The Ascent Line Has Four Blenders With The Self-detect Technology, All Of Which Are Available Now.
New Vitamix blenders can tell the difference March 9, 2017 3:16 PM PST New Vitamix blenders talk to your smoothie containers The Ascent line will use wireless connectivity to determine the best blend settings for the container you use. by Ashlee Clark Thompson Drag Autoplay: ON Autoplay: OFF Pay attention, novice smoothie makers -- Vitamix's new line of blenders will use wireless connectivity to do a lot of the work for you. All about blenders The truth about horsepower in blenders and food processors The containers that come with the Vitamix Ascent Series blenders and the blenders themselves will use near-field communication (NFC), which lets two devices talk to one another when they are close to one another. With this feature, which Vitamix calls "Self-Detect," your Vitamix will know if you're blending a pitcher or a single-serving cup based on the container, and it will adjust program settings along with blend times accordingly. The blenders won't power on until they sense that a container is in place, and the blender will disable certain programs if the wrong container is in place (for example, you can only select the hot soup preprogrammed setting with a 64-ounce container). The Vitamix Ascent blenders have built-in Bluetooth, but the company will wait until the fall to enable that feature. Chris Monroe/CNET Don't get too excited if you have an older Vitamix model, though -- the new containers will only work with the Ascent line. The Ascent blenders are also equipped with Bluetooth wireless connectivity. It's disabled right now, but Vitamix plans to turn that feature on this fall. The plan is for the blenders to connect to the Perfect Blend app from the Perfect Company, the creator of smart kitchen scales and apps that guide you through recipes based on the weight of your ingredients. Vitamix has previously partnered with Perfect for a Vitamix-branded Perfect Blend scale. When Vitamix enables Bluetooth on the Ascent line, the blender will automatically send information about the size of the container to the Perfect Blend app. The app will then adjust recipes and ingredient amounts for that container and walk you through a recipe -- if you have a connected Perfect Blend scale. If you don't have the scale, you'll still be able to download the app and use it to send instructions to the blender about which setting you want to use. The Ascent line has four blenders with the Self-Detect technology, all of which are available now. The A2300: $470 (roughly 380 and AU$610); includes digital timer and dial to adjust speed The A2500: $520 (roughly 420, AU$675); includes digital timer, dial to adjust speed and three preprogrammed settings The A3300: $520 (roughly 420, AU$675); includes touchscreen controls, programmable timer and dial to adjust speed The 3500: $620 (roughly 500, AU$805); includes touchscreen controls, programmable timer, dial to adjust speed and five preprogrammed settings The addition of NFC in Vitamix containers and blenders is an intriguing way to incorporate wireless communication into a countertop appliance. It's an approach that doesn't just throw in technology that folks don't need or want; rather, it lets two blender parts talk to each other for the sake of efficiency without drastically increasing the price (keep in mind, Vitamix products are expensive to begin with, but the NFC feature doesn't change the cost). It will be interesting to see how blender manufacturers such as Ninja and Blendtec keep up.

Adobe Analytics Largely Attributes That Growth To The Launch Of The Ocean Medallion From Carnival Corporation, An Upcoming Wearable Technology That Allows Cruise Travelers To Do Anything From Finding Others In Their Group Are To Ordering Food And Drinks Delivered To Anexact Location.
