why do i keep seeing whole videos on advice for artfight from “veterans” or whatever. here’s all the advice you need:

you don’t need to draw every day

you don’t need to fully render every drawing, sketches still count and the person receiving it will still love it

you don’t need a fully polished ref sheet for every single character, having a basic one or even just a colour palette along with whatever other art you’ve done works fine in most cases

you don’t need to draw a fully rendered piece every single day do not burn yourself out or injure yourself for funny little internet points good lord

Deltarune Theorycrafting (Spoilers ahead!)

THINGS WE KNOW:

DESS (Noelle's sister) is missing but NOT confirmed dead Something TERRIBLE has happened in the BUNKER The BUNKER is specifically a place for the citizens to gather in an emergency However, it was locked down after the TERRIBLE THING happened The ROARING KNIGHT is equipped with a baseball bat (and possibly a baseball as well) NOT a katana (judging by the way the Knight swings the bat and how they hold it - a katana is longer, thinner, has a different hilt and practically requires a two handed grip to wield effectively. If a pencil or a cactus needle can turn into a sword for Kris, a baseball bat definitely could for someone else) probably some other stuff idk I'm writing this at 3am and I don't fancy going digging

My theory:

The ROARING KNIGHT is DESS. No doubt about it.

DESS died in the bunker after the terrible accident. This is why people (especially kids) aren't allowed in the bunker alone any more.

DESS' dust is still in the bunker, along with the things she had with her (perhaps she went out there to practice her strikes). With the generation of a dark world in there, this allowed her to return to life; but since she never got a service, or any other funerary rites, instead of a fully formed being, she's an eldritch Dark spirit.

HOWEVER. I don't think Dess is the bad guy here. She hasn't actually been shown to hurt anyone - the characters who fall in her battle are SWOONED, not dead or knocked out, and she doesn't deal the final blow to Kris, instead almost gently forcing them to their knees. This tracks given what we know about Dess and Kris' prior relationship.

I think Dess is abducting characters and bringing them to the bunker because it's a SAFE PLACE. because it's somewhere for people to evacuate in an emergency. Because she can't appear in the light world, the only way to do this is through causing Dark Fountains to generate Dark Worlds for her to pass into.

I think Kris - the character POSESSED by the Soul - is working with Dess to try and make everyone safe. Kris is the one creating the Dark Fountains in important areas so Dess can take people to the bunker. I expect Kris believes - probably rightly - that just going to their mom or the police with a tall tale of an emergency about to happen, they just won't be listened to because they're a prankster.

This is backed up with the fight over the guitar in Chapter 4 - Kris doesn't want the Soul to know the entry code because then the Soul will be able to enter the safe space. This, presumably, means that Kris is aware that the Soul is wrapped up in the emergency somehow.

WHICH brings me to the more fuzzy and slightly vibes-based part of the theory

Carol is wrapped up in this somehow. Don't know how. But I have some theories- Starting with this one: Carol is NOT the Knight. I think she IS, however, the CAUSE of the emergency. I think Dess was a sacrifice to start the emergency in motion. I think it went wrong. I think the Soul currently residing in Kris does not, in fact, belong to them. I think Carol has Kris' Soul nice and locked away, and Carol is using this as leverage to make Kris follow her instructions. Why? Because Kris a. obviously has the willpower to survive without a Soul for short amounts of time and b. has a relationship with the one person who knows what Carol is doing and is trying to stop her; the Knight. Kris knows that they can't help Dess with her plan if they die from chronic lack of Soul. So they're trying to balance being a double agent for Carol with trying to help Dess.

Here's a controversial opinion: I think Ralsei is the Dark World equivalent of Kris' actual soul. He can follow Kris anywhere, into any Dark World, knows a LOT more than he's letting on about all of this, and actively takes steps to distract our Soul so he can talk to Kris at least once a chapter. His design also has a lil heart on and Mister Fox does not add tiny design details like that lightly.

I might be crackpotting here, and making connections where they don't exist; I still don't know what the Roaring is or why the Knight is going to activate it, or even if it's going to do it at all. It might not be all there any more; it may well be working on instinct or the last echo of Dess' willpower alone and doesn't realise what it's doing beyond the overpowering need to save everyone important.

My theory is sort of backed up with the Snowgrave/Weird Route, if you squint; Noelle is being Made Stronger, to be eventually Used Up. I think the Soul - working with Carol - is grooming Noelle to be a stronger, better sacrifice for whatever is about to happen, whatever emergency Dess is trying to protect everyone from. Kris is doing everything they can to prevent it; and gets really, really, really upset with the Soul when it gets its way. This also explains why, even in the Pacifist/Normal routes, Kris doesn't like the Soul; because no matter how nice it's acting, it's still working against them the whole time. Kris is also eventually going to be Used Up; because eventually, Carol won't have any more use for them.

idk. There's my thoughts, anyway. I haven't looked up theories for the new chapters yet so if my thoughts are the same as someone else's then that's cool, same hat bro.
