Old guard,, curious couple,, unruly son,, early days

warm and cosy patcap au where pat runs a bakery with mary and kitty and cap is the local florist and pat’s favourite customer who always comes in. they’re in love but neither of them will admit it even though they spend far too long talking over the counter and they always look forward to seeing each other. cap keeps the bakery supplied with fresh flowers to say thank you for the bread and cakes, and pat starts leaving friendly notes in each of cap’s orders. fate eventually intervenes where they’re too afraid to when their mutual friends alison and mike hire them both for their wedding

i spent 2 whole days drawing this full scene just to satisfy my love for this that i hope i eventually get around to writing!! please consider a reblog <3

The Captain + Pat in BBC Ghosts -“The Ghost Of Christmas”

I love in the Christmas special where Pat goes “it’s twister!!!” And looks at Cap and Cap is like “I-“ and just shakes his head cos he has no idea what he’s talking about. It’s just so cute seeing how excited Pat is.

having some galaxy brain thoughts about cap and windows and mirrors. looking out of the windows in so many scenes, right from the start, and appearing in the mirror in the intro. the window pane in which he saw havers, the glass between them symbolic of a mirror reflecting someone back at him - they’re the same, but one got to leave and one is stuck with the same old war, not knowing, not understanding, in the past. looking through the glass at adam, through the glass at mike, through the glass as the bridal party arrived (more reflecting himself back at him), through the glass as alison and her drunk friends turned up but he just couldn’t join in... just always glass, always behind glass, separated. kept behind the glass unable to reach and be reached, touch and be touched, be free and experience the world fully in the way that’s always evaded him...

and all i can say is that i can’t wait to see him finally smash right through the glass that’s always been there. SO MANY THOUGHTS i am. i am Thinking god don’t touch me THE GLASS!!! THE GLASS!!!

mkay so im never gonna stop talking about you love alison don’t you you want her to stay so basically. this line fucks SO hard bcs like. ok at the end of this scene cap sets up the ultimatum for kitty of bringing up the basement to alison (ultimately preventing her from leaving button house, sabotaging her own wishes but fulfilling kitty’s) vs just letting alison leave and be happy or whatever. the selfish choice vs the selfless one. and kitty chooses the selfish one, and cap encourages her to, and that makes me feral because. i mean it’s a direct parallel to havers, that One Person wanting to leave for their own reasons that have nothing to do with you, and you can be selfish and do something that stops them, so they stay, or you can just let them go. and we all know what happened before. so. cap telling kitty 2 be selfish messes me up because he can’t do that for himself and i. i am going to cry facedown on the floor in a minute oh my fucking god

The thing about Ghosts is that, on the one hand, it’s generally really light-hearted and fun, but on the other hand, Pat’s death scene— when we see him staggering to his van, knowing that he’s dying, knowing that he’s got a wife and kid at home who are probably not going to see him again and yet clearly being very conscious of the fact that he’s got to stay calm, he’s got to stay upbeat, because he’s surrounded by children— is perhaps the darkest thing I’ve ever seen.
