Hello I am never on much 🫡 I still read the manhwa but I'm not as into it as I was before

Still hope to see some of the side stories adapted tho

I feel like the reverse has been more popular lately... it's too bad bc I can't enjoy it as much anymore ;; even if the dynamic looks "right" I still know it's YX and not XY.

A lot of the XY content creators seem to have moved on but YX are still around.

I kind of get it because I've stopped making content too but XY has a special part in my heart and I still wanna eat lots of content with them.

ok i’m ngl i never really cared about top/bottom that much in ships but i finally do understand it now… it rly is all about characterization

ig i’ve always just been pretty flex with it that it never bothered me too much

but my XY ship… i no longer really vibe with the YX version… sometimes i’m fine with YX if the characterization does align with how i see them but uuuu…

i can’t really enjoy YX because a lot of content with YX makes Y like… very stoic, put-together, cool… some of his official art is very cool but omg in the past year more content with him was released and it showed him being very awkward and shy,,

i think yes, Y can take the initiative but he won’t actually take charge of a relationship

like… Y is actually really soft on the inside… so i can’t vibe with the interpretation that he’s overtly serious and self-confident

i honestly think ppl only like YX because it’s more stereotypical in BL ships to have the ‘cooler’ one being the top, but i really feel like ppl are just ignoring a lot of his characterization because of it.

i get so frustrated reading love triangles and then the writers end up... making one of the LIs turn into a nasty person

like to justify the final pairing...

ahhhhh i hate whenever that happens

i was reading a webtoon and when i caught up to the latest chapters the author managed to make both the LIs look awful, but particularly the designated second male lead. and i wanted to bash my head against the wall because it felt so... forced...

it reminds me of when i wanted to write my own love triangle years ago lol

back when i was reading a lot of shoujo manga, there was a tendency for the male lead to be the more darker and edgier type with a troubled backstory and it drove me up the wall when the romances ended up feeling like the LI was looking towards the MC to fix their problems

i wanted to write a love triangle that ended with the MC in a relationship with the 2nd LI and then acknowledging that they can love and care for the 1st LI as a friend, but they are not going to “fix” them

ok i won’t lie i just do not understand Ash’s backstory in dtr lmao

the fact that it felt so... out of left field aside

i don’t understand how it shaped his view of love because his parents’ relationship was so problematic. not that i don’t understand that people do perpetuate toxic things they experience...

was i supposed to just... take away that Ash’s mother loved so deeply & that Ash was just really attached to the idea of his mother’s love?

all i personally understood was that his mother’s death is why he doesn’t want children and why he thinks some loves are worth dying for.

but that’s really it... i don’t understand how it connects to the rest of his values.

frankly i just don’t really like his backstory in general lol

i guess it’s also just that a fair amount of people were expecting ash to be a bad person. like they already had the impression from the start of their relationship, that whatever he was going to do with karlyle as the story progressed was going to hurt him.

so the moment he messed up, it just kind of... confirmed their preconceived notions of his character, maybe.

even though what he did was completely unintentional.

i WILL defend ash answering his coworkers’ questions about his relationship w/ karlyle with “nothing”

and i will defend him repeating that answer to karlyle too, because:

end of s1/vol1 had karlyle saying they don’t rly have a relationship (at the exhibition)

karlyle even said to natalie that they weren’t in a relationship

basically karlyle always drew a line that they weren’t in a relationship so it would make sense that ash would think the most appropriate answer would be “nothing” because he thinks that’s what karlyle would want him to say

this isn’t even accounting for the whole “unnecessary feelings” business

could he have answered it in kinder words??? sure! but i think it’s actually understandable why he answered the way he did.

anyway they just need better communication.

ok so a part of me like... always wondered if ousuke was conflating his enjoyment of playing koto with his feelings for asano

but the recent development seems to at least establish that’s not the case

though i think it’s interesting he acts like he doesn’t actually care about playing koto when like... no, there’s definitely a part of him that enjoys the competition. but to him, koto = asano. it’d be such a sad thing if he didn’t actually enjoy koto... but i assume he’s just not willing to admit that it’s something he likes independently of asano because he sees it as the thing that ties them together.

anyway since i’m ousuke/asano fanclub president, these recent chapters have kept me well-fed and i appreciate them.

seeing his pov always makes me TT because he looks at asano and yocchan (idk what his actual name is lol) and just assumes she has feelings for him,, 

i wanna see ousuke being more genuine with her about his own feelings........ she smiles at you too, ousuke.

hmm.... i didn’t like the arranged marriage AU for DTR much

the situation and the misunderstanding felt so much more convoluted than in the main story

it was a lot harder to sympathize with how Ash handled the situation in the AU... lol it just felt so infuriating, whereas it’s a lot easier to understand his mindset in the main storyline.

and if you thought he was confusing in the main story he’s a million times more confusing in the AU lol even when you get his POV

i wonder if the dtr manhwa will cover some of the side stories................. because there are a lot

tho i think only the ones in the last vol + first side story vol would be relevant? vol2 and 3 of the side stories are cute but i don’t think they’re as meaningful as the others

idk i’d hope to see at least a couple of them adapted once the main story is finished

i think ash and karlyle meeting with his grandfather would be important just to touch more upon karlyle’s duties (well it was less about his duties and more of what his actual relationship with his grandfather is like)

but i REALLY think it’d be good if they covered hazel in the side stories because it helps you understand a lot better why someone like karlyle is also rly good for ash... bc i feel like it’s obvious why ash is a good partner for karlyle, but not as clear the other way.

ash’s rut is also a thing... lol tbh i feel like it can be skipped or glossed over. it’s like 95% sm/t but it does lead to them moving in together ig not that i’d complain about it but since i doubt they’ll adapt every single side story if they do touch some, i’d rather see some of the more meaningful ones

and........ the proposal is a must have................................... the proposal was really sweet............... i’d love to see it drawn by chada....

i just realized DTR s2 is probably gonna end once ash’s pov is finished... since vol2 of the novel ended there

i mean i’ve read the novel so i know what happens in vol3 but it’ll be sad for there to be a whole season break for the manhwa to wait for them to get together.......................

i think i finally figured out the bl dynamic that i like besides ‘it’s complicated and they have history + one party is still bitter whilst the other is oblivious’

bright, popular & caring A x stoic but insecure B ...

it’s so cute and vanilla i love it so much

like B comes off as hard to approach but under their tough exterior they’re a kind person... and they carry a lot of insecurities on their shoulders.

and they have difficulty reconciling the idea that A could possibly like them, as much as they hope they would. because A is kind to everyone and popular & always surrounded by people

but A comes to truly understand the sweet side to the stoic B ... and ends up falling for them... and A is extremely affectionate to B all the while

and yes B is really cute when they’re shy and blushing because of feelings

also A needs to be more experienced (nods)

sits down... this has been the dynamic of a ship i’ve liked a lot for 1-2 years now, and then i recently read DTR and wow... DTR is this dynamic and man... i adore it for sure.
