i get that americans love their cultural imperialism, but it really does piss me off that june is “international” pride month just because something happened in the united states.
in aotearoa, june isn’t our pride, it’s theirs. marsha p johnson and sylvia rivera are their historical figures, not ours. the phrase that “you owe your rights to Black trans women” is true there, but here we owe our rights to (mostly) Māori historical figures. i have the freedoms i do because of the legacy of an entirely different set of people operating in an entirely different context at entirely different times.
But because of american cultural imperialism, most queer people in Aotearoa don’t even know our own queer history. Carmen Rupe, Ngahuia Te Awekotuku, the Dorian Society, Gillian Laundon, Georgina Beyer, and the Wolfenden Association are some of our queer history. We should know their names! we should know what they did for us! but because of the power of the american imperial machine, we don’t.
our national pride month should be july, the month that the Homosexual Law Reform Act passed in 1989. our two largest cities hold their pride festivals in february and march, respectively. american queer history has very little (or nothing, depending on who you ask) to do with our queer history. anecdotally, from my own queries, queer youth in aotearoa know more about american queer history than our own.
anyway, happy pride, americans. i’m truly sorry that most of you don’t see the negative impact your nation’s culture has on the rest of the world. and to the rest of the world reading this, try searching for your own country and culture’s queer history, don’t accept the american narratives as your own. we deserve our own histories divorced from the cultural hegemony of the USA.

a feel like the new generation of fanfic readers NEED to understand that clicking on a fic (interaction) does nothing. ao3 has no algorithm. your private discord discussions of fic do not reach the authors. if you do not actively engage with writers they will stop posting. this isn’t social media this is community.

THIS IS NOT REAL. If you get this comment, they’re just trying to get you to delete your fic.
1) I would have gotten some kind of email from Ao3 if this was true
2) this comment is formatted to be perfect to tack onto any fic they choose
3) ALSO why on earth would Ao3 get rid of entire fandoms off the site? Even if they WERE inactive? Who knows if others will be ‘late’ to the fandom and want some fic to read. Who knows if someone wants to come back to their 6 year old account only to find most of their fics deleted.
I’m lucky to be a reasonable adult who has seen tricks like these who also had a very kind person comment their own doubts.
Please let your Ao3 friends know <3

It says a lot about society that a beach towel that actually fits me is labeled "oversized" on the packaging so that thin people can know which of a select few beach towels will make them feel all warm and cozy and small.
I already buy beach towels to dry myself off with because it's easier than looking for bath towels that fit me, so labeling a beach towel "oversized" because this world is made solely for thin people is just added cruelty. I've been using beach towels to dry myself off with even when I was in the low 200s weight range.
What's fucking wild is that 99.999999% of thin people are blissfully ignorant of what the world is like for fat people. They have no clue what it's like to have to check the weight capacity of a chair on a website before buying it or seeing everything that's the perfect size for you being labeled "oversized." They don't know what it's like not being able to find clothes that fit you at a regular store, thrift store, online store, or even those plus size stores that only go up to a 3XL and just resize thin people clothing.
They don't know what it's like being thankful to learn online that Plan B doesn't work for most fat people before you bought and assumed in a post-roe world that Plan B will be effective. They don't know what it's like to live in a world where everyone freely hates and discriminates against you without even having backlash from progressives and people who claim to support equality, because oppressing you is just accepted fact even to the people who fight for the rights of all of your other oppressed identities. They don't know what it's like to live in a world where hating you is so expected and normalized that it's ingrained into your own people to the point that you literally cannot trust that
anyone you meet
not a single person
who looks like you will share solidarity.
None.
Whenever a thin person suddenly becomes fat, that is the closest we have to a person realizing they've been living in the Matrix. The most intense epiphany you'll ever have is rapidly becoming fat and then seeing how this world changes for you almost overnight.

"fiction affects reality" wrong "fiction doesn't affect reality" wrong
The decision to emulate or not emulate what we see in fiction is on the audience. It's YOUR responsibility to KNOW better like a reasonable ADULT.
Abusive people are going to be abusive regardless of what total strangers are writing on Tumblr. Because being an abusive person is an active series of decisions that you make. You don't get to blame murder on Satanism and metal music in goddamn 2025

By using antibodies from a human donor with a self-induced hyper-immunity to snake venom, scientists have developed the most broadly effective antivenom to date, which is protective against the likes of the black mamba, king cobra, and tiger snakes in mouse trials. Described in the journal Cell, the antivenom combines protective antibodies and a small molecule inhibitor and opens a path toward a universal antiserum.

mitochondria: the powerhouse of the cell (intak) - nav
synopsis — who need's a's in biology when you have a boyfriend like intak?
Tumblr media
you’re supposed to be studying.
supposed to be.
instead, intak is lying across your bed, flipping your notebook upside down, pretending to be very, very serious.
“you spelled mitochondria wrong,” he says, squinting exaggeratedly.
you groan, flopping onto the bed next to him. “i didn’t.”
“you did,” he insists. “but don’t worry. i still believe in you.”
you turn your head to glare at him, but he’s already grinning, boyish and unbothered. it’s unfair how easily he makes you forget about everything—deadlines, grades, the way the world feels too heavy sometimes.
“you’re a distraction,” you mutter, poking his cheek.
“the best kind,” he says proudly, catching your hand before you can pull away.
you stare at him—messy hair, soft smile, heart in his eyes—and suddenly studying feels like the least important thing in the universe.
“what?” intak asks, voice dipping lower.
“nothing,” you say, cheeks heating.
he doesn’t buy it. he shifts closer, still holding your hand. “tell me.”
you swallow, nerves crawling up your spine. “just… i like this. us. you.”
intak’s whole face softens.
he tugs you even closer until your forehead bumps his. “me too,” he whispers. “i’m crazy about you.”
you laugh, breathless. “even if i spell mitochondria wrong?”
he pretends to think very hard. “i guess i can forgive you.”
“how generous,” you tease.
“hey,” intak says, grinning wider, “you’re dating a future spelling bee champ.”
“pretty sure that’s false advertising,” you giggle.
he kisses you before you can say anything else—soft, lingering, sweet enough to make your toes curl.
“false advertising or not,” he murmurs against your lips, “you spelled mitochondria wrong, i didn't."
"get out my house."

i don't care if it's nazis, mormons, or a bunch of misguided autistic people. if anyone ever tries to tell you your soul is from another planet and you're actually part of the class of impressive people that secretly did everything cool in the world but is now extinct and lives on through your broken genome, you RUN. YOU WILL RUN AWAY. YOU WILL SPRINT FULL SPEED AWAY FROM THAT.

I would really like this trend of donation scammers sending anons to stop. I block them yet they still send anons. It's very annoying.

all that bimbo girl dinner girl math “i’m too pretty to understand the economy” passenger princess shit is not subversive. it does not make men mad. it is not reclamation. the joke is on you. they are laughing at you, not with you, and the tradition of women who play to men’s most heinous views of women in order to get a bag is long and established. these women are apart of that legacy no matter what idiotic, hyperonline choice feminism spin they try to give it. it is never and never will be progressive to treat women as though we are naturally incompetent and incapable
