I just watched Alien Romulus and am a massive Alien fan, so the fact that you posted this now…the stars have aligned for my brain to latch onto this like a dog with a bone.

Sylus being experimented on by Wayland Yutani and becoming a xenomorph / human hybrid with full human consciousness like the Ripley clones in Resurrection, while maintaining some outward xenomorph features like his dragon form.

MC/reader being thrown to him as food by the researchers, but he refuses to hurt them/us, like he does in the game.

Wayland Yutani thinks MC/us are special for this and experiment on MC/us too.

MC/us becoming a queen and him becoming our king praetorian. Making a colony with him from the researchers who so wronged them/us.

It’s horrific. Fascinating. Delicious.

The night the storm came showed that it was no weak, brief storm. It tore through the thick trees scattered across Sylus’s forest with violent howls, shaking the mountains, caves and flooding the valley paths. Sylus had gone out that night, scouring the woods for dry firewood and hunting to feed you. He had told you to stay in the den, the one lined with soft pelts and dragon-warmed stones—but the winds rattled the entrance, and rainwater slipped in through cracks in the cave mouth. You’d tried to keep the fire going, shivering despite your efforts. When Sylus returned, drenched and wild-eyed, you were already curled up in a thick blanket, coughing faintly and sniffling.

Sylus was not a beast who feared much. Not man nor beast nor blade. But the sound of your cough? The paleness of your face? Those sniffles? That made his blood turn to ice. His claws, still wet from the storm, shook as he reached for you. His nostrils flared as he inhaled—too warm. Your body radiated heat, not the kind he loved and purred for in his sleep, but the kind that screamed of fever. His pupils dilated into slits as he stared down at you, a soft rumble building in his throat, protective, panicked.

Sylus wasted no time. The moment he realized you were ill, he sealed the cave with massive boulders from the outside. leaving only a small space for airflow and for him to squeeze through, No more wind. No more water. The den became a fortress. He reinforced it with clawed Fingers and scorching dragonfire. He even wove layers of thick leaves, moss, and hides over the opening to keep the storm’s icy breath away from your fragile human body.

He refused to leave your side. Not even for a minute. Whenever you coughed, his tail curled around you, trying to wrap you in his warmth. When you whimpered in your sleep, he huffed at the shadows. He didn’t sleep, His glowing red eyes stayed locked on you all night, unmoving, his breath shallow as he counted every rise and fall of your chest. Every time your fever spiked, he let out an anguished, low snarl, pressing his forehead to yours as if he could draw the sickness out of you and into himself.

The moment your fever drops, even a little, Sylus melts. You wake up to his heavy head resting against your stomach, wings tucked in and relaxed for once, breath even and calm. He still watches you, but the panic is gone—replaced by exhausted relief. He touches your face gently, claws careful not to scratch. “Better,” he rumbles. “You smell like you again.”

Once you’re well enough to sit up, Sylus becomes twice as clingy. He insists on carrying you to the nearby hot spring he guards in his free-of-humans territory, letting the mineral-rich water soak your muscles. He refuses to let you lift a single rock, fetch a single log, or even touch the cold floor barefoot. He builds a second fire beside the first. Reinforces the den with even more heat-holding stone. Stockpiles on plants that smell like herbs. every time the sky darkens or the wind howls, his body stiffens and he pulls you closer, whispering, “Not again.”

This is based on the nickname feature in game. There are a certain set of nicknames you can have the li call you that they have specific dialogue for. This fic is based on the ‘master’ nickname. Sylus claims he has yet to meet anyone worthy enough to have him call them that, yet in a phone call with him he tells MC they have complete control over Onychinus (the mafia he runs), so I wanted to write a little scenario of us teasing him about it. He basically already admitted we’re his master 😂

No blurb cause I don’t expect this fic to be very long. Only a few hundred words probably. I just wanna clap back at him with the fact that he’s said himself we’re his master in all but name 🤣

Was replaying the devastating masterpiece that is Beyond Cloudfall and this hit me like a freight train again

MC taught Sylus that a forehead kiss is a gesture of human love. He doesn't seem to grasp the meaning of it, which MC notes — "He doesn't understand it. He will never understand it".

But then, in his last moments, as he lays dying, this is Sylus' final act...

He does understand. And he is declaring his love for her in the most meaningful and powerful way he can think of.

He went from being pretty condescending about human love

to embracing it... fuck. It's so beautiful and so painful and aaaaaahh 💔

I am not quite done just yet... because there is another layer and meaning to the forehead kiss...