The statistic comes from Adobe Digital Insights analysis of 321 million social media engagements, a survey of 2,000 U.S. residents, and analysis of travel booking site traffic for their 2017 U.S. Travel Trends report. The study, released onApril 27, highlights the growth of virtual and augmented reality, wearables, and social media for travelers. Social media mentions for augmented reality (AR)and VR-related travel experiences rose 13 percent over the previous year, while sales for related hardware were eight-times higher during the 2016 holiday season than the same time frame in 2015. VR content in travel is growing, with at least eight major hotel chains experimenting with the tech in just the last six months alone. While virtual reality creates immersive experiences for travelers researching destinations, social media is keeping travelers connected to those back home, the study suggests. Globetrotters traveling by themselves arealmost twice as likely to share their trip on social media, with 65 percent of solo travelers sharing compared to only 35 percent of those that traveled in a group. Travel is in fact a popular topic on social media, with around 14 million mentions every month putting #travel almost twice as popular (1.7x) as Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift combined. Posts are also often influenced by age, with 81 percent of millennials (age 19-35) sharing monthly, compared to 67 percent in the next age group up, 36-55. Young adults are also more likely to spend money on travel, at 70 percent preferring non-material experience over only 57 percent of those age 35 and older. Social media is also offering insight into why people travel. Nearly a third tag a #bucketlist item in their posts, while 26 percent say they travel as a cultural experience. Thats followed by 15 percent traveling for work and 10 percent for a honeymoon or anniversary. Analyzing social media trends can also give travelers an idea of when to travel: mentions of travelpeak during July and August, with around 15 percent more mentions than any other time of the year. Hiking and road trip mentions peak April through June, while the months between July and September are more popular for those bucket list trips and visiting a new culture. Eco-tourism is the highest in May, August and September, with Costa Rica, Iceland and the Galapagos Islands listing as the top destinations. Summer holidays continue to be some of the busiest for the industry, including Independence Day, Memorial Day and Labor Day. Outside of social media, Adobe Analytics was also able to pinpoint when to book for the best price based on online booking platforms. For flights within the U.S., 76-112 days is the best range to book, while international flights are better booked 125 days out. Saturday flights also tend to cost 11 percent less. For U.S.-based hotels, travelers that booked 33 days in advanced tended to get the best price for their room. Social media also highlighted rapid growth in another arena: wearables. The report says mentions for wearables grew by 44 percent. Adobe Analytics largely attributes that growth to the launch of the Ocean Medallion from Carnival Corporation, an upcoming wearable technology that allows cruise travelers to do anything from finding others in their group are to ordering food and drinks delivered to anexact location. The report also says the cruise industry is booming. While social media is highlighting tech changes for travelers, the study also produced a number of statistics for those working in the industry. For every 10 percent increase in Uber mentions on social media, car rentals dropped by two percent. The study did not find any disruption in the hotel industry that correlated with Airbnb or similar services, however. The study also reports some downturns for the industry: numbers suggest a slowdown in summer travel, as well as fewer visitors from outside the U.S. and a decline in car rentals.

I Want People To Say, This Is My Song For This Reason, Whatever That May Be.
It took 18 months and a lot of hard work, but Paisley did it and he says there was an important reason that drove him. The album as an art form is dying. We can see that every week, Paisley explained at a private screening ofLove and Warin Nashville. But its still my favorite way to make music. I have more to say than one song at a time. Paisleys desire to connect with his fans on a more personal level and have them connect to his songs more deeply birthed his idea for a visual album. From the tear-jerking Today video to the tender clip for Gold All Over the Ground , written from a Johnny Cash poem, Paisley used each music video to help fans understand eachsong in a more meaningful way. I want people to love these [songs] as much as I do, Paisley explains. I want people to come to a concert and want to hear some of these, and not just things theyve heard on the radio over and over. 10 Must-Hear Country Concept Albums Image of For me, all throughout my career, Ive loved the video process; Ive loved the process of film-making. So me and my team of guys that are all experts at this, we sat around and said, What if we could make this album something that resonates on a deeper level for people, and they wont miss it? Anything that keeps them from missing the work we did, thats what you want as an artist; you want people to hear it, Paisley continues. I want people to say, This is my song for this reason, whatever that may be. So thats what drives me. Although Paisley is unsure how exactlyLove and War will be received, even if it isnt a commercial success, hes still proud of the finished product. I always get really nervous when were releasing an album. Im nervous about the response, Paisley concedes. I dont know if youve noticed, but theres a thing called Twitter, and sometimes, theyre not perfect on there. As well as the fact that, like I said, its dwindling returns as you make these. I wrote a letter to my kids and basically said, I dont really care about how successful you are. If you believe in something this much, Ill be proud of you. Love and War, which features collaborations with Timbaland , Mick Jagger , John Fogerty and Bill Anderson , is available for purchase on Amazon and iTunes . It Means Barcelona Would Have To Part With An Extraordinary Amount Of Money To Get This One Done.
