i can still see it all. (joshua hong x reader)

Sunset was your favorite part of the day.
There was something about the way it colored the ground orange, bathing everything in a warm glow, the waves glittering under the slowly fading sunlight that brought your young heart at ease. At fifteen, when every minor issue felt like the end of the world, Santa Monica pier was your escape. Every weekend you would end up on the same wooden boards, feet pattering against them and the swish of ocean waves roaring in your ears. Multiple other footsteps echoed beside you and behind you, the chattering and laughing of the teenage voices that belonged to your friends blending with the hustle and bustle of the weekend crowd at the pier. In your clearest memory, your eyes would meet warm brown ones, appearing a lighter hazel in the fading sunlight, skin tinted golden, and laugh like a melody echoing in your mind….
Your alarm is a jarring sound.
You startle awake as it cuts through the tranquility of your dreamscape, making you bite back an annoyed groan as it keeps beeping on, ripping you further and further away from the warmth of the pier and distant doe eyes that keep you company as you sleep. Your hand shoots out and slaps at your phone blindly, shutting it up. In the glare of the screen, you make out a blurred 10:00am. A heaving sigh leaves your body as it registers in your head that it’s Friday morning. You stare at the curtains covering your window, early morning light filtering through them and making your room visible. All is silent.
……. It is Friday morning.
You remember your dream, or rather, childhood memory. It’s been a while since you last thought of LA or Santa Monica, despite spending so much of your childhood in that area. You understand why you’re dreaming about it now though, considering what today is. As you stare at the ceiling, you mentally prepare yourself for the day. It doesn’t matter, though. You haven’t managed to prepare yourself in the last couple of weeks, so it hardly seems like you’ll turn it around on the morning of. Brown eyes flick through your mind again.
Showering and getting ready are a nervous affair. There seems to be a charge in the air, like static, ready to zap you the minute you make a sudden move. You contemplate stopping for breakfast, and choose to forego it when your stomach protests at the thought. Coffee would have to do. You can deal with the consequences of plain coffee on your bowels later. There’s much more important things to freak about now.
As you’re driving to the arena, you feel irritation replace your apprehension. Come on. There’s no way he remembers you. It has been fifteen years since you last saw him. You doubt he could recall you even if someone told him your name. Which, by the way, no one would have told him your name. You are sure that in his line of work, hair stylists come and go. How many had he worked with already, in his near ten-year career? You are just a blip, here to take care of the group during the American leg of their tour and then going about your life once again. That’s it.
You weren’t surprised when you were first offered the job to be the on-tour hairstylist for an idol group. You had worked with many in the past as they came to America for appearances or while on tour. In your near decade of working, you have managed to build an impressive portfolio. But you had been frozen solid when you found out who this particular client was. Of course you knew them. You had followed their careers since before they debuted. You had promised you would, just as he had promised to keep in touch before he left.
Only one of you had kept your promise.
The coffee is bitter on your tongue, and it wakes you up before it even hits your stomach. You let the GPS on your phone guide you to the location sent to you by one of the staff members. Already, you can see people outside the venue. No shock there. This was a very anticipated tour. The air feels crisp and charged, now with excitement rather than the fearful doomed feeling you experienced that morning in your room. The sun is already way up, announcing the arrival of midday.
It’s a blur of introductions inside the building. Everyone is extremely nice, and someone in a black button up and jeans finds you immediately, as if already looking for you, leading you down a corridor as they talk to you a bit about what’s happening.
“Usually we don’t have the hair and makeup staff come this early.” Her voice is cheery and light. “But the members have to film a bit before the show today so they need to get ready early.”
“I don’t mind at all.” You immediately jump to answer, eager to come off as a team player. Also, midday isn’t early at all for you, though it may be early for them considering the concert didn’t start for another six hours.
You are shown into a large room and you immediately feel at home as soon as you step in. The mirrors are large and the hair and makeup stations are well lit. There are too many chairs to count there, some facing the mirrors and others scattered haphazardly everywhere else. Towards the far end of the room, one chair is already occupied, and you can see a woman bent over the man in the chair, her hand making careful strokes with a brush over his closed eyelids. His hair is a bright blond under the glare of the lights, matted down on his head. He must have freshly washed it. Next to him, another seat is occupied, but this time with a brunette who is lazily scrolling through his phone. He looks up when he hears you shuffling about. You immediately recognize him.
His smile is bright as he pushes off the chair in favor of walking over to you. You bow courteously.
Lee Seokmin is as handsome as he always looked on screen. You would argue he is even more stunning in real life. His voice is friendly and warm, and you immediately feel at ease. He introduces himself even though he needs no introduction, and you return the pleasantries. The voices make his blond friend turn his head towards you curiously, and you recognize Soonyoung just as quickly as you had recognized Seokmin.
They are quick to make conversation with you when they learn that you are their hairstylist, talking to you as if they had known you forever. It’s slightly jarring how quickly they become comfortable with you, because while you had been staring at them on a screen for years, they didn’t know you before this at all. It is hard not to be charmed by them though, they are incredibly kind and engaging. They ask you about your job, tell you how excited they are to be there, ask for food recommendations and before you know it, you are somehow roped into dinner plans.
“I don’t know if that’s a good idea….” You can’t help but feel sheepish. Seokmin waves you off immediately.
“It’ll be our treat! We take the staff out for dinner and drinks all the time. You had to show up this early. It’s the least we can do.”
You think it’s best not to say that you are paid to be here. It’s not like you are doing this for free. Both of them are so nice about it that you really don’t think your snark has any place in this conversation. You choose to switch the topic.
“Speaking of, why are only two of you here? What about the others?” You try to sound nonchalant. Try not to let your nerves creep in again. You can’t afford to freak out now. Not when he could walk in the door at any moment.
That makes Soonyoung snicker and Seokmin let out a painful sigh. He jabs a thumb backward to point at his friend, who is just about done with his makeup. “He spoiled something important while doing a live yesterday. He dragged me along by guilting me into it.”
Soonyoung seems proud of the fact, and you can tell Seokmin doesn’t mind as much as he is pretending to. You can’t help but smile as well. It’s crazy how comfortable you already feel around the two.
You are almost done with Soonyoung’s hair when other members slowly start to trickle in. Your heart speeds up. You try to keep your face straight and all your focus on the short strands of hair sticking up between your fingers. They greet you one by one as they show up. Wonwoo first, Chan right behind him. You introduce yourself to all of them, throwing some “nice to meet you”s in there. The room slowly swells with noise, multiple separate conversations and some laughs here and there. Some time passes. Seungkwan sits down in front of you. When Joshua walks into the room, everything stills for one small second.
He looks the same. Boyish charm and doe eyes. He sounds the same too, syrupy sweet voice, slightly deeper than you remember. He is running a towel through his wet hair. Some strands stick to the damp skin on his forehead. His face is bare, just the way you remember it. When he smiles, his eyes crinkle the same way. He laughs at something Soonyoung says to him. Same laugh.
But he is so….. different. He is taller, and much broader. You try not to let your eyes linger on his arms, bare because of the tank top he had chosen to wear. Heat rises up the back of your neck, and you run a small comb through Seungkwan’s hair, parting it down the middle. He is saying something about the content they are supposed to film before the show, and you feel a bit bad for not focusing on what he is talking about. But Joshua is right there, mere feet from you after nearly a decade and a half of being apart. It is hard to focus on anything other than the boy you had given your heart to when you were so young.
It seems he has chosen to focus on you too, in that very moment. He notices you working on his friend’s hair, and then he is walking to you. You freeze.
“Hi. Joshua.” He bows a little. You reciprocate, though it’s more jerky and not as smooth as his. You immediately kick yourself. Managing to return his smile, you tell him your name. His face shifts a bit, and you freeze again in shock. There’s no way….
He repeats your name, this time more questioning. You nod slowly.
“No way!” His eyes are wide, recognition flicking through them. Beautiful brown, rich like chocolate. You are reminded of your dream. Your heart skips. “I can’t believe it! You’re a hairstylist now?”
You laugh meekly, nodding. Your face still burns. Having his eyes on you feels almost unbearable. You wish he would go away, leave you in your head again to remember only the ghost of him still living in your memory. You also wish he would come closer, hold your hand like he used to and push your hair behind your ear when the wind makes it fall into your eyes.
You wish for a lot of things.
“You two know each other?” Seungkwan swivels in his chair to look at Joshua, who only nods enthusiastically.
“We were friends. We went to the same school when I was still in LA.”
So succinct. So brief. How something that means the world to you, something that changed your young mind so profoundly, could be summarized in two sentences. You try not to think about it.
“We have a lot of catching up to do.” His voice breaks you from your thoughts. His smile is still so wide. His eyes are…. gentle. Almost admiring. You realise he is genuinely happy to see you, and something in your chest settles. The nasty voice in your head silences itself. How foolish of you, to think for even a second that someone as sweet and down to earth as Joshua wouldn’t be happy to see you, his dearest friend, after he left LA. He isn’t wired that way. You almost feel ashamed at having doubted him. You nod your affirmation.
“You should have dinner with us after the show. Maybe some drinks too.”
You chuckle a bit. “Ah, yeah. Seokmin offered as well. I guess I will be there.”
He smiles wider, if that is even possible. “Great.”
When he finally walks away from you, you turn your head to meet Seungkwan’s gaze, already trained intently on you. Your neck heats up again.
“Something wrong?”
His eyes narrow just a bit. You get a strange feeling, like you are being prodded. He shakes his head, but the corner of his lip ticks up just slightly.
“No, not at all.” He settles back in his chair, an expression on his face that you can’t quite place.
Ah, fuck.
……………………………………………………………………..
An hour later, Joshua is sitting in a chair, typing something on his phone when you finally step closer to him to get a look at his hair. He turns his phone screen off, giving you a dazzling smile as well as his full attention. You try to smile back, but it comes off more as a grimace than anything friendly. If he notices, he doesn’t let it show. You are grateful for that.
“I didn’t know you left LA.” He comments, and you hum a bit, using a comb to smooth through his hair, trying to focus on your job and not on the fact that you are touching him, or that you can smell his aftershave. It’s flowery and light. It makes you dizzy.
You also try to bite back on the fact that there is no way he could’ve known, considering you hadn’t talked to him properly since he set foot outside the US.
“I’ve been all around.“ You answer, knowing how vague you sound. You can’t think of anything else to say though. You can feel Joshua’s gaze on you, and you wonder if he sees through you.
He used to. He knew you better than anyone else. Now….. now he’s a stranger.
“Weren’t you going to become a lawyer?”
You bark out a shocked laugh at the sudden jibe, mind thrown back into the past. “Oh god, no. I don’t know what I was thinking when I used to say that.”
Joshua chuckles a bit too. “And you were so passionate about it too. Though I’m pretty sure it was just because you thought it would help you win arguments.”
You can’t control your grin. “I was a kid. I still suck at them, by the way.”
“Do you still cry when you get angry?”
You roll your eyes and give him a look. “It’s perfectly normal to cry when you’re angry.”
He nods jokingly, pretending to contemplate. “Sure. Not when you are trying to negotiate prices on the pier though.”
You gape at him, shocked. “How the hell do you remember that?”
Joshua’s mock playfulness leaves his face, replaced by something softer, more melancholic. Your fingers freeze in the dark caramel strands of his hair, soft to touch.
“I remember everything.”
You feel something strong and bitter rise in the back of your throat. Like bile, but burning worse. You remember then, the grief of Joshua leaving. The dragging hurt of waiting for replies to your emails. How his responses would get shorter and shorter every time. How it fizzled over those few painful months. And then….nothing. Like he was never there.
You clear your throat and work in silence, trying to finish up on his hair quicker. You can see from the corner of your eye how his face drops. He doesn’t say anything more. When you’re done, he gives you a tiny smile and a thank you.
He’s a stranger to you once again.
……………………………………………………………………..
The show is spectacular, as expected. You watch as much as you can between giving touch ups as the members come and go from the backstage area. It’s overstimulating and fast paced, nothing you aren’t used to, but enough to get your blood pumping. You missed working shows like this. Despite the history you had with Joshua, you feel okay about taking the job.
The members are all hyped and looking forward to dinner and drinks afterwards. Some staff members go along, including you, and it is an energetic affair. You laugh and talk with other people on the crew, who are all very welcoming and more than happy to regale you with stories of their own. The members eat like a small army, and food disappears faster than you can blink. You are grateful for the amount of people, since it meant you didn’t have to interact one on one with Joshua. It is nearing dawn when everyone starts to slowly scatter to their hotel rooms on the same floor.
Your own hotel room, booked courtesy of the company, is not in the same building, and when you announce that you should head back, Joshua offers to drive you. You can’t really find a reason to say no. He is one of maybe two people who didn’t drink. So your options are limited.
You really don’t want to talk to him. You can’t even place why, exactly. You had missed him, thought about him periodically for so long. He is here now, accessible to you, and yet you want nothing to do with him.
The truth is, your small conversation threw you off. It’s like you had never been apart. He talked to you like he had left just a month ago on a little vacation and now he had come back, catching up on life updates. But the truth is that he has fifteen years worth of updates that he missed. This isn’t a brief pause that he can just ignore, something he was clearly trying to do.
Then again, maybe you are overreacting. It’s not like you two had fought. Things just didn’t work out. It happens. Maybe you are making a big deal out of nothing while he is doing everything to be nice to you.
In any case, you have a lot to figure out. And you can’t do that with Joshua in the driver’s seat, spending a good chunk of time in a confined space with him. The silence is strange and heavy. You close your eyes and lean back in your seat, hoping he just assumes you are tired and doesn’t feel as awkward as you. When the car slows to a stop in front of your building, you give him a little smile as you gather your things.
“Did I upset you earlier?”
You hesitate, movements slowing a bit. Joshua looks worried, but he doesn’t meet your eyes, instead focusing on staring straight ahead. It’s still dark outside. You take a deep breath.
“Not- not really. I was just surprised.”
Now he looks confused, tearing his eyes away from the road to look at you. “Why?”
You blink slowly. “What do you mean, why?”
He doesn’t reply, waiting for you to continue. You aren’t really drunk, but you had a few. Enough to impair the filter between your brain and mouth just a little bit.
”We haven’t spoken in almost fifteen years, Josh.” Your voice sounds more stable than you are expecting. “But suddenly you’re acting like nothing’s wrong. Like you didn’t just…. disappear.”
Guilt washes over his features, and you try not to let it affect you.
“I didn’t mean to….”
You sigh a bit, feeling resigned. “No one ever means to. But I think I deserved a little more than nothing. For the sake of what we had.”
Your eyes meet, and this time, the exchange of looks is weighted, more understanding. Joshua nods.
”You did. I’m sorry.”
You nod slowly. You hadn’t expected such a quick and willing apology. It was almost anticlimactic. Joshua carries on.
“Training was….tough. I almost quit, you know? Multiple times. I stuck it out because of the members, and because I was determined to see it through. I know it isn’t an excuse but- I was overwhelmed and I missed home. I missed you. Talking to you just made it so much worse.”
He lets out a meek laugh, rolling his eyes. His stare is distant as he remembers the past. He runs a frustrated hand through his hair. “It sounds insanely stupid in hindsight.”
You nod. “It does.”
He laughs again, this time a bit stronger. When he looks at you, there’s something sad behind his eyes. You can’t help but mimic it. It’s difficult to put a finger on it. There’s so much you want to say to him, but at the same time, nothing comes to mind. It seems that all along, you had waited to hear just these words from him, a form of explanation, a form of remorse, and he had finally given them to you. There is a sense of finality in this moment. Your lips slowly curl up into a soft smile.
“I understand, I think. I… I don’t know what to say though. I don’t know where we go from here.”
There it is again, that curled smile which makes him look five years younger than he is. In the dim light, he looks unassuming and gentle, almost angelic.
“Maybe you can give me a chance to be your friend again?”
You appraise him a bit before nodding. “I think I can do that.”
……………………………………………………………………..
Some parts of Joshua are exactly the same.
He is still snarky and mischievous under his gentle exterior. Of course, it’s more than just an exterior. He is a genuinely kind person. But you two were great friends before because he was such a wonderful mix of caring and annoying. You loved teasing him and he loved teasing you back. It seems those parts of him haven’t changed at all. When you observe him with his members, you can see how he thrives off their energy. He is especially a pain in the ass to Mingyu, who loves to dish it right back.
And then there are parts of him that are so new it almost catches you off guard. He is a lot more mature now. And more perceptive too. He has a little bit of a flirty thing going on now, and it often leaves you blushing and stuttering, unable to reply.
God, you really should have become a lawyer.
Four shows into the tour and in your second city by now, you have grown fairly comfortable in your job. With Joshua acting as a bridge, you get integrated into the team very easily. Almost everyone is curious about you and Joshua when he was still living in LA. None more so than Seungkwan, who seems to have taken a particular interest in you two ever since you met on the first day. You’re not very thrilled by it, since he isn’t exactly subtle about it either.
“Have you considered working outside the US?”
You hum as you pull his hair down over his forehead, trying to go for more of a messy look today. “Not really. Why do you ask?”
“You could come to Korea with us.”
You laugh and shake your head. “I can’t just leave the country on a whim.”
“It wouldn’t be a whim though. You would have a job.”
You give him a questioning look now, pausing your ministrations for a second. “Where exactly are you going with this?”
He shrugs, pouting playfully for a bit. “I’m just saying. It doesn’t have to end after this leg of the tour, you know?”
His stare is meaningful. Very briefly, his eyes flick towards Joshua on your left. It’s so subtle that you wouldn’t catch it if you hadn’t been looking so intently. Realisation dawns on you and you gulp.
“Nothing will end. Because nothing is going on.” You give him a pointed look, going back to his hair.
“That’s what I’m saying. Something could.”
You sigh painfully. “Seungkwan-”
“He likes you.” Seungkwan interrupts. “Maybe you don’t see it, but I do. Joshua puts a lot of effort in for the people he cares about. And he’s making a hell of an effort to fix things with you.”
“That’s because I was his friend.”
He gives you a blank look but doesn’t say anything more. You try to ignore his words, but when your eyes flick towards the man in question, you can’t help but wonder if there is any ounce of truth behind them.
……………………………………………………………………..
“I was thinking of getting a haircut before the next show.”
You give Joshua a surprised look, placing your drink on the table. It’s show number six of eight total, and the members had scattered to explore the city. You had been in your hotel room when Joshua called, asking you to come down so you could have a drink with him. The bar you end up in is small and cozy, barely crowded since it’s a weekday, which is for the best. You lean back in the booth to get a better look at Joshua sitting next to you.
“What are you thinking?” You ask.
A thoughtful hum follows. “I’m not sure. Just something different. It’s getting a bit long and it irritates my neck.”
“Do you wanna dye it?”
He winces. “Not really. The damage takes forever to recover from.”
You think about his face shape, wondering what to do with his hair that might look good on him. Unconsciously, your hand reaches up to his head, fingers threading through the strands and pulling them upwards a bit, just to check exactly how long the hair is. Joshua just watches you. You blink when you notice the hint of smile on his face, pulling your hand back with a sudden jerk.
“Sorry!” You squeak out, feeling embarrassment crawl up your chest. “Force of habit.”
Joshua laughs. “It’s fine. You’ve done worse things around me.”
You gape at him. “Have not!”
He gives you a look, and you know what he is about to say before he even speaks. “You once peed while my back was turned to you.”
“Shut up!” You screech out, burying your face in your hands as Joshua laughs boisterously. You look around the bar, anywhere that isn’t him, trying to pat down the heat rising in your cheeks.
“That doesn’t count, by the way.”
Joshua blinks, mirth still dancing in his eyes. “And why not?”
“Because that was the old you.”
His eyes are wide with surprise and amusement now. His left hand swivels his glass, the liquid floating around in it. He leans his head on the other hand, elbow on the table. “I haven’t changed.”
“Yes, you have.” You immediately counter, downing the last of your own drink. “You’re all cool and suave now.”
He laughs again, uninhibited and bright. You grin at him, enamored by the way he throws his head back and how toothy his grin is. Liquid courage takes a hold of you.
“You know,” you lean in conspiratorially and Joshua follows your lead, playing along. “I used to have a crush on you.”
His eyebrows shoot up. “You did?”
You hum the affirmative, face still close to his, like you are telling him a long held secret. It kind of is one.
The lights in the bar are dim, but you can see the glint in Joshua’s eyes clearly. “And now?”
You pretend to think about it. You are feeling playful as well. It’s so easy to feed off his energy. It reminds you of your childhood. He’s a lot bolder now, but he used to be just as cheeky. His flowery scent enters your nose again in this proximity. You feel that all too familiar heat on the back of your neck. A frequent occurrence now, ever since Joshua has stepped back into your life. You wouldn’t change it, not even for a second.
“Jury’s still out.”
Joshua’s smile softens a bit. “I’ll take it.”
……………………………………………………………………..
It’s very fitting, for the last show of this leg of the tour to be in LA.
In the days leading up to the last two shows, you wonder about the future. While it is unpredictable, there are some well established facts you need to come to terms with. Joshua would leave for Korea right after, rest for a bit, and then the next leg of the tour would kick off. Your contract would end, and you would rest as well before you find your next gig. The thought of it feels like a lead weight in your stomach, and you are reminded acutely of the time when Joshua had told you about him leaving fifteen years ago.
“Pledis?” Your voice had been suspicious. “I’ve never heard of them. Are you sure you aren’t getting scammed?”
He had laughed. “I’m sure. They are legit, and they are eager to have me.”
“I don’t know, Josh…”
It’s the same apprehension but now under different circumstances.
Briefly, you remember Seungkwan’s offer. You don’t know how serious he was, but you entertain the thought for a brief moment. It doesn’t last, though. It’s ridiculous. The teenage you would have jumped at the chance to follow Joshua to the other side of the world, but that was naïveté. While you and him are riding the line between platonic and romantic, it hasn't gone anywhere. You couldn’t pick up everything and run off with him. It just wasn’t realistic.
The LA air seems to change something in Joshua. It’s a fairytale notion, but you swear you can see him bloom in the city. It’s nostalgic for him, you know this, and this stop means the most to him considering this is where his roots are. You bask in his glow, reminded of your own childhood with him by your side. You had spent countless weekends hanging around Santa Monica with your friends, putting together your very little money to eat and enjoy yourselves. Now here as an adult, standing in a stadium is a monumental milestone for Joshua, and you can’t believe you get to share in it with him.
The last show is even more emotionally charged for both you and him, but for entirely different reasons. You remember the days leading up to Joshua’s flight back then. You had insisted you spend every waking moment with him. Now, you are watching him close out the show to uproarious applause.
Life has changed so much. But your feelings remain the same. You had told yourself at fifteen, that you would confess to Joshua when he came back, stupidly believing that he would come back at some point. You’re a grown woman now, and you still know you will chicken out. You won’t tell him how you feel, you know this. He will leave again, this time for who knows how long, and maybe your paths won’t cross. Maybe they will, for another brief stint in time, before returning to the way they had been for so many stale years.
Maybe that’s how fate intends you to love Joshua. Little by little. In scraps. In fleeting moments of happiness before his busy life sweeps him up again. Maybe you should accept that this is how it’s meant to be.
After all, a little love is better than none.
Drinks are flowing heavily as the group celebrates the end of a very successful leg of their tour. Your staff members insist on farewell drinks for you, and before you know it, you have downed shot after shot with them, talking and laughing your hearts out. You had formed somewhat of a family here with these people, and you would miss them all terribly. Having temporary jobs is always a bummer when it comes to goodbyes. The whole experience is bittersweet.
You are reminded of your first night when you stand up and announce that you will be heading out. Especially when Joshua stands up right after.
“I’ll drive you.”
You snort. “I’m booked in this hotel too, dumbass. I just have to go down one floor.”
Joshua pouts at the smattering of laughs at your comment. You grin at him.
“Also, you’re drunk as fuck.”
He nods as if he has come to an important, life-changing decision after contemplating a little bit. “I’ll walk you, then.”
Not even five minutes later, you are struggling to get your door open. Behind you, Joshua sways a bit.
“How much did you drink?”
He giggles. “I’m just a little tipsy.”
You roll your eyes. He clearly is way more than just tipsy. You can’t judge him though. Because you are in a similar situation.
You turn to face him when the door behind you finally squeaks open. His eyes are foggy but they focus on you regardless. He still has makeup on from the show, though it’s slightly smudgy now. His hair is still in place from the hairspray. You make a face at it and reach out to tug a stiff strand.
“I hate putting hairspray on your head.” You slur. “Your hair is so soft and nice.”
Joshua hums a bit, leaning against the door frame and letting you play with his hair. “Then get it out.”
In your drunken haze, you pull him into the room, and before you know it, you’ve ducked his head under the sink of the bathroom to wet his hair. Not the best way to do it but neither of you care at this point. Not only are your inhibitions dampened, you also know you are doing all this just to keep him here for a little longer. To be close to him just a bit more. His flight is tomorrow morning. This is the last time you will see him, and you are not ready to say goodbye.
You have a multitude of products with you that you lather into his hair. He doesn’t seem to mind that you are ruining his T-shirt. He is compliant, sitting obediently on the closed toilet lid as you work your fingers gently through the styled pieces of his hair. He hums a bit when you press on his scalp, eyes fluttering. You scold him to keep them closed so they don’t get irritated by the chemicals.
By the time you’ve made him rinse off in the sink again, his clothed shoulders are all wet. His hair is dripping all over the bathroom floor. Droplets of water roll down the sides of his face and down his neck. A silver chain glitters against his skin there, disappearing under the collar of his shirt. His eyes are barely open, narrowed to slits. You crane your neck up to look at him, the scent of shampoo dense in your nose.
“Towel.” You mutter. He needs it. It’s too cold to be this wet. He could get sick.
Neither of you move to get a towel though.
This close to him, you can see the sprinkled pattern of freckles over his neck. His lips part and your eyes shoot down to them immediately. You’ve always loved his lips, weird as that sounds. Always wondered what they would feel like against your own. You don’t have to wonder long, because he leans down the next second, pressing them softly into yours.
There’s hesitation behind his actions, but you affirm him by pushing up a bit, fitting your lips into his harder. His hands brush against your sides and yours grip tight at the wet collar of his shirt. It is close mouthed and chaste, but it lights a fire in you, settling in your chest as a condensed warmth. A single droplet of water hits your cheek.
A decade and a half long anticipated kiss.
You nip a little on his bottom lip, hearing how his breath gets strangled in his throat. He squeezes at your sides. His lips part. His tongue moves languidly against yours, head tilted to get better access. You sigh into him, trying to feel as much of him as you can. The planes of his chest are firm, his shoulders are broad. Your fingers travel up his neck to his jaw, to his ear. You tug on the tiny silver ring wrapped around the helix, and he curses softly in your mouth.
“We should stop.” He gasps out, but his hands are tugging on the hem of your shirt, slipping under it to run across your bare skin. You moan at the feeling, offended by the clothes between you two now. You grip his wet hair a bit harshly, pull at it just a bit, and his reaction is instant. He groans loud and low, pushing into you until you are stumbling back. Blindly, you two shuffle out of the bathroom and towards the bed, not separating for one minute, planting a slew of messy kisses over each other’s lips. Your shaky hands fall to the button of his jeans, which you pop open, flying up under his shirt and pushing it up to his chest until he gets the hint and tugs it off. You stare at his bare torso, fingers exploring the newly exposed skin. He nips at the lobe of your ear, brushing soft kisses over your neck and jaw.
His hands are toying with the hem of your jeans, thumbs hooking into the belt loops to tug your hips closer. You feel his erection on your lower stomach, hard and insistent, and it nearly leaves you dizzy.
“Josh-” You manage to gasp out. He bites softly into the skin just below your ear and hums into it. Your eyes roll.
A flurry of hands leaves you shirtless soon, fingers tugging on the hook of your bra until the clasp is undone, discarding it as well. Joshua’s body doesn’t stay far from yours. He falls onto the bed with you, his weight insistent and reassuring on top of you. When he grinds against the heat between your parted legs, you feel electricity zip through you, back arching into him. You can feel how wet you are already, how you clench around nothing. There’s too many layers between you two.
You feel his hand unzip your jeans and slip between your thighs to where you need him the most. You can hear his intake of breath right next to your ear when his fingers make contact with the soaked cloth of your panties.
“I haven’t done anything yet, baby.”
You keen at the use of the pet name, and Joshua sighs into your neck, attaching his teeth to the skin and sucking hard. Your hips jerk. His index finger presses the fabric harshly against your clit and you cry out at the sensation.
“Stop teasing.” You whine, one hand reaching down to wrap around his wrist. His teeth release your skin so his tongue can run over the area, and you are sure you will have an angry mark there in the morning. You can’t care less.
“That doesn’t sound like me at all.” You can practically hear the smirk in his voice.
Regardless, your panties are being pushed aside, careful fingers now running up through your slit until they reach your nub. His thumb rubs a few harsh circles into you, and you gasp again.
Joshua is unpredictable, alternating between soft and rough, keeping you on your toes, figuratively. In reality, you are moaning and crying into his shoulder, hips chasing his touch with every flick of his wrist, until he finally takes mercy on you and sinks his middle and ring finger into your aching pussy. His thumb is still insistent, never once stopping its ministrations. His lips never stop moving, digging into any piece of you he can get between his teeth, a handful of kisses and licks all over your neck and chest. When the pads of his fingers finally hit your sweet spot, you nearly sob.
He quickly becomes relentless in his movements, rubbing, dragging, in and out, until you feel like you are on the brink of insanity. You can’t make sense of your own words, and you are sure it is all mindless babble, but Joshua seems to bask in it, encouraging you on until your back is arching impossibly deep, orgasm hitting you like a freight train. Your legs jerk and pulse in the air, framing his waist as he coaxes you through your high, whispering sweet praises in your ear, a stark contrast to the fire he had lit in your body. When your eyes blink open again, you are met with a glinting, lustful gaze and a soft smirk.
You wipe it right off by pressing your lips harshly into his. He hums in approval, allowing your scrambling hands to push his jeans and boxers down and off his legs along with your own. His cock drags through the mess between your legs and he curses. You buck up into him.
“You’re sure about this?” His voice is raspy. He sounds as wrecked as you feel.
You nod and wrap your legs around his hips to pull him closer, but Joshua pulls his lips away from yours instead.
“I need you to say it. I can’t mess this up with you.”
You pause, blinking up at him, startled at his words. He is a vision in the dim light, swollen lips, smudged mascara, messy wet hair and all. He looks beautiful.
“You could never mess up with me.”
His smile is tinged with something bitter. “I already did once.”
You can’t help the playful smirk you give him in response. “And yet here we are.”
He does chuckle at that, forehead leaning against yours. You give him a soft smile, running a hand through his hair. This time in a different context, a different feeling.
“I’ve never wanted anything more than you in this moment.”
His face instantly relaxes, and his lips are on yours again. You sigh into his mouth, and you can feel something hard poke insistently at you, followed by a jerk of Joshua’s hips that finally breaches you, carving through your insides as you throw your head back. He is big, and impossibly hard, and he brushes over parts you didn’t even know you had. By the time he bottoms out, you are trembling in his hold, breaths coming in choppy gasps as he starts moving, slow at first and gradually picking up speed.
Joshua lifts himself off you, supporting his weight on his hands. Your watery gaze meets his and he bites his lip hard.
“Look at you, fuck.” He thrusts especially hard, making you cry out. “Wish you could see yourself, angel. So pretty for me.”
”Joshua.” You drag out the last syllable of his name, feeling your toes curl as he keeps going. He thrusts particularly deep and then suddenly stills in you, so you can feel every inch of him. Your jaw goes slack.
“What do you want?”
His lips are a ghost touch over your cheek. He grinds slowly, his pelvis brushing your clit, adding to the assault of sensations you are already experiencing. You feel a tear roll down your face and disappear into your hairline.
You whine. “You.”
His lips curl upward. “You have me.”
He grinds again. You sob.
“Please.” Your voice is thin, on the verge of breaking. “Need you to move. Need to feel you. I can’t, I can’t, I can’t-”
Then he is shushing you, and his hips are moving again, harder and faster until stars are bursting in your vision as you come again. You barely register when Joshua stiffens and buries himself deep in you, warmth flooding your insides as he pants and groans through his own release. Your entire body feels muted and numb, like someone had stuffed cotton in your head. You blink lazily, pressing a kiss into Joshua’s sweaty forehead.
He turns to look at you in response, and you can see the sluggishness in the depth of his eyes. A small smile plays at his lips. He looks at peace. You hope your face looks just as blissful to him. Tiredness tugs at your limbs.
You don’t remember falling asleep.
……………………………………………………………………..
Giggling. The slap of footsteps on pavement. The brush of a hand. Brown, doe-like eyes.
The sun is high in the sky when you wake up with a start the next morning. You stare at the window and the harsh light infiltrating through it, trying to shake the image from your dreams. When you shift under the covers, feeling them brush over your bare skin, you discover that you are naked. The events of the previous night come rushing back.
You turn to stare at the bed behind you. Empty. You sit up and look at the window again. Long shadows are casted by the sun over your room. It is easily past noon.
No.
He couldn’t have left. He couldn’t have. Not like this. Not after last night.
I can’t mess this up with you.
Something burns behind your eyes, and you try not to focus on how hard your heart is hammering. Your legs feel sore, but you push past it and move off the bed, ignoring your discarded clothes from the night before on the floor to walk to the wardrobe where you had temporarily stored your stuff. You tug on the nearest T-shirt you can find along with sweatpants. Your focus is to be out the door as quickly as you can. You know their flight has left, but you need to see with your own eyes if their hotel rooms are cleared out. It was the only way to accept what had happened.
You bite the inside of your lip, willing yourself not to cry. You can’t believe it, genuinely cannot imagine that Joshua would sleep with you and leave the next day. It is a whole new low. You want to beat yourself up for trusting him, but your heart screams the opposite. You are reeling, still unable to believe what has happened.
You hear the door behind you open, jolting you from your thoughts. You spin around, eyes widening at the sight before you.
Joshua blinks at you in confusion, staring at your shirt clad figure, holding a pair of pants in your hands.
“What are you doing out of bed?” He asks, moving closer to you after shutting the door. “Don’t you have a hangover? You should lay down.”
You flinch back when he reaches for you, and his face twists at the action. You can see hurt flit past his eyes.
“What’s wrong?”
“You-” Your mind races. “Your flight….”
He nods slowly. “I canceled this morning.”
Feeling returns to your legs again, processing his words. Your hand drops, and you let the pants fall to the floor. Your relief is so great that it makes you feel lightheaded. When you look up at Joshua again, his face has settled into a sad realization.
“You thought I left.” He states, voice small. You don’t say anything.
“You thought I-” His laugh is sharp, bitter. Something clenches at your chest. “You really think I would do that?”
You immediately shake your head. “No. No, I would never. I just…. panicked.”
Joshua heaves out a sigh, running a hand through his hair. A flowery smell hits your nose. You discern that he probably just stepped out to go shower and change. You almost kick yourself.
“I’m sorry.”
Joshua has the grace to crack a small smile, taking your forearm and leading you to the bed so you can sit. You notice a tall glass of water on the bedside table, as well as two round pills. Probably painkillers. Your heart squeezes. You hadn’t noticed them in your stressed condition. He picks them up and offers them to you, and you take them with a grateful smile.
“I don’t blame you. I don’t exactly have the best track record.”
You shake your head. “Nah, don’t blame yourself for this. These are my issues.”
He flops down next to you, leaning back on his hands. You down the water and place the glass back, turning to look at him. He’s already staring at you. You feel shyness creep up on you.
Joshua’s hand reaches up to brush over the skin of your neck, and you realize that he is tracing the scattered marks he had left there last night. Your face burns, but you have no time to react before he is kissing you, so soft you barely feel it, but you lean in regardless. You sigh into it, wishing it would go one forever, this fluttering feeling in your chest, telling you that everything is fine.
When Joshua pulls away, you can’t help but pout, eyes still closed, mentally willing him to come back. He laughs a bit, a melody to your ears, and you can’t help when your own lips perk up at the sound.
“So you’re not leaving?” You ask, letting him continue brushing his fingers over your neck and cheeks. Goosebumps rise on your arms.
“Not right now. But at some point, yes.” He looks up to meet your eyes. “I couldn’t leave us like this though. Not this time.”
His eyes catch the sunlight, small flecks of gold dancing in the deep, rich caramel. He reminds you of Bambi sometimes, when his lips tick up like this and his eyes turn into the shape of almonds. You wonder if he knows how beautiful you find him, bathed in golden light and looking at you like you hung the moon and stars. There’s a rush of emotions, and you feel like you’ve stepped into gently swishing water, lapping over your skin and enveloping you in a cool tranquility you have never experienced before.
You lean in, letting your head fall to his shoulder. “Good.”

