Jax had heard some difficult shit in his lifetime, but this was probably the most difficult night. He’d always wanted to protect some people, but when it was your mother that you couldn’t keep safe, it was entirely different. She was his mother and she had gotten hurt. He knew what night that was. He was still a huge mess over the reality that he knew that it had been the club’s fault that Donna had been killed. Bobby’s party, he’d not even stayed at. He’d come home and he had told Tara that he had helped Opie kill a man and then crawled into bed, and Tara, his center, had wrapped her arms around him. He’d been so upset. But while he was curled up in bed with the woman that he loved, the only other woman he’d loved in his life, his mother, had been getting horribly attacked. There was nothing about any of it that was okay. He was glad he knew but how had he not known his mother was so hurt? He didn’t blame Tara. She did what she had to, as a doctor. 

“I’m not going to start drinking every night, Tara. You know I prefer weed to that shit anyway. But, right now, something has to numb the pain, the feeling of fucking failure, the feeling that I let my mother down and that she got hurt. I failed my mother as her son, and I failed her by not knowing that’d happened to her.”  He nodded, as he held her close to him, not wanting to let her go. “Good, I just, I need you close or this is going to swallow me whole. It might anyway.”  Then he nodded, and moved to sit back down. “There’s nothing I could have done to stop it, right? Tell me that, at least.” 

WHEN  TARA  HAD  GOTTEN  THE  CALL  FROM  GEMMA  ,   it had jolted her completely awake , for she’d known it couldn’t be for anything good. but when she’d gotten back to her own house , and saw gemma huddled in the passenger’s seat of unser’s car with cuts and bruises plastered on nearly ever visible area of skin , her heart had sunk to the deepest depths of her stomach and her breath had caught in her throat.  while it was undeniable that her and gemma had been viciously at each other’s throats in the past , in that moment , there was nothing tara wouldn’t have done for the teller matriarch.  if she didn’t want anyone to know? she wouldn’t say anything.  but one thing she would do was make sure gemma was taken to st. thomas for the proper treatment that she couldn’t be given in her living room.

❝  SHE  DIDN’T  WANT  YOU  OR  CLAY  TO  KNOW.  ❞  tara’s voice is soft , hazel eyes kinder than normal.  ❝  while your mother rarely agrees with me , i know she would agree with me when i say that she is proud to have you as her son.  ❞  she could see the pain pooling in his eyes get more intense as the time ticks on , and she feels as if that pain is seeping its way into her own heart.  she sighs softly against the fabric of his shirt as he pulls her into his arms.  ❝  i’m right here with you for as long as you want me to be.  ❞   eyes flutter open as the two move to sit back down on the bed.  she takes one of his hands into both of hers , her thumb rubbing circles on the back of his hand.  ❝  babe , i promise there was nothing you could’ve done.  i know it’s hard but .... you’ve got to look in front of you to find the ways you can help her now.  she still needs you now.  ❞

VERY IMPORTANT PSA

It is now @secretquecn, @alwaysfine, @narcobust, @glowyfox, @riiverflows, how many other blogs she’s made this week’s birthday and I’m 1000% calling her out right now.  

Everyone should go wish her a happy birthday, because she is amazing. Lisa has been my Tara for going on two years now, and she puts up with my ass regularly. There’s also going to hopefully me more on this later, but if it doesn’t happen, just remember that I love you very much, you mean more to me than you could ever imagine and you make me love Jax & Tara when we write them, in a way that canon cannot do.  Honestly, Jax would be lost without your Tara, and whether we’re playing that game where I give you a number and you write that draft, I’m torturing you with painful gifsets because I can, telling you that songs like The Day is Gone remind me of you, or me telling you the most random shit in the world, my life would be missing something without you.  I love our random threads that pop up, how I’ll never archive any on my tracker, because you like to reply to random things which I love.  I love that we have such insane writing chemistry that I wrote you a reply to your Gemma that I still consider the best reply I’ve ever written, and that no matter who you play, I throw Jax at them for some sort of ridiculous shenanigans. We cannot forget the amount of painful shit we have written together, the amount of ridiculous stuff we’ve written teenager to adult, and just all of it.

