Mobile phone and seat belt detection cameras are gaining prominence in the Indian market in an effort to improve road safety and security. Drivers will only receive warnings initially, after which they will be subjected to severe fines. This AI-enabled camera technology can detect drivers who don't buckle up or talk on the phone while driving. A technology like this is being employed globally and has proven successful in developed countries. How does the camera technology work? These cameras are positioned high above the road and take photos automatically through the windscreens of passing vehicles. The photographs are then analyzed by Artificial Intelligence software, which determines whether or not a motorist was using a cellphone, and any images that are not highlighted are erased. When the AI detects a driver using a cellphone, it is reviewed by an expert before being forwarded for an infraction. Drivers are then provided a copy of the image of the offense committed giving them a fair chance to protest their innocence in the event that the fine was issued in error or if they can establish the object in their hand was not a phone. Even if a fine is imposed in error following a human check, it will be rescinded later. It's likely that motorists and drivers would soon identify the locations these cameras are placed and try to dodge. To prevent that portable mobile phone detection cameras can also be considered.
