𝐈. NARRATIVE. › … 𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧 .
immediate regret , the expression on her face not faltering at first , some stubbornness reserved for the never ending cycle of their relationship . year after year , the love she had for seb seemed to flicker like the flame of a candle that couldn’t be blown out for any blessing , no gust of wind strong enough , no birthday wish to forget successful … audrey knew that love didn’t last forever but if it did then why did it have to be this one ? the truth is that their hatred , their game and the way they went around in circles seemed to serve her because it meant she never had to let go but there is something about these words , the emotion in her own that seems to cut dangerously close to the very core of who she is , who she’s always been .
she wasn’t the type of person who was lost for words , she always had something to say , something harsh and judgemental to spit back . she had said things she shouldn’t have a hundred times before but she couldn’t help but think that maybe he was right , that she was sick . it wasn’t just the words but the proximity that made it feel like she couldn’t breathe , gaze raising , blue eyes meeting his darker ones as her bottom lip trembled slightly … she didn’t remember the last time she’d really looked at him … all she did was breathe … no reply. she was scared that he could see through her then , it was silly really , pretty childish to be paranoid that someone could see through you . audrey was a religious person but there had been a hundred times when she had wanted to run back to seb , get on her knees and give in to her weakness ( because that was what she’d been taught it was )& beg him for another chance . he might not have known it but in her heart , against all her logical thoughts , she worshipped him more than nay god and she would have crucified herself right then if she really thought there was a chance for them .
she had done it to herself in the end , she had thrown away the one person that she could love , had loved for the sake of feeling like she was following the right path . and now she was never going to be worthy , not just of her religion , not just of god but of any lesser force either , of seb . audrey didn’t hate seb because she hated seb , she hated seb because she hated herself and seb had loved her just as she was . she would spend the rest of her life sinking with the regret , her heart feeling like a led balloon that landed in the atlantic ocean . all these thoughts pulsated in her head but nothing came out of her mouth , tears welling in her eyes . this had never happened before , “ i’m sorry , “ that was it , she tears her gaze and turns to leave . she had done it to herself in the end , she had thrown away the one person that she could love , had loved for the sake of feeling like she was following the right path . and now she was never going to be worthy , not just of her religion , not just of god but of any lesser force either , of seb . audrey didn’t hate seb because she hated seb , she hated seb because she hated herself and seb had loved her just as she was . she would spend the rest of her life sinking with the regret , her heart feeling like a led balloon that landed in the atlantic ocean . all these thoughts pulsated in her head but nothing came out of her mouth , tears welling in her eyes . this had never happened before , “ i’m sorry , “ that was it , she tears her gaze and turns to leave .
𝐬𝐞𝐛 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐣𝐚𝐛 , a judgmental remark . . . something , anything . audrey always put up a fight , she never let him have the last word . maybe he didn’t think his words would hold as much power as they currently did . that she’d take what he said and throw it into the dirt . denying each and every word that he uttered . there were times it was difficult for seb . hard for him to see or think the girl he knew , she was still in there . that like it or not , all of what audrey was , it was all something that seb had fallen in love with . despite the flaws , despite the obvious differences and things that stood in their way . he loved her and even if he said , he felt as though it was all lie . . . that everything she felt for him back then was some mind fuck . he knew that wasn’t actually true . he knew that what they had , it was real . ( they were real . ) until everything fell to pieces and walls upon walls were built around the two of them .
seeing her reaction caused an almost confused look to wash over the males features . it wasn’t exactly like seb to be at a loss for words either . but the silence , the tears that began to stream down her cheeks . . . it wasn’t something he would’ve ever expected to see out of audrey . not when their relationship had taken the shift it had in the years they’d known each other . they’d both become their own version of pros when it came to being around the other . internally losing it while doing their best to seem as angry or put off by the other as possible . throwing insults or whatever else at each other . seb forever on this plot for revenge . swearing by the fact that he wanted to making audrey’s life a living hell . but under it all . . . seb was hurt . his heart was broken . he felt confused as to why things ended the way they did . he did the things he did because he’d always love her and he hated that . he didn’t understand how one person could have such a hold on him . that something that ended years ago still pulled out the reaction it did for him . that he still felt this need to be near her . . . maybe he was the sick one ? ( or maybe they both weren’t okay . )
“ i’m sorry “ it wasn’t something seb would’ve thought he’d hear audrey say to him . unable to help the way his eyebrows furrowed , the words still stuck in his throat . despite seb being on a mission to make audrey as miserable as he felt . . . seeing her like this . seeing her cry , it hurt . his chest felt tight , an almost uncomfortable feeling . he didn’t know what he was supposed to do . worst of all , he didn’t know why he felt guilty . . . wasn’t this the point ? to break her like he had felt he’d been broken ? a way of revenge ? something checked off the list ? if it was meant to be all that . . . why did it all feel as horrible as it did ? why did he want to stop it ? ⏤ maybe he should’ve just let her leave . tell himself it wasn’t his place and she was asking for it . convince himself that her walking away from the conversation crying , saying sorry . . . it was a win . but despite trying to tell himself to let her go , he couldn’t . ❛ wait , audrey ! ❜ practically rushing over to her and reaching out to grab her wrist . an impulsive way to get her to stay . ❛ can you just stop for a sec⏤ ❜ fingertips against her skin , seb could feel what felt like a bump . eyes fell to her wrist , seeing the scar on her wrist . there was only one thing that popping in his mind . one thing telling him he was an idiot if he believed that this was anything other than what it was . ❛ audrey ? ❜ again , a loss for words as his eyes met hers , hand still on her wrist . thinking that if he let go she’d run again .

