Larry & Turo - Supporting Turo

Turo has a lot of health issues, mental issues, and is disabled- Blind in one eye, missing an arm and a leg (has prosthetics), and is forced to use a cane. Plus, his heart rate is never stable and it's scary.

So, how does Larry handle that?

A super important factor is Larry's Bravairy, actually. The bird alternates between staying at the side of Turo and Larry, and can act just like a service animal. Alerting at heart rates, getting help in situations like Turo collapsing, knowing when Turo needs to sit, guiding Turo in harder to maneuver places, and so on. I have so much more to this and drawings and all, so I'll put it separately but I thought this was a nice note and all to start on.

As I said before, I'm going to be focusing on this duo a bit for my own mental health and the sake of building up the AU! So, let's dig deeper into the intricacies between the two- Starting with handling a very unwell Turo.

The Only Friend That Turo Has- Larry

We all have to cherish them, because it's the only happy we're gonna get for Turo, more likely than not- I'm only half kidding.

Anyways! There's actually a lore explanation to these two- And I love it. And because that's so lengthy, it's going below a cut.

In this AU, Turo did not die in Area Zero. And, unlike the normal, he does not have Clavell or Arven. Clavell leaves Turo, and takes Arven. Clavell even ends up going to ally with both that Blueberry Academy director, Cyrano, and Briar. All for one reason: To raid Area Zero, for research into Terastallization for the unknowing partners of Clavell, and for Clavell in order to either capture Turo or his items.

Turo, having ears everywhere in some manner, recognizes this as an attack so he knows he has to get out. And he manages to, with the help of AI Turo- Who ends up willingly staying down there in hiding to watch the operation, at least for now. But, Turo himself ends up stumbling into Medali with all of his research in massive bags carried by Miraidon, a mess of pocketed Pokéballs, and so on. Everything that really mattered is with Miraidon now, who's walking at his side.

Larry, eating at the same spot as always in the Treasure Eatery, sees him. Not initially recognizing the man, he just sees someone who clearly is exhausted and not feeling great. Larry takes the chance and invites him in to eat alongside Miraidon, who gets a special sandwich at the explanation of Turo then insistence of Larry.

They end up spending that whole evening together. Even staying at the eatery past closing, thanks to Larry's influence and some bribery on his part. But they can't stay there forever, and Turo knows that very well. Which causes him to panic a bit, as he just spent all that time he had to try and find shelter here with Larry. But Larry has picked up on the dilemma.

Eventually, after some pushing from Larry and smoothing details out, it settles that Turo will be staying with Larry. Turo keeps pushing that it will only be for the night, but Larry knows better. He's very aware of Clavell's games. He knows Turo has genuinely nowhere else to go, and he doesn't respect his bosses much anyways in this case. So, he shelters the duo (and any other Pokémon, research, and so on that Turo has) in his own home.

They basically stay side by side after that. And I fully intend to make him the positive relationship that stays that constant for Turo. It is very likely that without Larry, he would snap completely- Without recovery.

Overall, it's like two tired old men- Who both complain about their jobs, struggle mentally a bit, are super fucking tired, and take care of each other but not themselves. They're happy like that.

There will probably be a ton about them posted soon and all, because it's just a super nice aspect to explore of my AU and I think Turo could use the positivity.

A Sneak Peak: The Design Of Professor Turo Himself

While not fully designed out, I do have some doodles- Colored, varied, and so on to showcase the main man of this AU. In his ten years later variation, that is.

CW: Scars from conflict, nothing more.

He's no stranger to conflict, or the agony of losing your own mind at your own hands.

Professor Turo in this AU could be called "worse for wear" and then accused of "not taking care of himself". Despite all of this, he doesn't seem to care at all- Not in the slightest. There are bigger things at play.

The inital concept sketch, which was later colored both with and without glasses- Trying to test those elements out on him before confirming their existence canonically. A full body interaction is the next plan for this.

I really hope to get some more solid concepts out soon and also answer that ask I got! That's in the works, I'm just considering how exactly to answer said question... It's amazing to already have an ask though, so thanks for that!!

This will be an AU blog related to my own personal headcanons, AU, and so on. The primary characters that will be noted in this are:

This doesn't mean that other characters aren't present and can't be asked about! They are in fact present, more likely than not- But just not entirely relevant to the Area Zero quartet. The story being presented here is related to them, so any asks about others may go into a doodle or extra. These asks might not be responded to in as much detail!

The Universe/Story

This AU starts at the "ten years ago" mark from the canon of Scarlet/Violet. A majority of this story is taking place down in Area Zero with Clavell, plus a younger Arven. He will age as the story progresses, but he's started at the age of nine. He currently has a little Maschiff.

The setting, as stated being Area Zero beforehand, is primarily their own large labs at the very bottom. Turo has one building, and Sada has the other. They are connected, but they try not to bug each other's work when they are working separate. When they work together they have a specific lab for that, which is often where Clavell comes in. Any other research stations or such are respectively divided between them or sometimes shared, but they don't really budge on them much since they don't see them as something of as much importance.

Where we pick up is where tensions are starting to build up between Turo and Sada. Both are deeply consumed in their work and are struggling with communication- Sada headstrong and trying to ignore it, while Turo is very actively panicking over it. Where their story alongside Clavell's will go is entirely up to you to follow.

Any further important lore, documents, and posts with be linked below. Though this entire blog should give you said context, but these will be the important ones before you interact, if you don't want to read it all.