for the next five days, you would wake up to the sound of waves crashing softly outside your window and the scent of warm pastries already drifting in from the kitchen.
it’s your birthday week, and joshua insisted on whisking you away—somewhere private, cozy, sun-drenched. the kind of place where time slows down and mornings start with sleepy kisses and shared coffee on the balcony. each day has its own little adventure. joshua doesn’t overload the schedule, he knows you too well for that. instead, he’s curated moments—quiet, intentional ones.
day one is exploring a hidden beach he found months ago, the two of you building little towers from driftwood and shell fragments. that night, he gives you the first bracelet. it’s made of woven cord and tiny beads, and on it is a date—the day you met.
“i remember everything you said that day,” he tells you quietly, brushing sand from your knee. “i knew you were the one.”
day two is filled with laughter at a local artisan market. he buys you snacks from every stall you glance at for more than five seconds, and you both get henna tattoos for no real reason other than why not?. later, when you’re back in the villa, he brings out another bracelet. this one has a string of characters: 2 0 2 1.
“that was the year that i asked you to be mine,” he says, threading it gently around your wrist. “still the best decision i ever made.”
day three, he drags you to a pottery class. it’s a mess. joshua’s clay bowl collapses into itself with a dramatic flop and you laugh so hard you almost fall off your stool. he pouts, dramatic as ever, but when you finally get your wobbly creations back to the villa, he asks you to check inside the pot you made, and there it was, the third bracelet:
this one simply reads: lovey. your favorite nickname for him.
“because you say it with that tone that makes me feel like the softest version of myself,” he says, resting his forehead against yours.
day four is calmer. a boat ride at golden hour, your hand resting over his on the railing as the wind tangles through your hair. there’s no rush, no noise. just the two of you, floating along the water while the sky shifts into warm hues of orange and pink. as the boat drifts, he pulls out his guitar, strumming softly.
the sound of the strings, delicate and intimate, fills the quiet air, and you find yourself leaning closer, your head resting against his shoulder. joshua plays a few songs for you, some soft melodies you’ve never heard before, others familiar tunes he’s played just for you on nights when you both stayed up too late. each note feels like a thread weaving your hearts tighter together as the sun slowly sinks behind the horizon.
that night, after dinner, he gives you a bracelet with your initials. simple. classic. still enough to make your heart flutter.
and finally—the night before your birthday.
you think the surprise is the private chef joshua hired for the night, who’s currently serving you perfectly grilled steak and pouring deep red wine into your glass. the lights are dim, the candles flickering, and joshua’s wearing your favorite cologne. the setting is straight out of a movie.
but he pauses before dessert. “wait,” he says, slipping away for a second. when he returns, he’s holding a small, velvet-lined tray with a single bracelet resting in the middle. it’s similar to the others, handmade by him, soft threads twisted together with care. but this one says:
marry ♡ me?
the question is spaced by a tiny heart charm, delicate and golden.
your eyes lift to his—wide and glimmering, the candlelight catching in them like tiny stars. your breath catches. the rest of the room fades.
it’s not just the bracelet. it’s what it means. what he means. every little moment leading up to this—every inside joke, every early morning coffee, every soft look across a crowded room—they all rush back in like a wave crashing at once. and suddenly, it all makes sense. you’re still holding the bracelet in your hand like it’s fragile, sacred. like it holds your whole history woven between the threads.
as you take the bracelet from him, your fingers brushing against his, joshua looks at you—eyes full of something deep, something tender. there’s a quiet longing in the way his gaze lingers, like he’s been waiting for this moment all along, holding onto something bigger than just a question. it’s not the kind of look that just says “i love you”—it’s the kind of look that speaks to a lifetime. you feel your chest tighten at the weight of it, the tenderness of the unspoken words hanging in the air.
he watches you carefully as you fasten the bracelet around your wrist, his fingers lingering just a little too long when they touch yours. his smile is soft, almost wistful, and there’s a faint glimmer of vulnerability in his eyes, like he’s holding back, like he’s been waiting to ask you this for longer than either of you realize.
“it’s not a ring just yet,” he says softly, voice a little shaky, “not until you say yes.”
his gaze doesn’t waver from you, filled with the quiet ache of someone who’s ready to give everything, just waiting for you to take that step with him. your chest tightens, and your eyes blur. your heart—god, your heart is racing in the best possible way.
he reaches into his pocket and pulls out the actual ring box—simple, elegant, shining just like his smile when he kneels in front of you.
your hands fly to your mouth before you even realize it, lips trembling as your tears fall freely, but there’s no panic behind them. no hesitation. only something so sure it feels like gravity itself.
he’s kneeling, waiting. but not with fear in his eyes—just love. the soft, steady kind that’s always made you feel like you could finally breathe. you lower your hands, heart thudding like a drumbeat under your ribs, and blink away just enough tears to really look at him. and you say it—like it’s the only answer that’s ever made sense.
“yes,” you breathe, voice cracking from the tears. then again, louder. firmer. lighter. “yes, joshua. of course i’m saying yes.” you’re already nodding before you can stop yourself, laughing through your sobs, reaching for him because you just need to feel him. need to hold him. need him to know you mean it with everything in you.
his watery grin breaks into something helpless and radiant, and he stands up to wrap you in his arms, holding you like the world could fall apart and he’d still be okay as long as you’re here. you bury your face into his shoulder, clutching his shirt like it’s the only thing keeping you from floating off into the stars.
you feel him slip the ring onto your finger with trembling hands, and it fits perfectly. and you whisper one more time, right against his ear, like a secret you’ve been carrying for years: “i’ve always known it was you.”
later that night, after the excitement, after the tears, after the thousand kisses and the way he tucked your hand in his like it was meant to be there forever—you sit out on the deck, gazing fondly at the stars and the shoreline below.
joshua steps out onto the deck, “ooh, careful, my love. hot, hot. hot!” a bowl of steaming hot ramen he carefully brought over to you.
his secret recipe. the one he made you on your third date, when it rained and every restaurant was closed. it’s not what someone would call fancy, not even close to the meal you just had—but it tastes like home. like all your shared laughter and late nights and whispered dreams rolled into one warm, savory bowl. a tradition at this point.
“still your favorite, right?” he murmurs, resting his head on your shoulder. you nod, tasting the broth, bringing the bowl down onto your lap, and nudging his side. “always.”
you’re curled up beside him on the wooden deck, barefoot and wrapped in the cardigan he swore you stole from him years ago (well, you never denied it). your legs are tucked under you, the bowl of ramen resting between the two of you. and even after everything—the private chef, the wine, the whole trip—this is the part of the night joshua loves most.
you, with sleepy eyes and ramen broth on your lip. you, still giggling every few seconds like you’re not sure this is real.
you’re his fiancée.
his heart thumps all over again.
he watches you sip from the bowl, humming quietly in approval. and that’s when it really hits him—not in the grand gestures or the spotlighted proposal—but here, in this tiny, tender moment. when you’re completely at ease, barefoot and glowing under the soft moonlight, still wearing every bracelet he made you like you just came out of a taylor swift concert.
oh, how he loves you. his deepest affections braided into every thread.
not in the fleeting, dizzying way he used to think love had to be. not like the songs that burn out by the third chorus. this is something else. something rooted and warm. love, to him, is you in this exact moment—humming with ramen in your mouth and one sock missing.
he can see it all in his head now, clearer than ever: mornings with your bedhead and grumpy pout, years from now. road trips where you fight over playlists and still end up singing together at the top of your lungs. anniversaries where you both forget the date and end up laughing on the couch with takeout. matching mugs. matching rings. the soft click of your shared key turning in the door
he thinks about how you always reach for his hand in your sleep, how you trace little hearts on his palm when you’re nervous, how your nose scrunches every time you tell a lie (you’re a terrible liar, by the way), how you say his name like it means something softer than just syllables.
he leans over, brushing a strand of hair behind your ear. “you’re really gonna marry me?” he asks, half-whisper, almost like he’s checking.
you glance at him, wide-eyed, soft smile tugging at the corners of your mouth. “mm... i think i already did. haven’t we been married this whole time? maybe only i knew, though.” you huff proudly, flashing him a cheeky grin.
he laughs, breathless. the kind of laugh that comes from deep in his chest, where he’s been holding everything in since he met you.
she’s gonna be mine forever, he thinks. i get to love her for the rest of my life.
and he swears, in that moment, he’ll never take it for granted. not one second. not one sleepy morning or late night argument or grocery store trip or forehead kiss. he’ll love you through all of it—your quiet, your chaos, your every version. he’ll love you even when you leave your mug in every room of the house, even when you steal all the blankets, and even when you forget to charge your phone and panic about it three times a week. he’ll love you through the ordinary, and make it feel like magic.
because you’re it. his home. his heart.
and tonight, under the stars and surrounded by the bracelets you now wear like a timeline, joshua knows—there’s no version of forever he wants without you in it.

joshua pulls a fresh tray of heart-shaped cookies from the oven, moving behind you to set them down. the oven door clicks when you open it again a second later to slide another batch in, turning to see the way he snags one off of a plate (already cooked, thankfully) with a cheeky grin. he can get one: it's roommate privilege. besides, all of these are just for your friends. you'll ice them, bag them, and then he'll pretend to be annoyed at the idea of helping you deliver them while carrying your bag like the gentleman he insists on being.
"careful, hong," you hum, moving to smush the rest of the dough back into a ball to roll out again. "keep looking at me like that, and i'm gonna start thinking you might be in love with me."
"wouldn't want that, would we?" he sits at the counter, watching you work. there's a burst of vanilla on his tongue as he takes a bite, and he pretends he's not falling a little further in love with you as he watches you work. you're just two single roommates on valentine's day, baking heart-shaped cookies together for your friend. he just smiles to himself as he watches you throw yourself into this.
"i think it'd be an honor, actually," you say to yourself, "god knows you treat me better than my ex-boyfriends."
"careful," he says, pointing the end of his half-eaten cookie at you. "or i'm going to think that you're in love with me."
for a moment, you meet his eyes with this playful smile. but neither of you speak. you just roll your eyes a second later, call him a dork, and carefully roll out the remainder of the cookie dough. all he can do is just smile at you, admiring you a little further.
are you? he almost wants to ask. to challenge you in that cute way you challenge him over the silliest things sometime. but he doesn't: not now.
if joshua is going to confess to you sometime soon, he is not doing to be a cliche and do it on valentine's day. after midnight, though... that'll be fair game.
(if you don't beat him to it, first, that is.)

