This part of the timeline mostly consists of the idw series, which is an ongoing comic, so I have to update this every few months. The sonic channel stories between issues 36 and 37 are there because Blaze is still fighting robot pirates in the first one and the guardians story has her defeating the last of them. Tailstube is there because it leads into sonic frontiers convergence. The first scene with eggman getting trapped in cyber space is separated because that's where sage is plugged into cyber space and she appears in divergence. Both endings for frontiers could work, but the final horizon has more story content. The murder of sonic, even though sega has been coy about whether it's in continuity from day one, is there because it's referenced several times in the idw comics, even if a couple of those are continuity errors. The shadow 101 short is ordered with its release date because it uses footage from sonic forces. Chao tales is not essential to the story, but I'm fairly certain it's in continuity.

Sonic Timeline Part 2-Modern Era (up to Forces)
• Sonic 4 episodes 1, metal, 2 • Sonic adventure • Sonic shuffle • Sonic adventure 2 • Sonic advance • Sonic advance 2 • Sonic heroes • Shadow the hedgehog • Sonic battle • Sonic advance 3 • Sonic rush • Sonic 06 • Sonic riders • Sonic rush adventure • Sonic rivals • Sonic and the secret rings • Sonic rivals 2 • Sonic riders zero gravity • Sonic unleashed / night of the werehog (concurrent) • Sonic and the black knight • Sonic colors comics • Sonic colors ultimate/ds/rise of the wisps (concurrent) • Sonic x shadow generations dark beginnings • Sonic x shadow generations/chao generations manga (concurrent) • Sonic free riders • Sonic prime (this one was really annoying to figure out) • Sonic lost world • Sonic channel comics (the 2016 ones) • Team sonic racing / idw team sonic racing one shot (concurrent) • Team sonic racing overdrive • Chao in space youtube short • Sonic forces rise of infinite • Sonic forces stress test • Sonic forces looming shadow / episode shadow (concurrent) • Sonic forces (pre-timeskip) (just level 1 and a couple cutscenes) • Come join the eggman empire (youtube short) • Sonic forces moment of truth • Sonic forces (post-timeskip) (the rest of the game)
This one doesn't have as many new placements compared to Part 1 because most of these are already on the official timeline. Sonic advance is there because of the release date and Tails held onto the chaos emerald he got awarded until near the end of adventure 2. Sonic shuffle doesn't have chaos emeralds in its story, so it doesn't interfere with anything. As for the moon zone, they're probably just flying around the intact half of the moon.
Blaze is probably in the future in sonic 06 because the sol emeralds teleported her there after sonic rush. They do that kind of thing sometimes. I put the rivals games after rush adventure because Eggman Nega isn't revealed as eggman's descendants until rivals 1. Secret rings is between them because there's a bunch of collectible trading cards related to secret rings in rivals 2.
Night of the werehog probably happens before the night stages in spagonia, but I haven't played unleashed in a while. Black knight is there because of the release date. Sonic colors ds is also in continuity, probably because its specific wisps are reused a lot later on and it has more story content than the main version. The chao generations manga isn't essential reading for this timeline, but it's fun and doesn't mess with anything timeline-wise.
I just put Sonic prime there because sonic says something about never seeing Tails really upset when he gets all pissy in either episode 1 or 2, I forget. He whines much more in lost world, so prime is probably before that. To be honest, Sonic prime should probably be taken in broad strokes. Sonic DID go on an adventure in the shatterverse in continuity, but it probably didn't happen exactly as depicted in the show.
The team sonic racing one-shot idw did probably happens early in TSR's story. I put overdrive after the main game because TSR ends with an "and the race continues" type ending and overdrive wraps that up. The rest of the cast probably got eliminated at some point and eggman definitely got booted off the race after trying to steal the ultimate energy engine, so that's why he's sabotaging the race out of a car. Chao in space is also non-essential, but it's promotional material for TSR and it came out afterwards, so I put it there.
Rise of infinite is what I was talking about when I said the Phantom Ruby appeared months before classic sonic. The sonic forces comics are weirdly important to that game's story. They show how eggman got the phantom ruby, how he teamed up with infinite, the beginning of the resistance, why silver is even in sonic forces, an actual fight with chaos, and more character stuff for The Unnamed Third Playable Character. Looming shadow has some of the same dialogue and story beats as level 1 of episode shadow, so they happen at the same time. Infinite's Big Freakout happens between stress test and episode shadow. Come join the eggman empire is also non-essential, but the ad was made in-universe during the 6 month timeskip.

Theory On Silver's Time Travel
I was about to write up the second part of the timeline when I had this thought about how Silver's timeline works after Sonic 06. That game had its own contradictory rules for time travel, but everything after it seems to work the same way. Silver's future is changed out from under him because of something happening in the past. Silver goes back, fixes it, and everything is back to normal. The question is how events in the past can change the future in real-time and how Silver's memory is unaffected. I think this works off of Spider-Man: Edge of Time rules. The plot of that game revolved around a link being created between the present and 2099 that let Peter change obstacles and enemies for Miguel in real-time and left both their memories unaffected. Silver's first appearance after Sonic 06 was in Sonic Rivals, where Eggman Nega travels back to the past with the future version of Angel Island and a special camera that he wants to use to turn the world into a collectible trading card in tow. The reason the future Angel Island is there is because Eggman Nega used that camera to turn the Master Emerald into a collectible trading card, which affected the Master Emerald at all points in time because it's the same throughout the space-time continuum. Disrupting the Master Emerald's place like this may have created a link between the present and Silver's future which would allow all the time traveling Silver does to work the way it's described in the games and comics. I might make a followup post about how Classic Sonic's time travel works later.

Everything after the 4 games in the story mode of Origins is based on release dates, with a few exceptions. Sonic 1 8bit is a separate story, even though it's very close to sonic 1. Sonic learns to drive has to be before Sonic Drift, which I didn't know was canon when I started making this. It's right next to sonic 2 8bit because they use the same model of Mecha Sonic. Knuckles Chaotix, according to the Japanese manual, is set months after Sonic 3 and features the return of Metal Sonic from CD. The Japanese manual says that Tails Adventure happens before Sonic 2, but that doesn't work because the new intro cutscene for Sonic 2 in Origins shows Tails flying for the first time and there are 3 items referencing characters Tails hasn't met yet. Ian Flynn said Segasonic the Hedgehog was after Sonic R on the Bumblekast, but that was 3 years ago, so they might have changed it. It could probably work between Knuckles Chaotix and Sonic Spinball. I put Generations there because of the release date and also to make a clear divide between 90s Classic Sonic and more recent Classic material. As for how the time travel works, I assume the Classic characters lose all memory of it before Sonic 4. Sonic Mania adventures happens before the Encore Mode because Sonic returns from Forces in the exact same pose and the Phantom Ruby doesn't go with him at the same time. This matches up with how it's depicted at the end of Sonic Mania and the Sonic Forces prequel comics, with the Ruby appearing in the future several months before Classic Sonic.

Before I get started, I'm not going to be covering most of the backstory stuff because sonic channel already has most of it and it would get repetitive going over every ancient civilization that got their hands on the Chaos Emeralds.

The thing is, I actually started working on this timeline a few months ago, so I had to fix it up after Sega made their official one. It wasn't too hard because their timeline doesn't cover everything. If they update the Sonic Channel timeline, I guess I'll have to post updated versions of this