This exchange happens if you pick the "I want your soul" option rather than the"I want your love" one and it's just as poignant.

Not only is Sylus conveying his love for her when he kisses MC's forehead in the datura field, but with this gesture he is also entrusting his very soul to her. That is his final act before the light dims in his ruby like eyes, and his body turns to dust, leaving only half his soul and his unspoken confession of love behind.

I am never recovering from this.

I am sending Paperfold my therapy bills.

They can't keep getting away with breaking my heart like this!!! (actually yes they can and I encourage them to keep it up. Never have I seen a couple as heartbreakingly, compellingly, beautifully written as SylusMC)

To end on an uplifting note, Sylus carries what MC taught him about love into his next life... although he has yet to drop the L bomb with words he has already professed the sentiment to her right here (unbeknownst to her ofc and to us, at the time)

I love SylusMC to death, man... The more you dig into their story, the more rewarding and gut wrenching it gets. Can't wait for further revalations and critical damage to my feelings down the line 🥲👍🏻❤️

After having lost her for centuries, then finding her only to get off to a disastrous new start, perhaps fearing she'd never forgive nor care for him again... now here they are. Doing skincare and gazing into each other's eyes and cradling one another's faces... Sylus must be in a blissfully happy form of disbelief.

This is reality.

They are here together doing couple things.

After years of agony, of being without his second half... the world is at last coming back together. The shattered pieces of his existence being put back together more perfectly than they were to begin with

There are legitimate problems with lack of content for Sylus (and Caleb now too) but that’s not an excuse to act like literal children over a game. Was so disheartened when I learned a lot of the horrible messages on Rafayel’s birthday card were from Sylus girlies (or so I heard). Yall wonder why the devs/fandom don’t like us 😩 Sending death threats to pixels is so fucking wild 💀💀

Don’t like a Li? Don’t interact with them/don’t pull on their cards. Simple. We’re literally all just trying to have fun enjoying a game. Harassing people over it is so juvenile, please touch some grass. This accomplishes absolutely nothing except for pissing off the devs and fellow players.

Enjoy the Li you like, ignore the ones you don’t. Block people who post stuff you don’t want to see on your feed. It’s really that easy 🤷‍♀️

Fun and unique nicknames for our favorite dragon boy 🥰🐉

Meant to share this sooner but got distracted 😅

For a long time, I just had Sylus as ‘Hubby’ in my phone, but it didn’t feel very unique, and I wanted to make his nickname special. When his myth dropped, I immediately had an idea that lead me to lots of ways to give Sylus a nickname that really suits him and indicates the bond him and MC have :)

I play DnD, and I knew there was a partial dragon language made for the game. As soon as I saw Sylus was a dragon I raced to the wiki to study up on dragon speak, and was not disappointed.

I combed through every word currently in the draconic dictionary, and here are my favorites:

First, the best word for our purposes imo; the prefix ‘er-’, which is the possessive ‘my’ used to indicate intimate/romantic relationships

This word is an utter gift, and you’ll quickly see why. It allows for all kinds of pairings with other fun words, such as:

‘Har’, meaning echo and ‘haurach’, meaning fate.

So you could call Sylus ‘Erhaurach’, meaning ‘my fate’ ☺️

Or you could pair it with something even cuter like ‘noachi’, and call him ‘Ernoachi’, ‘my little treasure/my dear’

You can also always incorporate these into fics with dragon!Sylus himself and have him call MC these names of course!

‘Qal’ and ‘qallim’ are also fun, but ‘qallim’ can’t be paired with the ‘er-’ prefix and be grammatically correct. However I still thought it was a fun word and worth looking at.

These last few before the end (and the word I ultimately stuck with) are more useful for just compliments, but can still work as a nickname (sans the middle, just didn’t want to take two screenshots 😅)! I really love ‘vorastrix’, for obvious lore reasons. Though, unfortunately I didn’t find a word for ‘sorceress’ exactly. The last word I want to mention also has the ‘-strix’ suffix, and its gender-neutral, so I would argue the word works for any gender.

And lastly, this is the word I decided to use with the ‘er-’ prefix, and it just fits so perfectly;

So now, you can call Sylus ‘my dragon’ while simultaneously indicating your relationship status 🥰🥰

But yeah. I just thought this was a really fun and sweet way to honor Sylus’s dragon heritage, while also being really intimate and loving with him. Wanted to share in case anyone else was looking for something more special to call him. Have fun and mix and match as you like! 💕
