clark has always admired john; both as a member of the league, and also as a person. it isn’t to say that not everyone he’s worked with has the compassion and want to save everyone that they can, but john goes to the next level – it is on par, and maybe even beyond the mindset of superman’s dilemma. and he can understand john very easily, along with staying level headed when it comes between their duties (which is somewhat the opposite when it comes to hal).

though clark is rather hesitant when it comes to serious, personal relationships; he is also very easily loving. with john, it had started off as something of comfort, and then accidentally leading on to MORE than just simple friendships. what soon became gentle hugs, and simple hands upon shoulder of reassurance soon became brushing of fingertips, palms over chest to feel heartbeats — it is something that clark is very slow with, but also craves from the other man. and he knows it isn’t easy for john, knowing his tragedies… but he hopes that his own affection is enough to fill in the gaps.

as superman is the protector of their green earth, he is also there for john all the same. though it may seem difficult due to their duties, they’re always willing to help one another. rather it be brainiac’s shenanigans, or difficulties involving the green lantern corp – help is always a call away. battle boyfriends? i think so!

comfort is a large part of this relationship, and clark knows that even if he tried everything in his power to help ease john’s pain – he knows its not going to go away anytime soon. and that’s fine, clark has that everlasting patience, and the will to at least try and be there for john through his ups and downs.

IT HAPPENS SO ABRUPTLY  . the hole within john’s breast once erupting with anger is now settled and laid to rest  ,  confusion nestled deeply within the bronze roots of his features  .   ❛     ‘n another thing   —     ❜   hostile words are left drowning in a pool of confusion and muffled breaths  ,  his own lips alight with fire at the touch of clark’s own elysian flesh  .  it’s wrong  ,  this he knows  .  a kiss he’s so desperately craved from his ally is now gifted in a deep embrace  ,  tears granted enough space to grace the curved of his tightened eyelids  .  he can’t open his eyes  ,  or perhaps  ,  he doesn’t want to  .
