confession + advice request

I have been avoiding someone at school for a few months now. It started when I started making crude sexual references that they weren't comfortable with (which was not okay of me to do).

They distanced themselves from me (rightfully so) but later came up and apologized for it, saying they were "acting immaturely," which they didn't need to apologize for considering how I was treating them. They needed to get away.

Since then, I have been avoiding them so I don't accidentally make them uncomfortable or bother them in any way.

I'm afraid that me trying to stay invisible is making me come off as a stalker, but I don't know what else to do. It might not be a big deal to them anymore, or it might still be. I can't just come out of nowhere to try to talk to them after months of not saying anything. I get stressed whenever I'm too close to them. Does anyone know if there's a better way to deal with this?