I don't make requests usually(like I never do 😣)
But I was wondering if you could do a Joshua x Reader where they're in a fairly new relationship
and Reader was staying at Joshua's apartment when there's a thunderstorm and Reader's scared of thunder and maybe has a small panic attack
(but if you're not comfortable writing that, than you can leave it out ^•^)
And, of course, Joshua comforts her? :3
(this is loosely inspired by the one time I had a panic attack because of a thunderstorm a few years back 😞)
hopefully this isn't too difficult 😣🙌
(why am I enjoying changing the text colors 😭 sorry if it bothers you 😞)

Thunderstorm|| Hong Joshua
Notes: we love a good fluff hehe hope you enjoy :)
The sound of thunder booms outside, causing you to jump in Joshua's arms. His gentle hands rub soothing circles on your back as he holds you close.
"Shh, it's just thunder," he murmurs softly, his warm breath tickling your ear. "I've got you, baby." Joshua pulls the blanket tighter around both of you, creating a cozy cocoon. His presence is calm and steady, a stark contrast to the storm raging outside.
"Tell me about your favorite moment we had together," he prompts gently, wanting to distract you from the noise. "I love hearing about your happy memories." His voice is soft and sweet, like honey in your ears. Joshua presses a tender kiss to your temple as another flash of lightning illuminates the room.
"I remember that picnic we had by the lake," you whisper, your voice trembling slightly as thunder rolls again. "The way the sunlight hit your face..." Joshua smiles at the memory, his fingers gently tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. "That day was perfect," he agrees. "You looked so beautiful with flowers in your hair."
He starts humming softly, a familiar tune that instantly calms your racing heart. "Close your eyes and picture it again," he suggests quietly. "Focus on the good memories, not the storm." As you focus on the happy memory, Joshua's humming continues. The storm fades into the background as you remember that perfect day together.
"Remember how we fed each other strawberries?" he asks with a gentle laugh. "And how you got jealous when that squirrel stole one from me?" His arms tighten around you protectively as another flash of lightning illuminates the room. "You're my favorite memory, Y-N," he whispers, pressing his forehead against yours.
"Even on the days when the storms come, I'll always be here to hold you," he promises sincerely. "You're my precious little sunshine."
"You're my precious sunshine too, Joshua," you say softly, your fear slowly dissipating in his comforting embrace. "Thank you for always making me feel safe." Joshua kisses your forehead tenderly, his lips lingering there for a moment. "That's my job," he whispers. "To make sure my sunshine always has a safe place to return to."
The storm continues outside, but inside the room, all that matters is the warmth and love shared between you both. Joshua holds you close until you finally drift off to sleep, lulled by his steady heartbeat and protective presence. As you fall asleep in his arms, Joshua's smile widens with contentment. He watches over you lovingly, gently stroking your hair as the storm rages on.
"Sweet dreams, my love," he whispers, pressing one last soft kiss to your temple. "I'll be right here when you wake up." The storm continues to roar outside, but inside the cocoon of blankets and warmth, peace has settled between you both. Joshua's heart swells with love and protectiveness as he holds his precious little sunshine close through the night.

- arm wrestle!

not proofread, thrown together in five minutes after seeing the clip of joshua at a fan sign smirking while arm wrestling a fan and me feeling bad about not posting for like two months
“give me your hand babe” you mumbled, sitting up from your place on the couch.
today was a pretty slow day for you and joshua. neither of you had the energy to go out to do some activity but you were both incredibly bored sitting around on the couch all day.
joshua raised an eyebrow in curiosity but gave you his hand regardless. with your other hand, you pulled the small table closer to you so you could both rest your elbows on it.
“what’re we doing love?” joshua eyed you curiously.
“arm wrestle” you answered flatly. “1 2 3.. go!”
joshua’s arm remained still for a few seconds before he processed what was happening.
despite him being caught off guard and putting little to no effort to stop you, you still couldn’t get his arm too budge while you were exerting most of your strength.
your boyfriend smirked a little but his eyes remained fond before he helped you a little by moving his arm on his own.
being the annoying boyfriend he is though, joshua wasn’t going to let you off without teasing you and making it seem like he was about to win.
he entertained it for a minute or two more before giving up and letting your arm pin his down.
“you won!” joshua gasped and cheered for you, laughing at the sour expression on your face. “what’s with that look?”
“you’re so annoying” you huffed jokingly, going back to your original position next to him.
“you love me”
“i guess”

a/n: i’ve experienced extreme joshua brainrot lately then did an extreme deep dive of jarms (joshua arms) until 2 in the morning. i am unwell and need him like a fish needs water
joshua pushes the shopping cart that holds groceries, and your daughter in the front of the basket, down the aisle. you trail a step or two behind them, mind a bit foggy and… distracted. you don’t know what it is, he’s just wearing a plain, white tshirt and blue jeans—he’s worn it before—and you’re running errands together like you always do. but today is different, and you can’t seem to comprehend a single thing going on around you, or really look at your husband without feeling mild insanity.
first, you’d wandered into the store in a daze, forgetting that joshua was grabbing the shopping cart with your daughter, after having sat in the front seat watching him drive for twenty minutes. his hand sat steady at ten and two, ever the safe driver when your daughter was present, though at stop lights he would sometimes grab your hand or settle his palm on your leg. you felt lost since the morning, woke up with your mind cloudy and your brain foggy just at the mere sight of him.
then, you couldn’t remember a single thing on your grocery list. in your clouded state, you must’ve forgotten the list in the kitchen; it wasn’t a big deal, except for the fact that you literally couldn’t think about a single thing that you needed to buy, and you are usually the one leading the pack around the store. so the three of you have been wandering around the grocery store for longer than you want to be, circling back to the same aisles you’ve already been on because you can’t remember what it is you need to buy.
now you’re back in the dairy aisle, unsure of why you’re back because youve already grabbed milk and cream cheese, so you’re just standing in front of the cold, double doors without a single thought in your head. “yogurt, maybe?” joshua tries, pausing his conversation with your child to help you out. you blink once, twice before mumbling out a ‘right’ and pulling the doors open and grabbing a container.
“mommy, that’s not the right one!” your daughter whines when you drop it in the basket. she’s frowning at you, eyebrows crinkled the same way joshua’s do. god. you make the mistake of looking up at him, and your entire body flushes you meet his gaze. his eyes are soft but questioning, asking if you if you’re alright without actually saying it. no, i’m not, you think to yourself, discreetly sweeping your hand up your neck to check your pulse. it’s fast, and you’re definitely still alive.
joshua watches you with mild concern; he’s noticed your strange, avoidant behavior since this morning when he got back from the gym. you had looked almost surprised when he walked into your bedroom, like you weren’t expecting him back. your eyes widened, and your lips parted like you were going to say something but nothing came out. he beat you to words, anyway, giving you a soft ‘good morning’ that made you blush—he’d ignored it because you seemed… off—and kissed you on the lips. he thought he really smelled with the way you rushed your lips off of his and rolled out of bed, nearly tripping over your own feet. joshua grabbed you so you wouldn’t fall, and he felt you tense in his hold, a frown etching on his features. he brushed it off and asked if you wanted to shower with him, expecting a ‘yes’ from the look that flashed through your eyes, but you instead mumbled something about having to make breakfast before hurrying out of the bedroom all together. you basically avoided him all day since then, never really looking at him or talking to him directly—none of which you do on a constant basis.
the yogurt was, in fact, incorrect down to the brand and flavor. “i’m sorry, baby,” you say to your daughter, running a hand over her hair before grabbing the yogurt to swap it out for the correct one, this time taking a few seconds to scan everything in the fridge. you appreciate the cold air from the refrigerator, as it cools you down from the rush of heat you feel along your face and neck. you take a breath and tell yourself to get a fucking grip before dropping the correct item into the cart.
“daddy, can i get ice cream?” your daughter asks joshua as you start ambling through the grocery store. you cut your eyes at your daughter for not asking you, but you know it’s because joshua never says no to her.
“of course, princess,” and you watch with pure adoration as he places a kiss on her forehead and she just giggles, scrunching her shoulders up to her ears. joshua is a good husband, but he’s an even better father, and you love watching him interact with your daughter. they have a special connection that you love to witness, a secret language just between the two of them. it’s moment like this where you want another kid—or maybe it’s part of the hazy mess you’re in because of his sheer existence.
you follow behind joshua towards the ice cream aisle. the shirt he wears is tight on him, straining against his biceps and shoulders. you can make out his back muscles depending on how the light hits the fabric, and you feel even crazier than before. his muscles have been the source of your you distracted state today. joshua has always been muscular, and he’s always worked out, but something about him recently has flipped a switch in your brain that has made you feel absolutely feral every time you catch a mere glimpse of his arms—which is quite literally every day. this morning it was too overwhelming, him coming home and shedding his jacket to reveal himself in a simple black tank top that looked a size too small, and gray sweats that made you feel like you needed to go to confessional.
another rush of cold air pulls you out of your lustful daze and you stand at the back of the shopping cart as joshua shuffles through the cartons of ice cream, asking your daughter her input. you try to keep your eyes focused on your daughter, anything else, but cant help when they drift over to your husband, his arms flexing each time he grabs a pint and displays it to your daughter. joshua casts a glance at you, a smile that says can you believe this? when you daughter shakes her head for the fourth time, despite not asking to look for herself. you blush under his gaze, heat spreading down your neck and chest before settling in your stomach.
"i thought you liked the oreo one?" you say to your daughter, voice slightly hoarse. you smooth a hand over her hair to give yourself something to do, hands a little clammy from all of your nerves working overtime.
"i do..." she trails off, turning to look at you with a tiny pout on her lips.
"tell daddy before he freezes," you say, placing a soft kiss on her cheek. just the mere reference to joshua feels heavy in your mouth, makes your stomach flutter for reasons you can't really explain.
joshua places the pint of oreo ice cream into the cart, circling around to the front and playfully ticking your daughter under her chin. she giggles loudly and you smile as you watch her become a spitting image of her father. arms cage you between the carts handlebar and a firm chest, and suddenly your eyes are no longer on your kid but on the strong, veiny forearms that belong to your husband. “excuse me,” he murmurs, a teasing lilt to his voice like he knows that you’re losing your mind at the simple sight of him.
wordlessly, you gently grab his right arm to remove yourself from his entrapment. “hey,” joshua says softly, reaching out for your wrist as you move swiftly to get away from him. turning, goosebumps arise on your skin, and you tell yourself that it’s because his hands are ice cold. “you okay, honey?” your stomach flips and you press your lips into a small smile, nodding.
joshua stares at you for a beat before leaning down a few inches, silently begging for a kiss. you nearly combust at the thought, not trustworthy of yourself to behave normally in public. but his eyes are fond, and you love him so much and want him so bad that you raise up on your toes and brace yourself on his shoulders before delivering a soft, quick peck to his lips. you’re proud of yourself for holding back, but joshua isn’t satisfied because he stays leaned over in the spot you kissed him in for a few seconds after the fact that you’ve pulled away. if you were at home, he’d yank you back to him but because you’re in public he files that grievance away and straightens up.
“i want a kiss,” your daughter pouts, cutely crossing her arms over her chest. since she doesn’t specify from whom, both of you lean in and press kisses to her cheeks. her giggle ripples through you, filling your stomach with butterflies and your chest with a type of love reserved only for her. you’re momentarily pulled away from your joshua shaped daze, until his hand is settling on your lower back. it chilling, his touch, and it’s not because his hands are ice cold from standing in the grocery store freezer for two minutes.
a shiver runs up your spine and you slip out of his grasp, not paying attention to where or what you’re walking into until joshua is pulling you back into him, his hand splayed across your stomach and your back colliding with his chest. “babe, watch out,” a woman pushing a cart stops short, a look of remorse on her face.
“oh my god, did i hit you?” she asks, and you figure you must look injured or something, because she looks genuinely concerned for your wellbeing. the flush on your face is not due to the fact that you were almost ran over, but because joshua hasn’t moved his hand from your stomach and hasn’t put any distance between your back and his front. he stays pressed against you, holding you firmly in front of him, his hold tightening ever so slightly.
“n-no, i’m alright,” you manage, lips tingling. “i swear.” you add when her eyebrows don’t drop from her hairline. at that, she seems to believe you enough snd offers you a smile and a curt nod before hurrying down the aisle.
“are you alright, honey? you’re trembling,” joshua says, his deep voice like melted wax running down your back. you make the mistake of looking up and over your shoulder at him, his palm pressing into your lower belly.
he peers down at you with soft eyes, ready to question you again until your tongue darts out to wet your lips before you tuck your bottom lip under your top one and nod. he knows the look in your eyes all too well—hunger, but not for food—and heat pools in his chest. joshua is much better at hiding his desire for you, especially in public and in front of your child, and he’s able to keep his expression the same, pretending he never saw that look in your eye. “i’m fine,” you’re shuffling away from him again, this time checking to make sure you’re not seconds away from being ran over with a shopping cart.
somehow, you three mange to finish your shopping trip without anymore mishaps. it requires circling back to the same aisles more than once because neither you nor josh can remember what you wanted to buy, but at least you can say you’re done. joshua loads the groceries into the trunk while you buckle your daughter into the backseat. she yawns, stretching her little arms up and out. “sleepy?” you ask her, a small smile on your face.
“no,” she says, vehemently shaking her head. you chuckle hum a sound of disbelief before dropping a kiss on her forehead and going to the front seat. the trunk closes and you suck in a breath as you watch him in the rearview mirror. he brushes his hand through his hair, and even through the mirror and the tint of the trunk window, you can make out his bicep muscle flexing with the motion.
it’s nearly pathetic how horny you feel just looking at him—like an overgrown teenager who just got into their first relationship. except you’re an adult, married to this man, and this behavior is no longer considered ‘cute’.
joshua gets into the front seat and smiles at you, leaning over the console to give you a kiss. his hand rests on the side of your neck, and you wonder if he’s trying to check your pulse, to mess with you. you keep your hands to yourself, because if you touch him, you might never stop.
pulling back from your mouth, he looks into your eyes before flicking them back down to your lips. joshua starts to lean in but seems to remember you’re not alone, and sits back in his seat, his hand lingering on your neck for a moment before he starts the car and asks your daughter if she’s ready to go.
the car ride is quiet, save for your daughters yawns and insistence that she is not tired. she makes most of the noise, talking about random things that you and joshua entertain with ease. he watches her in the review mirror with real, unconditional love in his eyes. it does nothing to help your situation, and just makes you want to give him another baby.
when you arrive back at your house, you quickly get out of the car, grateful to get out of the stuffy, suffocating feeling of being in the front seat. you walk around the back and help your daughter out, ready to carry her inside until she exclaims, “i want to help!”
you ser her down on the ground and she runs over to joshua. you watch him give her two of the lighter bags of groceries, and raises her arms to show you, a big smile on her face. you smile back and press in the garage code and tell her to go inside of the house, seemingly leaving you and joshua alone. you sidle up next to him, and joshua lightly bumps his hip into yours. “hmm?” you question without looking up from the numerous bags in the back of the car.
“why are you avoiding me?” he asks, and the directness makes your hands clam up.
“i’m not avoiding you,” you say, taking a few grocery bags and backing up from him.
“you quite literally are.”
you stare up at him, his eyebrows knitted together in slight irritation. “i still love you, if that’s what you’re asking,” you clarify. his features soften and his shoulders relax a bit. those shoulders. your eyes drifts down his figure, lingering on his flexed forearms, veins bulging out from the tension of carrying the grocery bags.
joshua watches you obviously ogle and check him out, his entire figure relaxing at his realization. “oh, i get it now,” he teases, a slow smirk sliding across his lips.
“get what?” you play dumb, taking a tentative step backwards before turning around and trying to keep your walk casual as you walk through the garage. it’s so obvious you’re trying to keep space between the two of you, putting anything in the way to keep you off of him.
“that you wan-“ joshua cuts himself off because you push open the door that leads you into the house. he clears his throat and closes the garage door before following behind you into the kitchen. your daughter is standing on her tippy toes trying to reach a cupboard that’s way to high for her, concentration etched on her face. “need help, bub?” he asks, setting his bags down on the counter.
“i can’t reach,” she whines, yawning immediately after. joshua lifts her up into his arms and opens the cupboard for her abd allows her to put the item away. “i’m tired, daddy.” she rests her head on his shoulder, tiny arms encircling around his neck.
you watch them and you feel your heart grow three times in size, like the grinch. joshua coos at her and pats her head before agreeing to put her down for a nap. you busy yourself with unloading the groceries, stomach flipping at the thought of having at least an hour alone with your husband. you can’t believe how depraved you feel.
joshua comes back downstairs a few minutes later, right when you’re putting the last thing into the fridge. “you finished?” he asks. you nod, heart hammering in your chest as he walks over to you. his hands drop onto your hips, pulling you flush against him. you keep your eyes straight ahead, leveled wirh his chest, and joshua dips his head down to meet your eyes. “see: you’re avoiding me.”
hear creeps up your neck and you shake your head. “i’m not.”
“don’t try to gaslight me,” he teases, making you roll your eyes and finally look up at him. “there she is.” he murmurs, leaning down a few centimeters to connect your lips. your hands flatten against his chest, and he walks your backwards into one of the kitchen counters. joshua leans over you, trying to press you flat against the surface despite the lack of space.
“shua,” you breathe once you pull away when he unbuttons your jeans.
“what, you’ve got somewhere better to be?” he asks, arching one of his eyebrows.
“i… i have to do laundry…” you say halfheartedly. joshua laughs at this, dropping his forehead against yours. “i’m serious!” you say, but you’re smiling too. “i want to go back to avoiding you.”
joshua pulls back to look down at you, making a face that says for what? “i thought you wanted me to fuck you?”
“yeah, i’m afraid nothing will keep me off of you if we start,” you say honestly. joshua blushes deeply, a boyish grin on his face. “i want you so bad—i think i might be ovulating? i don’t know. i just want you so. bad.” you punctuate the last part with the press of your knuckles into his chest.
“you’re ovulating?” it’s like bells went off in his head.
“maybe, i don’t know. i don’t keep track of that shit. i just need an explanation for how i feel,” you say, hands sliding along his chest absentmindedly.
joshua raises both of his eyebrows at you, fake shock on his face. “maybe because you have a super hot and sexy husband who is also a really good father? just a hunch.”
“no, i don’t think that’s it,” he rolls his eyes at you and you giggle, balling his shirt up into your fists and pulling him down to you. joshua grips onto the counter to steady himself, his hold tight enough to turn his knuckles white. he presses his pelvis into yours, his his erection pressing against your leg.
joshua wraps an arm around you and splays his hand across the small of your back. he presses you down onto the counter and you grip his shoulders tightly, craning your mouth away from his to breathe out, “not here.” he pulls you up from the counter and looks down at you, his chest moving up and down quickly. you can practically see the gears turning in his head as he thinks about a place to fuck you that won’t bring attention to the two of you. “laund-ah!” he swoops you up into his arms easily, already carrying you in the direction of your laundry room before you can even get the entire word out.
you wrap your legs around his waist as you buzz with need and anticipation. you let yourself revel at being carried by him after lusting over his arms all day. he carries you like you’re weightless, with his his hands resting under your ass for support. “god,” you whisper to yourself, pressing a kiss into his neck.
“i love you,” he rasps as he enters the laundry room. he shuts and locks the door behind him before dropping you onto the washing machine. his hands are flying to undo the buttons of your blouse and you pull him closer using your ankles that are still wrapped around him.
“love you more,” you murmur, helping him with removing your top. “your turn.” your urge, pulling the hem of his shirt.
“sure you can handle it?” he teases. you flush and lightly push at his abdomen. “don’t wanna make you pass out or anything.” he smirks at you, loving to watch you squirm.
“i can handle it,” you say, feeling so embarrassed to even be in this position. luckily, joshua is sweet to you above all and draws you in for a kiss. you skate your hands up underneath his shirt, nails lightly scratching against his torso. “take it off.” you mumble against his lips, hands pushing up the material of his shirt. you feel like you could rip him out of the fabric.
joshua pulls back and makes an entire show of getting undressed. he runs a hand through his hair and purposefully flexes his bicep as he does so. if this was any other time, you’d roll your eyes and call him annoying. but today, all you can do is watch and try not to drool.
he pulls his shirt over his head and tosses it into an empty laundry basket nearby. you waste no time leaning forward and pulling him into a kiss, threading your fingers through his hair. you move to kiss his jaw and then his neck, your hands sliding down his body. you kiss across his chest, going lower until the position becomes uncomfortable. lightly shoving him, you hop off of the washing machine and drop to your knees in front of him.
joshua watches you with dark eyes, holding onto the edge of the machine. you fumble with his belt, hands shaking with anticipation of finally having him, and he makes no effort to help you out. your hands work too fast, and you mess up when you try to pull the buckle open for the second time. “i’ve got all day,” he say smugly. you ignore him, and finally pull his belt free. you work his pants down to his ankles, leaving. him in just his briefs. you let out a breath and look up at him with pure lust. “as pretty as you look right now, you’d look much better with my cock in your mouth.”
quickly, you pull his underwear down and let them pool together with his pants, hands flying to grab ahold of his member. you pump him a few times, flicking your eyes to look up at him. joshua gives you a slight nod, signaling you to start sucking, and you eagerly oblige. sticking your tongue out, you lick up the precum that dribbles out of the tip before you wrap your lips around the head and push him into your mouth, cheeks hollowing as you go. a groan escapes joshua’s mouth and he gathers your hair into a makeshift ponytail.
you drag him into your mouth inch by inch, your eyes never once leaving his. his chest heaves up and down, moving faster and faster the closer you get to taking him all the way. tears prick in your eyes when he hits the back of your throat, but you keep going until your nose nearly presses into his hips. “shit,” he whispers, leaning more of his weight into the washing machine.
you bob your head up and down, pulling back and stroking what doesn’t fit. you swirl your tongue around the tip, cheeks hollowing to create more suction when you suck on the tip. joshua moans lowly above you and tells you how good you’re doing. his eyes flutter shut, squeezed shut in pleasure and his chin drops down to his mouth. you want his eyes on you, want him to watch you as you make him feel good, so you purposefully scrape your teach against his dick to get his attention.
his eyes fly open as he jerks back from you, glaring at you when you smile around him. “brat,” he spits and tightens his grip on your hair. you sigh through your nose and press your thighs together, cunt throbbing with need. you keep bobbing your head, speeding up slightly and taking more of him into your mouth. when joshua presses your head down, you relax your throat and let him take control, hands moving to hold onto his thighs. “good girl.” he grunts, holding your head down on his dick for a few seconds until you gag, and then he pulls you off of him.
he does this a few more times, his cock twitching against your tongue. tears gather in your eyes but you power through, determined to make him cum. he pulls you down onto him, cursing each time he hits the back of your throat. “fuck, you take me so well. i’m c-close,” tears slip down your cheeks and mix in with the spit and cum. your face is a mess, but neither of you care.
joshua fucks his cock into your mouth, holding your head steady in his hands. you dig your nails his thighs to combat the ache in your jaw. he thrusts into your mouth until he can’t take the feeling of your warm mouth around him anymore, his cum shooting into the back of your throat. you keep your mouth open to catch all of his seed, some of it gathering around the corner of your lips. “s-swallow,” he demands when he pulls his cock away from your mouth.
you obediently swallow, and he whines in the back of his throat. “goddamn, i love you,” he holds his hands out to you and helps you up onto his feet. he wipes the corners of you lips with his thumb and shoves it into your mouth, lips parting when you suck on his thumb like you just did his cock. “youre such a slut.” he murmurs, a loving gaze in his eyes.
a trail of saliva connects your lips to his thumb when you pull it out of your mouth. “promise?” you ask.
joshua smiles and pulls you into a kiss, his tongue slipping into your mouth. his hands make use of unbuttoning your jeans and shoving his hands down your pants. your panties are damp, and he’s a bit shocked and honored that you’re this wet for him. “i need you,” you whine, peppering kisses down his neck. you don’t even want his fingers, just want him inside of you.
“i know,” he rasps, slipping a finger between your folds. you shudder when he touches you, his finger playing with your arousal and brushing over your clit, just to make you jump. you clench around nothing, and it’s nearly painful how turned on you are.
“joshua!” you whine, nipping at his neck. his hand immediately grabs onto your hair and yanks, a hiss emitting from your lips followed by a smirk.
“needy brat,” he grumbles, walking the two of you over to the work bench in the room. he drops onto it and spreads his legs invitingly. you quickly step out of your jeans and underwear, his eyes roaming over your body. “you’re a beautiful, y/n.”joshua says sincerely; at the end of the day, he is simply a lover boy.
you smile at him and quickly drop yourself onto his lap, straddling him and wrapping your arms around his neck. you reach between the two of you and position yourself over his cock. his hands grip onto your hips tightly and guide you down onto him, bottom lip drawing in between his teeth.
“ah-fuck!” you cry when you sink onto the tip, the initial stretch rippling through you.
“you’ve got it, baby,” he encourages, thumbs rubbing sift circles into your hips. you bite down on your bottom lip, hands gripping tightly onto his shoulders as you sink lower and lower onto him. “goddamn, girl.” he grunts, hips bucking when you clench around him.
when you manage to take all of him, you sit still and catch your breath, head resting on his shoulder. joshua unhooks your bra and you lean back to slide it off your arms. “you okay?” he asks, hands groping your chest.
“uh huh,” you rasp, taking it as a sign to start fuckign him, licking your lips and raising your hips before dropping onto his lap. “fuck, shua.” whimpers leave you lips as you fuck yourself onto him, using his shoulders as leverage to move yourself up and down. joshua relaxes into the wall, his grip on your hips loosening as you gain momentum and find a rhythm.
“you’re so tight,” he groans, one of his thumbs finding your clit and rubbing slow circles around the sensitive nub. “been thinking about fucking you all day.” joshua sighs and rubs your clit quicker, eyes peering up to watch your facial expressions. “you need me as bad as i needed you?” he mumbles, voice low and husky.
“more,” you pant, still bouncing up and down on him. your cunt clamps around him like it’s trying to keep him there. “shuaaa!” you whine, thighs burning. you sit on his lap, rolling your hips into his.
he chuckles breathlessly, rolling his other thumb over one of your nipples. “yeah? tell me,” he grins at you devilishly, this side of him only coming out in your intimate moments.
“so bad,” you cry, grinding down onto his lap. “w-wanna give you a-another baby.” you squeeze around him involuntarily, a knot forming in your stomach. joshua twitches inside of you at the mention of having another child.
“yeah? want me to fill you up?” you whimper and nod, legs starting to shake. “want me to fuck you full of my cum until you’re pregnant again?” he lets go of you breast to place both hands underneath your ass. he lifts you up and drops you down, a show of his strength as he fucks you up an down onto him.
joshua grumbles filthy things into your ear; tells you that he’s gonna fuck you until you can’t walk, that he’s gonna stuff you full, that’s he’s going to give you another baby tonight. “f-fuck! i-im gonna cum,” you cry, throwing your head back in pleasure. he bucks his hips up into you, hitting that spongy spot inside of you repeatedly.
spots blur your vision and your cunt spasms around him as you reach your climax. it hits you like a thousand bricks, and you’re shaking in his arm and crying out his name. you expect him to stop, but he keeps thrusting up into you, drawing out your orgasm further. you can hardly think through the waves of pleasure, which is why you hardly register that he’s lifted you up until you’re placed on a cold surface.
joshua drags you to the edge of the washing machine and slams his cock into you, nearly knocking the wind out of you. “o-oh my god,” you gasp, tears brimming in your eyes for the second time tonight. “you feel so good!”
he drives his hips into you brutally, his fingers digging into the fat of your thighs. “f-fuck, i’m not gonna last,” he groans, dropping his head into your neck. he kisses your skin and lightly bites, though not hard enough to leave marks. you cling to him, arms secured around his shoulders like you may fall if you dont hold on.
his thrusts get sloppier by the second, indicative of his nearing climax. “i love you,” you breathe, nails clawing at his back. he grunts, whining out curses as he cums inside of you, his dick twitching between your walls. he stills, fingers applying bruising pressure to your hips.
after a few moments, he lifts his head from your shoulder and looks at you, a tender smile on his face. he presses his lips to your gently, sighing against you as he goes soft. “shit,” he pants, followed by a light chuckle.
you can’t help but giggle back, running a hand through his hair. he doesn’t want to pull out, not yet at least, wanting to make sure his cum stays inside of you as long as possible. he lets go of your thighs and wraps his arms around you, squeezing you into his chest. you kiss the column of his throat, right on his adam’s apple and rubs soft circles into your back.
“we should clean up,” he murmurs, starting to draw back from you. you make a sound of disagreement and squeeze around him on purpose. “b-brat.” he stammers, curling away from you.
he pulls out of you with a lewd squelch, both of you turning light shades of pink at the noise. he helps you off of the washer and you lean against it. he finds a random towel and comes back to wipe between your legs before cleaning himself off and tossing it in the same basket he threw his shirt in. “i guess i could start a load,” you say, looking at all of the discarded clothes, making joshua laugh.
he helps you gather them up and drop them into the washer. you add in the detergent and slam the top closed. except, when you go to start the washer, joshua places a hand on your back and presses you flat against the washer and slots his knee between your legs to spread them open. you don’t get a chance to prepare yourself because he’s pushing into you again, a strong arm wrapping around your middle to hold you steady as he fucks into you from behind, determined to get you pregnant tonight.