sophia had just finished up guest starring in a podcast. she had been down in the lobby for a total of four minutes, just waiting for a response from her driver to let her know that he was on his way to pick her up. yes, sophia did have a car, but with people coming back into town from their thanksgiving plans with family, she didn’t feel like sitting through traffic from something as simple as forgetting not to get on the highway. so, she used the family driver today — he drove for her, her siblings, and her mother. constantly refreshing something, she heard the other speak and it caused her to look up from her phone.
“ hm? ” a little caught off guard by the fact that she was suddenly being spoken to, a break from the silence that once was. however, she wasn’t going to leave him hanging, especially since it was around lunchtime and it looked like her driver was taking a lunch break. “ you mean me going to the vending machine with you? ” she asked, just wanting to make sure she understood everything. " i-i mean i don’t mind, although it is a little bit of a random suggestion. "
𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 asking another random stranger to go to the vending machines with him . . . by all means , it was completely and ironically random with how much that word was being repeated . but that didn’t exactly stop seb . he was looking for a little entertainment . a little break from whatever insanity was brewing in the back of his mind or even just a break from the studio that didn’t involve complete silence . which , could’ve been shocking in itself for the male being that he usually wanted everyone to leave him the hell alone but this was a rare moment . or maybe it was less rare lately due to the lack of excitement going on in his life . and by that , it didn’t mean a lack of work or socializing but . . . it more had to do with wanting things to spin and turn to chaos . it was something that felt oddly more . . . comfortable for the male with how he grew up . ( but that was besides the point . )
❛ exactly what i mean , ❜ he spoke directly before standing up from where he was sitting . glancing at the girl , he tilted his head in the direction he knew the vending machines to be . ❛ it’ll give you a story to tell . met a random guy at a recording studio who offered vending machine snacks . too hard to question despite how random it might be . ❜ seb spoke , a raise of his eyebrows as he put his hand out . not really betting on her taking it but more like a gesture to go along with his words to get her to come with . ❛ random could be fun . ❜

in one of his more delightful moods after binge drinking for days , taz seemed to have been forced to be sober and somewhat responsive for a series of interviews . it did happen sometimes . being responsible was not his favourite thing but he had agreed to drive seb to one of the industry mixers they’d both been invited to … destined to end in trouble . “ i fucking hate my life . i hate these people . i hate traffic , “ he grumbled senselessly . he fluctuated frequently between moods , ecstatic , miserable , thirsty for chaos , indifferent to everything … it was hard to keep up . this was probably one of the more level ones . stopped in traffic , he squinted angrily ahead , “ this is your fault , “ he blamed his much younger friend . yes , taz was a shining example of how not to get older with grace … he still functioned like a teenager .
𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫 , seb had a way of being all doom and gloom . perhaps there was a reason the two had gotten along despite seb finding everyone to be a waste of his own time . which said a lot being that he didn’t think much about his own time either . . . but that was an either great or poorly kept secret . the two males weren’t at all the prim and proper types of hollywood . the trash of hollywood , if you will . “it’s my party and i can yap if i want to. i see they’re letting in any creature that crawls in from the streets, now aren’t they?” adelaide said with a huff of annoyance, arms folding tightly across her chest as she leaned against the wall. she hated her parents for taking her away from everything she’s ever known. she was almost thirty years old and her entire identity had been defined by being a princess. she didn’t do hard work, she didn’t have any talent, she just knew how to be royal. and with that so cruelly taken away from her - she really had absolutely nothing.
she hated this country. and the male stood besides her now, blowing smoke into the night air certainly wasn’t doing anything to change her opinion on this god forsaken place. “do something about it?” she said with a short laugh and a shake of her head. “so what should i do? stick my flag in the ground and declare this land mine and force these tasteless, gaudy neanderthals to have taste and style and class? because that’s the only thing i can do to irradicate my issues at present. it’s bloody hopeless.” she said, dramatic sigh leaving her lips as her fingers pressed into her temples.

⏤ narrowing his eyes , seb could either go with it . tell her she was right , that he was there because he wanted to forever ruin her life . or he could make her believe that there wasn’t even a small part of him that was swayed to move there because of her . like she was a distant memory to him . someone that didn’t have the power to slip into his mind anymore . ❛ why ? ❜ he questioned , moving slightly closer . ❛ is it ‘cause there’s a sick part of you that hopes that i spend all my time trying to follow you around like some lovesick puppy ? a part of you that hopes you’re still relevant to me ? ❜ the words poured out , a tinge of cruelty to them .