According to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Football Italia ), representatives for the Italy international met with Barcelona executives to negotiate a transfer for the summer. But Verratti's agent, Donato Di Campli, has denied that was the case. "A meeting with Barcelona? It's not correct," he said, per Sport . "No, I only went to watch the Champions League game." Di Campli added "on top of that, I will be going to Monte Carlo for the game between Juventus and Monaco" to save further rumours surfacing. As noted in the report, Barcelona have long been linked with the PSG star. Here's why so many consider him among the best midfield operators in the game: Speculation over a possible exit has been fuelled this season due to the midfield struggles of the Blaugrana. Andres Iniesta continues to suffer with injury knocks, Sergio Busquets has not found his best form, while Ivan Rakitic, Andre Gomes and Denis Suarez haven't wholly convinced either. Barca's midfield has been fractured for long spells of the season.Chris Brunskill Ltd/Getty Images Verratti, meanwhile, continues to go from strength to strength in the French capital and is the kind of playmaker who would make a huge difference at the Camp Nou if the move was to happen. David Cartlidge of beIN Sports feels as though the Italian would help eradicate plenty of Barca's problems in this area of the field: David Cartlidge @davidjaca @muhammadbutt Verratti really is the one. I know Xavi keeps saying it but he's perfect to come in and divert current problems in midfield. 4/12/2017, 10:05:40 AM The issue for Barcelona would be convincing PSG to sell. The French champions have ambitions to challenge for the UEFA Champions League themselves and are seeking to build a team capable of doing so. Losing their midfield linchpin would be a massive setback in their progression. It means Barcelona would have to part with an extraordinary amount of money to get this one done. Given the problems the team are having in the middle third of the pitch, they may not have a choice. Jordi Alba Not for Sale Chris Brunskill Ltd/Getty Images According to Sport , Barcelona will not cash in on Jordi Alba this summer despite talk of a potential exit. In the report it's suggested Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid and Valencia have all be tipped as possible suitors for the left-back, who was left on the bench for a spell recently when the Blaugrana utilised a 3-4-3 system. "However, Barca wanted to cut off those stories at the roots, killing the speculation and confirming that they have no intention of selling Alba or including him in any potential deal," it's noted. OSCAR DEL POZO/Getty Images That's not a great surprise, as the Spain international has been key to Barcelona's success in recent seasons. Indeed, as noted by Radio City's David Downie during the recent 3-2 win over Real Madrid , Alba offers an incomparable thrust going forward: David Downie @daviddownie17 4/23/2017, 8:58:48 PM The 28-year-old is inconsistent at times, meaning he's often maligned by Blaugrana supporters. But his ability to surge into the final third, recover position and link up with Neymar makes him a key man. Following on from his recent stint out of the team, Alba has started all of Barcelona's last three matches and performed well in the brilliant Clasico victory. If he was to move on this summer, it'd be tough to find another left-back capable of replicating his influence.

And Once They Started Making And Selling Wine, They Needed A Place To Sell It Out Of.
He was tired of living in the city, tired of his career and his marriage was virtually finished, he said. I wanted to do something different. He sent an email to a friend of his from childhood days, explaining he was frustrated with his work. Jennifer was the daughter of Allan and Carol Peterson, who had started Danish Countryside Vines and Wines, planting the first vines in 2001. I said, Maybe I should have your dad teach me how to make wine, he said. She thought Loren the winemaker was funny, Kind of a joke, he said, but finally I said, Id like to come back and learn a few things, and see what I think about it. Fast forward a few years, and after an apprenticeship with his now father-in-law, Loren is caring for the vines, making wines and helping customers at tastings. The history of the winery started around 1999, when Allan and Carol started experimenting with wine making in their basement. Corn wasnt worth much at the time, Loren said, and the Iowa legislature had passed a Native Wine and Craft Beer bill, in order to create alternatives in agriculture besides just row crops. It gave you some options, he said. Al was told that an acre of grapes takes about the same amount of time as farming 100 acres of corn per year, but what the person didnt tell Allan was that it was 100 acres of corn in 1920, its easily 10 times more work than Al ever thought, Loren said. After the first wine was made, the Petersons son, Andy, suggested if they were going to make wine, they should plant some grapes, since they had some room on the farm. This building was just a rundown old barn, Loren said, The cattle yard is where the grapevines are, you can still see the cement pad where the cattle were watered. The first vines were planted in 2001, and Andy told his parents, Now you have grapes, but if you sell the grapes as a commodity, they arent worth that much. Taking the amount of labor needed, he said they should make wine, but initially they had to bring juice in, because it takes five years for grape vines to produce and be ready for harvest. And once they started making and selling wine, they needed a place to sell it out of. So in 2004, the Petersons started redoing the 100 year old barn. Today the winery is on the lower level, the ground level has a tasting room and