Got Scammed On Discord

For anyone of my mutuals/friends who know me on Discord, I got hijacked. One of my friends unfortunately had this happen, and they contacted me, begging me to contact this person who had a LinkedIn and everything. Looked legit, and I just wanted to clear the false reports. This person had me change my main email account to one that they set up for temporary custody to investigate my account. Now, I can't get back on it. Had to call up my bank and everything. I did what I could to try and cover bases. Be careful out there, folks. I reported what I could, talked to whoever I needed to, but still. Bummer way to go about the week.

((Sorry that this took so long. I also apologize because I decided to be a jerk, and add a little bit of character lore that turns this cute idea into something sad... ^^; I had fun thinking about it, tho))

For the most part, things weren't too bad for Luka, Tamara and Lee when they were babies! Grew up pretty happy well-provided for.

But for the others...

Things were a little rough.

Not the most historically accurate thing, but it’s better than nothing this year. I settled on a ghost bride costume for Kyung, and I’m okay with the simple design of it. It’s the season to be spoopy. I can just smell the incense coming out of that gourd.

Below is the original version of the first drawing. I knew that before pumpkins were used as jack-o-lanterns were made from pumpkins, peoples used turnips. I just didn’t take into account that pumpkins were used AFTER the 18th century, so I made the quick adjustment, but I really liked the jack-o-lantern I had drawn originally. QQ

You know I joke about Jim and his three (four) dads.

I'm genuinely curious on Jim's relationship with Dr. Livesey, Captain Smolett, Squire Trelawny, and John Silver in your story.

(I am pretty certain I may have butchered all their names -wheeze-)

I think you got their names right, actually; Trelawney has that extra "e", but like hell if I noticed at first PFFFFT-

Anyways! I'm actually quite happy you asked, since it got me to look at an unposted/unfinished chapter of The Crew From Guangzhou! I'll share an excerpt:

“Captain Ippuki is my grandfather, actually.  I suppose there’s not much of a point in keeping up a front seeing as how we’ll be sailing with you and your…” The young woman’s voice trailed off near the end, pausing to take another glance at Livesey and Trelawney, who were talking amongst themselves in the distance. “Family?” Kyung finished quizzically, arching a brow at Jim while tilting her head again. The cabin boy turned around to follow her gaze, and simply shrugged in response to her. “You could say that,” Jim replied with a small chuckle. “Doctor Livesey has been a family friend for as long as I can remember, and Squire Trelawney has been most generous by helping me hide from a group of bandits that raided my family’s inn to look for Flint’s treasure map.”

In my story, I can definitely see Jim, at the very least bit, looking at Livesey and Silver being father figures to him while Squire Trelawney and Captain Smollett being seen more like grandpas or avuncular figures. Meanwhile, I feel like Ben would fit as an older brother/cousin to Jim. You know me, I'm a sucker for found family kind of dynamics!

((… Kiiinda… Good news, I have use of my favorite large desktop tablet again! The bad news, I think I have plot amnesia because I haven’t been working on the story for The Crew From Guangzhou too long; my attention span and drive to draw is still selective and absolute crap; and I’m still too stumped to answer certain Asks in my Askbox… QQ Sorry, y’all. I’m a mess, and running on a pretty limited battery. On the plus side, I’ve at least got a pretty bit WIP for the general Return to Treasure Island part of things. I may try to do a sketch dump post of drawings I didn’t post, or only shared on Discord too.))

Alright- Majority vote on the previous poll was: Yes to the pirate monikers!

Captain Feng “Black Thunder” Ippuki/ Captain Black Thunder

Although not that well-known among other pirates, his presence alone can bring a sense of foreboding to some.

The moniker primarily was due to Ippuki having a naturally deep, gravelly baritone.  And possibly because it can cause a visceral reaction on the rare occasion he actually raises his voice.

Some pirates may or may not have decided to give him the nickname due to being unable to pronounce, or remember, his actual name.

Unbeknownst to other pirates, the nickname “Black Thunder” also fits because of how Ippuki’s crew often sneak attack other pirate ships with a “storm” of arrows before firing the cannons.

I also felt inspired with the name from a song by the HU. I know it’s a Mongolian band, but the name stuck out and I honestly just really loved the song.

Kyung “the Tigress”/ Tigress

Alternatively, pirates may just call her “Tigress” if they can’t say, or remember, her actual name.

The moniker was primarily chosen from the more curious of pirates talking with her, and learning that she is an avid practitioner of Tiger-style kung fu.  This was further considered fitting for her because there are rumors that she can tear a full grown man apart with her bare hands (which holds some truth to it).

Some pirates have also likely called her “Tigress” in jest, especially as a jab at her appearance, but the name stuck due to her heavily calloused hands that were conditioned to deal devastating blows.

It also doesn’t help that Kyung tends to growl when she gets angry, and won’t hesitate to use her teeth as either a tool or a weapon.

Shinju “Pearl” Ippuki/ Pearl/ Poisonous Pearl

Shinju is the Japanese name for “Pearl”.  She was often called “Pearl” typically because it was easier for Western pirates to say/remember.  

Some called her “Poisonous Pearl” based on rumors of her using poisons in combat, or poisoning other pirates that she has a vendetta against.

Was also given the nickname “Pearl” from when she frequently was seen wearing a hairpin that had two golden pearls built into it for good fortune, and that she had a particular liking for pearls over any other gemstone besides jade.

Still getting the hang of things, but I’m content with how these turned out.