Make All Easier | H. Js

Genre: fluff, dad au!
Summary: He always picture you and him to be a parent of daughter. So when your baby daughter was born, he already knew what to do and it makes everything easier.
Author note: Hi! I'm available to tip now, send me Jeans👖 here on ko-fi🤍
Jisoo felt a tiny hand slap his face as he was peacefully sleeping. A smile crept onto his lips even before he opened his eyes, the familiar squeals of his 10-month-old daughter echoing softly in the quiet room. As he finally blinked his eyes open, he saw her sitting upright on the bed, her chubby hands patting his chest as she babbled incoherently, demanding attention. No one was ready to play at 6:30 a.m. except for little Yuri.
Chuckling, Jisoo stretched out his arms, lifting her into the air before settling her onto his stomach. She let out a delighted squeal, her laughter filling the room like music. "Good morning, princess," he murmured, brushing her fluffy hair out of her eyes as she wiggled happily.
Last night came to mind—he remembered bringing Yuri to bed after her midnight cries echoed through the house. Both you and Jisoo had stirred awake, but before you could even swing your legs off the bed, Jisoo had already sat up, saying, "I'll handle it," in a sleepy but determined voice.
"What's wrong, Yuri?" he had asked gently as he approached her crib, her tiny face scrunched up in distress. The moment her teary eyes spotted him, her cries softened to sniffles. Jisoo picked her up, her small body melting into his chest as if that was all she needed to feel safe. After changing her diaper and preparing a bottle of formula in the dimly lit kitchen, he carried her back to bed. Yuri had quickly fallen asleep in the middle of the bed, sandwiched securely between her parents.
Now, as the early morning light filtered through the curtains, you stirred beside him, your voice soft and groggy. "Who's this little troublemaker..." you mumbled, squinting at Yuri as she crawled toward you.
The moment Yuri heard your voice, her babbling turned into excited squeals, and she wriggled out of Jisoo’s arms to reach you. Giggling, you scooped her up and brought her closer. "Why are you up so early, hm?" you asked, your voice playful as you nuzzled your face into her soft, round belly. Yuri's laughter erupted, a pure, joyous sound that warmed your heart.
"Why don't we all go back to sleep, baby?" you whispered, laying her down beside you and wrapping her in a warm embrace. But being an active and curious 10-month-old, Yuri had other plans. She squirmed free almost immediately, crawling over you and Jisoo with boundless energy.
Jisoo propped himself up on one elbow, watching the scene unfold with a grin. "Yuri, are you that excited already?" he teased, leaning in to tap her nose gently. She responded with more babbles, her tiny hands flailing as if trying to explain her morning enthusiasm.
"Alright, alright," Jisoo chuckled, sitting up and scooping her into his arms. "Let’s let Mom sleep a little more while we go grab some breakfast, okay?" Yuri’s eyes sparkled, as if she understood her father’s plan.
Jisoo placed Yuri gently into her highchair, securing her in place before sliding it up beside the kitchen counter. Her tiny hands smacked the tray enthusiastically, babbling as her big eyes followed his every move. Jisoo smiled at her, responding to her every sound with a soft laugh or a playful "What’s that, princess?" as he prepared her breakfast.
He pulled out a perfectly ripe avocado and sliced it while waiting for the toast to pop up from the toaster. Humming softly, he scrambled an egg for protein, plating everything neatly for Yuri. Her small squeals of excitement filled the kitchen as she watched him work.
Moments later, you emerged from the bedroom, still a bit groggy but ready to help out with breakfast. Stretching as you entered the kitchen, you smiled at the scene before you: Jisoo fussing over Yuri, who was happily babbling away in her highchair.
"Do we have any veggies, babe?" Jisoo asked, peering into the fridge as he looked for something to add to Yuri’s meal.
You joined him at the fridge, pulling out a bunch of broccoli. "I’ll steam these for you. Avocado toast?" you asked, gesturing to the stack of avocados on the counter, too sleepy to consider a more complicated breakfast option.
Jisoo laughed, catching the subtle tiredness in your voice. "Sure, babe. That works. I'll pop some bread in the toaster for us."
Your heart softened at his thoughtful offer, and you leaned in for a quick kiss. He smiled into the kiss, but before he could say anything, Yuri squealed loudly, her little arms flailing in excitement. She loved seeing her parents share affection.
"Mama! Mama!" Yuri called out, her bright voice making both of you laugh.
Jisoo turned to her with an exaggerated look of surprise. "Papa!" he said, pointing to himself and trying once again to coax her into saying his name. This wasn’t the first time he’d tried, but Yuri seemed determined to make him wait.
Yuri stared at him with a mischievous smile, her little cheeks puffing up with glee. Jisoo sighed dramatically, leaning over to press a kiss to her temple. "I’m convinced she’s holding back on purpose," he said, turning back to you with a grin.
You chuckled, finishing up the eggs and setting them on the toast. "She definitely knows how to mess with you," you teased, sliding the toast onto a plate.
Jisoo propped his elbow on the counter, smirking. "Wonder where she got that attitude from," he mumbled playfully, his gaze flicking to you.
"Careful," you said with mock sternness, laughing as you pulled the steamed broccoli out and set some on Yuri’s tray. You grabbed her plate, placing it on the highchair tray in front of her. "Yuri! Let’s eat," you cooed, pushing her closer to the table.
Jisoo laughed as he followed you to the table, carrying the avocado toast you’d prepared for the two of you. Yuri wasted no time reaching for her food, her little fingers grabbing a piece of broccoli as she babbled happily.
"You want coffee?" Jisoo asked, setting your plate in front of you and leaning down slightly to meet your gaze.
"Sure, thanks," you said with a soft smile, sitting beside Yuri to help her with her breakfast.
As Jisoo brewed the coffee, he glanced back at the two of you. Watching Yuri munch on her broccoli, occasionally glancing at you for reassurance, filled him with warmth.
Jisoo glanced at you with a questioning look when you casually slid one of your toasts onto his plate. "What’s this?" he asked, raising a brow in mild disbelief.
"I’ve had enough," you murmured, taking a slow sip of your coffee, avoiding his gaze.
Jisoo narrowed his eyes slightly, unconvinced. In no universe could his wife, you, have possibly eaten enough already. He knew you too well—you never left food unfinished unless you physically couldn’t eat another bite.
"You sure?" he asked, picking up the toast, his tone teasing but laced with genuine curiosity.
You nodded, quickly redirecting your attention to Yuri, who was happily holding pieces of her soft toast in both hands, her cheeks puffed out as you helped her eat bits of scrambled egg in between.
Jisoo chuckled quietly, still watching you as he finished his food. The three of you remained at the dining table, savoring the cozy morning together while Yuri enjoyed her breakfast. Jisoo couldn’t help but laugh every time Yuri deliberately squished her food between her tiny fingers or smushed it against her highchair tray, giggling as though it was her way of entertaining her parents.
"No, eat it properly," you tried to warn her in your soft yet firm "mom voice," but Yuri wasn’t having it. Her giggles turned into a squeal as she continued playing with her food.
Jisoo leaned back in his chair, stealing glances at you as you sighed and relaxed against the backrest, your eyes wandering to the untouched piece of toast on your plate. He smirked knowingly. You could never leave food uneaten, no matter how much you tried to convince yourself otherwise.
"Eat it, babe," he said with a warm smile, his tone gentle but encouraging.
You let out another sigh, glancing at the toast before mumbling, "I think it’s time."
Jisoo raised his brows, intrigued. "Time for what?" he asked, leaning forward slightly as if to make sure he caught every word.
"Losing weight," you admitted, your tone casual yet tinged with determination. You glanced at him, waiting for his reaction.
Jisoo tilted his head, his brows furrowing slightly. "What’s wrong? You’re perfect," he said sincerely, his voice filled with genuine care.
You shrugged, grabbing a napkin to wipe Yuri’s messy mouth as she continued to babble and grin at both of you. "I know," you said, a small smile tugging at your lips. "It’s just… I think it’s time to get back on track, you know? Focus on myself a little more."
Jisoo nodded, understanding immediately. He wasn’t one to push you, but he always supported your goals, whatever they might be.
"And since Yuri’s started taking formula now," you added, glancing at your daughter, who was happily gnawing on her toast, "it feels like the perfect time to start the drill."
Jisoo’s lips curled into a soft smile as he reached across the table, placing his hand gently over yours. "Whatever you want to do, I’m with you," he said, his voice steady and reassuring. "But just so you know, you’re already amazing as you are."
You smiled back, squeezing his hand lightly. "Thanks," you whispered, feeling the familiar warmth of his support wash over you.
As you gently wiped the crumbs off Yuri’s cheeks, she squirmed in her highchair, babbling excitedly. Her breakfast was a success, as evidenced by the mess she’d created on her tray. You smiled softly, brushing the bits of scrambled egg off her little hands.
Jisoo stood beside the sink, rinsing his plate, and turned his attention to you and Yuri. "Hey," he started, his tone casual but thoughtful, "if you want to hit the gym or go for a workout, I can watch Yuri for a bit."
You glanced up at him, surprised by the offer. "Really? Are you sure?" you asked, carefully unfastening Yuri’s highchair straps and lifting her into your arms.
Jisoo dried his hands on a kitchen towel and walked over to you. "Of course. You’ve been talking about getting back into a routine, and I’ve got no problem keeping an eye on her. Right, Yuri?" He gently poked her tummy, earning a delighted giggle from her.
You chuckled, adjusting Yuri on your hip. "You do realize she’s going to keep you on your toes the whole time, right?"
Jisoo chuckled, "come on, I’m her dad. I’ve got the stamina for this."
"Well, you sound confident. I might just take you up on that."
"Good," Jisoo replied, cradling Yuri in one arm while using the other to brush her hair away from her face. "But seriously, go do something for yourself. Hit the gym, take a yoga class, or even just grab a coffee and relax. I’ve got this."
You smiled at him, the weight of his offer sinking in. "Thanks, babe. I think I’ll take you up on that. I’ve been meaning to check out that new gym a few blocks away."
"If you want to do some cardio, you know I can help, right?" he teased, a playful smirk on his face as he balanced Yuri on his hip.
You turned around, raising an eyebrow at him. "Oh, really? And what exactly are you suggesting, Mr. Hong?"
Jisoo’s wink was shameless, his confidence radiating as he adjusted Yuri in his arms. "I’m just saying, some activities burn just as many calories as running," he quipped, his tone dripping with humor.
You rolled your eyes, trying to suppress the grin tugging at your lips. "Smooth," you muttered, shaking your head
Yuri, oblivious to her father’s cheeky comment, clapped her hands and let out a squeal. "Mama!" she called, pointing toward you as if demanding your attention back.
You walked back over and gently poked her cheek. "See, Yuri? This is why your dad needs babysitting too."
*
Jisoo sat cross-legged on the living room floor after preparing a snack for Yuri. He placed the plate of crackers on the coffee table and handed one to Yuri, who was perched on the couch, her tiny legs swinging and her eyes glued to the TV screen. Jisoo chuckled softly as he noticed she hadn’t even glanced at the snack.
"You really love your Uncle Jun, huh, Yuri?" he said with a smile, leaning over to press a kiss to her chubby little leg. But Yuri remained entranced, captivated by the drama featuring her Jun Uncle that they had been watching since you left for your pilates session.
With an hour and a half until you’d return, Jisoo was determined to keep his promise to you—Yuri would have a great time with him, no distractions. He still felt a twinge of guilt from the last time you left him in charge when he had dozed off on the couch. Yuri, ever the independent little explorer, had ended up playing blocks alone in her room until your voice startled Jisoo awake.
"You know, I can take her to daycare for a couple of hours," you had suggested earlier, sensing Jisoo's exhaustion. But he had been adamant about being responsible. "I’ve got this," he assured you, wanting to prove that he could handle fatherhood without shortcuts.
Now, here he was, spending quality time with Yuri in front of the TV, though he couldn’t help but notice how absorbed she was in Jun’s drama.
"Yuri, what’s so special about Uncle Jun? Is he handsome?" Jisoo asked playfully, tilting his head as he observed his little girl. To his utter surprise, Yuri nodded—actually nodded—as if she completely understood the question.
Jisoo gasped in mock betrayal. "Seriously? How about Papa? I’m handsome too, you know," he teased, his tone laced with exaggerated offense.
This time, Yuri’s focus shifted from the screen to him, her wide eyes meeting his.
"Papapapa..." she babbled, her tiny voice causing Jisoo to freeze. Did she just say "Papa"?
Jisoo’s heart nearly burst with excitement as he squatted in front of her, his face lit with anticipation. "Say it again, Yuri. Come on, say Papa!" he urged, his voice filled with hope.
But Yuri, ever the mischievous one, smiled sweetly and babbled, "Mamamama…"
Jisoo groaned dramatically, flopping backward onto the floor as Yuri giggled at his reaction. "Unbelievable," he muttered, shaking his head while his daughter clapped her hands, clearly enjoying her father’s antics.
"Your Mama’s going to love this," Jisoo said with a laugh, reaching over to hand Yuri another cracker. Though she still seemed more interested in the TV, he couldn’t help but feel a swell of pride. Even if she didn’t say "Papa" again just yet, moments like these made every second of fatherhood worth it.
Yuri let out a string of happy chatter as she finished the cracker in her hand. Jisoo, feeling playful and wanting to challenge her, decided to turn the snack into a game. "Get one yourself," he said with a grin, placing another cracker on the coffee table just out of her reach.
Yuri, as if she understood the command, looked at the cracker with determination. She pushed herself up onto her feet, her tiny legs wobbling as she steadied herself. She had been practicing standing and walking for a few steps, often holding onto walls or someone’s hand for support, but she wasn’t quite walking on her own yet.
Jisoo, sensing an opportunity, gently pushed the coffee table a bit further away, encouraging her to try. "Come on, Yuri. You can do it," he coaxed, his tone full of excitement.
Yuri first dropped to her knees and crawled toward the table. As soon as she reached it, she pulled herself up, gripping the edge with her small hands. Jisoo crouched beside her, smiling mischievously. "No crawling this time," he said softly as he gently lifted her back onto her feet.
"Let’s take a step," he said, holding her steady before slowly letting go.
Yuri wobbled, her balance shaky, and she plopped back down onto her diaper with a little thud. Jisoo chuckled but didn’t give up. "Come on, baby girl. Let’s try again. You’ve got this."
With his encouragement, Yuri stood up once more. She teetered as she extended one tiny foot forward, her brows furrowed in concentration. When she managed to take her first step, Jisoo’s face lit up with pure joy. "Yes! That’s my girl!" he cheered, clapping his hands enthusiastically.
Spurred on by her dad’s encouragement, Yuri took another unsteady step, then another. Her little giggles filled the room as she reached the coffee table and grabbed the cracker she had been eyeing. She squealed in triumph, holding it up like a prize.
Jisoo let out a celebratory yell, jumping to his feet. "Yuri, you did it! You walked, baby! You actually walked!" He scooped her up, twirling her around as she laughed in delight, her tiny arms flailing.
Still holding her cracker tightly, Yuri babbled happily as if sharing her victory. Jisoo kissed her chubby cheek, his heart swelling with pride. "Mama’s going to be so proud when she hears this," he said, already imagining how excited you’d be to hear about the milestone.
Jisoo was on a roll. After Yuri's triumphant first steps, he couldn’t help himself—he had to see her do it again. He gently set her down on the floor and placed another cracker a few feet away on the coffee table. "Okay, Yuri, let’s go for round two," he said, clapping his hands in encouragement.
Yuri, still riding the high of her little victory, babbled in delight and reached for him before attempting to stand again. This time, her steps were a little more confident, though still wobbly. She managed three tiny steps before plopping down again, giggling uncontrollably at Jisoo’s over-the-top cheering.
"You’re a natural!" Jisoo laughed, scooping her up for a quick cuddle before setting her down again. "One more time, baby girl. Let’s show Mama just how much you’ve improved!"
The two of them turned the living room into a mini walking practice arena. Jisoo spaced out her favorite toys along the floor, creating little "goals" for her to reach. He moved from one end of the room to the other, encouraging her every time she stumbled or hesitated.
"Come to Papa, Yuri! You can do it!" he called, crouching down with his arms open. Yuri squealed and took a few hesitant steps toward him before collapsing into his embrace. "That’s my girl!" he exclaimed, peppering kisses all over her chubby cheeks.
As the minutes turned into nearly an hour, Jisoo didn’t even notice how much time had passed. He was so focused on helping Yuri improve that he didn’t realize the living room was now strewn with toys, crackers, and a pile of pillows he’d used to soften her landing spots.
*
Jisoo entered the practice room, holding Yuri’s hand as she walked beside him. The one-year-old Yuri was a bit shy, flinching slightly as she was greeted by the chorus of excited voices from the members who were eager to see her.
"My wife will pick her up in an hour," Jisoo informed everyone, explaining why he had to bring Yuri to the practice. However, no one really seemed to pay much attention to his words; they were all too busy fawning over the tiny celebrity of the day.
"It's been so long since I've seen her. I can't believe she’s gotten this big!" Dokyeom exclaimed, lifting Yuri into his arms as she reached out with her little hands, clearly asking to be picked up.
"This is what it feels like to be her favorite," Dokyeom grinned, flexing proudly as Yuri clung to his neck, burying her face into his shoulder.
Meanwhile, Seungkwan stood off to the side, feeling wronged. Yuri had been avoiding him, and worse, she outright refused to be held by him. His pout was noticeable, but the others were too caught up in Yuri’s cuteness to notice.
"You shouldn't come to her like that, Kwan," Soonyoung teased, watching Seungkwan’s failed attempts to hold Yuri.
"Dont act like she likes you more than me," Seungkwan shot back. "We’re on the same stage here."
Just then, the door to the practice room opened, and Jun walked in. As soon as Yuri saw him, her eyes lit up, and she let out a squeal of excitement.
Jisoo sighed, a knowing smile creeping onto his face. "Yuri loves Jun. She’s watched all his dramas."
The statement caught everyone off guard, and Jun himself seemed genuinely surprised by the revelation. He quickly walked over and took Yuri from Dokyeom’s arms, and from that moment on, Yuri’s eyes never left him. Even as practice began, with music playing and choreography being rehearsed, Yuri sat on the couch, content with a snack in her tiny hands.
"Sit here while Papa works, okay?" Jisoo called gently, but Yuri didn’t even glance in his direction. Instead, she shamelessly stared up at Jun, her gaze unwavering as if she was completely captivated by him.
The room fell silent for a moment, everyone watching as Yuri refused to acknowledge Jisoo, only caring about Jun. The contrast between the two was almost too funny. Jisoo couldn't help but shake his head, a mix of amusement and exasperation on his face. "I guess I’ll never be her favorite," he muttered under his breath, earning a few chuckles from the others.
"Looks like Jun hyung is the real star of the show now," Dokyeom teased, and the rest of the members nodded in agreement, still entranced by Yuri's devotion to Jun.
The clock struck 10 PM, signaling that it was well past Yuri’s bedtime. You and Jisoo sat comfortably on the couch, unwinding after a long day. Jisoo had just come home from practice, and after you accompanied him during his late dinner, the two of you decided to share a can of beer. It had become a quiet ritual, a time to share stories about your days and simply enjoy each other's presence.
Jisoo leaned back on the couch, a soft smile playing on his lips as he recounted his day. “The members were so obsessed with Yuri during practice,” he said, chuckling at the memory. “No one could focus because she was there stealing the spotlight. Even Dokyeom was acting like her bodyguard.”
You smiled, imagining the scene. “I bet she loved the attention.”
“Oh, she did. But guess who she gave all her attention to?” Jisoo raised an eyebrow, his tone playful. “Jun. She only had eyes for him.” He laughed, shaking his head as if he still couldn’t believe it. “She wouldn’t even look at me. She was completely smitten.”
You laughed along with him, but his words sparked a thought. “You know,” you began, “I remember watching all of Jun’s dramas while I was pregnant with her. Could that be the reason?”
Jisoo’s brows furrowed in mock betrayal. “You watched all his dramas? You didn’t even watch my variety show!” His eyes widened as if he had just uncovered a great scandal.
You chuckled softly, trying to defend yourself. “Did I say all? Actually, not all of them. And for the record, I did watch your variety show!”
Jisoo raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. “The full episodes?"
You cringed, guilt flashing across your face. “The clips,” you admitted, unable to meet his eyes.
Jisoo burst out laughing, pulling you into his arms. “Unbelievable. My own wife.” Jisoo burst out laughing, shaking his head at your guilty expression before pulling you into a warm embrace. "I know you like Jun," he teased.
Your cheeks flushed as you giggled, tightening the hug. "I mean… he’s so handsome. How could someone be that handsome?" you admitted, unable to suppress your grin.
Jisoo pulled back slightly, pouting like a child. "I’m handsome too, you know."
"You are," you reassured him with a smile, "but he’s, like, super handsome."
"Super handsome?!" Jisoo gasped, clutching his chest as if you had just wounded him. "That’s way too much to say about another man who isn’t your husband! You’re breaking my heart here!"
His over-the-top reaction had you bursting into laughter, tears forming in the corners of your eyes as you playfully swatted his arm. "Oh, stop being dramatic!"
But Jisoo only leaned back with a mock sigh, mumbling, "I can’t believe I’m losing to Jun in my own house…"
Shaking your head in amusement, you snuggled closer to him. "Well, if it makes you feel any better, I married you, didn’t I?"
Jisoo grinned, his pout disappearing as he kissed the top of your head. "Yeah, you did. And that’s all that matters. But if Yuri starts calling Jun 'Dad,' we’re going to have a serious talk."
*
A year and a half later, your house was once again filled with excitement when you found out you were pregnant again—this time, with a boy. Jisoo was over the moon, and Yuri, though too young to fully understand, was thrilled at the idea of being a big sister. As the weeks passed, you began to experience all the ups and downs of pregnancy again, but this time, there was a twist—your cravings weren’t food-related. Instead, you had an undeniable, almost ridiculous craving to see Jun in person.
It started innocently enough. One quiet evening as Jisoo folded Yuri’s tiny clothes, you glanced at him from the couch and casually said, “I don’t know why, but I really want to see Jun. Like, just once. Is that weird?”
Jisoo froze mid-fold, turning his head slowly like he’d misheard you. His lips curled into a smirk as he placed the neatly folded onesie on the growing pile. “So now it’s not just binge-watching his dramas, huh? You want to meet him too?”
You groaned, placing a hand on your belly. “I can’t help it, okay? It’s like… I need to see him. Maybe it’s the hormones.”
“Hormones, huh?” Jisoo raised an eyebrow, clearly enjoying himself. “Sure it’s not your long-brewing celebrity crush finally boiling over? Because if we’re blaming hormones, then I think Yuri was just your cover-up last time”
You grabbed the nearest pillow and tossed it at him. He dodged with ease, laughing as he dropped onto the couch beside you, leaving Yuri’s clothes momentarily abandoned.
“Don’t make fun of me! I’m being serious here,” you whined, crossing your arms over your chest. “I might actually cry if I don’t see him.”
Jisoo gasped, clutching his chest dramatically like you’d just confessed something scandalous. “Cry? You’d cry over another man? A man who isn’t your husband?”
“Oh, don’t start,” you grumbled, though you couldn’t stop the small smile tugging at your lips. “You don’t understand. It’s not just about him being… you know…”
“Handsome? Perfect? Tall? Charismatic?” Jisoo listed with a grin, ticking the traits off on his fingers like he was keeping score. “Oh, I understand, trust me.”
You narrowed your eyes at him. “You’re enjoying this way too much.”
“Of course I am,” he shot back, still grinning. “I get to see my wife all flustered over a guy I personally know. Do you want me to get his autograph too? Or better yet, a signed poster?”
You smacked his arm lightly, laughing despite yourself. “Stop it! You’re the worst.”
Jisoo feigned offense, gasping again. “The worst? Here I am, folding clothes for our child, and you’re plotting a meeting with another man. Unbelievable.”
“Baby,” you groaned, dragging out his name. “I’m pregnant! And it’s not like I’m asking for much. I just want to see him, like… once. It’s not a crime.”
“Alright, alright,” he relented, leaning back against the couch with a teasing glint still in his eyes. “You’re lucky I’m your husband. I’ll see what I can do.”
Your eyes lit up immediately. “Really? You’ll do that for me?”
“Of course,” he said, reaching over to pull you into a side hug. “But don’t think I’ll let you gush over him in front of me. I’ll have to establish dominance as your real favorite.”
“Oh, please. You’re lucky I married you,” you teased, earning a pillow thrown back at you this time. And as laughter filled the room, you thought to yourself how you really did marry the best man after all.
You weren’t sure if he was serious, but you knew Jisoo. When he set his mind to something, he always made it happen. And, true to his word, a week later, he came home with the biggest grin on his face.
“Guess what?” he said, walking into the living room where you were lounging with Yuri.
“What?” you asked, curious but suspicious of his tone.
“I arranged for us to visit the company tomorrow. The members are practicing, and Jun will be there,” he said, casually dropping the news as if it were no big deal.
Your eyes widened in disbelief. “Wait, really? You’re serious?”
“Of course,” he said, sitting beside you and pulling you into a side hug. “Do you think I’d let my pregnant wife cry over Jun? I’m not that heartless.”
The next day, Jisoo drove you and Yuri to the company, your heart racing with a mix of excitement and nerves. As you entered the practice room, the members greeted you warmly, all eyes lighting up when they saw Yuri and your growing belly.
But you only had eyes for one person. There he was, standing near the mirrors, his hair slightly tousled and his warm smile directed at Yuri, who had already run toward him.
“Jun,” you said softly, feeling a little starstruck despite yourself.
Jun turned to you, his smile widening. “Oh, Y/n! It’s so good to see you again.”
You felt your cheeks heat up as Jisoo, standing beside you, tried to stifle a laugh. “Go on,” he whispered, nudging you lightly.
Jun walked over and greeted you politely, his gentle demeanor putting you at ease. He crouched slightly to address your belly. “So, this is the little one who’s been making all the fuss about meeting me?”
You burst out laughing, your nerves melting away. “Apparently. It’s all his fault,” you joked, patting your bump.
As the day went on, you couldn’t stop smiling. Watching Jun play with Yuri and talk to Jisoo like old friends felt surreal. Jisoo, for his part, seemed to enjoy watching you quietly fangirl, even sneaking a picture of you and Jun talking.
Later that night, as you lay in bed, you turned to Jisoo and kissed his cheek. “Thank you for today. It really meant a lot to me.”
Jisoo grinned, pulling you close. “Anything for you. Besides, I’m just glad you didn’t run away with Jun.”
You laughed, resting your head on his chest. “Don’t worry. You’re still my favorite.”
“You better mean that,” he said playfully, kissing the top of your head.
“I do,” you murmured, your voice soft with love. And with that, you drifted off to sleep, feeling incredibly grateful for your husband who always made everything easier—because he’s Jisoo, and he always could.