gift shop, and the upper floor is a venue for weddings, gatherings and the concerts Loren puts on once a month. The barn was was first put into use in 1913 - it was mostly used for cattle, but also hogs. Allan Petersons father farmed the land before Allan did. Today, Allan still farms the land around the winery, and is Lorens landlord. Ninety percent of the grapes used for making wine come from the vineyard, and each year after harvest is over, Allan and his wife take a 30 foot trailer and drive to the Finger Lakes region of New York to get the fruit that is used in the wineries fruit wines. He likes having his in-laws close by, All of the bad things they had to figure out themselves, I had it easier, I had something to work with. A sign at the winerys drive in names Allan and Carol Peterson as founders of the winery. The reason it says Peterson, instead of Christensen, Loren explained, was that while he and Jennifer now own the winery, he did it out of respect for Allan and Carol.

The 2010 Dodd-frank Wall Street Reform And Consumer Protection Act Passed With Obama's Signature In Response To The Financial Crisis Became Law With Almost Zero Republican Support.
In a signing ceremony at the Treasury Department, Trump said he wanted Mnuchin to review the damaging Dodd-Frank regulations that failed to hold Wall Street firms accountable. He added that the financial regulations that were put in place after the financial crisis have done really in many cases the opposite of what they were supposed to. These regulations enshrine 'too big to fail' and encourage risky behavior. We are taking steps to make our economy more fair and prosperous for all. Additionally, the president signed an executive ordercalling for a review of recent tax rules issued in 2016 under President Barack Obama. There are now three separate reviews of banking rules Trump also askedMnuchin for a broader review in February but the White Houses steps so far have been uneven, leaving many questioningits approach and strategy. Administrationofficials have signaled they want to crack down on Wall Street, but some of the steps they have taken suggest they will be clearing back Wall Street regulations. And after blasting Goldman Sachs during the campaign, Trump has picked several veterans of the firm for senior roles in his administration.Adding to the confusion, the White House has identified regulations that it says are impeding lending but not moved to undothem. Meanwhile, House Republicans are hoping to vote in May on a plan to roll back much of Dodd-Frank. The first Treasury Department review of banking regulations wont be submitted to the White House until June, and these two reviews wont be complete until later in the year. Mnuchin said for the first time Friday that the White House supported the House Republican effort. He suggested it would not impede the reviews the White House has launched on its own. We are supportive of [House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling] bringing forward this legislation and look forward to working with Congress, he told reporters on Friday. The 2010 Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act passed with Obama's signature in response to the financial crisis became law with almost zero Republican support. It created a new consumer watchdog agency, put new restrictions on risk at large banks and made changes to address the way some financial companies tried to shop for lighter regulation. But many community banks have complained that the regulations imposed too many burdens on them, and large banks have complained about what they see as excessive compliance costs that get in the way of lending. Under the law's orderly liquidation provision, the FDIC could take over a failingfirm and manage its collapse to ensure its problems dont bleed into the rest of the financial system. Many congressional Republicans want to eliminate this provision, arguing it would allow regulators to keep failing institutions operating with taxpayer money. Mnuchin, briefing reporters on Friday, said the review could look at whether the regularbankruptcy process should be changed to handle such liquidations. President Trump is absolutely committed to make sure taxpayers are not at risk for government bailouts for entities that are too big to fail, he said. Supporters of the provision, though, have said repealing it without another system in place could put taxpayers on the hook the next time theres a financial crisis. If you get rid of [orderly liquidation authority] without a realistic mechanism to liquidate a [mega bank] then youre setting yourself on the road to taxpayer bailouts, said Marcus Stanley, policy director for Americans for Financial Reform, a group that supported the passage of Dodd-Frank. The kind of changes Republicans advocated to replace orderly liquidation are unrealistic, Stanley said.It is a total fantasy that youre going to fix the problem of a failure of too big to fail financial institution through the bankruptcy code, he said. If everything else fails and the system is collapsing then OLA authority can be triggered, said Dennis Kelleher, chief executive of Better Markets, a financial market policy group. Its structurally created to be a last gasp, break-the-glass fail safe and even then only when everybody in the government agrees its necessary. The other new Treasury Department review takes aim at regulators ability to label certain financial firms too big to fail and subject them to tougher federal scrutiny. The regulators, who make up the Financial Stability Oversight Council , can identify financial firms, outside of banks, that could pose a threat to the economy. FSOC has, so far, labeled several firms including Prudential and MetLife systemically important financial institutions, subjecting them to tougher government rules.

