a tarot reading for every nhl team: vancouver canucks
the hanged man, page of swords, two of swords (reversed)
life moves pretty fast. if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you might miss it.
this reading is, as with the duality presented by the two, both a warning and a reassurance. the warning -- time passes more quickly than you think, and you are sacrificing a lot trying to maintain whatever unsteady path you have. the reassurance -- there is a path forward and people available for the seizing of opportunities.
#dont think theres ever been a more accurate reading of the canucks than the hanged man#god this whole season. the man has been hanged. what is there left to do but watch his body swing in the wind#canucks

it really is crazy how quickly people were willing to just let chatgpt do everything for them. i have never even tried it. brother i don't even know if it's just a website you go to or what. i do not know where chatgpt actually lives, because i can decide my own grocery list.

a tarot reading for every nhl team: montreal canadiens
queen of swords (reversed), the hierophant (reversed), page of wands
to you from failing hands we throw the torch. be yours to hold it high
the queen of swords and hierophant, even reversed, are both traditionalists. the page of wands is a newcomer. the montreal canadiens are the winningest team in the nhl over its hundred-year history; they had a way, but that way is gone, the twenty-six cups are behind you, and you have fought to be in and out of the playoffs in this new, modern era ever since.
the cards make it clear: the only way for the habs is forward, to embrace the new, the young and the creative.

Hello again!
Based on this post ( which was absolutely fantastic), I have another question.
Do you ever see ownership changing? If so, is there anyone who you wish would take the charge?
Thank you once again for the lovely reply. I hope you have a lovely day. Go Canucks!
i don't see it changing and honestly? i don't want it to change.
the thing about the aquilinis, the thing about the majority of vancouver media, the commentators, the analysts - they're all from vancouver. most people involved in the team are vancouverites. there's something about the team's importance to the community in vancouver, how engrained it is in the fabric of the city, that's hard to grasp if you don't grow up with it or immerse yourself in it.
is that to say that no non-vancouverite can be a canucks fan? no! do non vancouverites have amazing canucks takes and opinions every day? sure do! but the people in charge, the people with microphones on sportsnet, the people who get paid the big bucks to write in publications like the province and the athletic and tsn and sportsnet. they are all vancouverites, because if there's something vancouver craves, and vancouver loves to embrace, its one of our own.
all that to say, despite aquilini's many, many flaws, no i don't see ownership changing. and i'd prefer him in the drivers seat than some faceless corporation where the canucks are the last concern on their mind. its nice to know, that despite aquilini's faults, he cares and though he cares about the money more, he cares about the team, the city, the fans and the community as well.
#hope this answers the question!!#its so complicated its a love hate relationship#i dont want him to be replaced i just want him to wake up! thats all!#much rather have an eccentric local multi-millionaire than someone like fenway sports group#who would probably be more concerned with their other more revenue rich ventures in global sports leagues than with the nhl#come back to my inbox anytime :]] always welcome here!#asks!

Thoughts?
oh boy
well im not surprised in the slightest, honestly. the aquilinis have always prioritized revenue in the short term over long term development to win a cup. they'd rather have guaranteed money from 2 or 3 home playoff games in the first round rather than sacrificing that potential revenue for a few years so in 3/4 years we can win a cup. since the aquilinis bought the team in the late 90s, that has been the philosophy.
francesco is also a frequent meddler, and is definitely the reason why we did not add anything significant on deadline day, despite having accrued over $10 million in cap space by strategically sending our waiver-exempt players down to the ahl.
combine the meddling with the rising prices of seats and food, the removal of quarter season ticket packages and the mass increases in half and full season ticket packages with the abysmal home record and unsatisfying, gruelling on-ice product, there's no surprise that the only team lower than the canucks on this list is buffalo, who are about to go into their 14th year of their playoff drought.
#this is a little skewed probably just bc the canucks fans who are athletic subscribers are more likely to be skeptics#me included icl#but more or less. yeah fair and accurate imo#sooo honoured you thought to ask me#sorry im not super active on here but im going to try my best to be better at asks and such!! so pls ask away#im here for u!!#asks!

#as a child my mom made us enter the house through the door nearest to a sink so we could wash our hands#because kids are gross and outside is gross and washing hands is good actually#although i will say my one exception is if i washed my hands immediately before leaving the place i was before#i walk home so if i wash my hands at my location and then walk home i dont wash my hands when i get home#but normally i do. because outside places are gross because people are gross

i actually watch women's sports, unlike 90% of people commenting on it, and im sick of so called allies who defend trans women's participation in them with the premise that trans women should be insignificant in number or ordinary in their performance.

“Get a rat and put it in a cage and give it two water bottles. One is just water, and one is water laced with either heroin or cocaine. If you do that, the rat will almost always prefer the drugged water and almost always kill itself very quickly, right, within a couple of weeks. So there you go. It’s our theory of addiction. Bruce comes along in the ‘70s and said, “Well, hang on a minute. We’re putting the rat in an empty cage. It’s got nothing to do. Let’s try this a little bit differently.” So Bruce built Rat Park, and Rat Park is like heaven for rats. Everything your rat about town could want, it’s got in Rat Park. It’s got lovely food. It’s got sex. It’s got loads of other rats to be friends with. It’s got loads of colored balls. Everything your rat could want. And they’ve got both the water bottles. They’ve got the drugged water and the normal water. But here’s the fascinating thing. In Rat Park, they don’t like the drugged water. They hardly use any of it. None of them ever overdose. None of them ever use in a way that looks like compulsion or addiction. There’s a really interesting human example I’ll tell you about in a minute, but what Bruce says is that shows that both the right-wing and left-wing theories of addiction are wrong. So the right-wing theory is it’s a moral failing, you’re a hedonist, you party too hard. The left-wing theory is it takes you over, your brain is hijacked. Bruce says it’s not your morality, it’s not your brain; it’s your cage. Addiction is largely an adaptation to your environment. […] We’ve created a society where significant numbers of our fellow citizens cannot bear to be present in their lives without being drugged, right? We’ve created a hyperconsumerist, hyperindividualist, isolated world that is, for a lot of people, much more like that first cage than it is like the bonded, connected cages that we need. The opposite of addiction is not sobriety. The opposite of addiction is connection. And our whole society, the engine of our society, is geared towards making us connect with things. If you are not a good consumer capitalist citizen, if you’re spending your time bonding with the people around you and not buying stuff—in fact, we are trained from a very young age to focus our hopes and our dreams and our ambitions on things we can buy and consume. And drug addiction is really a subset of that.”
— Johann Hari, Does Capitalism Drive Drug Addiction?