Joshua Hong is nice. Really nice. He opens the door for you every morning walking into work. He insists that he carries heavy file boxes from your boss’ office to your desk. He buys you coffee from the cafe down the street, knowing that the instant machine is almost always broken. Whenever he passes you in the hallway, he always smiles and mouths “fighting!” He notices when your enthusiastic mask slips and your tiredness peaks through. He tells you not to work so hard, and asks if you’ve been sleeping well.
He’s the kind of nice that makes people think twice about their relationship to him, wondering if they might be special.
But the answer is, no.
“He’s just like that. He’s nice to everyone. Get a grip.”
You sigh, staring at your reflection in the mirror hanging above your vanity. You’ve been absentmindedly rubbing moisturizer on your cheeks for the last three minutes, at least, thinking about your coworker. How have you gotten to the point of talking to yourself in attempts to rationalize the thoughts of him clouding your mind?
All of a sudden, your alarm rings. You jolt upright, reminded that you have to leave your tiny apartment and head over to your equally small office cubicle.
You quickly stand up from your vanity chair, then walk over to your closet to grab a jacket. Relying on muscle memory, your hand moves toward the hook it always lies on, only to swipe at air.
The one and only winter coat you own isn’t there.
You groan, remembering that you’d put it in the laundry bin after staining it with beer over the weekend, at that disastrous company “bonding” event. You look down at the taupe sweater you’re wearing, pinching the material to guess if it’d be warm enough. It’s barely a centimeter of fabric.
Glancing at the time on your phone, you decide that the thin sweater would just have to do.
You turn back to the mirror to do one last check of your appearance, when something catches your eye. Sitting on your bedside table is the plushie Joshua had won for you at the arcade. The bunny stares back at you innocently. You’d placed it there last night before crashing out on your bed, fatigued from the chaos of the company outing—or, more specifically, the secondhand embarrassment recalling your attempts at trying to be normal around Joshua.
You shake your head roughly. You could cringe at yourself on the way to work. Grabbing your work bag and shoving your shoes on, you rush over to the door.
Squaring your shoulders, you open it and walk out. And for a moment, as you’re turning your key to lock the door, you think that you’ll be alone for the commute to work for once.
But then you hear a familiar voice.
“Good morning!”
You tense, heart beginning to race, then turn around with a weak smile.
“Hi, Joshua.”
Somehow, you’re not only coworkers with your crush, but also next door neighbors.
“Hey,” he says, then takes a sharp breath. “It’s pretty cold today. Is that sweater going to be warm enough?”
“I’ll be fine,” you say, avoiding eye contact as you drop your keys into your bag. “It can’t be that cold.”
You adjust the bag strap on your shoulder and walk toward the elevator on your floor, pressing the down button. It immediately opens.
“You sure?”
You nod as the two of you walk inside the elevator.
Hoping he’ll stop pushing you on your lack of a coat, you ask, “Did you look into the McKinley and Lee file yet?”
“Come on, it’s not even 9am and you’re already attacking me with work!” Joshua dramatically clutches his chest, then lightly punches your arm. “What’d we say about 워라밸, huh?”
You feel your face getting hot, your right hand reflexively going up to where he’d touched your left arm. Was it always this toasty in the elevator?
Meeting his eyes for the first time today, you say, “Yeah, yeah, work-life balance. You’re right.”
His lips turn up and his eyes crinkle into bright crescent moons. You find yourself smiling back at him, despite having tried so hard to avoid his stupidly sweet gaze.
“I’m just teasin’, you know?” he says, leaning casually against the steel walls of the small elevator.
“Yeah, yeah,” you mumble again, rubbing the handle of your bag and tapping your foot to give yourself something else to focus on, suddenly aware that the two of you were alone.
God, could the elevator move any slower? Fidgeting with the loose threads of your sweater, you were on the verge of melting from being near his vicinity for so long.
Ever since Joshua Hong had arrived two months ago as a transfer from the Seoul branch, you haven’t gone a day without running into him. It was HR’s fault, really. The Human Resources department had placed him in yours, and also gave him the company-funded apartment next door to you.
He’d spent so much time around you that, if you didn’t see the people who regularly flocked to him, you’d think you were his only friend in the States. It was, and still is, ridiculous. His constant presence has meant that you are constantly aware of yourself. Of how you’re breathing too loud, and how your heart is beating too fast, and how you were in too much of a rush to do your full routine this morning. He makes you care more than usual about how well you perform at work, and, worse, he makes you think about how happy and funny you appear to be.
The way he teases you for being nervous (although that’s only because he’s around practically all the time) and the way he always notices when you aren’t feeling well—it’s as if he sees right through you. Yes, he sees right through you, and it’s incredibly scary knowing he could confront you at any time—maybe even in this elevator—and say that he’s known all along that you’ve had feelings for him. And what’s worse is that you know he’d be polite with his rejection. He’d be a gentleman, carefully letting you down with—
“Hello? Hellooo?” Joshua says, waving his hand in front of your face.
You jump, blinking rapidly. “Huh? Sorry, what?”
“We’re here, sweetheart,” he says gently.
“Oh,” you reply lamely.
He gestures with his hand for you to walk out of the elevator first. Inside the lobby, he walks by your side. As the two of you approach the door, he reaches it first, and opens it for you to head outside.
You’re immediately hit with a blast of winter and harsh winds. Your arms instinctively tighten around your stomach, trying to prevent the cold air from rushing up your sweater.
Joshua turns to you, brows furrowed. His eyes glance over your sweater again, and you can tell he’s about to say something. Certain it’s an I told you so, you quickly say, “Before you start, I’m fine. It’s really not that cold, and the bus is coming soon anyway.”
You march forward toward the crosswalk before the bus stop, knowing he’s following behind you. Once you reach the start of the white lines, you slow down to a stop, waiting for the signal to change.
Still behind you, Joshua says, “거기 있어봐.”
“왜?” Though confused, you listen to his request to stay where you are. You shift your weight from one foot to the other, feeling somewhat awkward just standing with your back turned to him.
He doesn’t answer your question why, but you hear a shuffle and the sound of fabric rustling. Then you feel a warm coat draped over your shoulders.
You turn back to face Joshua with a start, opening your mouth to protest.
But before you can get a word out, he takes his pointer finger and lightly presses it against your lips.
“Shh,” he says with a smile. “Tomorrow, wear a jacket, okay?” He pats the top of your head.
Speechless, you barely bring yourself to nod, then remember to shut your jaw. Let’s just survive this bus ride, you tell yourself. God, it was unfair how nice he was. It only made it harder for you to believe he was like this with everyone—or to stop hoping that, somehow, you might be the exception.
────୨ৎ──── Tuesday
Ever since you showed up to work on Monday wearing Joshua’s coat, your coworkers have been speculating nonstop about your nonexistent relationship with the man. More specifically, your two closest friends in the department, Boo Seungkwan and Lee Jihoon, have had a lot to say.
Today would be no different. Huddled around the coffee table in the break room with Seungkwan and Jihoon, you’ve been roped into listening to their comments.
Eyes darting between the two of them, you silently sip on your coffee.
“I’m a hundred percent sure now. I swear it’s real, he’s so into you,” Seungkwan says while staring at you, waving his hands in the air like a madman.
Jihoon raises his eyebrows. “Are you sure? Remember when you said that the delivery guy had a crush on this one,” he replies while pointing at you, “only for it to be me? Your 촉 is trash.”
Seungkwan scrunches his nose, and huffs in your direction, as if you’re going to defend his skill of guessing office relationships. (You’re not.)
“Your hunch is horrible, I said,” Jihoon says, goading him.
“No,” Seungkwan frantically shakes his head. “That was a one off. Remember when I said the nepo baby in Finance liked Director Chun’s secretary? He kept staring at her and nobody believed me but I was right!”
Jihoon rolls his eyes. “Lucky guess.”
“No, no, no, my 촉 is excellent, thank you very much.” Seungkwan turns to you, all pouty. “You trust my 촉, right?”
Finding the entire conversation ridiculous, you can’t help but shake your head and laugh. Though Seungkwan prides himself on his supposedly superior hunches, he is really only accurate half the time.
You raise your coffee cup to your lips and sip on the liquid inside, a perfect state in between steaming hot and lukewarm.
“Kkah, this coffee is great,” you say to Seungkwan, ignoring his question.
His eyes suddenly widen, and he frantically waves his pointer finger at you. “Oh, oh! Another thing! He always gets you coffee from that expensive place next door, Cafe whatever. He never gets us coffee, but he always gets you coffee.”
Taken aback, you put the cup down, saying, “No way, he does that for a lot of people. He bought coffee for the receptionist like, last week.”
“That’s because it was her birthday,” Seungkwan says.
“And how’d you know that?” you ask.
“Because there were happy birthday balloons next to her desk?” Seungkwan says matter-of-factly.
“Well—” you retort, before getting cut off.
“You know,” Jihoon suddenly interjects. “I hate to agree, but it’s true. Joshua doesn’t do that for anyone else.”
“Right?” Seungkwan exclaims, nudging your arm with his elbow. “Come on, I’m so right. Woozi said I’m right. Trust the 촉.”
You rub your temples, feeling ambushed by your loud friends.
“Yeah, yeah, sure.” You wave them off as you stand up from the little coffee table chair you’d been sitting on for the last few minutes. “I’m going to head out.”
“Where are you going?” Seungkwan asks.
“Away from you,” you joke.
“I know you’re going to the vending machine,” Jihoon accuses. "You always get a snack after coffee."
You raise your hands in mock surrender.
“Can you get me a granola bar, then? You know the one I like, the blueberry one.” Seungkwan asks.
“Oh, and a Coke Zero for me?” Jihoon adds. “Y’know, not everyone has a coffee fairy named Joshua, like you do.”
You laugh, shaking your head. “You know it’s not like that. Besides, you guys just love using my money, don’t you?”
“Guilty,” Jihoon grins.
“Come on, I paid for karaoke last Friday,” Seungkwan complains. “That was way more expensive than a granola bar and a Coke.”
“Coke Zero,” Jihoon says, emphasizing the “Zero.”
“Tomato, tomato.” Seungkwan wrinkles his nose, enunciating the “ay” and “ah” in the two pronunciations of the word.
“Apples, oranges,” Jihoon insists.
“Okay, okay, let’s not fight, children. A blueberry granola bar and a Coke Zero, on your way.” You give a pretentious salute.
Grasping your coffee, you down the rest of it and get up from the table. You crumple the cup and toss it into the trash can before leaving.
Walking through the main hallway, you pass the vending machines on your department’s floor, which are known to swallow dollar bills without offering products in return. Between the youngest employees in the department—people like you, Seungkwan, and Jihoon—you’ve discovered a secret spot that has better machines.
Once you reach the elevator, you tap on the down button. When the doors open, you walk inside and press on the “G” and “Door Close” buttons.
The elevator doors close smoothly, and you tap your foot as you watch the numbers at the top right corner go down from 8. It reminds you of the awkward elevator ride from Monday morning, but you quickly shake those thoughts out of your head.
It’s best not to think of Joshua when you don’t have to.
The garage is a relatively far trek from floor 8, but it’s a worthwhile time sacrifice. The other floors (and by extension, their vending machines) are locked by key cards for employees of their respective departments, so it’s either you take a chance with the floor 8 machines or head to the basement. You, Seungkwan, and Jihoon have all found that you’d rather not take that chance.
The elevator announces your arrival to the ground floor with a ding, and as the doors open, you make a beeline toward the machines.
Seeing that someone is already using the vending machine closest to the elevator, you walk past it toward the machine closest to the doors leading out of the hall and into the garage.
“Blueberry granola bar, Coke Zero. Blueberry granola bar, Coke Zero,” you repeat to yourself under your breath.
Coming to a stop by the vending machine, you scan the snacks inside. Grabbing your wallet, you fish some dollars out and double check the numbers of the items before lifting your right hand up to the combination pad.
Jihoon first, because he was slightly less annoying than Seungkwan this morning: Coke Zero, number 405. You punch the numbers into the machine. When it flashes $2.00, your eyes widen.
“Two dollars for a soda is robbery,” you groan.
Still, you count two dollars out from the wad of cash in your left hand, then feed it into the machine. The machine begins whirring, the spiral in 405 moving forward. But just as you think the drink is going to come out, the spiral stops.
“Oh, come on,” you mutter.
You press on the small button next to the number pad that you guess is made for delivering change, but it doesn’t return your money.
Maybe putting in two more dollars would make the machine move and spit out two drinks? Immediately acting on the thought, you punch 405 in the number pad again and feed two more dollars into the machine, only for it to whir without delivering the Cokes again. Another two dollars later, and the same happens.
Taking matters into your own hands, you begin banging on the front of the vending machine. After around five seconds of failing to make the machine respond to physical force, your arms fall from the screen back down to your sides.
Clenching your fists, you sigh and count out two more dollars from your left hand. Then, your right hand stalls.
On second thought, you really don’t want to lose more money to the machine. Maybe you should try to force it out one more time? You shove the remaining cash into your back pocket.
You raise your clenched fists again, but before your hands meet the vending machine glass, a voice suddenly comes from right behind you.
“Whoa, whoa.”
Unfortunately, you’d recognize that honey-coated voice anywhere.
You spin around wide-eyed, coming shockingly close to Joshua Hong. His face is dangerously near yours, and his arms have wrapped around your body to clasp your hands in his.
“Shua? Wha—” Your voice is breathless, trailing off like you’ve forgotten how to speak.
“Hey, don’t fight the machine. You’ll only end up hurting your hands.”
His words are soft, but the way his thumb grazes your knuckles leaves a faint hint of warmth, like he’s lit a match against your skin. You should pull back—really, you should. But the closeness, the weight of his presence, keeps you frozen in place.
Your heart stutters in protest. This is nothing. He’s always like this. Always caring, always thoughtful. Always too close.
And yet, remembering what Seungkwan and Jihoon said, some part of you also wonders: Why does it feel different when it’s me?
Scowling, you drop his hands and take a step back, like distance will save you. "It's fine. I'm handling it."
His brow arches at your defiance, and for a moment, his gaze searches yours, like he’s looking for something you’re not ready to admit.
"Are you?" he asks, the words laced with amusement.
Your hands ball into fists at your sides, both in frustration and to keep them from reaching out for him again and betraying you.
“I am,” you insist, though the heat rising in your cheeks threatens to undermine your confidence.
But then, just as quickly, he tilts his head, and his lips curve into a smirk—soft, upturned at the corners, with those faint dimples that could bring a fortress down.
And for a moment, just a moment, you wonder if you’re the only one feeling this way.
But before you can think of a sharp retort, his voice cuts through the haze in your head.
“You should’ve just asked me for help—like always.”
The softness in his tone, the familiarity, pulls you up short. It’s almost unbearable how easy it is for him to say things like this. Like it’s normal. Like it’s not turning your brain into static.
It’s too much. He can’t keep getting away with this, with being so nice to you all the time. It’s not fair.
“Stop being so nice to me,” you blurt out, clenching your fists tighter. You’ve got to hold your ground.
Joshua cocks his head slightly. “I thought you like it when I help you?”
Your face gets, if possible, even hotter.
Honestly, what can you even say to that?
Desperately avoiding his face, you stare at the much safer collar of his shirt. It’s an off white color, like the fur of the stuffed bunny he’d gotten you at the arcade. It remains on your nightstand because you still have no idea what to do with it.
Realizing that you didn’t answer him, you finally deflect. “Where’d you even come from? I didn’t see you.”
“Over there,” he says softly, pointing at the vending machine by the elevator.
“Oh.” You press your lips together, belatedly realizing that the person you’d passed on your way to this vending machine had been Joshua all along.
“So, what’d you need? I’ll fix it for you.”
You feel your face getting hot again. “Coke Zero,” you mumble.
“I thought you didn’t like Coke?” Joshua asks.
He remembers?
“It’s not for me,” you explain. “For Woozi.”
“Woozi?”
“Oh, I mean Jihoon.”
Strangely feeling like you have to explain yourself to him, to let him know that you’re only friends, you say, “We went to college together. Me, Jihoon, and Seungkwan. We just happened to get into the same department here.”
Joshua hums in acknowledgment. “No wonder, I always saw the three of you together. Made me feel left out.”
Your heart drops. Eyes wide, you cross your arms repeatedly, saying, “I never—we never meant to exclude you at all!”
“That’s okay, I have you to talk to, right?” he says with what you can only describe as an upside down smile.
You swallow and nod.
“Y’know I was just teasing,” he says casually. “I wasn’t offended.”
Before you can confront him about the mental whiplash he’s putting you through, he grasps your shoulders and maneuvers you to the right, so that he can stand in front of the machine. His touch was fleeting, but your heart skips a beat anyway.
You watch as he grabs two dollars out of his wallet, then punches 405 into the keypad. As the spiral whirs, he sends two precise kicks to the bottom left of the machine.
Doubting his method, you raise your eyebrows in uncertainty. But just as you do, the whirring is accompanied by the sound of the soft drinks falling.
Thump! Thump! Thump! Thump!
That actually works?
Joshua bends down and sticks a hand into the bottom flap of the machine, pulling out the drinks that had just dropped from slot 405.
“Four Coke Zeros, at your service. Anything else?”
“Oh, a blueberry granola bar for Seungkwan. And those chips for me,” you say with mild surprise, pointing at slots 201 and 302.
“Sure thing.” He taps the corresponding numbers and slips some bills into the machine.
Thankfully, 201 and 302 are very cooperative, unlike 405.
“Thank you, you didn’t have to pay for those,” you say, your fingers brushing against his as you accept Seungkwan’s granola bar and your bag of chips. The faint contact sends an unexpected jolt through your chest, one you force yourself to ignore.
“Oh, it’s not for free,” Joshua replies, his lips curling into a smile that’s soft yet pointed. “You owe me a coffee from next door.”
You blink at him, caught off guard. “Tomorrow morning, then?”
He nods his head slightly, a gesture so casual it almost feels calculated. “How about today, after work?”
Your heart stutters. The way he’s looking at you—his eyes shining, eyebrows raised a little, with a faint crease between his brows—feels strange. It’s somewhat vulnerable, like he’s waiting for something.
No, surely not. Surely, he’s not—
The thought dies before it can fully form, drowned out by the thundering sound of your heartbeat.
“Sure,” you manage to squeak out, your voice embarrassingly small in the space between you.
His smile widens, but there’s a flicker of something else in his expression. Relief? Satisfaction?
You swallow hard and grip the snacks in your hands like they’re a lifeline. You need to get a hold of yourself. Joshua Hong is not asking you out. He’s just nice. That’s all.
────୨ৎ──── Wednesday
“You’re joking. You’re actually joking.” Seungkwan’s voice rings throughout his waterlogged apartment.
“Most unfortunately, I’m not.” You blink, feeling a droplet of sweat getting dangerously close to your eyes.
You carefully wipe the sweat that’s gathered at your forehead using your forearm, since your hands are gloved up. You definitely don’t want the nasty residue from the rubber gloves getting on your face.
Seungkwan glares. “You didn’t tell me that you were on a date with You Know Who! Otherwise, I wouldn’t have called you.”
“Well, you did,” you say exasperatedly, grabbing an antique-looking lamp and lightly placing it in the box of items to throw away.
“Tell me what happened, exactly. Don’t leave a single thing out!” Seungkwan barks, waving at you from across the room, where he’s dismantling a chair to put in the box.
In the middle of clearing out Seungkwan's damp furniture, your mind drifts back to yesterday afternoon, to the cafe where…
────୨ৎ────
…The soft hum of coffee grinders and the steady chatter of customers make you feel warm inside, easing the tension from earlier that morning. You sit across from Joshua at a tiny table near the main window, taking in how the late afternoon sun casts a golden glow over his face. He looks like royalty, and you think you could watch him for forever.
He’s nursing a cappuccino, his slender fingers tracing absent patterns on the side of the mug, while you sip on a mocha latte, its foam already starting to lose its shape. Staring at the latte, you think it’s about time you moved on from small talk.
“You really didn’t have to pay for my drink,” you say, though your voice lacks conviction. It’s hard to argue with him when he wields his secret weapon every time.
He smiles, that same boyish, disarming grin he always gives you. “It’s just coffee. I get you one almost every day, y’know?”
“Yeah, but I was supposed to—”
“Exactly,” he interrupts, eyes sparkling. “Think of it as payback. For all the mornings you made brighter just by showing up.”
Your cheeks warm at his words, heat spreading down your neck as you lower your gaze to the coffee table, suddenly fascinated by the faint scratch marks on its surface. “You’re too nice,” you manage, the words feeling as flimsy as tissue paper.
“Only to you,” he says, and though his tone is light, the words feel impossibly heavy. Like they’re carrying something you’re both too afraid to name.
Your heart twists violently as your eyes snap up to meet his. The way he’s looking at you—steady, unyielding—makes your breath hitch. This is Joshua, you remind yourself, the nicest guy you’ve ever met. And yet, you can’t ignore the way it feels like he’s waiting for something. For you.
“You don’t mean that. I don’t believe that.” The words spill out before you can stop them, shaky and uneven. But even as you say them, a part of you aches with the knowledge that it’s not entirely true.
Because deep down, you want to believe him. You want to hold onto the idea that he’s different with you, that the warmth in his voice and the way he looks at you isn’t just another facet of his kindness but something more.
But that hope is dangerous.
If you believe him and you’re wrong—if this is just Joshua being Joshua, warm and selfless to everyone he meets—it’ll break you. So instead, you tell yourself that it’s impossible. That he can’t mean it.
You clutch onto every reason why: the way he always holds the door open for others, how he buys coffee for the entire team sometimes, the way he seems to know exactly what to say to make anyone smile. It’s who he is, you think, not just with you.
The idea of reading too much into his words—of exposing your heart only to realize you’ve misunderstood everything—is unbearable. So you push it away, burying the small flicker of hope before it has a chance to grow.
But even as you deny him, there’s a quiver in your voice, a hesitation that gives you away.
He leans forward slightly, his arms resting on the table, shrinking the distance between you. “You should. Don’t you ever wonder why?”
Your breath catches. His words hang in the air, heavy and charged, and for a second, you think he’s about to say something that will upend everything you’ve convinced yourself to believe about him.
“Joshua, I—”
Before you can finish, your phone buzzes loudly on the table, shattering the moment.
You scramble to grab it, breaking eye contact as you glance at the screen.
It reads: “Kwannie Kwannie Kwannie.”
You sigh deeply but answer the call, putting the phone to your ear. “What?”
“Help!” Seungkwan’s voice comes through in a panicked shriek. You take the phone a few inches away from your ear, wincing at the sound, then stiffen. His tone did not sound like one of his regular, made-up crises. Bringing your phone closer to your ear, you hear him shout. “My apartment’s flooding! There’s water up to my knees, my coach is floating! I don’t know what to do! Jihoon’s useless with this kind of stuff, and you’re the only person who knows where my emergency shutoff is—”
“Okay, okay, breathe. 4-7-8 method. I’ll be right there,” you say, shooting up from your chair.
Joshua watches you, his brows knitting together in concern. “Everything okay?”
“Seungkwan’s apartment is flooding. I have to go help him,” you explain, grabbing your bag.
“I’ll come with you,” he immediately offers, already standing.
“No, it’s fine. I’ve got it.” You force a smile, though you’re still buzzing with the tension of whatever had just happened. “Thanks for the coffee.”
Before he can respond, you rush out the door, heart racing—not just from Seungkwan’s crisis, but from the words Joshua almost said. You hear him calling your name, but you’re unable to bring yourself to look back, afraid you’d cave.
If you had, you would’ve seen a crestfallen Joshua still standing by the table, frozen in place...
────୨ৎ────
...Seungkwan drops a chair leg.
If the water hadn’t already been drained (by you, yesterday, when you figured out how to use Seungkwan’s emergency shutoff valve), the metal leg would have made a small splash and floated in knee-deep waters. Instead, it fell obnoxiously loudly onto Seungkwan’s hardwood floor, ringing throughout the half-empty apartment with full force.
“Ah! Seungkwan!” You jump, nearly dropping your drill, which you had been using to unscrew the legs of the coffee table while retelling what had happened Tuesday afternoon.
“He was about to confess,” Seungkwan says slowly and robotically, as if caught in a trance.
You can’t bring yourself to deny it.
“He was about to confess,” he repeats.
Letting out a major sigh, you hop up onto the dining table, tapping it. “You know, we have to dismantle this too.”
“He was about to confess!” His sudden shout startles you again. “And where the hell is Woozi when we need him?”
