DAY ONE - Arrival

The Selection is almost ready to officially begin. The castle is Selection-proof and all girls have arrived. Today, they have the opportunity to settle and are free all afternoon. What would be on their minds during their first day in the royal palace? Let’s find out...

Now, our prince is an aspiring writer. Although he couldn’t really concentrate knowing there were seven women waiting for him somewhere in the castle, he tried to write a chapter or two. And failed miserably.

Now, the seven Selected have finally arrived, have seen their rooms and are ready to settle in... for who knows how long... perhaps forever after?

It was Joy Leary (right), a caste 3 teacher, who started conversation with the other Selected. Kaci Fields (middle) and Evelyn Henderson (left) were glad to share their first impressions about royal life and the Selection.

Joy: “So, what do you think the prince is like? He seems kind on television.”

Kaci: “He does, but kind can be pretty boring... I hope there’s more to him than good manners alone.”

Evelyn: “Manners backwards is srennam!”

Meanwhile Eliza Hampton, our police officer, kept up with her training schedule in the castle’s underground gym area! Talk about discipline?

Kaci soon found her way to the music room, and was excited to find a violin there. She had secretly brought a violin of her own to the castle, but she obivously wanted to try this excellent royal intrument as well!

While Kaci had successfully escaped Joy’s small talk, Evelyn happily continued the gossipping.

Joy: “I would love to have a big family of my own one day. I love kids.”

Evelyn: “My grandma loves kids too.”

Joy: “.............She does?”

And there are more music lovers in this Selection! Here we have famous singer Lydia Deeds from caste 2. We knew she’s an amazing pianist, but apparently she likes to try new things too! Perhaps music is her way of escaping the stressful reality that the Selection can be.

And there’s Kathryn Hildebrand, a caste 3 scientist! A curious, knowledge-seeking girl, as she spent the day exploring and wandering through the castle. Whatever she likes, right?

Kaci’s beautiful music naturally drew attention! She’s still got things to learn, but the other Selected seemed to enjoy what she was playing.

Eliza: “That was amazing! You’re very talented. My name is Eliza.”

Kaci: “Do you really think so? Thanks! I’m Kaci! I’m actually a four, but I just love to play...”

Eliza: “Well, I loved it! You should play for us more often!”

Hey, where is Cloud? Oh, there she is. Of course. Cloud North, reading a book. And another one. All afternoon. Well. I guess she found the royal library?

And then... curious Kathryn ended up exploring the wrong room.

Prince Elijah: “Are you okay? Can I help you?”

Kathryn: “Oh, Your Majesty...”

She quickly made a reverence.

Kathryn: “I didn’t want to bother you... I was just looking for the observatory.”

Elijah: “I’m not sure if you’re allowed to be here. And I’m not sure if I’m allowed to talk to you either...”

Elijah: “But I guess I could show you the observatory.”

Kathryn: “I... It’d be an honor, Your Majesty...”

Elijah: “And your name is...?”

Kathryn: “Oh! Of course! My name is Kathryn. Kathryn Hildebrand.”

Kathryn: “This is amazing! Look at the sky!”

Kathryn: “If only the sky was this clear on the mainland!”

Kathryn: “Did you know there are about 250 billion stars in the Milky Way alone? Can you only imagine how much there is yet to discover? I mean, there are like 10 billion galaxies in the universe we know, and some of them have even more stars! That a whole bunch of stars! Can you count? It’s fantastic! Ahhh, I love science.”

Elijah: “Yeah.....................”

Elijah: “Well, have fun, Lady Kathryn, and I’ll meet you again tomorrow. Don’t tell the other Selected we have already met, will you?

Kathryn: “Of course not!”

Elijah: “Thank you. Good night, Lady Kathryn.”

And as Kathryn discovered some new planet, the other Selected went to bed. Cloud was very tired after speed-reading five books in an afternoon.

Queen Annetta: “Are you okay, Elijah?”

Elijah: *yawning* “Uh, of course, mother.”

Queen Annetta: “Are you tired already?”

Elijah: “I’m okay. Just a bit stressed, that’s all.”

Queen Annetta: “Already?”

Elijah: “Remember I didn’t really want this, mother.”

Queen Annetta: “I do, Elijah. I want you to take all the time you need. Just treat those girls with respect, tomorrow and how long this Selection may take. I was once one of them.”

Elijah: “Of course, I just need to think about myself too.”

Queen Annetta: “Perhaps you need to think about this: are the Selected here for you, or are you here for them?”

Elijah: “Mmh, I’ll think about that tomorrow, maybe. Good night.”

Sleep tight, prince Elijah. Tomorrow, you’ll meet the girls... for real.

Kinda a little know-it-all, except to Elijah. KING ALVARO & QUEEN ANNETTA OF WINDENBURG

King Alvaro is a bit chaotic, but (with a little bit of the queen’s help) an amazing ruler. He wants the best for his children, but doesn’t always know what exactly ‘the best’ means. He genuinly chose Annetta out of love, and has kept loving every bit of her ever since. In a way, he feels as if she serves as his ‘guide’.

PRINCE ELIJAH OF WINDENBURG

Prince Elijah of Windenburg has always been dreaming of one thing. And that thing is not true love, as you might expect from a prince that will soon have to lead the Selection.