The State Of Traditional Retail It Is Against This Backdrop That I Wish To Initiate A Conversation About The Collapse Of Bricks And Mortar Retail Stores, And The Danger Those Stores Pose To Reits.
Not just among the tightwads in my own circle of friends, but among complete strangers in places like the park or church. The State Of Traditional Retail It is against this backdrop that I wish to initiate a conversation about the collapse of "bricks and mortar" retail stores, and the danger those stores pose to REITs. I think it best to start with a few trends and facts that have been well covered in the mainstream media. After that, I'll share some observations from my development work and the retailers I consult for. It is no secret that a great many of America's traditional retailers have filed for bankruptcy over the last few years, and many more are on the verge. Particularly hard hit are the apparel companies and the department stores which have failed to differentiate themselves from the competition. Think: Payless, hhgregg (NYSE: HGG ), Radio Shack, Gander Mountain, Gordmans (NASDAQ: GMAN ), and too many teen brands to name. Even among the retailers that aren't in bankruptcy, there are plenty of store closures as a result of poor sales. Below is a handy graphic from Business Insider, showing the number of closures announced already this year by company. I feel very confident that Payless, J.C. Penny (NYSE: JCP ), Kmart, and Sears (NASDAQ: SHLD ) will increase the number of announced closures as the year goes on. A few headwinds are converging at the same time, and it's making things really tough on the traditional retailer. First off, there is way too many retailers selling similar products to not enough people. A fun fact from a Morningstar article last fall stated that the US has approximately 23.5 sq ft of physical retail space per capita. The next closest countries are Canada and Australia with 16.4 sq ft and 11.1 sq ft of retail space per capita, respectively. I can tell you from our travels in Europe, that there are far fewer stores (and those that exist are more compact) on the continent. This metric would suggest that far fewer stores are required in order to serve the typical retail consumer in a developed market economy. That isn't inherently bad for stores, but fewer stores mean problems for the owners/landlords of those commercial shopping centers. I will tell you that many of the retail clients I work with have a laser focus on doing more sales with fewer physical stores. Part of this focus is that a greater percentage of retail sales are migrating online, but even where physical stores are concerned, there is a focus on efficiency. That means not just fewer stores, but also the stores that exist having a smaller physical footprint.

The Only Time To Skip It: When Baking Something With A Light Batter Like Cakes Or Souffles That Might Get Jostled By The Fan.
Here's why: It has a built-in fan that helps heat the oven faster, eliminates hot spots and enables even cooking on all racks. No more fussing with rotating pans! Plus, ovens with convection also have a vent that draws out excess steam. The drier air helps foods cook and caramelize soonerjust what you're looking for when roasting chicken or vegetables. When to use the convection setting: It's almost always a better choice because it's more efficient. The only time to skip it: When baking something with a light batter like cakes or souffles that might get jostled by the fan. How to use the convection setting: If you have more than one convection setting, choose the one indicated in your recipebake, roast or broilor the mode closest to your type of cooking. Because convection cooks food faster, common advice is to reduce the temperature by 25F and expect foods to be done about 25 percent sooner. Depending on your oven, it may default to a lower temperature when using convection, but you can override that function. At my house, I don't reduce the temperature, I just check for doneness about two-thirds of the way through the recommended cooking time.

Add Curry Powder And Stir Well To Combine.