“Probably on his way, as he was when you checked 20 minutes ago?” you say dryly.
“He needs to get a load of this. I was right!” Seungkwan waves the chair leg in the air triumphantly, far too close to the ceiling for comfort.
“Dude,” you laugh, “you’re going to scratch the ceiling, put it down!”
Seungkwan pouts. “But this is my victory leg.”
“Tell that to Woozi,” you grin. “I think you should show him the leg, first thing.”
He lights up. “Excellent idea.”
All of a sudden, you hear someone knocking on Seungkwan’s door. Jumping off of the table, you skip across the living room down to the narrow main hallway. Once you reach the door, you crack it open a few inches—as far as the chain link will let you.
“Woozi, you’re so late!” Your face breaks out into a smile upon seeing your friend.
“My bad,” Jihoon says with a chuckle.
“`Y’know, Kwannie has a big surprise for you?”
“I can’t wait,” he says with a sigh. “How bad is the damage?”
“See for yourself.” You take down the chain lock and swing the door fully open with a smile, only to falter at the sight of the one person you thought you’d successfully avoided all day.
Joshua.
For there he was.
“Here to help,” he says shyly, hands folded behind his back.
You give Jihoon a panicked look.
Jihoon explains, “I was heading out of the office when I caught him in the hallway. He said he was down to help Seungkwan, and I figured the more, the merrier.”
The sight of Joshua standing in Seungkwan’s doorway makes your stomach drop. It’s like all the tension from earlier has come rushing back in, this time amplified by the unexpectedness of his arrival.
You plaster on a polite smile, though you’re sure it looks more like a grimace. “Great,” you manage to choke out, turning on autopilot to lead him and Jihoon down the hallway.
But inside, your thoughts are spiraling. What is he doing here? Does he know you’ve been avoiding him all day? Did Jihoon tell him anything on the way over?
Your chest tightens as you think about Seungkwan waiting in the living room, blissfully unaware of Joshua’s presence. You can already imagine the chaos—Seungkwan, ever the open book, accidentally blurting out something incriminating.
What if he says something about the coffee shop? What if he mentions the way you couldn’t stop talking about Joshua just now?
You’re half a step ahead of them, your mind racing through ways to keep the situation from unraveling, but drawing nothing but blanks.
But then, out of the corner of your eye, you catch a glimpse of Joshua. He’s walking casually beside Jihoon, his hands tucked into his pockets, a beanie snug on his head. He looks different, less polished than usual, but still effortlessly himself. And for a moment, you falter.
Because despite your panic, there’s a part of you that’s almost glad he’s here. A part of you that can’t help but wonder what it means that he came at all.
When you reach the living room, you come to a hard stop, frantically making a small X with your arms.
But Seungkwan has his attention focused on that blasted chair leg, and of course, he immediately opens with: “Guess who has the biggest news of all time! The biggest action since the Great Orange Plaza Incident—”
Cue the obnoxiously loud laughter from you. “Joshua’s here! Say hi!”
Seungkwan turns to the hallway, where, indeed, Joshua is standing. Shocked, he drops the metal leg, and it announces its contact with the ground through a loud clang.
Wincing at the sound like earlier, you accidentally shift your body backward into someone behind you.
“Sorry,” you say, hoping it was Jihoon.
His arms come up to grasp your waist, holding you steady.
“No worries,” comes Joshua’s voice.
You shut your eyes, somehow both drowning in embarrassment and burning up at the spot where he’s touched you.
You quickly step out of his hold, trying not to let your flustered state show. “Right,” you say, clearing your throat. “Let’s go now.”
Joshua chuckles softly, his voice like velvet. “그래, 바로 가자.” Right, let’s go straight away.
Seungkwan, thankfully, is too caught up in his shock to notice the moment, though Jihoon raises a single eyebrow in quiet observation.
As you guide Joshua and Jihoon into the living room, you internally rehearse all the ways you can deflect or redirect the inevitable awkwardness. But before you can settle on anything, Joshua is already rolling up his sleeves. You avert your eyes from his biceps.
“What needs moving?” he asks.
You glance around the room, desperate for something to hand off to him. Your eyes land on the dining table—big, heavy, and far too ambitious for one person to handle. Perfect. “The dining table,” you say, trying to sound casual. “We need to get it downstairs to the lobby for pickup.”
Seungkwan perks up. “Oh, that thing’s a beast. Good luck.”
“I’ll help,” Joshua says immediately, a soft smile playing on his lips as he looks at you.
You blink, caught off guard. “Uh, okay. You and Woozi can move it.”
But Jihoon smirks, catching on. “Actually, I just remembered I promised to help Seungkwan with,” his voice trails. “Something else. You’ve got this, right?”
Before you can protest, Jihoon grabs the metal chair leg and joins Seungkwan in the corner, leaving you and Joshua alone with the daunting table.
“Looks like it’s just us,” Joshua says, his teasing smile widening.
You swallow thickly, resigned. “Okay. Let’s get this over with.”
Together, you begin maneuvering the table toward the hallway. It’s heavy and awkward, and you struggle to find a good grip on the edges.
“Here,” Joshua says, dropping his side of the table and moving closer. His hands brush over yours as he adjusts your grip, lingering for a moment longer than necessary. “That should help.”
The contact sends a jolt through you, but you force yourself to focus. “Thanks,” you mumble, your voice barely above a whisper.
By some miracle, the table fits in the elevator, though the tight space forces you and Joshua closer together. You’re much too aware of how little distance there is between you, the faint scent of his cologne making your heart race even faster.
“This reminds me of Monday morning,” Joshua says suddenly, his voice soft.
Your head snaps up to meet his gaze. What is he talking about? The elevator? The coat? Both?
He nods, his expression unreadable. “Yeah. I’ve been meaning to talk to you about that.”
Your stomach twists. “What about it?” you ask cautiously.
His eyes searching yours. “I just,” he hesitates for a moment, before continuing. “I feel like we keep dancing around something. Don’t you?”
Your breath catches, and suddenly the space feels even smaller. “What do you mean?”
Joshua steps just a fraction closer, his voice dropping to a near whisper. “I mean,” he pauses for a second or two before picking up again. “This. Us. I feel like there’s something you’re not saying. And I’m not sure if I should say it first.”
The elevator dings, announcing your arrival at the lobby, but neither of you moves.
You swallow hard, your heart pounding in your chest. “Shua, I—”
Before you can finish, the doors slide open, and an older woman waiting outside peers in, her curious gaze snapping you both out of the moment.
“Uh, sorry,” you stammer, quickly stepping out with your end of the table.
Joshua follows, but you can feel his eyes on you, his earlier words hanging heavy in the air.
As the two of you set the table down near the designated pickup area, he leans in slightly, his voice low. “This isn’t over.”
Your heart threatens to jump out of your chest, but you force yourself to nod, avoiding his gaze. “Yeah. Okay.”
Even as you head back to Seungkwan’s apartment, your mind is racing with the possibilities of what he might say—and whether you’re ready to hear it.
As you reenter Seungkwan’s apartment, the weight of Joshua’s words hangs like a thick fog in the air. It’s almost suffocating, the way your heart beats erratically at the thought of what he might say next.
You glance over your shoulder, half-expecting Joshua to be right behind you, but he's still out by the lobby. The sound of Seungkwan and Jihoon’s voices floats down the hallway as they continue their discussion, oblivious to the tension that’s spiraling in your chest.
You step inside, but you can’t shake the feeling that everything is about to change. Joshua’s words—“This isn’t over”—echo in your mind, repeating with every beat of your heart. What did he mean? What does he expect?
“Everything okay?” Seungkwan calls from the living room, looking up with a raised brow as you walk in.
“Yeah,” you chirp, trying to act normal, but your voice comes out too high.
He narrows his eyes. “You sure? You look a little off. Everything go well?” It’s unsaid, but you know there’s a “with Joshua” attached to the end of his sentence.
You force a smile, but it’s shaky at best. “Yeah, the table's gone now.” You can’t tell him. Not yet. Not with the weight of Joshua’s unspoken words still pressing against your chest.
Seungkwan studies you for a moment, his gaze flickering toward the hallway. “I’ll take your word for it. So, you two, huh?”
Your eyes widen involuntarily, and you try to laugh it off. “아니, 아니! 그런거 아니야, it’s really not like that.”
Seungkwan raises an eyebrow, clearly not buying it. “Uh-huh. Sure. Anyway, me and Jihoon are going to go to the bar. Want to come?”
The offer hangs in the air, and you realize, suddenly, that it’s the perfect distraction. You need space from your own thoughts. You need to calm your racing heart. Maybe getting out of here will help.
“I’ll go,” you blurt, before you can second-guess yourself. “Haven’t gone weekday drinking in a while. Let me just grab my bag.”
Seungkwan gives you a knowing look but says nothing more. As you step into the hallway to grab your bag off a high-hanging hook, your mind is still whirling with the unanswered questions about Joshua.
Walking further down the hallway, you find Seungkwan and Joshua standing near Jihoon.
Jihoon’s already at the door, his hand on the handle. “Come on, let’s go. I need some drinks in my system after today.”
You nod, attempting to shove your thoughts away for the night. The cool air outside greets you, and the cacophony of the city feels like a welcome distraction. As you make your way to the bar, Seungkwan and Jihoon immediately dive into their usual banter, but your mind is elsewhere. You keep glancing over at Joshua, who seems uncharacteristically quiet tonight, his usually playful energy subdued.
By the time you reach the bar and order drinks, you’re beginning to relax. Maybe it’s the alcohol, or maybe it’s the fact that you don’t have to think about what’s going on between you and Joshua, but you can’t help but feel like you’re walking a thin line between tension and relief.
But as the night goes on, Seungkwan and Jihoon quickly fall into drunken antics, leaving you and Joshua alone on the quieter side of the bar. The air between you both is thick, like an invisible thread is pulling you closer, yet neither of you dares to speak.
You fiddle with your glass, wondering if you should speak up first. You only have so much courage, though.
Thankfully, Joshua clears his throat, his voice low. “넌 좀,” he hesitates for a bit, before deciding to call you out, “조용한데?”
Well, it’s no secret that you’re being quiet. He was, too, at least until now.
You glance up, meeting his gaze for the first time since earlier. His eyes are intense, his lips pulled into that soft, half-smile you know and adore.
“I’ve been thinking about what you said earlier,” you murmur, your voice barely above a whisper. The words hang between you like a dare.
Joshua leans in just slightly, his breath warm against your cheek. “What part?”
Your heart races, but you hold his gaze. “About how this isn’t over?”
He’s quiet for a beat, then smiles—just a little. “I meant what I said.”
And in that moment, you realize you’re in way deeper than you thought.
You swallow hard, feeling the weight of his words settle in your chest, like a stone sinking deep into water. You want to ask him more, to press him, to demand answers, but the words feel trapped in your throat. Instead, you look away, fidgeting with the rim of your glass, your fingers tracing the condensation. The alcohol has started to mellow your nerves, but the tension still hovers in the air between you two, thick and almost palpable.
“You’ve been quiet too,” you manage to say, keeping your voice steady despite the jittery feeling in your stomach. “What’s on your mind?”
Joshua doesn’t answer right away, his gaze flickering toward the noisy group in the corner where Seungkwan and Jihoon are laughing too loudly, practically leaning on each other for support. The laughter echoes in the background, a sharp contrast to the quiet bubble that has formed around you and Joshua.
It’s the kind of moment that feels too intimate, too close to the edge of something that could change everything.
“I don’t know,” he says finally, and his voice is soft, thoughtful. “I guess I’m trying to figure out if you’re really as clueless as you act, or if you’re just pretending.” His eyes meet yours, and there's something almost vulnerable in his gaze, a flicker of hesitation that’s rare for him.
You feel your heart skip a beat, caught off guard by the question. “Clueless?” You repeat, the word tasting strange on your tongue. “I’m not clueless.”
“그래? Are you sure about that?” he asks, his smile barely there, his tone teasing but with an edge of something else—something deeper.
You narrow your eyes, a little irritated by how easily he toys with you. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” you say, and then immediately regret it. It sounds too defensive, too much like you’re trying to cover something up.
Joshua leans in slightly, his expression serious now, no longer playful. “I think you do. I think you’re scared.” His voice drops, barely above a whisper, but it lands like a truth you can’t deny. “You’re scared of what might happen if you admit what you feel.”
Your breath catches in your throat. The world feels like it slows down, the noise of the bar fading into the background as his words settle in your mind. The truth in them stings, and you don’t know how to respond.
He’s right, but you don’t want to admit it.
Not yet.
Not to him.
Before you can say anything, Seungkwan stumbles over, dragging Jihoon along with him. “You two are too quiet,” Seungkwan says with a grin, clearly tipsy. “What’s going on here? Trying to plot against us?”
Joshua straightens up quickly, his smile returning to its usual playful, disarming self. “Nothing like that, we were just talking,” he replies, his voice smooth and easy.
You take a deep breath, trying to push the moment away, but the tension still lingers in your chest. You force a smile, though it feels weak. “Yeah, just talking.”
Jihoon gives you both a sideways look, too drunk to notice the underlying current between you and Joshua. “You two really are something, huh?”
Seungkwan laughs, waving a hand as if dismissing Jihoon’s comment. “Yeah, yeah, don’t mind them. They’re just having a little ‘moment,’” he says, emphasizing the last word with air quotes.
You don’t know whether to laugh or to cry. Contrary to Seungkwan’s comment, the moment’s long gone now, robbed by the chaos of their antics. But you can’t shake the feeling that something has shifted, that you and Joshua are standing on the edge of something—something both terrifying and irresistible.
And for the first time, you decide that you’re ready to see where it leads.
────୨ৎ──── Thursday
You wake up on Thursday with a start, the events from last night already feeling faraway. Joshua had dropped you off, and you had spent most of the night restlessly thinking of him, going over how to confess.
The bright morning light filters through the blinds, causing you to squint at the time on your alarm clock. It’s much earlier than you’d usually get up. You fight the urge to go back to sleep.
With resolve, you push yourself up off your bed and run through your morning routine with extra care. And by the time your last alarm rings, you’re ready to tell him.
You walk over to the front door, waiting for the telltale signs of movement coming from the apartment next door. Only, you hear nothing. Not even footsteps shuffling around.
Your elevator ride is silent. Your bus ride is silent.
Joshua had left before you’d even woken up—and you’d woken up pretty damn early—and his absence only made you more aware of the pressing silence between the two of you.
When you reach your cubicle, your eyes graze over the desk repeatedly, finding something is wrong.
“Hey, what’s gotten into you?” Jihoon asks from the cubicle next to you.
“Nothing.” Everything.
You stare at the spot where Joshua puts a cup of coffee from the cafe next door every day. It’s empty.
“설마,” you whisper. No way. Did he decide to drop you because you didn’t answer him? But what else could explain his radio silence? You haven’t gone to work alone in over a month.
“설마 what?” Seungkwan asks, dropping into his office chair to the left of you at 9 on the dot.
When you don’t answer, he asks Jihoon, “What’s going on over here?”
Jihoon shrugs. “Probably drama with You Know Who.”
“Oh,” he says, and the two of them drop it.
Before you know it, the clock has hit 5pm, and you’ve spent the entire workday soullessly typing on your keyboard, lifting your head up every time you’ve seen movement in the room. Only, the man you were looking for was nowhere to be seen.
You miss the stolen glances and bright smiles you used to exchange. The silence had been stifling. You really did want to talk to him, to clear the air today, but he just never showed. Heart sinking, you pack up your bag and put on your coat. You stall for a moment remembering how he’d given you his coat just a few days prior. Did he really decide to give up because you weren’t responding well?
The bus ride back to your apartment is silent, but your head is full of speculative thoughts. When the driver announces your stop, your heart settles into a newfound determination.
Maybe he could let go, but you can’t. You won’t let him go.
“I’ll just barge in! Say my piece, then let him talk,” you mumble under your breath, pushing the lobby doors open.
Is it a good plan? You aren’t sure, but hopefully he’d forgive you for being hesitant for so long. You honestly don’t know how he did it—how he was able to stand your wishy-washiness?
Eyes tracing the ground, you make a beeline for the elevator, continuing your whispers. “And what am I going to say? God, I need a good opening line. Something like, please please take me back? Actually, we were never dating, so I guess that doesn’t make sense. Please please like me back? Is that too desperate? Well, I am desperate, so—”
Out of the corner, you see the elevator beginning to close.
“Hold the doors, please!” you shout, running as fast as you can. Speed is of the essence, so you can confront him as soon as possible.
You make it across half the lobby in record time, panting as you enter the elevator.
“Thank,” you say in between breaths, hands on your knees, “you—”
When you look up, your heart stops.
Joshua Hong. Dressed dapper in an all black suit and carrying, of all things, a briefcase?
“Shua?” you say breathlessly, immediately straightening.
Joshua looks down, his usual calm expression faltering for just a second when he sees you out of breath. For a moment, the two of you simply stand there in silence, the elevator’s gentle hum filling the space between you.
“Where were you?” you ask, your voice quieter than you'd intended, a hint of nervousness creeping in despite your earlier determination.
Joshua clears his throat, a slight blush creeping onto his cheeks. “Director Chun had me accompany him to the Lee meeting. You?” he asks, his gaze softening as he watches you catch your breath.
Your mouth suddenly feels dry. The reality of the situation hits you hard.
This was it.
This was the moment.
But now that you’re face to face with him, you’re unsure of what to say. You should’ve prepared a real speech, practiced your words properly. Instead, the dreaded silence lingers.
“I,” your voice trails off. “I just—” You let out a shaky breath, then shake your head as if to clear the mess of thoughts swirling inside. “I’ve been thinking a lot. About things. About us.”
Joshua tilts his head slightly, a glimmer of curiosity in his eyes. “About us?”
You nod, trying to steady your breath. The elevator seems to be going slower than usual, as if the universe itself is giving you more time to process, to speak. You feel a strange mix of nerves and determination pushing you forward.
“I didn’t handle things right. I was,” you pause for a moment, carefully choosing your next words. “Unsure. Confused. And I thought maybe if I stayed quiet, I’d be able to ignore everything. But I can’t,” you say, the words finally coming out in a rush. “I can’t ignore you. I don’t want to.”
Joshua’s eyes soften, his posture shifting, his briefcase clutched tightly in his hands. “You’re not the only one who’s been confused,” he admits, his voice low, almost vulnerable. “I didn’t know what to do either, but I couldn’t let you slip away without at least trying. I care about you. A lot.”
The elevator jerks suddenly, and you both look up in surprise as the lights flicker. A loud noise rings through the space, and with a groan, the elevator comes to an abrupt halt. You both freeze, and your heart jumps into your throat.
“Shit,” you gasp, instinctively taking a step back from the elevator doors, but your foot catches in a brief moment of panic, and before you know it, you’re pulled toward Joshua.
He catches you effortlessly, his hand impossibly warm at your back, steadying you as you stumble. “괜찮아?” His voice is gentle but concerned.
You can’t help but laugh nervously, shaking your head. “Yeah, I’m okay.”
For a moment, the two of you simply stand there, him holding you in his arms, your heart still racing from the shock. Then you both realize the situation. No Wi-Fi. No way to call for help. Just the two of you, stuck in this tiny box, the tension thick in the air. The sound of your heavy breathing fills the silence as the elevator remains motionless.
Joshua clears his throat, his voice teasing again. “Well, if you think about it, this isn’t that new.”
In response, you lightly laugh, thinking back to all the times throughout the week where he's kept you steady. The you of Monday morning never would have thought you’d be in this position now, not to mention the you of two months ago.
You glance up at him, mind still racing. The unexpected turn of events had thrust you into a corner. And yet, in some strange way, you felt it was just the kind of moment the two of you needed.
Alone.
No distractions.
No running away.
“Well, at least we have some time to talk now, huh?” you say with a small, tentative smile.
Joshua meets your gaze, his eyes full of understanding. “Yeah. Looks like we do.”
And for the first time in days, the silence doesn’t feel suffocating. Instead, it feels like an opportunity, a moment to finally clear the air.
────୨ৎ──── Friday
You’ve been in the elevator for hours, but it doesn’t feel like it. Somehow, conversation just flows.
“I liked you first,” you find yourself saying, voice barely above a whisper as you rest your head on his shoulder.
“그래?” comes Joshua’s soft reply, so close that you can feel the vibrations in his chest. Really?
You can’t believe he even has to ask. Yes, really. You were so obvious about it. So affected by him that you couldn’t even look at the stuffed bunny he’d gotten you on Sunday, reminded of his soft, kind eyes.
So you nod, “Mm-hm.”
Your eyes flutter shut for a moment, your body still adjusting to the peaceful rhythm of being near him. You’d been thinking about this for the longest time, but now it feels so natural, so certain, and you can’t help but regret all the time you’d spent secretly pining over him. God, you’d even asked him to stop being so nice to you out of pure desperation. Who does that?
“Since when?” His voice is smooth, warm, like a soft melody, and you can’t help but feel drowsy with the way it lulls you into comfort.
You pause, eyes drifting to the floor of the elevator as you try to gather your thoughts. “Since when?” you repeat, the memory taking you back.
It was a chaotic day, the kind of day where everything felt so loud and full of people. You were at that welcome party for the new transfer—Joshua—but it had been too overwhelming. So, you’d slipped away, finding solace in the quiet of the cafe next door. You’d gotten a coffee to-go, and you sat outside on a bench, letting the world pass you by as you listened to your audiobook. That was your kind of perfect Saturday.
You never saw him that day.
But you did see him a week later, in the hallway of your apartment building. You’d just locked your door, ready to head out when you noticed the man next door fumbling with his own keys. His moving process had seemed slow, but that day, you finally got to exchange quick introductions before stepping into the elevator together. And somehow, in that brief exchange, you found yourself already falling, the way his laugh filled the space between you, the way you both laughed at the coincidences stacking up—the apartment, the floor, the building, the department. It was electric, the start of something special.
You glance up at him now, still leaning against his shoulder. “When we first met, in the hallway,” you finally say, voice soft.
Joshua smiles, a glint of fondness in his eyes. “That was when we first met?”
You furrow your brows, confused. “Wasn’t it?”
Joshua laughs quietly, the sound like a comforting hum in the otherwise still elevator. “I remember differently,” he says, poking your cheek gently.
You tilt your head. “If not the hallway, what was it?”
“The first day I came here, sweets,” he says, his fingers brushing a lock of your hair from your face.
Your mind races, wondering if you’ve forgotten an important memory. “But we didn’t meet, did we?”
Joshua hums, the kind of hum that carries a story behind it. “I guess you didn’t see me, but I saw you.”
You blink, unsure if you heard him right. “When?”
He leans back slightly, eyes distant as if replaying the scene in his head. “I remember being bombarded by all the office workers. God, it was so chaotic. I couldn’t breathe. I had to get out, so I said some BS excuse about needing a drink.” He chuckles softly, then his expression shifts, softer now. “I went to the drink station by the window, grabbed whatever they had, and just stared out. I was wondering how long I could hide before it was socially acceptable to go home, when I saw you.”
You shift, intrigued by his words.
“You sat outside on the bench. You weren’t even aware of the crowd inside, just focused on,” he pauses, thinking of the right word, before continuing, “Existing? Listening to something, I guess. I watched you for a while. You were so still, so peaceful in the middle of all that noise. It made me stop and think. I’ve never really done that before. I’ve always been in ‘go, go, go’ mode. But there you were, just being, and I don’t know. I think that’s when I started thinking about you.”
His words settle over you like a blanket, warm and unexpected.
“I decided then to keep giving you coffee after that,” Joshua adds with a shrug. “You’re my elevator to my small enlightenment, if you will. You made me slow down, sweets.”
At that, your heart flutters in your chest. “I never knew,” you murmur. “I thought you were just nice to everyone. All this time, you’ve been looking at me like I’ve been looking at you.”
Joshua smiles softly, his fingers brushing against yours. “I’ve been thinking about you for a lot longer than you’ve been thinking of me.”
“Only a week!” you protest.
Joshua’s eyes shine as he looks at you, crinkling into crescents. His hands steadily clasp yours, thumb rubbing against the back of your left hand. “Still think I’m too nice?”
“No,” you say, burying your face in his chest. “Keep being nice to me.”
When the elevator finally dings, and you can hear firefighters shouting things past the doors, it’s a few minutes past 12am. But neither of you moves, content in making up for lost time late into the night.

