Motorcycle Ride: Howard’s Twisted Tongue

Howard's Twisted Tongue is also known as Howard’s Lick, Lost River State Park Road, and West Virginia Route 12 this is a technically difficult road to ride your motorcycle. It is an unmarked 1 to 2 lane road with multiple 180 switchbacks and hairpins.

Enjoy this train driver's view of the Hakone Tozan Line in Kanagawa Prefecture. This is the 40-minute train ride from Hakone-Yumoto Station to Gora Station. The train stops at five stations and passes by 13 tunnels before it arrives at the Gora Station. It also makes three switchbacks (when the driver and the conductor switch positions) in three stations, that's why in the title, I say that these are both the driver's and the conductor's views. Please listen to the automated on-train announcements because they're quite informative. My sincerest apologies for the noise in this crowded train (the Japanese passengers are usually quiet while foreigners make all the noise as in the case in this video), but I hope you enjoy the scenes!

Finished Ticket to Ride Legacy (3p) tonight. It was most fun earlier on before it became so involved and you had to keep track of so many things while people were waiting to take their turns.

Also played Switchbacks as a palate cleanser. Four times with 3 players. Four ties. We checked and couldn’t figure out what we were doing wrong, if anything.

Have they announced a 20th anniversary TTR?

Rollin' with Samantha!

On June 16, 1884, the very first roller coaster opened at New York's iconic Coney Island. The coaster, called the Switchback Railway, was one of the earliest designed specifically for amusement in the United States. It was created by LaMarcus Adna Thompson (1848-1919), an American inventor and businessman.

To commemorate the occasion, we are featuring Samantha at Coney Island and a Thousand Other Islands. This book is a humorous travel narrative by Marietta Holley (1836-1926), published under one of her pen names, Josiah Allen’s Wife. Holley was a bestselling American author and satirist, often compared to Mark Twain, known for her sharp wit and commentary on political and social issues, especially those related to women's rights and prohibition. Our edition was published in 1911 by The Christian Herald, Bible House in New York and does not credit any illustrators.

The story follows Samantha Allen, Holley’s beloved and recurring character, a wise, no-nonsense, middle-aged farmwoman from upstate New York. The book comically critiques the chaos and commercialism of Coney Island, as well as the excesses of Gilded Age tourism, while showcasing Samantha's moral reflections on the modern world. Her commentary is rich with humor, satire, and sly social criticism, primarily aimed at gender roles, class inequality, and America’s growing obsession with spectacle and entertainment.

has franco said anything about the incident with liam? i haven't seen any interviews with him or heard any radio messages during the race

Yeah, he touched my rear wheel I think and he broke his front wing. I'm not sure what happened. I know that in turn 1 he braked very late, he passed, left me without space on the track and then it seems he wanted to cutback me when he came back and broke his front wing. So that's that.

so I'm not one to make a fuss about character skins one way or another but there is something interesting about the examples chosen to demonstrate that

Josef Cernan(player character) as Salim Othman

Zoe Anders(npc) as Julia

Tomas Carter(presumed prologue character) as Jason kolchek

So it's likely everyone, not just our five players, but that begs the question of what outfits other characters will have?

As much as I like the idea of certain characters rocking some of their monstrous forms I imagine it'll just be outfits so... Since it's for sale then why not speculate on it?

Pari Simms can obviously only be Erin since this is only the second time using her model so maybe Erin with long hair then?

Nolan Stafford could be Olsen, Vince Barnes, Balathu(likely human only), my guess would be Vince since he's already shown wearing a cap sometimes and it would be harder to nail Olsen's look without the scars

Brianna Young is not applicable but maybe they'll let her wear a fun little outfit too

Noah Mitchell has a broad range with, Charlie Anderson, Dennis Clarke, David Milton, Daniel, Joey Gomez(human only) and actor HH Holmes, I am going to go out on a limb and say that historical clothing is out, especially if they're leaving hair as is, I can see the hoa dev wanting to prioritise hoa characters, but Daniel could be a possibility too but tbh I want it to be Dennis 😂

Samantha Cooper has a very limited range given they can only really use her dark pictures models, so she could either be dressed as the marketeer from the MoM prologue, the student from the tdim epilogue or Scarlett from switchback, who really has nothing interesting going on without her red hair so either she's getting a very generic looking outfit or we get to see the marketeer's outfit in action scenes so who knows on that front

Laura Eisele has a huge range as well, with Jenny May, Tanya Clarke, Tabitha Milton, Taylor, Clarice Stokes, Laila(human Belial) and probably not Michelle Morello given we don't see her alive, My guess is that they'll go with Taylor because it's easy but I would love to be able to get a solid look at Laila's tattoo's too

And Lamarcus could be Junior, Vince Barnes, Kurum, Mark Nestor and switch back's Anthony... Probably not Kurum due to the scarification and all that, again regular switchback passengers just aren't that interested as skins so it'd probably be junior or Mark(but I think it's be great to have two Vinces wondering around with a Vinya reunion on the side lol)
