Tiana POV:

It had been two weeks since Felix and I broke up, and the house felt so quiet. Although he had never officially moved in, he was always around, but now it was just me and Gonky.

I was avoiding my family and Hayden because I just couldn't face them. Instead, I was wallowing and crying. I was stronger than this! I shouldn’t need anyone, after all, my grandmother always said, "Crying and whining is not the Coleman way. Dry your tears and move on."

But...I think I need my mom

Thalia Blake purchased an old industrial loft with space for her new art studio, The Painted Loft. Her dream is to be able to quit her job and run her own art studio full time.

Opening Day at the studio was successful but she is not quite ready to quit her day job.

F: You wouldn’t be this busy if you didn't have the crazy idea to start your own firm. You don’t even have time for me anymore.

T: Felix, not this again...can't you be supportive for once? I asked if you wanted to join the firm

F: You think I would want to work for my girlfriend? Tiana, be serious

T: You can't be serious, Felix!

F: You went behind my back on this after everything we talked about...our future

T: I did not go behind your back...I just didn't do as you dictated and decided for myself not to give up on my dreams. You knew from day one that I always wanted to open up my own firm! You knew this!

F: All I am hear is you talking about yourself with no thought of me or our future. I can't believe how you can be so damn selfish, Tiana! It's no wonder you don't have a relationship with your father and grandparents after everything they've done for you.

T: Y-you...get out of my office! Now!

Tiana's POV: I couldn't understand Felix and why he wouldn’t want to support me? For weeks he has been belittling everything I had accomplished and made it seem like my ability to be a good girlfriend would be hampered by having my firm. Worse yet, he decided to throw my difficult relationship with my dad and grandparents in my face. I never knew Felix could be so cruel

Tia started her own law practice specializing in human rights and international law. She finally got to a place where she felt ready and comfortable to go out on her own. Everyone is very excited for her except for Felix, who had been discouraging her from starting her own practice, but Tia is hoping he will come around.

After months of getting to know Angela, Tiana decides to make a trip to Chestnut Ridge to meet the rest of the family.

Tiana POV: I was a nervous wreck by the time I reached Chestnut Ridge, but meeting my step-dad, Mr. Abraham and my siblings Sonny and Candace went a lot better than I expected. It was weird that being at their ranch felt home-ish

Tiana: It’s okay...I am just glad you are here and that you didn't abandon me. I was always afraid that you never wanted to be around.

Angela: I did... so much, Tiana. I just couldn't... I didn't have the means to fight for you at the time

Tiana wondered if her mother couldn't have done more? But she had seen time and time again, one party being faced against someone like her grandparents...able to afford the best lawyers and drag things out. But that didn't make it hurt less because a part of Tiana wishes her mum had fought harder.

Angela: But I should have...I gave in too easily. I-I hope it's not too late...

Tiana: It’s not... I would like to get to know you and tell you about me

Tia: Um...is the tea okay?

M: Yes, thank you...you have a beautiful place

Tia: Thank you. I never thought I would move back to Brindleton Bay after working so hard to escape it

Hayden was so understanding when I dropped by unannounced crying about my meeting with Angela...my mother. He let me sob and vent...listening and not trying to tell me how to feel or what to do. He just promised that he'd be there no matter what I decided.