SVT with a shy s/o.
Genre: fluff
a/n: definitely not self indulgent.

Seungcheol, Mingyu, Jeonghan
The way your eyes wander when he tries to make any romantic gestures for you stirs something inside of him. It's the way you won't meet his eye with the subtlety of you red cheeks that makes him go crazy. He wouldn't want to pressure you, but he would definitely tease you just to get the reactions he craves. He would definitely be the type that raises your chin with one finger when he finds that you're not looking at him just to see you melting.
Jun, Seungkwan, Joshua
He would go completely slow with you just to ensure that you feel comfortable. He knows what it's like to suddenly be pushed out of his comfort zone so he would sort of walk you through it. He would encourage you to try new things and he'd also make sure that you made eye contact with him, because the eyes always convey feelings that can not be said. He wants to know everything about you at once, he wants to hear you laugh loudly, but despite that he tries to hold himself back so you could slowly walk these steps on your own. After all, comfort is essential in any relationship.
Minghao, Wonwoo, Jihoon, Vernon
He'd be totally chill about it. He'd definitely remind you that shyness shouldn't drive you away from trying new things or reaching your goals. He'd be so understanding. From time to time, he would perhaps say something flirty just to throw you off for a moment but it would never be something to make you uncomfortable. Just to rile you up a bit and to see that slight furrow of your eyebrows as your face turns tomato-red. And when he catches you secretly looking at him, he gives you a little smirk that could make your knees go weak.
Hoshi, Dino, Seokmin
He'd definitely be the type to make you forget your shy nature for a moment. He would bring out that wildness that lies within you, that even you didn't know existed. His energy would be contagious and as you get to know each other more, you slowly get used to the contrast between you two and you would even start to match his energy day by day.

— choking hazard | h.js
⋆ pairings; joshua x fem! reader ⋆ genre; smut, fluff, humor, friends to lovers (?) ⋆ w.c; 3.7k+ ⋆ warnings; intoxication (liquor), mention of walking in on chan, josh is lovingly annoying, big dick! josh, tipsy sex, oral (m. receiving), face-fucking, unprotected sex (she's on pills), reader can be picked up, rough sex, creampie ⋆ a/n; im thankful for @nonuify, @chwepen, @okiedokrie and @whipped-for-kpop-fics for collectively losing it with me while talking about big dick! josh. without them, this wouldn't have been posted lol. xoxo, enjoy <3

“i don't believe a single shit that you just spewed.”
you scoff at your close friend seated on the camping chair adjacent to yours.
“hey, i'm just saying the truth.” Joshua defends himself with a shrug. his smile looks almost angelic under the glistening cascades of moonlight and the dying campfire.
almost is the key word. because there's a glint of something else lurking underneath his dilated pupils. he takes a sip from the canned beer, and a few drops trickle down his chin. he wipes it off with his sleeve.
“your dick is a choking hazard? and a girl you slept with, told her friends that?”
“yep, that's right.” he hides his smirk behind the beer can. it seems that the liquor in your system is doing tricks on you as you watch his eyes dip down to the exposed skin of your collarbones.
you can’t help but laugh at his affirmation. your cheeks puff up, and your eyes crinkle as you do so. Joshua loves your laughter, and it makes him laugh as well. but he can only tongue his cheek now, watching you keel over with laughter.
“i’m sorry, Josh. that’s the most out-of-pocket shit someone could say.” you take a breather and try to calm down. “how did we land on the topic of cock, again?”
it’s almost midnight. most of your friends have fallen asleep or are in their tents, scrolling through their phones. which leaves you and Joshua outside, watching the fire trickle down to embers and drinking the last cans of beer till you both pass out.
but somehow, the conversation has changed lanes to your friend’s diabolical cock size.
“because you told me that you walked in on Chan jerking off and didn’t expect him to be ‘oh so huge!’” he mimics your voice, and you slap his shoulder while he laughs.
“well, i still don’t believe you. so,” you blow a raspberry at him and turn away to look at the sky. you are barely tipsy but feel light-headed because of the long hike and how spent your body is. the last thing you want on your mind is Joshua’s cock.
but it’s safe to say that you’re intrigued.
“you don’t have to,” his voice echoes with a strum of his guitar. he must’ve picked it up again. but you don’t look at him. especially not with the way you’re all hot and bothered right now.
“you just have to see it.” you choke on your saliva and make the mistake of turning your head. he has shifted closer to you, his hair tickles your cheeks, and you see his eyes trained on your lips.
“calm down, player.” you huff and back off. but it’s you who needs to calm down. joshua appears very calm and collected with his sweet smile and shit. but you’re not buying any of that.
“player?” his voice raises a pitch before he chuckles with a husky timbre. and his low voice sends shivers down your spine straight to your core. you tighten your thighs and wish that he doesn't notice it.
“hey, it's not my fault people mistake my kindness for something more.”
“kindness? oh forgive me for not knowing that making out with every girl is an act of kindness.”
“you sound like you’re jealous.”
he whispers into your ear. and you notice his closeness only now. his knee presses into yours as he manspreads, and he leans into your frame. the smell of beer and his signature scent hits your nose, forcing you to take a deep breath of fresh air.
in your moment of silence, Joshua confirms his answer. “so you are jealous.”
you don’t answer and shift in your chair, trying not to cast your gaze on his thighs. or, more specifically, his cock. which you’re pretty sure would be visible against the tightness of his pants.
“uhh, i’m going to hit the bed. you should too.” that’s all you offer while walking away as fast as possible.
the path to your cabin is short, and you sigh, feeling stupid. obviously, he’s just playing. you’d have a hard time listing the girls he has not kissed because of the lack of them. maybe dares don’t count, but it’s still a blasphemous amount.
entering the cabin, you immediately take off your counselor shirt and toss it on your bed. you go through your bag, trying to find a sweatshirt you could wear.
“woah, no bra?”
you yelp in surprise and cover yourself with your hands. you don’t need to turn around to figure out who that is.
“joshua, can you not fucking knock?!”
“calm down, this is my cabin too.”
your heart palpitates when he closes the door and walks towards his bed, which is adjacent to yours. you scramble to wear any piece of cloth you can find and lie down on your bed as soon as possible.
you don’t hear a single sound from his side, so you turn in the bed to look at him. which adds to your fluster as you find him already looking at you. he doesn’t utter a word, continuing to look at you. you hold eye contact, mesmerized by the deep brown of his eyes.
“what?” you ask, voice barely above a whisper.
“just curious,” he shakes his head, eyes still gazing deep into yours.
“about?”
“how you’d look, trying to take my cock in.”
your mouth runs dry and you lick your lips, still not breaking eye contact. a fuzzy warm feeling pools in your stomach and your hard nipples graze against the material of your shirt. you sit up, done with this game of push and pull.
he follows suit, watching you walk towards him. you offer him no words and kneel on the floor while looking up at him. joshua sucks in a sharp breath, trying to contain himself. his finger grazes against your cheekbones, softly pushing back stray hairs.
he groans when you press your palm against his boner. he leans back, observing you with a lazy smile. you try not to vocalize your surprise when you confirm that Joshua is not lying. the sheer outline of his cock intimidates you. your nails dig into his thighs, and he snickers at you.
“scared, honey?” his voice is saccharine, and he looks at you with such adoration. but you know, behind that sweet mask lies something better left undisturbed.
and you’re treading on the very line that will disturb it. but it doesn’t scare you. it excites you. somehow, the thought of Joshua breaking his demeanor fills your veins with adrenaline.
more excited than scared. the response lies on the tip of your tongue, and you want to say it. the little liquor in your system gives you a confidence boost. you hook your finger under the waistband of his briefs and pull it down with one smooth pull.
his cock springs free, and you’re rendered speechless for a second. Joshua’s cock is long and girthy. his pretty pink tip oozes with pearls of precum, and he’s well-groomed. you never thought you’d describe a dick as pretty, but here you are.
you finally find the courage to wrap your hand around his length. you bite your lip, squeezing his cock that lays heavy on your hand. he shudders and sighs at your touch. you lean forward and lick the precum off his tip.
“fuck,” he curses, carding his hand through his hair. he sounds so hot, and it makes you envy all the girls he’s slept with before.
you’re still hesitant to wrap your lips around his cock, and he senses it. “want some help?” he offers, and you impatiently nod.
he chuckles, standing on his feet. you wait patiently on your knees, watching him discard his shirt.
“you think too much, you know?”
before you can ask him what he means, he slaps his cock on your cheek. any and every thought evaporates from your brain, and you can only focus on how good it feels.
you don't say anything but stare up at him with glassy eyes and an open mouth. he laughs, and a devilish tint lurks behind his irises.
“like getting slapped by my cock?” his other hand holds your nape, and you nod eagerly. you lift your hands to rest them on his thighs and close your eyes.
he tugs your hair, forcing you to look at him. “look at me.”
he slaps his cock on your face again. and again, and again. and again till you're absolutely cock drunk, begging to have him down your throat. he slaps his cock one last time on your face. you whine, digging your nails into his thighs.
he chuckles again, cooing at you. “open your mouth.”
you obey, letting your mouth hang open for him. he teases the tip of his oozing cock by rubbing it on your lower lip. you push out your tongue, causing him to chuckle. he taps his cock on your tongue before pushing the tip in.
you hum in content and suck on his tip, swirling your tongue around it. you tease his slit, tracing it with your tongue. joshua bites his lip, and his eyebrows knit in pleasure.
“fuck,” he groans, a sound that fills your heart with pride.
“gonna go a bit deeper, yeah?” you hum around his cock, and he curses.
he pushes your head down his cock, gently. you open your mouth to accommodate him, but the ache in your jaw stops you. you make a noise, stopping him. he does, waiting for you to adjust to his girth.
his fingers caress the side of your face and your nape, causing you to shiver when he brushes a sensitive spot on your neck. his other hand gently holds back your hair. you look at him, nodding your head.
you feel the ache in your jaw lessen when he pulls out, leaving only the tip in. it's soon taken away as he fills your mouth again. he continues so at a mild pace.
you swirl your tongue around his cock, and suck in your cheeks as much as you can. he goes a bit deeper, and you gag, tears pricking your eyes. he moans shamelessly, his movements a bit lazier now.
he pulls out again, and you gasp for breath. a string of saliva connects your lips to his tip. he slaps his cock on your lip, enjoying the wet feeling and sound. it sends a shiver of pleasure to your core as well, which is now soaking.
your panties stick to your core like a second skin. you're afraid that your arousal would drip down your leg. your cunt clenches around nothing and your hard nipples graze against your shirt. the thought of him fucking you fills you with ecstasy.
with your newfound enthusiasm, you move forward, taking his tip between your lips. you maintain eye contact as you do so. you bob your head up and down, gagging at times as you do so. your nails graze the back of his thighs in a pleasurable manner.
“oh god,” he stops your movements, taking a deep breath to compose himself. his abs strain and a few veins pop up at his neck.
“just—just tap my thighs thrice if it's too much, ok?” you blink and nod at him. you relax your jaw and wait for him.
even though you prepare yourself, it still takes you by surprise. he pushes his cock inside in one go and holds your head. you gag and choke, feeling tears stream down your face and drool down your chin.
his hand grips the back of your head, and you feel him twitch in your mouth. your nose brushes against his pelvis and your lips touch the base of his cock.
he feels heavy in your mouth, and you choke on him again, more tears falling from your eyes. he pulls out with ease, and you cough and breathe as much as you can.
you look like an absolute mess right now, a heavenly mess, Joshua thinks. with tears and drool coating your face, your lips swollen, and god, the fucking way you're looking at him.
“think i'm a choking hazard, yet?”
you laugh, but it's cut off when your throat hurts. he giggles and apologizes sheepishly.
“so? should i cum inside your mouth, or?” he teases.
“fuck me, please.”
he curses under his breath, pulling you up to crash his lips against yours. you fall on his bed with him hovering over you. his lips are gentle at first, but the kiss turns deep. his tongue glides over yours, and he kisses you deeply. the ache between your legs grows as you feel his tongue slide over the places his cock was touching a few seconds ago.
his hand wraps around your neck gently, and he squeezes the side occasionally. he pulls away, gasping for air. his chest is pressed to yours, and you feel his heart hammering the way yours does.
his cock grazes against the skin of your thighs, heightening your arousal. “joshua, please fuck me, already.” you whine, nails scratching his back.
“so impatient,” he smiles, kissing your forehead.
he helps remove your shirt and groans at the sight of your hardened nipples. his hands fly to your chest to fondle and squeeze your breasts. he rolls the bud between his fingers and flicks them gently.
he glides his hand down your waist till he finds the hem of your shorts and pulls it down. you relax on his bed with a sigh. it feels so erotic to spread your legs in front of someone you deem a good friend. not to mention that you were choking on said friend's cock a few minutes ago.
you don't miss the smirk that plays on his lips as he observes your stained panties. and it makes you shy, causing you to close your legs, but he stops you. his hands resting on your inner thigh to spread your legs out.
he slowly removes the only clothing left on your body. the arousal sticks to your panty as he peels it off you. he tosses the cloth away and massages your inner thighs, slowly working up his way to your folds.
his fingers prod between your folds, rubbing them up and down and feeling the wetness of your soaking cunt. his thumb brushes your clit, and you fold your legs, bringing them closer to your chest.
he circles your clit, sending waves of pleasure through your body. he leans down to kiss your cunt, and lick the arousal dripping down it.
“not now,” you push his head away, way too eager to take his cock. he kisses your folds before finally pulling away. he looks up at you, smiling softly, but you don’t miss the mischief swirling in his eyes. he kisses your lips again, hands wandering down your body.
his cock presses on your thighs, and you whimper, almost begging for him. “we don’t have condoms, though. is that fine?”
“yes, i’m on pills.” you say in a nasal tone, your own hands discovering his body.
“and as long as you don’t have any virus, i’m fine.” you finish, looking at him dead in the eye. he scoffs, rolling his eyes. “i kiss, ok? i don’t get dirty as often.”
“if you say so,” you sing, pulling him closer and pressing your chest to his.
“fuck.” he whispers, slotting his lips on yours.
he breaks the kiss and rubs your thighs. he adores you with his eyes before moving away to align himself to your entrance. he rubs his tip on your folds, and you gasp. “this is gonna hurt a bit,”
and god does it fucking hurt. you have seen guys with his length before, but the girth takes your breath away. you moan with a moan to your eyes and curl to your toes. joshua rubs your nub to distract you from the pain. his other hand strokes your thigh and stomach gently.
when you seem accommodated enough, he pushes in further. and he does so till he’s deep inside you. it takes everything in him not to push it in one go. the wet warmth of your walls makes him lose his mind, and your clenching doesn’t help either.
he takes a firm hold of your hips and presses his hand flat on your tummy. he feels his cock through you, and it makes him moan with a bite to his lips. he rests his hand on either side of your head. “wrap your legs around me,” you quickly obey.
who knew you’d become such a mindless slut for Joshua’s cock? and who could even blame you? his cock stretches your walls with a delicious pain. and you can’t help but clench around him, sucking him in further and further. your hole flutters around his cock, and you’re more than pleased to see the effect you have on him.
you play with your nipples as he prepares to pull away. he looks at your hands before slapping them away, “tch, bad girl.”
he pulls out, except for his tip, and you immediately feel empty. he guides his cock inside you again, and you moan when he stretches you out again. he sighs before pulling out again. this time, he snaps his hips to yours in a quick motion.
he pauses to observe your reaction. “fuck!” you yell, your abdomen fluttering with the deep breaths you take. he takes it as a sign to continue. he snaps his hips again with a vigor he hasn’t shown previously. his moans sync with yours as he continues to thrust in and out of your cunt.
your hands fly to wrap around his strong shoulders as the bed beneath you trembles with his thrusts. his cock drives into your cunt, filling you to the brim. but he’s careful to not hurt you, ending up using only half of his length.
he undoes your legs around him and shifts to stand on the floor. he pulls you with him, and you yelp. “shh, don’t want them to find out what we’re doing, do you?” he places his forefinger on your lips and caresses your cheek.
“don’t care,” you whisper, and it takes him by surprise. the change in your behavior fuels him to only fuck you harder. he grips your hips, using them to maneuver your movements. he eases in, filling you entirely, and pulls out, only to slam his cock back in.
“fuck, see that?” he asks, interrupting your moans and whines. you lift your head, looking at his cock stretch you out. but that’s not what he’s talking about. he slams back in, and you see a bulge in your stomach. you gasp, your walls fluttering at the sight of the bulge.
joshua fucks you harder, focusing his eyes on the bulge, and your clenching drives him over the edge. he looks up to find you focusing on the bulge as well. one of his hands finds your face, squeezing your cheeks together.
he leans in, kissing your puckered lips harshly. his thrust only turns rougher with each passing second. the sound of skin slapping, your whimpers mixed in with his moans, and the distinct creak of the bed serve as a drug for Joshua. he picks you up, and you wrap your arms and legs around him in instinct.
you cling to him as he fucks you in the air. you don’t even have time to be impressed by his strength because his cock occupies every space in your mind. his cock screws into your cunt, harder and harder each time. you whine, nails digging into his shoulders.
his thrusts turn erratic, hips stuttering desperately to meet yours. he gasps, and his cock twitches with the need to release. fuck, he needs to come inside you. the mere idea of it drives him to fuck you with more strength.
your moans get louder, surely to catch the attention of bypassers outside the cabin. his gasps and moans make you look at him. his head is thrown back, and he fucks you mindlessly. his Adam’s apple bobs when he swallows, and you’re overcome with the need to mark it. a sheen of sweat coats his body, and the light shimmers off it, making him look heavenly.
he pulls you closer, pressing his chest to yours. he shifts one of his hands to hold your weight, grabbing your ass, and the other wraps around your upper back. you grind your hips, chasing some friction. he groans, tongue darting out to meet yours.
you eagerly welcome his tongue, tilting your head to kiss him deeply. your moans are swallowed by him, and both his hands now grip your ass. he kneads them in his hands, fucking you faster each time you clench around him.
“fuck! fuck!” he curses, hips stuttering to meet yours. your toes curl, and you scratch his back, biting his shoulder to quiet down your screams. you clench around him one last time and climax on his cock.
with a final thrust, he succumbs to his pleasure, releasing his load inside of you. you moan in unison, and he rushes to place you on the bed. he falls on top of you, cock still planted deep inside your cunt. he twitches, releasing the last of his load inside of you.
he doesn’t pull out, opting to stay inside you as he rests his forehead on yours. your legs tremble, and you take frequent breaths to calm down from the high.
“believe me, now?” your eyes are closed, but you can feel his smirk. you kiss him to shut him up, not wanting to hear his bragging.
with a kiss on your forehead, he pulls out. you hiss, your cunt feels empty, and you almost whine for him to put it back in. he falls to your side on the bed. you both lay breathless and stare up at the ceiling.
your legs and your core feel sore. a sigh leaves your lips, knowing you can't walk tomorrow without looking like a duckling.
“i'm calling in sick, tomorrow.” you inform your—what is he to you now, anyway?
his hand caresses your legs and sides as he cuddles up next to you. you snuggle into his warmth, slumber filling your veins.
“that bad?” you're too tired to retort his teasing.
“yeah. turns out your cock isn't just a choking hazard, it's also a health hazard.”
his laughter echoes through the walls of your cabin, and he hugs you tighter. you fall asleep with a smile on your face.

