02/06/51 Foss Would Fight – Joe Foss (left), air ace and Medal of Honor winner in World War II, talks with Rep. Harold O. Lovre (R-SD) today in his campaign to get permission to fly in combat if enemy bombers attack this country. Medal of Honor winners are banned from combat under present regulations. Foss is commander of the South Dakota Air National Guard.

12/13/36 Rapid City, S.D., DEC. 13 – A $25,000 WPA project provided for the reproduction of tyrannosaurus rex, giant flesh-eating reptile that lived in the dim past, in Rapid City’s Dinosaur Park, the only one in the United States. It is one of five dinosaurs being reproduced for the park.
