Project Idea 1

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Application and Prototype

Client: (IBJJF) International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation

Focus: The only real way to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at this time is in a classroom with other people because of the requirement of needing the other person to execute moves. Therefore, when you are not in class, it can be difficult to practice because you do not have another body to work with.

Need: Those who wish to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu must take in person classes but that can be somewhat expensive and a rather large commitment. People who are always on the go may want a more accessible solution.

Expected Result: An iPhone or iPad and website application with a prototype that connects to the most utilized parts of your body when performing Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Essentially, a body suit designed to measure where the pressure points of your body would be used against an opponent. In addition, a pair of ‘goggles’ would simulate a holographic opponent. During your workout session, the hologram could be presented as a normal person or an outline of a person showcasing their muscles and where the best place on the body is to execute the move.

Components: A step by step guide for different moves based on level, the areas of focus when performing these moves, an area to record your sessions to see where you need to improve and how, alternative exercises you can do without the hologram to improve.

Execution: Create an application and website with prototype to assist athletes in improving their skills in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

Project Idea 2

Hair Mock-Up and Salon Scheduling Application

Client: Woodbridge Salon

Focus: It can be difficult to communicate your ideal hair vision to a stylist, especially if you do not know the proper vocabulary to express the concept. Even with pictures and a consultation, the end result doesn’t always come out the way you intended.

Need: Those who go to the salon, especially women, want what they pay for considering it can be close to $400.00 or more in cities like San Francisco or New York.

Expected Result: An application where the user can take a picture of themself and apply different hair styles and colors to express the desired result for hair.

Components: A section where the user may take a photo of themself an apply different styles and colors to express the intended visual, a profile section to get an understanding of what type of hair the user has and the most common way they style it, a section to be recommended products to get the exact look the user is after, a section where the client and stylist may chat with each other while developing the idea, and an area to browse hair styles.

Execution: An application based platform where clients may explore different hair ideas and stylists can communication with their clients.

Project Idea 3

Painting Webpage and Application

Client: Blick Art Supplies

Focus: When starting a new artistic medium, it can be daunting to understand all the ins and outs of everything that goes along with it such as knowing how much water to mix in with the paint, different ways to apply the paint to the canvas, and the best type of canvas to use with different types of paint or product. For this reason, it can take quite some time to learn a new medium.

Need: When artists pick up the brush, spray can, sketching pencils, clay, etc., they want to use their tools and get to work creating something incredible. However, trying out a new medium can put a pause in their ability to execute their creations as they learn. Therefore, being able to bridge that gap will give artists the ability to get to their creations more quickly by allowing them to gain skills faster.

Expected Result: An application that provides tools and tutorial videos while also possessing an index of necessary information needed to make informed decisions on product choice per medium exploration.

Components: Included in this application will be a color mixer that allows the user to choose the type of product they have (such as a 24 pack of gauche paint) which they would like to mix for a desired end color. This part of the application will assess the colors of paint as well as the type of paint to display the exact ratio, in the form of paint blobs, which the user needs to mix together to get the desired color. Secondly, there will be a section where the user may choose the type of medium they are exploring and find tutorial videos and exercises to work towards learning the medium. Next, there will be a section where the user may browse the proper supplies that are best suited for each medium and finally, direct access to the Blick store where they may buy supplies.

Execution: Create a webpage and desktop application that uses the above tools to give artists their creative freedom.
