We started off this trip a little before 10AM, aaaaand...Becky's hydration pack sprung a leak right at the #trailhead. We sweated up some #switchbacks for 3.7 miles all the way up to #cascadepass, which had fat little chipmunks and a cool old #mountaineer. We were only supposed to be about 2 miles from the #sahaleglaciercamp but it did NOT feel like it. We took a break in a #meadow on the ridge (I took an exhaustion nap/cry in a meadow on the ridge while Becky ate grapes and rubbed my back a lot) and Becky convinced me to keep going. Because I was 200% not feeling it. After several breaks, we finally made it to the top and found a #campsite that was shielded from the wind by rings of rock. We had to scare away a #mountaingoat or two to secure possession, but the battle was brief. And this was our #view! Hardest thing I've ever done and probably the hardest thing I'll do for a while because that's not happening again for a loooong time. Today we drove through #marblemount, the "entrance to the American #alps" and hiked 8 miles (that was actually 10) through #forests, #meadows, #snowfields, and #boulders to get to the most amazing views I've seen in this state.
