "My feet are a bit tired of dancing, so yes" He took you by your hands to a secluded part of the beach away from the crowd and the music.

"So.. How long are you gonna stay here after the wedding" he asked as his hands were still in mine as we sat down on some big rocks near the shore. "I am staying for another two days. You?" "Oh me too, the group and I have planned to roam around Jeju Island for the next two days" You wondered slightly how this seemingly abnormal coincidence happened in the first place and then it hit you how maybe all of this was planned.

your stay for another two days was done by your best friend who forced you to stay longer and explore jeju Island, saying how you won't get a chance like this again. As you did need a break, you agreed and it was her who booked everything for the two days, saying it was a treat for helping her with the wedding.

" You should join us, I'm sure the others won't mind" He suggested. "What about you" "what about me?" "Would you mind?"

"I'd be the happiest to have your company with us" he looked at you and smiled. "This may be too early but I want to say this". He paused as he turned completely towards you. You didn't realise how close you were sitting until this moment.

"Will you go out with me? I want to ask you to be mine already but I'd prefer you get to know me first, I don't want this to be too soon for you" you smiled, "Too soon? I've already fallen for you, and what's the point of waiting when I already know what the answer is going to be? It's a yes"

He seemed surprised by your answer. "A yes to being mine or the date?" He asked. You smiled but this time instead of answering, you pulled him closer by his neck and gave him a soft kiss on the lips. You soon broke it off, not sure how he'd reciprocate it. But you got your answer as soon as you broke the contract of your sweet kiss, he pulled you closer, this time deepening the kiss and making it longer.

When you finally broke apart, you both were a smiling mess. You just stared at each other, eyes crinkled with huge smiles on your faces. "The way you make me the happiest person on earth, makes me never wanna let you go, and I promise I never will" He said. "As much as I wanna stay here with you, we should probably go back to the wedding, they might be wondering where we are" You said, getting up from the stone. "Oh yeah!" It was as if he finally realised where he was.

You both walked hands in hands back to the table where everyone was sitting but now the bride and groom were sitting at the table too.

"Looks like someone had a little too much fun " maybe your messy hair and deep in love smiles must have given it away.

"Congratulations on your wedding!" you hugged both seokmin and your bestfriend. "Thank you", seokmin smiled, his smile was brighter than the sun could ever be. " but I can't help but wonder" seokmin said, "when's your wedding?" We both glanced at each other and giggled.

Looking at your intertwined hands and his face as he laughed and joked around with his brothers and now your good friends too, you couldn't help but wonder, 'have I known him 20 seconds, or 20 years"

How stupid is love at first sight. How stupid is falling in love with someone without even knowing who that someone is truly. If someone told Chan he would find love at his best friend's wedding, he'd laugh. If someone told you, youd find love at your best friend's wedding, you'd laugh at how dumb that sounded. How stupid were you to even think so, because when with him, even love at first sight felt real.

There he was, your lover.

They were just kids that fell in love, so In love that they promised to spend all their life together.

But this wasn't the happy ending they thought they'd have as the princess is accused of helping a spy and has to be betrayed by the prince who has to choose his family and Kingdom over her.

How will their love survive?

I know it's hard to believe but this is actually a dream I had where I fell in love with this prince and then when I left my kingdom to live in his (before our marriage) I help this lady, ofc who turns out to be the spy

The queen finds out and well... This loving and caring family suddenly turns against me and so does the prince.

I don't remember the dream vividly but he does come to visit me in the jail and it's all just so angsty I love it.

Should I actually try to write a story on this lol? Idk if anyone would be interested even hagaha, lemme know :)