⸺ not so common partner privileges
⋆.˚ ☾ .⭒
maknae line

Scoups: you get to listen to the demos
– Normally, is to get a no-professional opinion, wanting to hear about what he could change or improve on his sound or flow.
– But sometimes, when he is really proud of a demo, he just has to tell you about it
– And, knowing him, you know is to receive praise, being the leo he is.
– Oh well, the songs are actually good. so how can you not praise him for it?
Jeonghan: teaming together
– You gained your place as his second player.
– Yes, you may have bribed him with kisses and praises, but you are also really good at looking innocent and lying to his teammates.
– So, how can he say no to team up with you when you look at him across the room, ready to take out Mingyu on the first round?
– He is a weak man, after all.
Joshua: takes the lead
– As a person that prefers to follow rather than to lead, is not so common for him to decide for you.
– For example, you ask him to get take out for dinner? He will ask you what you’re craving, or what kind or food, or how greasy you want the meal
– But, whenever he sees you too stressed from constantly having to take decisions, he is ready to help you with it.
– Will decide for you what you’re eating, what you’re watching- even the time you’re going to sleep that night.
– Not because he likes to control you like this, not at all. But because he knows it helps you relax that brain of yours.
Jun: expresses his emotions
– When Minghao listens to Jun say a quick “love you” to you through the phone, he doesn’t really believe it.
– Jun? just expressing himself? just like that? without blushing or shutting himself after?
– But, it is common to you to experience a raw Junhui. A Junhui that will look deeply into your eyes, before smiling and saying how much you mean to him
– A Junhui that, between giggles, will explain to you how he fell in love with you. But also a Junhui that will hide himself on the crook of your shoulder when his members start begging for a little of the love he shows to you, mumbling a quick “love y’all” before blushing.
Hoshi: Supports your silence time
– He is not quite sure why you love meditating so much, or why he is asking Myungho for tips on how to help you.
– Well, he does know. Because he loves you.
– So, when Minghao gives him a couple of candles and some youtube channels to help you meditate, he is quick to thank the youngest.
– He even tries to sit down with you to meditate, he bought you matching pads to meditate and do yoga with.
– He is too hyper tho, but he tries his best, always. For you.
Wonwoo: calling dibs on a camera roll
– He doesn’t really care anymore.
– Nowadays, he even takes pictures of specific scenarios because he just knows you will like them.
– When he gets the roll back, he can already see how many pictures you’re giving to take away from him.
– It’s okay tho, your instagram and journal will look cute with those pictures.
Woozi: sleeping privileges
– He hates how you can just command him to go sleep.
– Is like if you’ve got superpowers. It creeps him out.
– He had been going strong on the (he wants to believe) last hour of the studio session. Sleep? He doesn’t need it. Energy? Is at its fullest. Did he write much in the last two hours? No. Did he make much progress? Not either.
– So, when he peeks your name on his lock screen, he’s quick to text you back. And, just like that, the energized Woozi is feeling his eyes heavy, and his hands need to hold you.
– He can see he had one too many missed calls from Hoshi and Vernon, and he was quick to tell the eldest about his where about.
– And, he was just as quick to get to you, and to bed.
– Is not the first time you’ve done this. It surprises him how easily you can put him to sleep, as if you were a deity of sleep.

heads up: they're married <3 also food mentions.
"oooh, is this for me?"
joshua's not supposed to be awake now. you're already cursing under your breath as you scramble to hide the ingredients around you, although he clearly knows what you're doing based on the way he's chuckling to himself. he makes his way over, stretching a little before he pulls you into his arms and leans past you, getting a better look at what you're making him. he furrows his brow.
"... what's all of this?"
with a sigh, you pull yourself out of his arms, going back to what you're working on. "remember our trip to italy...? you really liked the tiramisu we had, so..." with a vague gesture toward, well, everything on the counter near you, you continue on, "i'm trying. it takes forever to chill, so i thought i'd get up early so you wouldn't catch me and i could still surprise you with it tonight..."
oh. oh. he's already stepping close to you again, arms wrapping around you so that he can hug you properly. "you don't have to do that."
"little late for that, hong."
he chuckles, swooping in to kiss your cheek before he lets you go again. "it's never too late to be lazy, hong. you could have bought a cake and i'd be just as happy."
you shift nervously in place. "i know, but... it's the first time we're... y'know..."
joshua lights up with delight, leaning against the counter as he crosses his arms. "hm? the first time we're doing what? celebrating my birthday?" he mocks you with a fake gasp, making a show of looking at his wedding ring, "we just met this year?! i wonder what our friends think of us. i think jeonghan's right and you seduced me down the aisle--"
"that's not--" you pout at him and his theatrics. you've signed up for a life of him teasing you now, but that doesn't change how flustered it makes you to say the words out loud--even when it's just the two of you. "it's the first time we're celebrating your birthday since we got married and i wanted it to be special. is that what you wanted to hear, hong?"
his eyes crinkle with delight. "thank you, hong." he's too happy to call you that now. not as happy as you are to hear it, but this man is going to be both the life and death of you at this point.
before he can move toward the fridge, you stop him, quickly stepping in to kiss him. "happy birthday, you big dork."
he just smiles and kisses you again. your big dork, he'll mumble against your skin. forever and always.

PRINCESS TREATMENT
ㅤㅤㅤ ㅤㅤㅤh. joshua x fem!reader ⪩⪨
01.ㅤۗㅤ𝙼ember . ⎯⎯⎯ joshua.
02.ㅤۗㅤ𝙲𝚆 . ⎯⎯⎯ multiple pet names, possessive thoughts, mentions of blowjobs(m.) and sex, just a very gentle guy who loves his girl more than anything.
⪩⪨ boyfriend!joshua whose instagram is filled to the brim with pictures of his beautiful girl, sometimes he forgets to tag you but it’s okay because it takes no sherlock holmes to figure out your username since he only follows your account and a naruto fanpage.
⪩⪨ boyfriend!joshua who wants you to meet his parents in less than a month into the relationship, it’s extremely important to him to make it as clear as possible that he is serious about you, leaves no room for overthinking at all, always a step ahead of you in the “would you still love me if i was a worm?” department, the best boy indeed.
⪩⪨ boyfriend!joshua who would rather take a bullet than let you pay for literally anything, because how dare you even suggest paying for your own things? as if you don’t know the only reason he works so hard it’s exactly so he can pamper you endlessly? the absolute nerve of you, better get on your knees and start apologizing.
⪩⪨ boyfriend!joshua who is the sassiest and most dramatic guy you’ve ever been with, but can not for the life of him handle the thought of you doing any work at all, in every aspect, which, ironically, sometimes makes you work even harder to get what you want.
⪩⪨ boyfriend!joshua who makes it the world’s most difficult challenge to accept receiving head from you for the first time, he enjoys being the one doing all of the work to make you feel good, he just couldn’t see how blowing him off would please you at all so he kept denying(while completely ignoring the tent forming rapidly in his grey sweatpants) until you begged too sweetly, so softly, looking at him with so much adoration and love, like you wanted nothing more than to please him, he could have finished right there but instead he shook his head and sat down in the bed, ready to give his princess anything she could ever want, just like he promised he would! even if what she wanted was to kneel in front of him and try to fit his thick cock into her little mouth for a while.
⪩⪨ boyfriend!joshua who uses every opportunity that stumbles across his way to show off his huge arms, it’s a win-win scenario, he gets to feel all hot and manly and you get to hold onto your boyfriend’s strong biceps everywhere you go and get carried on bride style after a night out that, honestly, didn’t even leave you that drunk, but since he offered to carry you, who would ever say no?
⪩⪨ boyfriend!joshua who adores your nails and is always super excited to see the results of your nail appointments, asks for pictures during the whole process, sends you food when it’s taking too long, and finally when the nails are done, he’s there to pick you up in his shiny car, more than ready to do the last step of your nail day, which is putting them to the test, the scratch test.
⪩⪨ boyfriend!joshua who just can’t help but adore when you leave him all marked up, he loves it, and how can you blame him? was he supposed to be normal about having proof straight on his body of just how good he made you feel last night? how could you even consider he'd do such a thing? this man is not normal about you in general.
⪩⪨ boyfriend!joshua who knows your entire wardrobe like the back of his hand, half of it because he bought it, the other half because of how often he’s watching you, definitely a “i look at you more often than you think” kinda guy. he’s very proud of just how well he knows his baby.
⪩⪨ boyfriend!joshua who remembers all of your food preferences and orders, knows all of your allergies, all of your icks and all of your friend’s gossips because he’s just so well behaved! he won't tell anyone, he never would! he's your joshy! you can trust him to keep all of your secrets, forever.
⪩⪨ boyfriend!joshua who’s very open about the fact that he wants to marry you, live the rest of your lives together, maybe with a kid if you’re into that, maybe just dogs if that’s better for you, he got his own wishes when it comes to creating a family, but at the end of the day; this man has one priority, and she has a name. whatever is best for you, it’s the best for him.
⪩⪨ husband!joshua who no matter how long it has passed since you got married, has not lost even a little bit of his obsession with you. his precious flower, his cute little thing, his darling, his sweet girl, that’s all you’ll ever be to him, all his to love and protect, forever.

joshua hong x reader
"why don't you ever let me help you?" wc: 354 | genre: fluff | warnings: none
“Why don’t you ever let me help you?” He’d asked it with a laugh–bright, breathy, happy–standing off to the side as he watched you struggling with a jar lid. You’d gotten it eventually, after tapping it with the handle of a butter knife, and he’d chuckled about it to himself for the rest of the night.
You’re not sure he even remembers asking the question, but his words stuck with you.
Your relationship with Joshua wasn’t new per se, but there were certainly still things you were getting used to. Of course, he was perfect. You never had any doubts about that. He was kind, and patient, and just a little bit weird–enough to make it fun, enough to keep you on your toes in the best way possible. The kind of weird that keeps you laughing, even when you’ve had a bad day.
You wish you could be that for him, too. But you’ve accepted that there are just parts of yourself that are a little more difficult, that maybe there will always be a little part of you that’s deeply terrified of everything crumbling down around you.
But you try. For him and for you. It’s hard, and life has taught you that the easy path hurts less. But still, you try.
“Hey, ‘Shua?” you call, just loud enough so that he can hear.
It’s early, you know he’s still in the bedroom. You'd offered to make breakfast. After a moment, he wanders into the kitchen, hair still tousled from sleep. Even now, he’s beautiful. He stands just behind you and tilts his head, a silent request for you to continue.
“Can you grab the eggs?”
He nods, and instinctively reaches for the fridge handle. Maybe, hopefully, one day, your cabinets and his cabinets will be the same, but for now, he relies on you to tell him where to look. When he turns back around, there’s a wide, lopsided grin on his lips, and a sparkle in his eyes.
He kisses the side of your head as he places the egg carton beside you. “I'm always happy to help.”
thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed 💙 consider letting me know what you thought through a comment or by sending a message!

⠀𖼥ৎ⠀“chicken couple” ₍ h.js ₎

───── ABOUT “a chicken husband can't kiss like me.” - probably your husband, Hong Joshua.
⋆ 𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒓𝒆: fluff, humour ⋆ 𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈: husband!joshua x f!reader ⋆ 𝒄𝒘: skinship, kissing, petnames (baby, sweetheart) ⋆ 𝒘𝒄: 0.8k
A/N: gang this is probs the most cutest shit I've ever written. AND IM SO GLAD THIS TURNED OUT PRETTY WELL!!!! ENJOY READINGGG ◠◠ღ | @hanniescookie @wonkierideul
“Baby,” Joshua called out from the kitchen, the sound of gentle water splashes coming to end as he turned the sink tap off.
“Hm?” You respond, collecting the clothes that need to be washed from the basket and throwing them into the laundry.
“Would you still love me if we were chickens and I couldn't fly?”
You paused, glancing in his direction as he washed the dishes. “Chickens can't fly, shua.” You chuckle, continuing your work.
“They can't, but y'know— would you hate me for being your chicken husband and I couldn't fly to protect you?” He asks, amused and eagerly waiting for your answer.
You burst out laughing as you throw the washed clothes in the basket in your hands and make your way towards the courtyard.
“What kind of question is that?” You laugh, leaning over to look at him when you passed by the kitchen.
Joshua's lips curve into a smile—a smile that reached his ears and brightened his face. He grabbed another plate to spread the soap on, watching you as you head outside to hang the clothes.
It was a hot sunny day—perfect for doing laundry. You and Joshua decided that today should be a cleaning day, dividing works for the both of you around the house. And it was always worth it. Because at the end of the day, you both would lay down on the couch, cuddling and resting peacefully without any work left to do.
Also when you wake up in the morning, the first thing you see is a clean and neat house. Nothing could ever be better than that.
Right now, you wanted to do the laundry. So, Joshua decided to do the dishes.
“The kind of questions you ask me almost everyday,” he replies with a grin.
“My questions make sense!” You yell, trying to defend the way your questions were just random and always out of the blue.
“Would you still love me if I ran away with a puppy, leaving you alone?” Joshua recalled one of your questions you had asked just a day before, and you snapped your head in his direction, breaking into a smile.
“And you said no,” you add, squeezing the excess water from the t-shirt in your hands before hanging it on the rod.
“Answer my question, sweetheart.”
Taking the last cloth from the basket, you giggle to yourself as you come up with an answer.
“I would run away with a chicken who knows how to fly.”
You quickly look over to Joshua—he snapped his head in your direction, eyes widened and lips apart in disbelief. Even though it was a light joke, he felt the need to make everything an event.
“Woah,” he breathed out, “You don't even love me, do you?” Jutting out his lips in a pout, he looked away, trying to look as upset as possible. “I was just tricked into this marriage.”
But, the way his lips threatened to curve upward into a smile, betrayed him.
“You're really a poor actor, y'know?” You say, resting your hands on your hips as your eyes stayed fixed on him from the courtyard.
Well, you were in the mood to add fuel to the fire.
“Let's be honest, no chicken wife would stay with a chicken husband who can't fly for the love of his life!” you giggle, grabbing the basket and heading back towards the laundry room. “Every chicken husband can fly for his wife.”
Joshua washed his hands and stopped the sink tap, slowly moving his hands to rest on the counter. And just when you were about to pass by him, he suddenly turned around and held your cheek with his cold hand—leaning in to smash his lips against yours.
You flinched at the sudden action, frozen in place as your eyes widened and you tried to process what just happened.
He gently moved his lips on yours, grazing your cheek with his thumb. You could feel him smiling a bit—probably at the way you were standing there, dumbfounded. As he continued to kiss you softly, you finally closed your eyes, kissing him back.
After a few good seconds, he slowly pulled back, his eyes locking with you. They carried a mischievous glint, and you knew he had something to say now.
“A chicken husband can't do this,” he says, smiling softly. “Can he?” Tilting his head, he stared at you while his eyes softened—looking as innocent as ever.
You couldn't help the way your lips turned into a smile, your cheeks dusting a light shade of pink. You gently smack his chest, letting out a shy giggle before running away to the laundry room.
Joshua burst into a fit of laughter, watching you with amusement. “Baby, wait for me!” He called out, quickly washing his hands and wiping it before running after you.
Now you just knew—nobody could save you from your husband who would spend the next few hours pampering you with kisses and hugs. Not to mention, the thousands of ways he would tease you for being so shy and melting with just a kiss.
He learnt another lesson (even though he already knew)—kisses are your biggest weakness. “May I seal an argument with just a kiss next time?” He teases you with a soft voice and a pretty face.
The chores are long forgotten, but they can wait.

Joshua (SVT) | Hand sizes fluff | 0.8k | gn!reader (but reader has smaller hands than shua) A/N: SOMEONE (ehm ehm @hanniedream) mentioned shua's hands to me and now i wanna die
“You know,” Joshua starts out of nowhere, pausing the show you were watching, and licks his lips, “You’re literally dating me and you never asked for something the fans ask me for all the time.”
You scoff, but a smirk plays on your lips while you turn towards him. “I’d hope so. What kind of kinky shit is it?”
He rolls his eyes with a sigh. “It’s innocent, pervert.”
“Okay, sorry, what is it then?”
You watch with a confused frown as your boyfriend sets the remote down and shows his palm to you. When you don’t catch on, he continues: “You never asked to compare hand sizes with me.”
You blink at him a couple times with a deadpan expression.
“We’re literally holding hands all the time.”
“Yeah, but that’s not the same,” he pouts and nods towards his hand. You quirk a brow at him.
“Joshua, I don’t need to compare your hand with mine to know yours is enormous,” you try to say it gently, but the situation is too unserious. He shuffles closer to you, angling his whole body towards you. You watch with nothing but pure amusement as he huffs when you make no move to do the same, so he has to adjust his position, pull your legs up and over his own thighs and then pull you closer. “You’re cute.”
“And you’re being difficult and mean,” he narrows his eyes at you.
“Mean? Avoiding holding hands from now on would be mean,” you tease, relishing in the way his eyes widen and the disbelieving sigh from his lips, “But I’m not doing that, am I?”
“I bet you will though,” he murmurs, his lips pouted and his eyes holding the same hurt as a puppy that was denied treats. You sigh, reassuring him you wouldn’t do that to him. “Prove it then. Hold my hand, I dare you.”
It’s a trap. Of course it’s a fucking trap. You know it, he knows it, he knows you know it, and you know he knows you know it. Everyone knows it.
Just the same as everyone should know that your very petty boyfriend will give you the cold shoulder while doing his best to pretend he isn’t actually doing that if you refuse. You’re also pretty sure the pout would get stuck on that pretty face, which might not be as bad, but it’d be one more thing for him to whine about. Again, not that bad. Why are you letting him manipulate you then?
You slide your hand into his extended one. In your last effort to get some control over this situation you pull his hand to your lips and slowly kiss his knuckles. “There, I’m holding your hand.”
Joshua smiles, leaning over your hands to kiss you, to connect your lips as well.
“Thank you,” he coos sweetly, kissing your cheek right after.
And then, inevitably, he pulls aways and in one quick maneuver has your palm pressed against his. He chuckles like he’s surprised that his hand is bigger than yours. Honestly you wonder if there’s anyone you know whose hands are bigger than your boyfriend’s. You smile at him fondly. He’s so easy to please sometimes, acting like he pulled off some grand scheme when it’s just… this.
“Wow,” he bites his lip and looks at you, “I won.”
“Yeah, like, you won the genetic lottery in every way. What a surprise, I haven’t noticed until now,” you roll your eyes, but you let him have his fun and don’t pull your hand away just yet. He covers it with his, now his time to kiss the back of your hand and rub his cheek against it.
“Sounds like you’re flirting with me,” he draws out the last syllable, grinning at you like you just admitted your darkest secret to him. Cute. He’s being too cute.
“Maybe I am, maybe I’m not. Can we go back to the show now?”
You free your hand, only to change your mind at the last second - after seeing Joshua starting to pursue his lips again - and run it through his hair. You shake your head when he leans into your touch.
“Say you love me,” he demands softly.
“I love you,” you say with your hand cupping his cheek. He turns his head to press a kiss to your palm before helping you untangle yourself from him and pressing the play button.
It doesn’t take long for him to pull you into his side and guide your head to his shoulder. It’s the perfect position to see him bite back a smile when you hold his hand under the blanket.