But above all the character stuff, you’re such an amazing person, you were my friend last year during the hardest year of my life, you always know just how to make me feel better by telling me I’m your favorite, and I love that we both share a deep love of Titanic, and can share so much random shit.

Now that you’ve been thoroughly called out, I’m here to tell you, Happy Birthday. I love you a whole lot and I look forward to more ridiculous shenanigans with all your characters (Jax hits on them all tbh), and talking to you, because you are amazing <3

                          “ Something I can help you with, Knowles? ” There was only the faintest hint of ice in her tone as she forced a plastic sort of smile at the brunette, her head cocked obnoxiously to the side. She should be playing nice, and she knew it, but she couldn’t help it. The whole keep your enemies closer thing didn’t really work for her. She was too blunt. “ Or were you lookin for Jax, cause…Ain’t seen ‘im. ”

      Jax had missed this the first two times. Abel had to be taken out of Wendy, when she OD’d.  Thomas, he had been in prison, but he had to say that he could do this 1000 more times, if it felt like this. Granted, Tara would probably not agree about the 1000 more times.  He smiled at her and he leaned down to kiss the baby girl’s head. He had a daughter.  “She is. I’ve never been that great at not being the fun parent, you know.” He smiled at her, leaning over to kiss her. “Perfect, and she helped us. She helped us start listening again and not lose each other.”  He smiled at her. “I won’t break her, right? He hadn’t broke Abel or Thomas, so he’d probably be just fine. 

AS  SHE  LOOKS  AT  THEIR  NEW  BABY  GIRL  ,  tara remembers why the seven hours of labor was worth it.  finger runs across the child’s chubby cheek , her smile only growing when their tiny daughter coos softly.  ❝  looks like she agrees with you.  ❞  tara doesn’t hesitate when he moves to kiss her , but instead invites the contact.  a year ago , she would’ve had a much different reaction.  tara nods in agreement , a sigh escaping slightly parted lips.  ❝  she did.  we’ve come a long way since then ; we’ve come a long way since those two teenagers who never mastered focusing during a study session together.  ❞  she can’t help but smile as she remembers the memories of jax poking her non stop while she was trying to do her homework , or the later times where they never even opened up a book and just ended up tangled up with each other in someone’s bed.  his question brings her back , and she shifts closer to him.  ❝  she’s a baby , she won’t break if you touch her. promise.  ❞

He smirked at her. “You’re welcome, babe. It’s a struggle, but you know, I have to say that it is a struggle.”  He liked how close they were and often, he found himself unable to ever stop touching her. It was like he was addicted to touching her and her clothes did not even need to be off. He loved what they had and it made him really happy, to be with her.  He’d never really been in a relationship before, but this one was really important to him. “I wouldn’t either.” He rolled his eyes.  “Tara, you are with me. You are not as innocent as you like to think you are.”  Then she stood up and he took her hand. “You know that I don’t like that either, but it is fun to punch them. How about this one hits on you or does this?” He leaned in to kiss her. 

WIND  KISSED  LIPS  TURN  UPWARDS  ,  before the smile progresses to a laugh.  heads shakes , before she leans her body towards his and rests her head against his shoulder.  arms wrap around one of his , pulling it close to her as she shivers when the wind blows again.  it’s his words that cause her to untangle her arms from his , only to feign a shocked expression which was followed by a mock gasp.  ❝  me not innocent?  that’s a really serious accusation.  ❞  there’s a wink , before she stands up in hopes to leave this pathetic high school party.  tara swings their hands back and forth once he’s standing , before pulling him closer as he moves to kiss her.  she could kiss him forever.  she smiles into the kiss , before letting go of his hands and resting them against his cheeks.  ❝  well , i can’t say i’d have anything to complain about.  ❞