Add curry powder and stir well to combine. Continue cooking until leeks are very tender, about 6 to 8 minutes longer. Lower heat at any point to prevent scorching. Season with salt and pepper (be careful, as some curry powders contain salt). 4. Arrange salmon on top of leeks, skin side up, and transfer to oven. Cook salmon until an instant-read thermometer registers 110F (43C) in the very center for rare, 120F (49C) for medium-rare, or 130F (54C) for medium, 5 to 7 minutes. 5. Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, whisk together yogurt, cucumber, garlic, and herbs.

They're Also Only A Partial Solution.
Turn On Do-Not-Track Settings Most browsers, and some services, allow you to automatically send Do-Not-Track (DNT) requests to advertisers, essentially begging them to not use your activity to feed you targeted ads, as well as build profiles. This is something of a gentleman's agreement, though, and doesn't apply to many dedicated tracking firms, or to ISPs. Still, it's worth taking a quick trip through your software and services, and enabling Do Not Track where possible. Lifehacker s roundup of DNT options dates back to the original, and ultimately failed, campaign to stop ad-based tracking, but its still useful. Read More What Really Works Use A Tor-Based Browser It's almost impossible to do anything with a browser without leaving a trail of digital breadcrumbs. The above tips are all half-measures at best, especially since the tracking at issue in this latest bill is baseline data collection, and ISPs don't give a damn about Do Not Track requests. Neither do the least scrupulous data trackers, the exact firms that are most likely to sell your information to those who would abuse it the most. Big Data is done with such niceties, and if you're serious about limiting your exposure, you should be, too. The proper response to this latest erosion of digital privacy is to go anonymous while browsing, or as close to anonymous as you feel like attempting. The easiest tool for this is the Tor browser, which is a free download for Mac OS and Windows. A Tor -based browser called OrFox is available for Android, but installing it is a multistep process. And the iOS version, Onion Browser , is a step down in effectiveness. None of these applications offer a pretty or effortless browsing experience, and youll notice the downgrade in polish, load times, and features compared to Chrome or Safari. They're also only a partial solution. By bouncing your data transfers around a network of servers, the browser complicates the efforts of data trackers that are effectively stalking you, attaching your browsing history in a new session to previous sessions. Those unsettling data profiles can also tie your activity to a specific physical location. But Tor isn't perfect. It's hard but still possible for algorithms to see through the software's shell game, and start piecing together a comprehensive profile, possibly even identifying you. Still, Tor browsers, in all of their forms, are an excellent first line of defense. And this goes for whatever you do with a Web browser, whether it's shopping (where companies like Amazon will happily store your search and purchase histories), tumbling down YouTube rabbit holes, or, of course, looking at porn. Features like Chrome's Incognito mode can wall off portions of your activity, but only a more drastic measure, such as using Tor, has a chance of throwing tracking algorithms off your scent. We realize, by the way, that making the leap to a Tor browser is a hassle. But the war on privacy is real, and one-sided. The choice is clear either you take direct and sometimes annoying action to avoid persistent, pervasive snooping, or you admit defeat. Both choices are yours to make, but don't kid yourself. No one is going to safeguard your privacy for you, or restore it once it's gone. What You Don't Have To Worry About, More Than You Already Did Making Calls Though this bill allows for a wide range of online tracking or wider than what was already considered legal it doesn't change the security or data footprint of phone calls made over standard cellular networks. We still recommend using the free Signal app for encrypted smartphone calls, but the only vulnerability related to the bill in question is in standard internet-based calls, such as using Skype or FaceTime, both of which encrypt their actual calls. Internet service providers can sell records showing when you accessed these services, and savvy trackers (whether they're legit firms or hackers) could possibly cross-reference those sessions with the activity of other users. But that's a bridge too paranoid to cross just yet. Unless you're a high-value target, it'll take a few more invasive acts of legislation before you need to worry about that level of sophistication in data snooping. Sending Messages With An App Internet service providers (ISPs) and even phone-makers will gladly monitor and share customers' mobile data use. That can include specifics related to apps. But these data aren't picked up by most traditional online tracking software, and don't tend to factor into the profiles that data brokers build.

