haru wasn't sure how they ended up like this. one moment, they were walking back from the shops, both having wanted to do a little window shopping and maybe even just a little shopping in general when the snow slowly began to accumulate on the ground. by then, they had already decided it'd be best for them to get home as soon as they could, not wanting to get trapped in it should it get even worse.

and yet, here they were now, in a field at a park making snow angels just for the hell of it while children were laughing and running around in the distance. kind of serene when haru thought about it.

watching as kenji got up from the snow, the baseball player dusting himself off before he turned his back so haru could help with what was left of the snow, the swimmer hums at his words, occasionally glancing down at the clear imprints of their bodies left behind in the pristine white.

he pats kenji on the back then, signaling he's done and lets his gaze fall upon kenji's as the man turns around to face him again. “ i don't know, i think it would've been fine by itself.. ” he teased, his lips slightly quirking into a smile before he tipped his head to the side. “ ready to head back now? ”

y'know, a part of haru felt like he should go ahead and let the big oaf in. it wasn't really his fault for getting them lost on the way to see this light up water show haru had been looking forward to for a while. after all, haru was also partially to blame for letting the man lead the way, knowing full well how bad sousuke was with directions.

and yet...

“ no, i don't think i will. ” he wasn't really upset, but he did like to mess with sousuke from time to time. plus, if the man was smart enough, he'd twist the knob and find that haru hadn't locked the door at all.

well, was only simply blocking the door with his foot. loser.

“ promise to take me to see the show again, and i'll think about letting you in. ”

haru's head turned to look at dan heng from where he sat, the crackle of the fire he had been entranced by filling the silence. was that a bad thing? sure, it could've been a lot worse--but haru felt like being snowed in like this wasn't much of a thing to worry about.

there was plenty of food and water, plus the storm would most likely pass sooner than later. at least, that's what the weather report had said.

so he merely hummed, acknowledging the other man's words as his gaze drifted back to the fire, a mug of tea warming his hands. “ is that so bad? ” a sip of his tea, blue eyes watching dan heng from his peripheral vision, an amused expression now on his face.

“ didn't realize i was that bad of company. ”

i feel like when it comes to the sappiness factor, i always gotta go all out for you. which honestly makes so much sense. you've been one of my longest friends ever. as easy as it is to say online, because that's where i met you, i haven't had a friendship for this long either. sometimes i think that's wild but then i realize that maybe that's just the way the world works, and i'm okay with that.

as i was thinking of what to say for this part of your specialized gift, it dawned on me that i'll either sound like a broken record or never have enough to say when it comes to you. or better yet, a mixture of both. earlier this year we hit 11 years of friendship, just like i hit 11 years of being in the rpc over all. and i wondered just what my life would be like if i didn't have you by my side.

there have been many friendships where i thought i'd die without having them by my side if we parted, and yet within the last couple of years, i've parted with people that i realized just weren't doing it for me and vice versa. those partings hurt and chipped away at my personal self, some of them i even wasted my tears on, but i've moved on and realized i'm better off without them. and maybe they're better off without me. like chapters in a book, it all has to end. we came and we went and we had some highs and some lows. yet with you, i'd probably be more devastated if a day like that ever came to pass. even if i would eventually come to a point of acceptance and moving on as comes with life, you're truly the one person i refuse to see myself without. i know that it's selfish and all but i said what i said.

you're one of the main constants i've had during my entire time in the rpc. from our chaotic days of jack and rin ( one of our best crossover ships to date ), to being salty over the trash that is desc and adoring ben and carlos, to now crying over a pathetic bi and his jesus boyfriend ( icb i got onto the jayvik train so late in the game ). we've followed each other through almost every account, especially my millions of them. and i've been able to love on your haru for all these years, regardless of canon or crossover ( give it up for his harem ). you match my saltiness and deal with my nonsense just like i deal with yours. but it's okay it's all out of love and i know that if anything happens, you'll be ready to throw hands. after throwing hands with me when you see me in the airport whenever i get to see you in person.

saying thank you does not feel like it's enough. it never feels like it's enough. but i must make do with the words that are available to me because the feelings i have could create its own novel of how much i love you so much. and i will always love you. no matter how many more hells you drag me into. i'm with you until the very end. because well, to be a basic makoharu girlie: it's meaningless without you

my love and appreciation for you is limitless because i know that i do not deserve you as a friend, and yet you've stood by my side probably more faithfully than almost anyone i know ( or i guess in relation to the people i no longer associate with ). you could've been like almost everyone else that's left me but you haven't and for that alone, i'm forever grateful. i really hope we get to continue being badass besties until we're old and gray and cut up and act like fools, because that sounds like one hell of a time

anyway, i think i went on a long enough tangent. no matter what happens, please know that i always love you and i wish you nothing but the best for your birthday and so much more.
