Alright I'm done watching it now.

Verdict: Ehh? It was fine, but I don't really have any reason to watch it again.

Plenty of lines are cringy. The writing can definitely be very meh, but somehow the actors manage to make up for most of it.

After the first episode, Sonic and Tails are 100% gone. There's no "hey wait where did Knuckles go" he just vanishes from the house (while grounded) and seemingly no one cared how anyone would react to that.

Really, it does become the Wade show. Knuckles kinda just stands there after episode 2 while Wade finds his own strength and deals with daddy issues. It's okay, I've never really had much of an issue with humans in the SCU and this is moreso about how Knuckles inspires Wade to be better - a concept I like in Sonic.

My biggest criticism is villains are...bad. Like the main guy that's the final fight of the series has maybe 2 lines in episode 1 and you don't see him again until episode 5, even then it's brief and the final fight is about 4 minutes long. The "big bad" has less than 10 minutes of total screen time in what is essentially a 3 hour movie. There's also the main two that are trying to capture Knuckles, who are just boring and flat. Like I can't think of anything even remotely interesting or entertaining about them. Even the bounty hunters that show up for a short while have nothing.

Come to think of it, that plotline of Wade being wanted went...nowhere. Like you could've cut that and saved an hour of runtime. I legit was like "wait you just escaped from a bounty hunter, you're wanted right now and you're just strolling into Reno???" Legit it never comes up again. Like shit man, if Pete wanted to get rid of Wade all he had to do was call the cops and he'd get arrested, no need for all this kidnapping and shit.

The stuff with Knuckles and Wade I thought was decent, but the underwritten villains really weighed the show down for me. So, it's just alright.

Oddly enough, this has been the part of the show that's intrigued me the most. We all know how the Flames of Disaster were in '06 and obviously the SCU is not even trying to follow the games. Knuckles's power comes from the Flames of Disaster, which he stole when he beat the demon (Iblis) on some planet. Considering after the second movie they've been adding more game elements into the SCU (as should always have been) I really am curious what the implications of this will be.

But hey, maybe there will be more in the third movie. Or not. Maybe this is just a easter egg.

ok if these bounty hunters are here just to collect Wade for the reward, completely unrelated to the group after Knuckles, then why the fuck are they threatening and attacking his family

Like I know they're the "bad guys" here but...seriously. What is attacking his sister and destroying his mom's living room accomplish?

The kitchen fight scene is really good though

Look I get the whole "sibling dynamic" but oh my god is Wanda the most annoying character I think I've ever seen. I'm barely 10 minutes into episode 3 and I wish she'd stop.

Like ffs I fought with my brother daily growing up, but this is more childish than anything we ever did.

This is completely unrelated to anything happening in the show but I think the bowling pin sound effect is the exact same one used in almost every episode of PAW Patrol since season 2.