Read The Whole Story Cooking The Pork With A Little Water Kickstarts The Fat-rendering Process.
Kenji Lopez-Alt] As a born-and-bred Boston kid, chowder holds a special place in my heart, and fish-based chowders doubly so, as a fish chowder was the very first dish I ever got to stick on a real restaurant menu. It was creamy, rich, and satisfying, and totally impractical for any kind of home cooking. At home, I take a much more traditional one-pot approach to chowder-making. While the resulting dish it may not quite reach the lofty heights of fine dining, the results are still creamy, satisfying, delicious, a great use of leftovers or inexpensive fish, andmost importantreally, really easy. Serious Eats Easy, creamy, and delicious. Read the Whole Story Cooking the pork with a little water kickstarts the fat-rendering process. Think About That For A Minute.
In spite of success in executing on this strategy, there have been a few key components that we were missing. For example, we have had a significant footprint in the massive West Coast growing areas as well as commodity coverage in high value specialty props. Another missing link was a broad based solution to address the increasing demand in the area of sustainability. We addressed all of those issues with this SureHarvest acquisition. SureHarvest brings 2200 long term, steadfast and extremely innovative customers throughout California, Oregon and Washington. Their customers represent all shops alone in food chain including growers, packers, shippers, distributors, processors, retailers and trade associations. Their commodity coverage includes wine grapes, almonds, hazelnuts, mushrooms, leafy greens, avocados and other fresh produce. The addition of these commodities enables us to impact virtually all components of the consumers benefit, protein, produce, dairy green and even now a glass of wine and more real estate we cover on our consumer's plate, the more opportunity we have to generate consumer pull through demand for our brands. Think about that for a minute. Right now there are a handful of competitors there are only a few that cover even a couple of the standard improvements that we do. We cover virtually all food goods by far more standards than any other verification entity. This is our strategy of building a competitive mode around the business. SureHarvest also brings a broad range of solutions that either augment or complement our own solution's portfolio, promoting them is their sustainability with MIS flagship solution that is used by growers and trade groups to measure their areas of sustainability metrics and what is one of the fastest growing class of standards in American agriculture. SureHarvest has developed a comprehensive status model based solution that has really written book on sustainability in the farm and venue side of things and finally, SureHarvest brings valuable patent portfolio that we believe can be monetized over time with hundreds of food brands who are currently using methods of traceability that are covered by those patents. The integration of SureHarvest is going smoothly. The synergies and cross-selling opportunities that we envision are beginning to manifest in various ways including something that we have been contemplated. Let me give you a few examples. The Almond Board of California and 10% of California almond producers are engaged with SureHarvest sustainability MIS engine, which is self-assessment tool that requires follow of audits. Following the acquisition enhancement, we started hearing from our own producers interested in service not only because of our experience in the field the future of our ability to bundle our other audits such as organic. And in addition to going after these customers, we are getting after the 90% of California almond growers who are not yet on the program. And of course there is similar opportunities with trade associations and producers and other commodities. SureHarvest covers those -- covers those and producers in other commodities that are surfing on the sustainability Tsunami and had similarly excuse me, low penetration rates and where the field growth is still ahead of us. We also believe that as several major almond brands that were build upon their own success, helped the market own consumer outreach programs. Finally, let me give you one more example of an intriguing business opportunity with SureHarvest. The California sustainable wine growing lines has recently launched a new standard and label called Certified Sustainable. This was in response to a research initiative that shared majority of the U.S. wine trade consider sustainability when making purchasing decisions and demand is expected to increase over the next decade. In order to display the certified sustainable locals with venues must be certified by an independent third-party. The point I'm trying to make is that Where Food Comes From by virtue of the SureHarvest acquisition has significantly strengthened its position as America's most diversified and most experienced provider of certification of food brands . In an industry that by most accounts is still in its infancy and poised to grow along the future as food producers strive to keep pace with new consumer preferences. I will close by sharing the discussion background to our financial performance. Assuming the industry continue to grow and we continue to participate in that growth, we believe that the platform we have established is highly scalable and have the capacity to manage the business two or three times our current size without making any commensurate incremental investments in personnel or technology. This obviously bodes well for our bottom line. And with that, I will open the call for questions. Operator?
