After 3 years of procrastinating and distraction, I’ve finally cleaned up and finished my Thieves Cant/Rogue Slang Guide for FFXIV RP!

This is a labor of love and you are totally free to use it or not use it, but I hope some folks will find it interesting and use it for flavor in their RP!

Personally I find using the cant to be pretty fun in the right circumstances. So please, distribute and enjoy!

Thread Tracker

This is how I keep track of threads: If it’s been awhile (a week), I check my threadtracker/activity log/my RP partner’s blog to see if I’ve missed a post. I will also look through my drafts, as whenever my partner makes a post, i hit the reblog button but save it as a draft. So this way I can’t possibly miss a post. 

That being said, I know I take a long time for replies. I’ve got a lot on my plate (mixed in with a healthy side of depression). But maybe showing how I do it to other people will help someone else.

“Sorry- just- I’m excited!” E’liut chuckled, practically grinning from ear to ear. “Glad t’know it ain’t as bad- but for sure, I’m ready! I’m ready.” Something inside him seem to subtly shine through his smile. “Somethin’s callin’ me here. I can feel it. Really! Like… when I look out into th’ocean, I feel like I’m… aw. Promise you won’t think real bad on me for sayin’ this? But like… I feel like I’m home. I ain’t really feelin’ it in Ul’dah- just so stuffy, so tight, with all them walls and starin’ eyes. People can get real two-faced there. They’re yer friend one day, then they ain’t th’next. Ready t’sell you for less than a used chamberpot, y’know?”

E’liut looked up at Taiken, his expression growing more open, his bright blue eyes sparkling and growing wider as he talked. Any more excitement and they may have very well grown to be as blue a the sky and ocean he loved so much.

“Th’open sky, open ships, open space- I’m really feelin’ it. Never been on no boat b’fore though. What ya do on a boat anyways? I guess somethin’ about keeping them ships nice? The uh… big cloth- sails, right? Lots of cargo- figure ya gotta have folks movin’ around all that stuff. Reckon I ought to train a little to carry all them boxes.”

“Here’s your drinks!”

The boy swiveled his ears as the Miqo’te waitress approached. She smiled at the two of them as she reached for the two mugs on her server platter and set them one by one in front of them. “You’re food’s being prepared. Can I getcha anything while you wait?”

“Think I’m good.” The ginger paused, then looked up at the Miqo’te. “Wait, what they got?” He then turned to look at Taiken, a mild confusion on his face. “I ain’t been to- What they got y’think is good?”

I am really not into super dark RP, as my style tends to lean heavily toward comedic and sort of goofy. I’m looking more for slice of life, friendship, business, minor crime, medical/healer, silly, Bad Stoner Ideas, culinary, or (non-super dark) emotional deep-plot styles of RP. Zevet is very much a chaotic good character and I have no interest in ‘corruption’ plots. Anything relating to rape is also a very hard and immediate no. Don’t even bring it up.

The boy glided his hand forward, slipping his fingers along the back of the chair, and pulling it out with a simple graceful flourish. The Miqo’te then plopped himself into it, his tail actively moving, wrapping around the chair, then his torso, and just generally flexing around.

He couldn’t help but to smile brightly and rather broadly at Taiken as he spoke, his eyes filled with a certain shine of excitement and general interest. He could be a friend.

“I got ways of evading fights,” the boy winks at the man, a mischievous twinkle in his eye, “You learn a few things when you ain’t got much in Ul’dah. Where t’go, who t’look for. Though i suppose it's a bit different here. More privateers an’ folks who live free, less stuffy merchants an’ mean gamblers. So far, ain't as bad. Though I guess another week or month ‘ere I’ll change my mind.” He gave a light chuckle.  Surely Limsa couldn’t be that bad. Or maybe the honeymoon will finally fade from his eyes and he’d finally realize he’d moved to another city with harsher problems.

“You been around here, longer than me at least. What do ya think of the place? Nicer than Ul’dah? Worse? Have I made a huge mistake comin’ here?” He pauses for a moment. “...any boats that need any helpin’ hands?”

Gray is a son of Ala Mhigo.  Born and raised in Gyr Abania, he served in the Ala Mhigan army until the revolt against King Theodoric.

Unlike many of his kin, Gray never strayed beyond the safety of the Twelveswood.  He’s worked the land, hunted, trapped and protected the Shroud for the better part of twenty years.  In that time he’s come to know a good many Adders & Keeper Tribes; most he’s on good terms with, others he is not.

He’s assisted more than a few travelers that lost their way or were injured in the Shroud.

Having spent almost half of his life in the Shroud, Gray is an excellent guide and happy to hire out his services to those seeking it.

Are you in the market for crafted beer?  Making his own with ingredients mostly procured locally, Gray is happy to sell what he doesn’t plan to use for himself.  He is also on the lookout for ingredients he can’t acquire on his own, or simply something new to try.

Characters are two new OCs of mine, but they don’t quite have their forms ready yet. Artist chosen may have some input on their characters. Bonus points if Artist is also a writer.
